My old starlink v2 gave me 450-500mbps (for those who want to argue, I'm in the north), and it was too much for me. I got an access point and dedicated 100mbps for hot-spot business which my clients enjoyed and i still had like 200+mbps for myself which was still too much for me.

But i want to believe that some of you have heavy things you do with Internet that makes you need all that speed

1Gbps seem quite small for my everyday life. I work with Gigs upon gigs of data (for real work) that i have to continually download and upload; so the faster the better. Not to mention the amount of devices and video game consoles that are currently connected to the network.

Some eligible customers (+me) got stepped up to 1Gbps at 100k (50% off). I believe this is rolling and would be available to everybody soon. Oya Starlink boiz come and cry , Where is that dude that said 1Gbps doesn't even get 200Mbps upload?

My installation is not faulty,it is a regional issue from MTN directly.

Like the one(MTN FIBRE X NETWORK OUTAGE) that happened few days ago is Nationwide outage.

So is not installation issue, it's technical issue from MTN side.

You said you have had about 10 outages, that can last more than 3 hrs in the last 3 mths, and i was reacting to that
nothing more nothing less. Yes they had a regional issue, the same for Starlink, they have had that too.

This MTN fibre x issue is what will finally make me go back to starlink,i used starlink for 3 years only 2 or one service outage that did not last up to 2hours. Now i have used MTN fibre x for just 3 months and more than 10 outages that can last for 3hours +, authentication failure whatever, ipv4 timeout whatever.

If this issue continue this way,i will go back to starlink oo.

if it is true, you should ask for a physical site inspection cos' that's unusual and extreme

I didn't shift any goal post i was there at a friend's side when we did the test we got 100+ to 200+ that time even the downlink was around 700+ to 800+ hence the reason why i said so

No wahala! Now you know it was a transient issue. You can ask that your friend
to do the test again today and send you results.

Don't shift the goal post mate. Yes we know MTN fibre X is asymmetric.
The issue is: You said the 1Gbps doesn't even give up to 200Mbps upload and i said that's false with evidence.

Wrong mate. I used that plan and i would get around at least 400 and 600 Mbps at the max. I stopped using it 3 mths ago thereabout:

So many of colleagues for office dey always cry and swear for MTN Fibre X cos of downtime that runs for days

Been on FibreX since the beginning of the year and only had about 3 downtimes, 1 from them which only lasted an hour thereabouts
and twice from my end of the installation because of a cable cut, which still got fixed promptly. No technical downtime from MTN last for days; except once again a cable cut and they have to deploy an engineer to come patch or replace the entire thing. I called in the morning and the cables got replaced by 12pm. Asides these, it's been smooth sailing 24/7 even under the heaviest rains and thunderstorms.

They have come again.

Crazy, having abandoned starlink and using the 1gbps plan for months; i had to lower it too
cos u would get 8Gbps for almost the same amount in the states. Too expensive

Yes obviously but to confirm such settings first is very important.Example, Why voraciously boil water at 1000w for 4mins when same can work for 9mins at 400w since both run on different inverter capacities.


Most homes will comfortably pump water with 0.5h (about 800w real life) say within 30mins to fill up 1000L but some want it fast at 15min with 1hp or higher for example. Both have different surge power plus other factors.The goal is the final result - water.

you already answered your own question, so nobody needs to do any test. even 50W will cook rice eventually, thought it might take a very long time, whereas 2100W will take a shorter time. My setup is a 8.5kWp / 6kW/ 16kWh combo so i can use 2100W without stress and be done with cooking in minutes to under an hour. If your capacity is smaller, reduce the power and of course, wait longer for the food to get ready. It' just black and white.

Yeah boss, na just to show say everything wey get pro get con. MTN is my default internet (used to be Starlink) because na fire for my location. quite expensive ooo but more coverage as i can either used it fixed (or wireless) at home or on the move wireless within my vicinity via 5G.
But starlink dey try just be say i don tire for am cos of saturation leading to abysmal speeds in urban cities

We can't really make much reasoning of this quote as it lacks lots of basic data e.g flexible pipes, surge protectors, DC and AC cables, Bush Bar, Breakers, etc all have specs and capacities hence one can't easily say the cost of the 6mm is too high or low as we don't even know it's length.

We don't even know your location, or if it's a full fledged company handling things.

I am not trying to scrutinize the quote to the barest minimum, just checking if it's within spec for the said install. Thanks
