Police on Good Friday, April 14, arrested a Nigerian national identified as Nagbu Orajuka and his Indian wife outside a church in Bhandup, Mumba, India for allegedly cheating a resident into paying them close to Rs. 14 lakh using a honey trap. The complainant, Sandeep Singh, an IT professional received a friend request on Facebook from the female accused, who had set up an account in the name of Mercy John, in October last year. The profile had a picture of a Causasian woman, and she identified herself as a London-based businesswoman while chatting with Mr. Singh. Mr. Singh exchanged numbers with her and they started chatting on WhatsApp. The woman then told him that her husband named Valentine was running a herbal seeds import business and had recently lost his supplier, and that Mr. Singh could make a fast buck by supplying the seeds to her husband. Confirming the arrest, Deputy police commissioner (zone 7) Sachin Patil said: "We have arrested a Nigerian national and his Indian wife who had made a Facebook account in the name of Mercy John and duped an IT professional from Bhandup." "He lost at least Rs 11 lakh that he transferred to them under various pretexts. We suspect their involvement in more cases and have got their custody." "The incident took place in November 2016, when the Bhandup resident received a friend request from one Mercy John, who claimed to be a UK national, " he added. He accepted the friend request and soon started chatting with her on WhatsApp. "She told him she worked for a UK-based pharmaceutical company which used to get herbal seeds from the US, but was no longer sourcing it from there. She told him that India had a supply of these herbal seeds used in medicines, and if he took up the supply, he would make a profit,” said Avinash Kanade, inspector, Bhandup police station. The victim took the bait and went to the ‘Indian supplier’, buying seeds worth Rs 2.5 lakh. He gave these to a representative of the ‘pharmaceutical company’, who met him at BKC, the police said. The representative, a Nigerian national, told him the quality of seeds was excellent and placed an order for more seeds, for double the amount. The IT professional then paid another Rs 6.5 lakh and purchased more seeds, officers said. Thus under various pretexts, the accused got over Rs 11 lakh from him. He got suspicious after John stopped answering calls. The victim then approached the Bhandup police, which found out that some of these calls were made from Delhi. A police team led by police sub-inspector Jalinder Lembhe went to Delhi and found the address of the Nigerian national who had met the victim at BKC. Eventually a constable pretended to be a courier employee reached Orajuka, who had been identified as the accused by then, officers said. His arrest led the police to his wife Niharika Deep, who had been running the fake Facebook account, said the police. Deep has also been arrest. Their laptops have been seized and are being analysed. The Bhandup police had obtained CCTV footage of the area where Mr. Singh had met Valentine and retraced his movements to the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, where they established that he had come to Mumbai from Delhi," said Mr Patil. "With the help of some local informants in Delhi, we traced the two accused posing as Valentine and Mercy John. They were picked up outside a church on Good Friday, after which we brought them to Mumbai and arrested them. We are trying to apprehend the person who posed as the supplier," Source: www.ogbnewsnow.com.ng/2017/04/nigerian-man-and-his-indian-wife.html?m=1

EASTER TRAGEDY A man believed to be a professor at the Federal University, Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, Ebonyi State and a pregnant woman are among seven people that died in a multiple motor accident at the Ezzamgbo axis of the ever-busy Abakaliki-Enugu expressway on Thursday evening. All the victims gave up the ghost on the spot and their bodies were evacuated and taken to FETHA II, Abakaliki. The accident was said to have been caused by poor visibility arising from the over four-hour heavy down pour in Ebonyi State on Thursday evening. An eyewitness said that a trailer and a Toyota Camry from opposite directions had a head-on collision resulting in partial blockage of the road. This lead to the death of the said professor and his driver on the spot. A young man said to be the professor’s son and a woman whose identity could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report were said to have survived the accident but with life threatening injuries. It was gathered that while sympathizers were racing to the scene, a Hyundai carrying five passengers rammed into the trailer killing all the occupants. Officials of the Federal Road Safety who arrived the scene of the accident immediately blocked the other part of the road and evacuated the dead bodies. As of 6am on Friday, the road safety officials and the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency, Evangelist Ephraim Ononye were seen pulling the Hyundai and the white Camry with registration number FUNAI 51-D26-FG off the road. http://ogbnewsnow..co.ke/2017/04/easter-tragedy-prof-pregnant-woman-die.html?m=1

Reno Omokri, former aide to immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan, has called on Churches to sell the private jets of their wealthy pastors and use the money to carter for the needy in their communities. Reno was reacting to series of suicide and attempted suicides by Nigerians recently, noting that never in the history of the country had suicide been widespread. Recall that a doctor had jumped into the lagoon at Third Mainland Bridge last week. This was followed by another case of two women who were rescued from jumping into the Lagoon by the Lagos State Police Command. Reno noted that the Government may succeed in policing the Lagoon, but wondered what happens to several unreported cases of suicide in the villages. In a post he shared on his Instagram page, he wrote, “l unreported in villages across Nigeria? “This is not PDP or APC. If doctors and business men and women are being moved to suicide, what about the increasing number of unemployed? “I call on churches to shift focus from miracles and financial breakthroughs to extending love to the broken, abandoned, lonely and unemployed in their communities. “Sell your founders private planes and ues the money to feed thousands as Jesus fed thousands.” http://asirirepublic..nl/2017/03/on-suicide-matter-sell-your-private.html?m=1 |

Controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu, has declared that any man who cannot spend his salary to buy his girlfriend whatever she demands is stingy, heartless and a disgrace to manhood. The actor, who was recently in war of words with Cool FM’s On Air Personality Daddy Freeze, noted that most men only use women as intimacy gadgets but find it difficult spending for them. Maduagwu, via his Instagram page, described men who cannot freely give their women N100,000 and above, as “useless he-goats.” He wrote, “Any man that cannot use all his salary to buy his girlfriend whatever she demands from him is stingy, heartless and a disgrace to manhood! “When its time to make love to a lady, all your muscles will rise up as if you are under a spell, you will squeeze all the goodness and mercy out of her beautiful Bosom , but when the same girl ask you for ordinary One hundred thousand naira for shopping, you will enter voicemail. “Useless he-goat, that’s what you are bro! Is it not your mates that are giving their girlfriends all their salaries? Nonsense.” http://asirirepublic..co.ke/2017/03/any-man-who-cannot-spend-all-his-salary.html?m=1

Like nearly all conditions that revolve around pain , headaches can be tricky to categorise . A headache one person would call “terrible” might feel mild to someone else . But speaking generally , you need to see your primary care physician if your headache status changes , says Mark Morocco , MD, a clinical professor and ER doc at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. That means if you never had headaches , but now you seem to have them all the time , your doctor should know about that change , Morocco says . Or if the intensity of your regular migraines has suddenly ratcheted up, that ’s also something worthy of your doctor ’s attention . Even in those situations, chances are good your headaches are not of the life - threatening variety . “People are always worried about brain tumors ,” Morocco says . But headaches are actually not among the symptoms experts usually associate with a tumour On the other hand, there are some warning signs that your headache is a true medical emergency . You have a ‘ thunderclap ’ headache If a severe headache comes on suddenly—”Like someone flipping a light switch, or hitting you with a hammer,” Morocco says —that ’s something to take seriously. It could be a “ subarachnoid hemorrhage” (SAH ), or bleeding within your brain caused by a leaking aneurysm . “ That’ s a dangerous headache , and you need to call 9 - 1 - 1 or have someone take you to the hospital ,” Morocco says . To be clear , this isn ’t a sharp pain that recedes in a matter of seconds or minutes . “It won ’t go away quickly ,” he adds . “ But you don ’ t want to make the mistake of taking heavy pain pills and going to sleep . ” Your headache changes its tune If you experience migraines or tension headaches , an especially severe headache —while terrible —isn ’t necessarily something you should worry about . “ One way to think about it is, if the quality of your headaches were a song , is this the same song but with the volume but turned up higher?” Morocco says . If the answer is yes , he says that ’s reassuring . What he worries about is if the song changes , meaning your headache feels both severe and different from what you normally experience . If that ’s the case , you should get to the ER , he says . Again , this could be an aneurysm or some other urgent medical situation . Your headache isn ’ t your only issue A bad headache accompanied by a fever is concerning. “This could indicate an infection of the brain —something like meningitis ,” Morocco says . It could also be a warning sign of encephalitis , or inflammation of the brain . Especially if your bad headache and fever are accompanied by an altered mental state—you can ’t remember your kids, or are otherwise acting unlike yourself—that ’ s a good reason to call 9 - 1 - 1 or head to the ER . The ache is behind or around your eye “If you have a headache with eye pain, and especially if you have a change in your vision , that ’s an emergency ,” Morocco says . The big concern here is acute glaucoma, or a buildup of pressure in your eye that cuts off its blood flow and can result in blindness. “What we see a lot is a person goes to a movie, and when the lights go down and the pupil dilates, that change in pressure leads to the headache and the other symptoms ,” he says. http://asirirepublic..co.ke/2017/03/4-signs-that-shows-your-headache-is-not.html?m=1 |

Of recent, popular On Air Personality, Freeze, has been very vocal about the activities of pastors in Nigeria . The media personality turned actor believes that some of the Nigerian pastors are occultists who do not preach the message of Christ but feed the public with what they want to hear . In a recent chat with Saturday Beats, Freeze said although he has said a lot about the activities of these pastors, he still has so much more he wants to say but is scared for the safety of his loved ones . “I am not scared of their doltish fire by fire prayer, I am not scared . If they send hired assassins to me , I could be worried so I try to keep my security tight . I don ’t remember attacking any of the pastors ’ loved ones . I am scared for my loved ones and that is why I have not shared half of the things I know about these pastors even though I have shared a lot of things already. “My father once told me to be careful because many of these pastors are juju men and they would ‘do me juju ’. Many of these pastors are occultists and they know. Some of us that have a discerning spirit know. They are tricksters. One thing I can guarantee you is that they are not of God, ” he said. Ever since he began the campaign against pastors , many people online have labelled him with various names ranging from him being an atheist to being an anti - Christ . When asked if he believed in God , he was quick to say that he does not only believe in God but he also preaches the message of God. He said, “I do not only believe in God but I am a Christian , biblical scholar and I also preach the bible . Most of our pastors in Nigeria have deviated from the teaching of Christ and established their own fraudulent doctrine which is a total departure from what Christ taught us . I think it is high time we stood up and told ourselves the truth. The true message of Christ is love, repentance, healing and forgiveness . That is the basis of Christ preaching . Christ does not care about your success or the kind of car you drive , it is not his business. “Obviously , this line of preaching cannot work . Countries that are less religious are doing better than us a hundred fold . We cannot get to where Dubai is in the next ten years if we try to be like Dubai but we are not even trying . Instead of building mega cities , we are building mega churches; instead of building mega factories like the Hyundai factory in South Korea , we are building mega churches and we are going back to the Stone Age . That is why we see a witch in every young child and we believe that poverty is brought upon us by the devil. http://asirirepublic..co.ke/2017/03/what-makes-me-angry-with-some-nigerian.html?m=1
