25 Nov 2020
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has stopped issuing new visas to citizens of 13 mostly Muslim-majority countries, including Iran, Turkey, Syria and Somalia, according to a document issued by a state-owned business park.

The document, which was sent to companies operating in the park and was seen by the Reuters news agency, cited an immigration circular that came into effect on November 18.
It said applications for new employment and visit visas were suspended until further notice for nationals outside the UAE from countries including Afghanistan, Libya, and Yemen.

The visa ban also applies to citizens of Algeria, Kenya, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan and Tunisia, the document said.

It was not clear if there were any exceptions to the ban.

The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship had no immediate comment.

Security concerns
A source briefed on the matter said the UAE had temporarily stopped issuing new visas to Afghans, Pakistanis, and citizens of several other countries over security concerns.

The source did not say what those concerns were but said the visa ban was expected to last for a short period.Last week, Pakistan’s foreign ministry said the UAE had stopped processing new visas for its citizens and those of some other countries.

Islamabad said it was seeking information from the UAE on the reason for the suspension but that it thought it was related to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Pakistani ministry and the source said those holding valid visas were not affected by the new restrictions and could enter the UAE.

algerian foreign minister said that was not true . a fake news . emirati visas are not denied to algerians .

aljazeera is the propaganda media of qatar , which is in a cold war with emirates and saudi arabia . so take the info from them carrefully when they talk about emirates

I am jealous of Navies in calmer seas; they can buy all these smaller vessels.
Because of our rough seas here in South Africa, we can't classify anything less than 80m as an OPV.

this Damen 1400 is 72 m long , and 1400 tons

itn't south africcan OPV , warrior class only 58 m , 415 tons ?

It isn't accurate if that is the case because a lot of players won't make that list and some players including ours were out injured for those matches. Comprehensive comparison of all the players in the top leagues and Nigeria would probably still come out tops

can you share the list of nigerian players in big leagues here .

Hmm If both lists are up to date it means Nigeria do have more players in top teams and leagues than both Morocco and Algeria, Good to know

if the list of clubs on wikipedia for nigerian players is correct . moroccan players and even algerians are in better clubs

With the dam almost full, military option is gone. Unless the Egyptians want to flood the Sudanese capital and southern Egypt.

sudan and egypt have each year flood from nile river , dont think the destruction of the renaissance dam will make a difference ,maybe massive flood near the dam ok , studies says (and there is a lot of studies about renaissance dam failure , specially from egyptian universities ) there will be massiv flood until Sennar Dam in sudan , but for region far it will be normal flood and they will have time to be prepared like their annual flood , more than 20 days to sense it in north egypt . so i dont think it will be a big problem for egyptians if they have the will to destroyed it

an exemple of study about the subject: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/326381376_Prediction_of_Flood_Hydrograph_due_to_Grand_Ethiopian_Renaissance_Dam_Break3

in case of a war between egypt and ethiopa , we will see at worst case , only egyptian limited air strikes on ethiopian renaissance dam and military bases .

Virtual Parachute Training System (VPTS) to Morocco.

We are extremely pleased to announce that a signed contract has been received for a Virtual Parachute Training System (VPTS) to a customer in Morocco.

The order is for 1 Student Jump Station and Instructor Operating Station of the ‘Lite’ variant and will be based on the generic software that is in service with various military schools.

Not only does this order mark the first sale of VPTS following internal investment and a product development exercise, but this is also Pennant’s first direct contract win into Africa and to a new customer.

BMPt is not used to transport infantry , why are we comparing it with IFV ? . its russian name bmpt mean tank support combat vehicle . . so its used inside an armored divisions formation in the first line .

the bmpt is heavy (compared to ifv) with 48 tons mass , and is used with tanks in armored division attack . you cant put wheels on it for this role . yes wheels have better mobility on roads and good grounds . but division armored attack rarely follow good grounds, roads ( roads can be destroid , are predictable for embush , and not avaible in war grounds ...) .
for off-road mobility , desert , montains , obstacle clearance ability, with lower profil . tracks are ideal . specialy for algerian south desert , or north montains operations .

check this short video about the bmpt to see the advantages of tracks in war

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1dLL_HfkfU

the bmpt has better armor . it can resist better than ifv. ( yes tanks also can be destroid but still have better chance to survive ) . and specially against small mobil terrorist groups . for myself i prefer sending in first contact attack an armored vehicles . with better armor , hudge fire power and will let my ifv with their 8 extra dead meat soldiers transported inside in case they got hit by atgm for second wave .

How i wish the army could get 12 of these in this configuration, to act as advance and eyes in the sky, for anti- ambush roles, pending when the force would be able to consolidate and hold the initiative to fight off the potential or on going ambushes

tunisia got 24 OH-58D Kiowa Warrior with all their equipments and ammunitions, training for only 100.8 million dollars

WASHINGTON, May 3, 2016 - The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to Tunisia for OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Aircraft and associated equipment, training, and support. The estimated cost is $100.8 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.

The Government of Tunisia has requested a possible sale of:

Major Defense Equipment (MDE):

Twenty-five (25) Embedded GPS/Inertial (EGI) Navigation Systems (INS)
Twenty-four (24) AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning Systems (CMWS)
Ten (10) AGM-114R Hellfire Missiles
Eighty-two (82) Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) Rounds

This request includes the following Non-MDE:
To be installed on each of the twenty-four (24) EDA OH-58D aircraft: one (1) SHP Rolls-Royce 250-C30R/3 Engine, one (1) AN/ARC-164 UHF Radio, one (1) AN/ARC-186 VHF Radio, one (1) PC-DTS-V Data Recorder, two (2) AN/ARC-201D Radios, one (1) AN/APX-118 IFF Transponder, one (1) AN/APR-39A(V)1/4 Radar Signal Detecting Set, one (1) AN/AVR-2B Laser Warning Receiver, one (1) M134 DH Mini-Gun, one (1) M3P Aircraft Gun System, and two (2) M260 Rocket Launchers.

This request also includes: fifty (50) AN/AVS-6 Night Vision Goggles (NVGs), five-hundred thousand (500,000) 12.7mm rounds for the M3P Gun System, 2.3 million 7.62mm rounds for the M134DH Mini-Gun, the A965M1 Decoy Chaff Cartridges, M211 and M212 Advance Infrared Countermeasures Munition flares, eighty-two (82) MK66 MOD 4 2.75 rocket motors and eighty-two (82) M152 High Explosive (HE) warheads to support the APKWS, one (1) EGI for the Combined Armament Avionics Electrical Trainers, six (6) M279A1 Hellfire Launchers, associated test and support equipment, technical support, the Army’s Non-Standard Rotary Wing Aviation Program Manager’s Office (NSRWA PMO) technical support, Security Assistance Management Directorate’s (SAMD) program technical support, additional contractor support, Peculiar Ground Support Equipment (PGSE), Post Production Support Services (PPSS), Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), Retrofit Service Notice (RSN), Repair and Return (R&R), communication and navigation equipment, aircraft survivability equipment, displays, flyable storage, transportation of aircraft, publications, and training.

The total estimated value of MDE is $44.3 million. The total overall estimated value is $100.8 million.

Tunisia has been approved to receive twenty-four (24) OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Helicopters via the Excess Defense Articles (EDA) Program under a separate notification. That separate notification included only the OH-58D airframes, thus this transmittal includes all the major components and customer-unique requirements requested to supplement the EDA grant transfer.

This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by helping to improve the security of Tunisia which has been, and continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in the North African region. The United States is committed to the security of Tunisia, and it is vital to U.S. national interests to assist Tunisia to develop and maintain a strong and ready self-defense capability.

The OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopters along with the parts, systems, and support enumerated in this notification will improve Tunisia’s capability to conduct border security and combat operations against terrorists, including Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Libya, and Ansar al-Sharia, Tunisia (AAS-T). These helicopters will further modernize the Tunisian armed forces and increase its interoperability with U.S. forces and other coalition partners. Tunisia will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment into its armed forces.

The proposed sale will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

The principal contractor for this effort is unknown and will be determined during contract negotiations. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.

Implementation of this proposed sale will require the assignment of approximately ten (10) additional U.S. Government and approximately fifteen (15) contractor representatives to Tunisia for approximately five (5) years to support the fielding, maintenance, and personal training.

There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.

This notice of a potential sale is required by law and does not mean the sale has been concluded.

All questions regarding this proposed Foreign Military Sale should be directed to the State Department's Bureau of Political Military Affairs, Office of Congressional and Public Affairs, pm-cpa@state.gov
