its curious that they started with 3 one seat JF17 . usualy when you plan to buy a squadron , you take in the first delivry some two seats version for pilots formation .

maybe waiting another close order or maybe that mean they will not buy more sad

maybe there is a fourth two seat jf 17 coming with them . like a turkish tv news showed (on the pic)

the three NAF jf17 in the beguining of the video

I believe you know what I am talking about and you know it had nothing to do with equipment.
It had to do with it’s struggles to contain the Islamists insurgency where they ( Islamists) committed Deadly massacres every Night and The Algerian Army/Airforce at the time struggled to reform/reorganize itself from the conventional to the unorthodox / Counterterrorism Forces they are today.
My point is I believe it took 3 HOS . The one who ironically would have the most impact was a Civilian I.E. had no Military background .
Glad We are not arguing that Algeria is one of the strongest Militaries in Africa Today.

yes fighting against your own population insurgency is not easy , conventionnal army strategy and equipments are useless . even mighty US struggled to stop taliban in afghanistan or insurgency in Irak .

for algeria terrorism and insurgency in 90's beguining 2000's. it was a dirty war . 150.000 to 200.000 killed . beside rising rural militias to fight for there towns , the infiltration of terrorist groups by the secret services, there is even reports about secret service agents committing atrocious crimes against population disguised to discredit islamists.

and to finish , the final blow came from politics with Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation , that bring closure to the Algerian Civil War by offering an amnesty for most violence committed in it. a lot of insurgent , terrorists laid down their arms and returned to civilian life. also an economic strategy to develop poor regions where terrorists were recruting there people . after that, only the hard core of terrorists remained, and it had become easier to crush them after .

Careful now sometimes unrealistic Dreams come true .
Take a look at Algeria today :
Twenty Years ago they were one of the weakest Countries in Africa .
Today they are arguably the Strongest.
What We laugh and mock today , could become deadly serious tomorrow.
Iron will.

I asked a question some months back but not given a sufficient answer seeing this radar have got to ask again.. If a foreign jet enters Nigeria airspace can we detect it and what would be the phase of action if its not a friendly jet

from my ignorant outside opinion , i have read that nigeria air defense have :
- 16 roland 2 short range air systems (with 6 to 8 km max range) from 80's . if it still operationnal
- 09 F7NI jets with Grifo-MG radars (max range detection 55km) and PL-9C air to air missiles ( 22km max range air to air) .
- and this new 36D6 radars and civilian radars
- some manpads and anti-aircraft guns.

this is insufficient to intercept or even detect an attack by a modern aviation ( 4th + generation jets like Rafales for exemple) . with anti-radiation missiles , BVR long, medium range missiles , the agressor will not have too much trouble to shot down the F7NI's undetected or strike what he wants in nigeria and get the control of the skies .

when the JF17 come . (hope more than 3 jets , and hope block III version with new radar ) . it will be better and give nigeria a minimum air defense, interception capability . and the next step will be getting better radars and long , medium range air defense systems .

Chkil

I wonder how the SU-57 stacks up against the F-35 and F-22?

In sheer numbers the F-35 is better.

It's difficult to say what the avionics suite can do for the SU-57 as most of that information is classified.

Even the SU-57 multi function display is classified.

So, what's your opinion

the Su-57 project is not ready yet . they are still working on its AESA radar , the stealth coating and glass canopy are not finished . and the new engines are not ready and need to be hidden with stealth coating too .

add that russian fighters doctrine is not the same with US air force doctrine .

add that many caracteristics are classified for both jets .

so , for my self i will wait the final version of su 57 . to have an opinion on the subject.
