Politics18-year-old Apprentice Impregnates 10 Girls In Five Months by RabbleRouser(op): 3:48pm On May 07, 2025
An 18-year-old apprentice has allegedly impregnated 10 girls in just five months, including his master’s daughter and a salesgirl in Anambra State.

Reports say he was first sent to learn a trade under a master, but within three months, he got both his boss’s daughter and a salesgirl pregnant.

This, however, led to his dismissal from the apprenticeship.

The state Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, disclosed this in a live video on social media on Wednesday.

Obinabo said the situation got worse after he returned to his village.

She said, “I want advice from the public because this one is beyond my capacity.

“This boy was sent to learn a trade at the age of 18 and three months of apprenticeship, and he impregnated his master’s daughter and his salesgirl. He was sent packing. Two months after that, he impregnated eight other girls in the village.”

Obinabo also said the boy’s mother came to her office to report the issue.

According to her, the mother said, “‘Anytime I see a girl coming towards our house nowadays, my heart would jump, please, I need help.'”

Obinabo said, “This matter is beyond me, the reason I want the public to help me come up with a solution. Is it spiritual?”

She said she asked the boy how he was able to convince the girls.

“I asked the boy the magic he uses in luring the girls to bed, but he told me he always tells them that he loves them and would like to marry them any time he acquires wealth.

“This problem is beyond me because of the boy’s age and the number of pregnant girls involved; that’s why I need help to solve it.”

Obinabo did not mention the name of the boy, his mother, or their community, but she called on the public to suggest solutions.

PoliticsWike Should Remain In Abuja, Leave Fubara, Rivers Alone – Clark by RabbleRouser(op): 8:08pm On Jun 18, 2024
Says Amaechi and Wike started Politics of Madness in Rivers State

*** Reiterates that he has never met Fubara, he does not Know whether he is Black or not, he is only fighting against Injustice

*** Says godfatherism must end in Nigeria Politics

***He wants to be remembered as a foremost Nigerian who believed in Nigeria, who believed in equality in this country, who believed that no one in Nigeria should be regarded as a superior person against the other

*** He asked those he offended to forgive him

ABUJA- FORMER Federal Commissioner for Information and South South Leader, Chief Edwin Clark has asked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Nyesom Wike to remain focused and concentrate in the nation’s Capital because he has a lot to do and leave Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and the people of the state alone.

The Elder statesman who stated this in an Interview with African Independent Television, AIT on Tuesday however accused the former Rivers State governor and the immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and his successor as the masterminds of what he described as politics of madness in Rivers State.

The Leader of Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF who noted that godfatherism must give way in the nation’s polity and the practice of politics for the development and growth of democracy in the country, said that he has never Fubara ad he cannot ascertain his complexion, said that he is only out to fight against injustice and oppression.

The interview by the AIT with Clark was in Commemorations of his 97th Birthday as well as a Documentary on his Life and Achievements.

When asked why attempts have not been made to settle both Wike and Fubara, the Leader of the Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders Forum, SMBLF asked if they are quarrelling that would call for settlement, stressing that what is playing out is egocentricism, the issue of I made you the governor of the state and you must worship me, but the other saying that he cannot worship man, but God, even though he agreed that he made the governor by the former governor.

Clark said, ” Who made you Governor of Rivers States, today you don’t want to see the man? He wrote about Peter Odili but later now he said that if he does anything against Odili, God should kill him. Then, Amaechi made him Chief of Staff. When he quarreled with him, Ameachi now recommended him to be appointed Minister, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo agreed.

“But what happened? One day, we had the approval of theresidency to tell the security people as he got five members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, I have their names here, to impeach the speaker, one Otelemaba Amachreee. Then to later impeach, the governor, Rotimi Ameachi. There was a free-for-all fight. The mace was broken. One of the members called Chidi, not somebody with a part of the mace. That man had to be flown abroad for treatment. Amaechi then closed the House of Assembly for one year. So that’s Wike’s work.

Politics of madness in Rivers State was started by Wike and Ameachi. They don’t care about other people. So, there is no way, Wike should stay, remain in Abuja to do his job. Let the young man rule his place.

“What are you going to settle them for? Where they quarreling. What are you settling them for? People said Wike made Fubara governor, yes, that is true. The man has acknowledged it. But he says, I can’t worship a human being that I will worship God to show appreciation. But Wike said that worship God through me. The man said no. That is the problem they have.”

On the Rivers State House of Assembly members who dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC, he said, “So, as far as I’m concerned, it will ease out. And this is tied to what you said about INEC. INEC is not doing its job. The constitution is clear. There’s a legal advisor in INEC office, Secretariat.

“When such vacancies are created like this, they have to take action to conduct election within 90 days to fill those vacant places, which they have not done. These are some of their failings.

When asked what he would like to be remembered for, Clark disclosed that he would want to be remembered as a foremost Nigerian who believed in Nigeria, who believed in equality in this country, who believed that no one in Nigeria should be regarded as a superior person against the other, just as asked those he offended in the course of his sojourn and work to forgive him.

The South South leader said, “It must come from a home to be a Nigerian. So, as far as I remember, number one, I am one of the oldest states men in Nigeria. I was very happy when His Majesty, the Ooni of Ife, during my book launch, Brutally Frank asked everybody to stand up, with General Yakubu Gowon, former President Goodluck Jonathan, among others were all there. He said, everybody should stand up. The Ooni said that Chief Clark is our Baba, he is our nationalist, a national figure. So, what honour do would be more than that ? So, I want to be remembered for the role I played in Nigeria, and an appeal to those that during these 70 something years of my service to my country, those that I do not know that I have offended, to forgive me.

“But I want to be remembered to be a foremost Nigerian who believed in Nigeria, who believed in equality in this country, who believed that no one in Nigeria should be regarded as a superior person against the other. Everybody should be equal.

” That is the Nigerian I want to be remembered for that. I contributed to that, which I did, because during the civil war, all the teachers and other workers from the South West or South East, South-South, left the North. There were no teachers, there were nobody. I was then the Commissioner for Education, i was appointed by Bridgadier General Samuel Ogbemudia, we supplied Kano State, 250 teachers, free of charge, they don’t pay out. Audu Bako was the governor; . They got integrated in Kano.

We gave North West, Sokoto the headquarters, 200 teachers; when Alhaji Shehu Shagari was Commissioner for Education in Sokoto, North Western State. They didn’t treat them well, then the people returned home.

“We gave science teachers to the rest of the states. We had exchange of students, with North East, in Maiduguri.

And the other day, during the COVID-19, I got a call that the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu was coming to visit me. So he came. And he sat down somewhere, because of the COVID. Then he was saying, have you forgotten your pension? He said exchange of students? I said, yes, yes, I remember. One of my daughters said, he was one of those who finished up in Government College in Maiduguri.

He said, yes, myself, I was sent to Edo College, where I did my HSC. And he used to come and talk to us. I said, come and sit by me. That’s all I wanted.

“When the war was over, Gen. Yakubu Gowon said, I don’t need any congratulations, that there was no victor, no vanquished because it was a family war. Go and help them to reintegrate, to reconcile and we have a station, which we did. My eldest daughter, Rebecca, was in Class 2 in St. Theresa School Ughelli. I removed her from Ughelli and took her to Enugu to go and study with them and see and suffer with them, supplied them desk.Government supplied Queen’s School, Enugu, Okanagan Grammar School, Enugu, with furnished teacher’s quarters in Nsukka, 10.

“So what am I saying? I’ve been in Nigeria. And I challenge anybody who says, Chief Clark was such and such, no way.

I kicked against corruption because I know it’s one of those things eating Nigeria. I will be remembered for my role in education. When I was 85, I asked myself, what do I do? I must leave a legacy behind.

Shouting on top of my voice is not enough. I said I want to establish a private University where children from all over the country will come to my village, live together, study together, and grow up together to be good citizens of their country and already, that is happening.”

PoliticsPresidency Tackles New York Times, Says Tinubu Inherited Dead Economy by RabbleRouser(op): 8:04pm On Jun 16, 2024
THE Presidency has tackled the New York Times over its report on the current economic situation in Nigeria, saying that President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023, inherited a dead economy.

The Presidency also justified some of the policy decisions taken by the Tinubu’s administration like floating of the naira and fuel subsidy removal, declaring that the policies were taken in the best interest of the country.

A statement entitled, “Rejoinder to New York Times jaundiced report on Nigeria’s current economic situation”, issued on Sunday, by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency said Nigeria is not the only country in the world facing a rising cost of living crisis.

The statement read: “Ruth Maclean and Ismail Auwal’s feature story with the title ‘Nigeria Confronts Its Worst Economic Crisis in a Generation’, published on June 11, reflected the typical predetermined, reductionist, derogatory, and denigrating way foreign media establishments reported African countries for several decades.

“Because of the misleading slant of the report, we need to clear up some misconceptions conveyed by the reporters as regards the economic policies of the Tinubu administration that came into power at the end of May 2023.

“Most significant about the report was that it painted the dire experiences of some Nigerians amid the inflationary spiral of the last year and blamed it all on the policies of the new administration.

“The report, based on several interviews, is at best jaundiced, all gloom and doom, as it never mentioned the positive aspects in the same economy as well as the ameliorative policies being implemented by the central and state governments.”

The Presidency said that as at the time Tinubu took over the reign of government, the nation’s economy was bleeding and needed urgent measures to bring it back.

It said, “To be sure, President Tinubu did not create the economic problems Nigeria faces today. He inherited them. As a respected economist in our country once put it, Tinubu inherited a dead economy. The economy was bleeding and needed quick surgery to avoid being plunged into the abyss, as happened in Zimbabwe and Venezuela.

“This was the background to the policy direction taken by the government in May/June 2023: the abrogation of the fuel subsidy regime and the unification of the multiple exchange rates.

“For decades, Nigeria had maintained a fuel subsidy regime that gulped $84.39 billion between 2005 and 2022 from the public treasury in a country with huge infrastructural deficits and in high need of better social services for its citizens.

“The state oil firm, NNPC, the sole importer, had amassed trillions of naira in debts for absorbing the unsustainable subsidy payments in its books. By the time President Tinubu took over the leadership of the country, there was no provision made for fuel subsidy payments in the national budget beyond June 2023.”

“The budget itself had a striking feature: it planned to spend 97 percent of revenue servicing debt, with little left for recurrent or capital expenditure. The previous government had resorted to massive borrowing to cover such costs.

“Like oil, the exchange rate was also being subsidized by the government, with an estimated $1.5 billion spent monthly by the CBN to ‘defend’ the currency against the unquenchable demand for the dollar by the country’s import-dependent economy.

“By keeping the rate low, arbitrage grew as a gulf existed between the official rate and the rate being used by over 5000 BDCs that were previously licensed by the Central Bank. What was more, the country was failing to fulfil its remittance obligations to airlines and other foreign businesses, such that F

DIs and investment in the oil sector dried up, and notably Emirate Airlines cut off the Nigerian route.

“President Tinubu had to deal with the cancer of public finance on the first day by rolling back the subsidy regime and the generosity that spread to neighbouring countries. Then, his administration floated the naira.”

Although, it acknowledged that the exchange rate got to its worst level, it contended that it’s gradually regaining some level of stability.

The Presidency said, “After some months of the storm, with the naira sliding as low as N1,900 to the US dollar, some stability is being restored, though there remain some challenges. The exchange rate is now below N1500 to the dollar, and there are prospects that the naira could regain its muscle and appreciate to between N1000 and N1200 before the end of the year.

“The economy recorded a trade surplus of N6.52 trillion in Q1, as against a deficit of N1.4 trillion in Q4 of 2023. Portfolio investors have streamed in as long-term investors.

“When Diageo wanted to sell its stake in Guinness Nigeria, it had the Singaporean conglomerate, Tolaram, ready for the uptake. With the World Bank extending a $2.25 billion loan and other loans by the AfDB and Afreximbank coming in, Nigeria has become bankable again. This is all because the reforms being implemented have restored some confidence.

“The inflationary rate is slowing down, as shown in the figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics for April. Food inflation remains the biggest challenge, and the government is working very hard to rein it in with increased agricultural production.

“The Tinubu administration and the 36 states are working assiduously to produce food in abundance to reduce the cost. Some state governments, such as Lagos and Akwa Ibom, have set up retail shops to sell raw food items to residents at a lower price than the market price.

“The Tinubu government, in November last year, in consonance with its food emergency declaration, invested heavily in dry-season farming, giving farmers incentives to produce wheat, maize, and rice. The CBN has donated N100 billion worth of fertiliser to farmers, and numerous incentives are being implemented. In the western part of Nigeria, the six governors have announced plans to invest massively in agriculture.”

The Presidency noted that with all the plans being executed, inflation, especially food inflation, will soon be tamed.

It said, “Nigeria is not the only country in the world facing a rising cost of living crisis. The USA, too, is contending with a similar crisis, with families finding it hard to make ends meet. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen raised this concern recently. Europe is similarly in the throes of a cost-of-living crisis.

“As those countries are trying to confront the problem, the Tinubu administration is also working hard to overturn the economic problems in Nigeria.

“Our country faced economic difficulties in the past, an experience that has been captured in folk songs. Just like we overcame then, we shall overcome our present difficulties very soon.”

PoliticsNigeria Is Poor, Elected Officials Should Earn Minimum Wage – Soludo by RabbleRouser(op): 9:12am On Jun 13, 2024
Governor of Anambra state, Charles Soludo has called for elected officials to start earning minimum wage, highlighting the urgent financial crisis facing Nigeria.

Speaking on Wednesday at a special edition of The Platform, an event organized by The Covenant Nation to promote national development, Soludo emphasised that Nigeria is financially strained.

The event coincided with the celebration of Nigeria’s 25 years of uninterrupted democracy.

Soludo pointed out that Nigeria’s economic woes are exacerbated by the extravagant lifestyles of government officials, which are sustained at the expense of the nation’s wealth.

He proposed that these officials should be paid the minimum wage to understand the harsh realities faced by ordinary citizens, stressing that the current system is in a state of denial about the nation’s financial condition.

“Let’s come clean and straight with Nigerians. Nigeria is very poor and broke but the lifestyle of government and government officials does not show it, especially with the obscene flamboyance in public display,”
Soludo said.

“The poor are hungry and impatient, let’s not annoy them more with our insensitivity.

“In this case, I agree with reverend father Mbaka, who said elected governors should also earn minimum wage. I agree that we should be paid that so that we can feel that as well.

“In Anambra, I have not received a kobo as salary since I assumed office. I have donated my salary to the state.

“It is symbolic. It is not much. I think generally, the system is in denial. There must be some signaling, it is just the symbolism of this.”

Soludo called for a new code of conduct for public officeholders to enhance fiscal prudence while performing the core duties for which they were elected.

“That is why I proposed reinventing the new code of conduct for public officers,” he said.

“For the federal government, the actual projecting revenue comes to about N6,160 per Nigerian, per month.

“For the states, except Lagos and a few states, most states have revenues amounting to less than N3,000 per resident, per month.

“It is from this shares per citizen that we are expected to provide all the infrastructure, debt service, pay salaries and pensions, build schools and provide everything.

“For each of our wasteful spending, let’s be conscious about the fact how many citizen share we are squandering. Once we lose this consciousness about the public trust we bear, the society dies irredeemably.”

PoliticsJonathan, Wife, Others Forced Wike On Rivers - Clark by RabbleRouser(op): 9:06am On Jun 10, 2024
ABUJA—South South Leader, Edwin Clark has said after the tenure of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State in 2015, former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, pleaded with the people in different to those outside the state to support Nyesom Wike for governorship, though it was the turn of the people of Ijaw.

According to the elder statesman, aside from God, the biggest players who supported Wike to rise to his political level today, were the Ijaws, including himself, adding that as Amaechi’s government came to an end in 2015 after eight years, the Rivers Ijaws again insisted that it was their turn to take over governance in Rivers State and this time, the consensus was general among the people.

He said at this point, all Ijaw people under the leadership of four times Minister, Alabo Tonye Douglas, insisted on an Ijaw man to take the lead against the backdrop that this was only fair and just and so, many Ijaw sons and daughters with all manners of qualifications presented themselves.
He noted that almost all of them had held top positions, both at the state and federal levels as no one doubted the fact that it was the turn of an Ijaw man.

In an Open letter dated June 9, 2024, to Senator George Sekibo, the senator who represented Rivers East and made available to journalists yesterday in Abuja, Clark, warned him on the need for caution in overstating the role of Wike in Rivers politics with regard to the Ijaws, said at that time, the people of Ijaw emphasised that it would be very unfair for them, being the majority, to be shut out for a period of 16 years and another Ikwere man taking power to make it 24 years.

According to him, former President Jonathan pleaded with them that they needed to give Wike a chance during an election year in which he was seeking to return to office at the centre.

The leader of Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders Forum, SMBLF, wrote Sekibo in response to his press briefing recently in Yenagoa, Bayelsa, where Sekibo and others visited the Ijaw National Congress, INC, leader, Prof. Benjamin Okaba.

The open letter was also copied by President Bola Tinubu; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator George Akume and Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.

Recall that Sekibo who spoke on behalf of the leaders had said the Rivers Ijaw People’s Congress, RIPCO, was in support of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, Nyesom Wike, who has demonstrated his love for the Ijaw nation contrary to claims in some quarters arising from the political crisis rocking Rivers State.

Clark noted that it was a shock to the entire Ijaw people in Rivers State and in all the other states, but they had to soft pedal and support Wike to contest in respect for Jonathan and his wife as well as for the sake of peace, said as at that time, Wike’s highest position before coming to Abuja was as local government chairman and later Chief of Staff to Amaechi, who was his kinsman.

According to the Leader of Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, in subsequent times, Amaechi appealed to Jonathan to make Wike a minister, which led to his emergence as Minister of State, Education and later acted as the minister when Prof. Ruqayyah Rufa’i was removed as the minister.

Clark, who asked Sekibo and his group to exercise caution in the way and manner they go about with the affairs of the FCT Minister, accused Wike of being a man of contradiction and inconsistencies from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primaries where he vowed to support whosoever emerged as candidate, to his vow not to be minister, to his scathing excoriation of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which he likened to a cancerous party, saying everything Wike supposedly stood for have been repudiated by his fickle mindedness.

PoliticsThat ‘lying’ Drama Between Ngelale And Onanuga by RabbleRouser(op): 7:47am On Jun 01, 2024
There was celebration across social media during the week as President Bola Tinubu marked one year in office.

What did you think? Oh! That people were celebrating the president and APC? Far from that! The celebration was in response to the visible disarray in the presidential villa. Of course you know that the gbege was between the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale and the Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Ngelale had earlier posted that Onanuga was spreading lies, for posting that the President was going to address the joint session of NASS on May 29.

While countering Onanuga’s information, Ngelale wrote that it was ‘false and unauthorised’. That was pure washing of their dirty linen in public. Couldn’t Ngelale call Onanuga privately to talk to him rather than making a public show of his elder, which of course boomeranged?

Also, how come a whole presidential spokesman didn’t know the facts about whether the president would be at NASS or not that he had to disgrace himself? And when Ngelale made that post against Onanuga, why didn’t the presidency secretly inform him that he was wrong and Onanuga right?

Well, some Netizens think Onanuga is beginning to reap what he has sown by always attacking people anyhow. You do know that

Tinubu eventually appeared at the NASS on that day, right? Many believe that these guys are just giving us tips on why things seem uncoordinated in the land at the moment. These are some of the reactions trailing that lying drama.

On social media, Odumodug said, “It’s a battle between AjuriNgelale the junior liar Mohammed and Onanuga mr post and delete.”

Obilor Joshua wrote “Confused set of people. See them making a public show of themselves. Everyone wants to be the top man.”

“Ajuri vs Bayo Onanuga, confusion in the camp of the enemy of darkness,” Mo-Mo wrote.

Samuel Omogor wrote, “Please somebody should help me check if high chief AjuriNgelale is anywhere near the NASS Nigeria because the president is already addressing the joint sitting. How did Ajuri, the same guy we all love right from Channels TV get to this point?”

PoliticsNSA Demands Apology From Kano Deputy Gov Over Comment On Ado Bayero’s Return by RabbleRouser(op): 3:07pm On May 26, 2024
Irked by the allegation of facilitating the return of deposed Emir, Ado Bayero to Kano state after he was removed, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has demanded an immediate retraction of the claims and apology from the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussala. Gwarzo.

The retraction and apology is to be published in the media widely according to his lawyers and failure to do this will result in alternative measures as the Deputy governor is covered with immunity to be sued.

This followed comments made by the deputy governor on the situation involving the reinstated Emir Muhammadu Sanusi and Ado Bayero who was dethroned last Thursday and asked to hand over to the Commissioner of Chieftaincy Affairs by Governor Abba Yusuf.

The action of the state governor removing Bayero and four other emirs is in line with the new Kano Emirates Council Law passed by the State House of Assembly.

Speaking on the return of Ado Bayero to Kano after his dethronement in a video, the deputy governor said, “The former Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is not happy with the peace and understanding being enjoyed in Kano and is using the office of the National Security Adviser to deploy security personnel to subvert the will of Kano people and to bring something the people don’t like.

“The National Security Adviser has provided two planes to bring the former Emir to Kano. What we failed to understand is the reason behind his action.

“The intent is to kill and destroy properties because they are not from Kano”. Ribadu who had earlier denied the allegations through his spokesman, Zakari Mijinyawa took a step further to clear his name.

A letter by his lawyers, Aliyu & Musa Chambers said Ribadu has demanded apology from the deputy governor.

It reads, “We act as solicitors to Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, who presently occupies the exalted position of the National Security Adviser (“our client”) and on whose instruction we write this letter.

“The attention of our client was drawn to a video clip being shared on different social media platforms wherein you granted an interview at Emir’s Palace in Kano on Saturday, the 25th day of May 2024, in a very calm atmosphere, and without any provocation whatsoever, falsely accusing our client of using his office to kill the people of Kano State and maim their properties. In the clip, you were shown to be saying in Hausa.

“Your false accusations against our client portraying his office as an appendage of a political party and a willing tool to cause chaos in Kano is false and done with the intention of damaging the hard-earned reputation of our client in the eyes of the right-thinking members of the society and indeed it has succeeded in doing so.

“In all the places he has served, our client has never been accused of any wrongdoing. Given this illustrious background, it is inconceivable that someone would harbour the thought that our client would descend his exalted office so low as to interfere in the local tussle of the Kano Emirate.

“The wide coverage you gave your interview has caused serious embarrassment to our client and his family. Since the publication, our client has been receiving barrage of telephone calls both within and outside Nigeria from friends and associates who felt disappointed in him because of the false allegation owing to the fact that it came from a person occupying the office of Deputy Governor of Kano State.

“Our client and his office take your allegations seriously and by this letter, our client is demanding that you that you provide irrefutable evidence to substantiate your claims. If you have no proof, our client demands you to within 24 hours:

“i. retract the libelous allegation in a similar manner you made it as well as give it wide media circulation; and

“ii. issue a public apology in five National dailies with wide national coverage and on popular online platforms. Note that if you fail to do so, our client will be compelled to seek redress in a court of law.”

PoliticsONSA Denies Facilitating Return Of Deposed Emir Of Kano, Ado Bayero by RabbleRouser(op): 10:23pm On May 25, 2024
By Kingsley Omonobi

The Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) has refuted claims that the NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, facilitated the return of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, to the ancient city on Saturday.

Spokesman of ONSA, Zakari Mijinyawa who made this known in Abuja on Saturday said, the allegation is false and untrue.

Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo had accused the NSA of facilitating the return of the dethroned emir to Kano after he was given 48 hours to vacate the throne

In a brief video interview at the Emir’s palace in Gidan Rumfa, Gwarzo had claimed that the NSA arranged for two aircraft to transport the sacked monarch back to the state.

Recall that the deposed emir reportedly returned to Kano city at 4.30am on Saturday thereby causing apprehension in the state

Mijinyawa disclosed that the office of the NSA did not provide the aircraft that returned Ado Bayero to the state

Mijinyawa urged politicians to be mindful of their utterances, as they may jeopardize security agencies’ efforts to maintain peace in the state

He said, “I read the comments on social media, it is untrue. The NSA did not provide air transport to anyone to Kano.

“Political actors should desist from misinforming the public as law enforcement officials in the state strive to maintain peace and order,”

Governor Abba Yusuf had reinstated Lamido Sanusi, the 14th Emir of Kano, on Friday, four years after he was removed by the immediate past administration of Abdullahi Ganduje.

Sanusi’s reinstatement followed the repealed state’s Emirate Council Law 2019, which created five emirates councils and five first-class emirs.

Meanwhile, the Federal High Court restrained the state government from implementing the new emirate council law that reinstated Sanusi.

However, the state Police Command has asked the parties involved in the crisis to obey the court order and vowed to maintain peace and order.

PoliticsKano Emirate: I Didn’t Give Any Directive On Reinstatement Of Sanusi – Kwankwaso by RabbleRouser(op): 8:49am On May 25, 2024
The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP and former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso said he didn’t give any directive on reinstatement of HRH Muhammadu Sanusi II as Emir of Kano.

Kwankwaso said he also received the news of the reinstatement of the Emir like every other persons.

The former Minister of Defence stated this in an interview monitored on the BBC Hausa service on Friday.

In his word, “what you saw is what I also saw but I will go to Kano very soon and I will speak with some of the assembly members, especially the speaker, and the Governor on what is happening.

When asked that to many people, a thing of this nature cannot happen without his knowledge as a leader of the party, Kwankwaso said, “Rabiu Kwankwaso has burnt his hands over dictating what to do. We are still with the Governor working together.

“It’s just a matter of offering advice and if you are not asked to, you keep quiet so long things are going right we just pray and hope that they succeed.

“When I said we will revisit the case, I didn’t say the direction to follow. I just said it will be reviewed… When I go there, I will hear what happened and I am sure they will tell me whatever happened and whatever they tell me, we just pray for them. I heard the Assembly members have repealed the law.

“What we were telling them was they should go and investigate whether what happened was done out of goodwill or not. What happened appears to be a vendetta or cheating. It’s just a matter of did Ganduje do right or wrong? It’s not about going against him.

“For those that are looking at it from the perspective of whether it’s going to be tenure-based are somehow right but who started it? When I came back as Governor in 2011;

“…everybody knew that late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, was not supporting us, he was supporting Shekarau but when we got into power we never thought of dethroning him.

PoliticsYusuf Approves Reappointment Of Sanusi, Gives 48hrs To 5 Emirs To Vacate Office by RabbleRouser(op): 6:07pm On May 23, 2024
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, on Thursday, approved the reappointment of Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 14th Emir of Kano.

Yusuf also gave the five former emirs 48 hours to vacate all official residences and hand over former emirate properties to the Commissioner of Local Governments.

Recall that Sanusi fell out with ex-governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and was dethroned.

Ganduje, on December 5, 2019 established Bichi, Gaya, Karaye and Rano emirates from the then Kano Emirate.

Ganduje assented to an amendment to law on October 14, 2020, and signed another amendment on April 11, 2023.

Section 3(1) of the law established five distinct emirates. They include Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya and Karaye.

Kano and Karaye have eight local government areas of jurisdiction each, while Bichi and Gaya emirates share nine local government areas of jurisdiction each.

Meanwhile, Rano Emirate enjoys jurisdiction over 10 local government areas out of the 44 local councils in the state.

However, after assessing the emirates, Kano State House of Assembly, on Thursday, dethroned the five emirs and abolished the five emirates in the state.

PoliticsNDDC Has Collapsed, Now A Cash Cow For Politicians – Wike by RabbleRouser(op): 6:56pm On Nov 06, 2019
By Okafor Ofiebor

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the Niger Delta Development Commission ( NDDC) has collapsed, losing its capacity to deliver development to the Niger Delta.

Speaking during a Courtesy Visit by the interim management committee of NDDC to the Government House Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Governor Wike said that the NDDC has degenerated into a cash cow for politicians

“Those who fought for the establishment of NDDC will weep that the Commission has deviated from its mandate. NDDC has collapsed. NDDC has become a cash cow for politicians.

“NDDC is now a political institution. NDDC stole our money. There was an agreement for the Rivers State Government and NDDC to collaborate for the construction of the Mother and Child Hospital. NDDC refused to pay her counterpart fund. Even the N800 million paid by the Rivers State Government, the NDDC only paid N400m to the contractor and diverted N400 million.

“If they don’t pay our money, we will Institute a legal action against NDDC to retrieve our money,” he said.

He said the immediate past Board of the NDDC expended N10 billion during the 2019 election to stop him from getting a second term, but they failed.

“After the former Board released N10 billion to remove me from office and they failed, they came here for a courtesy visit. I asked them why they refused to partner with states for the development of the Niger Delta,” he said.

Wike informed that it was Niger Delta Governors that demanded the forensic audit of the NDDC because of the massive rot at the commission.

“Niger Delta Governors asked for the forensic audit of the NDDC when we met with the President. We also asked for the setting up of the Board of Governors for NDDC.

“I urge the interim committee to carry out a proper audit. You will meet obstacles, but be determined to do a thorough job,” he said.

He urged the people of the Niger Delta to work in unity to develop the geo-political zone.

On the leadership of NDDC, Wike said that appointment of officials is strictly a function of the Executive Arm of Government. He said no other arm of government can determine who runs the NDDC.

While congratulating the Acting Managing Director of NDDC and members of the interim committee, Wike said he would never be party to any plot to remove a Rivers person from a position of responsibility.

He said despite all the funds pumped into NDDC, the commission has accumulated huge debts with no meaningful projects across the Niger Delta. He regretted that the NDDC has also refused to patronise reputable contractors for projects.

Earlier, the Acting Managing Director of NDDC, Gbene Joi Nunieh said that the Commission is determined to partner with Niger Delta Governors for the development of the region.

She urged the Rivers State Governor to forget the past failures of NDDC and partner with the commission.

The Acting Managing Director sought the assistance of the Governor in the areas of health and education. She said some cottage hospitals completed by the NDDC, have been illegally occupied.

PoliticsHow Maina, Fmr Boss of Pension Reform Became Too Powerful, Untouchable-Vanguard by RabbleRouser(op):
By Urowayino Jeremiah
•And why demystifying him will be herculean, dangerous

News of the arrest and handing over of Abdurasheed Maina, Chairman of the controversial Pension Reform Task Team, PRTT, by the Department of State Services must have been received with both glee and gloom nationwide, for obvious reasons. The man, Maina, a Borno State mandarin, is seen both as a saint and a villain depending on which side of the divide the viewer belongs.

But for many top-ranking and middle-cadre public servants who worked directly or vicariously with him at PRTT under the Jonathan Presidency, Maina is nothing but a generous benefactor who should be cheered while retired Nigerian workers, whose fate remains dimmed after many years of service to the country without their pensions, the man and his activities under the PPRTT should be subjected to serious scrutiny and sanctions applied for causing them untold hardship and pains.

Given the many stories of how Maina ran the PRTT, many Nigerians now see him more of avoidable pain unconsciously thrust on the neck of innocent Nigerian pensioners and their families by a system that fell for his promise of reforming the pension system in Nigeria and plucking the loopholes that had inflicted heavy losses on retirees’ welfare resources and left pensioners sleeping endlessly in government offices and public places waiting for their stipends. In some cases, many of the pensioners died in penury and shame while still waiting for their elusive retirement benefits.

It was in a bid to address these fissures and breathe fresh air into the pension administration system that the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration happily brought Maina to bring his magic wand to bear on the reformation of the process. Before then, Maina had worked quietly at the Customs, Immigration and Prison Pensions Office, CIPPO, as a deputy director from 2008.

In fact, to demonstrate the seriousness with which the Presidency gave to the Maina team, the task force was not only elevated to a Presidential blessing, it was also provided with more than enough goodwill, men and materials to accomplish its set goal, which was primarily to capture all Nigerian workers across the world, establish their pension data and pay them as and when due.

While Maina took up the job in 2008, allegations of wrongdoing against him had already overwhelmed the Presidency and the National Assembly in 2010. By 2013 the whole country had been awash with stories of pension fraud and the need to flush Maina from the post.
The major accusation against Maina by the Senate, led by Senator Alloysious Etok, was that rather than reform the pension system by removing ghost pensioners, he had actually expanded the base with ghost pensioners and used them to commit pension fraud to the tune of N195 billion, something that Maina vehemently denied and in turn accused the lawmakers of demanding N3 billion bribe from him. He said it was because he refused to pay the bribe that the Senators moved against him and he successfully got an order from the court to stop the police from arresting him.

Like a good actor who understands when best to mount the stage to deliver his performance and quit while the ovation is loudest, Maina, understood the Nigerian system very well and knew what to do, when, how and who to deal with in order to get the best result.
He also knew those to avoid in the course of his work. For this reason, he surrounded himself with the top echelon of the security agencies-police, DSS, EFCC, ICPC- and took care of their relationship, while he routinely funded top public officers in the three tiers of the government- Presidency, legislature and the judiciary- the outcome of which made it impossible for the security agencies to move against him despite the barrage of alleged financial wrongdoings against him.

As at the time Maina was made chairman of PRTT, the sum of N24 billion had already been set aside by the federal government in various banks to use and pay the retirees, most of whom had suffered and died in the process of getting their pensions and gratuities without success. But after getting into the office and seeing the huge sums of money at his disposal, Maina, working in league with senior officials of government, appeared to have had a change of mind: It was that change of objective that led to the alleged mismanagement of pension fund under him.

In a damning report prepared by the EFCC marked CR: 3000/EFCC/ABJ/FAFI/VOL.1/238 and dated August 1, 2016, the commission chronicled how top government officials fell over one another to benefit from fraudulent baits allegedly offered them by Maina under the guise of travelling abroad to conduct biometric verification of Nigerian pensioners.

In one of the cases, Maina approved the sum of N36 million for the purpose of the PRTT to travel to New York for the purpose of carrying out biometric verification of pensioners in the United States. But curiously, some top government officials received N3, 286,000 each for the trip, which was never undertaken.

Similarly, on the same list were the names of a Director, who got N2, 838,000 for the phantom trip, another Director General, who was paid N4,854,000, followed by a Director and Assistant Director under him, who also got N2,895,000 and N2,045,000 respectively for the fake trip.

Shortly after that, the same PRTT approved the sharing of another sum of N23 million this time to top government officials for the purpose of travelling to the United Kingdom for the purpose of undertaking biometric verification of pensioners.
Following on the heels of that, Maina also approved the sharing of another sum of N40.6 million to ‘lucky’ top officials to ‘travel to Atlanta in the United States to conduct their own phase of verification of Nigerian pensioners.

For that purpose, a former HoS got N4,854,000, a former top official of the EFCC got N4,854,000, a former Permanent Secretary, State House received N4,086,000, another N2,738,000 was paid to another top official of the EFCC, while three operatives of the commission got N1,482,960 and N2,638,000 respectively.

A staff of the NIA received N 2,638,000 for the trip. The same tactic was used by Maina and his cronies to send teams to ‘South Africa, ‘Ghana’, ‘36 states’ of the federation, ‘zonal levels’ and others to siphon different sums of public funds into their banks accounts in the name of biometric verification.

On the purported trip for verification of pensioners in South Africa, the sum of N18.4million was released by Maina and paid to top government officials, among whom was the Director General of budget, who got N3, 056,000. The sum of N9.1 million was expended as estacode for those who ‘went for verification in Ghana’ out of which a Director of Intelligence was paid the sum of N1,388,000 through his First Bank account while two female staff of EFCC got N1,275,000 each as part of the national cake.

And to capture police pensioners across the states, the sum of N160,471,200 was released and shared to the lucky beneficiaries by Maina. Similarly, for the capturing of biometric data of retirees, Maina shared the sum of N15,477,900 to those who were lucky enough to be selected to go round the six geo-political zones of the country after such data had been captured on state by state basis.

He was also accused in a report by the EFCC to the Attorney General of the Federation, of using fake contract to divert the sum of N2.7 billion, a development that prompted the anti-graft agency to charge some of the contractors and top government officials to court.
The report said in part:”Investigation revealed that Mr. Maina fictitiously owned and operated the following accounts with a bank : Cluster Logistics, Drew Investment & Construction Ltd, Kongolo Dynamics Cleaning Ltd, “Dr” AbduUahi A. Faizal, Nafisatu Aliyu Yeldu and Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina.

“That Analysis of the above listed accounts revealed a total turnover of more than N2.7 billion. It is important to note that 95% of deposits into the fraudulent accounts were cash deposits made by bankers in their own names and other fictitious names.
Beyond the generous ‘sharing’ of pension funds to top government functionaries to curry their favour, Maina was also accused by the anti-graft agency of engaging in contract fraud and diversion of funds through proxies and associates via banks and bureau de change.
The report accused Maina of laundering the sum of N14, 374,236,846.09 between 2008 and 2013 using the following methods, but Maina denied all of them:
*Award of fictitious contracts to cronies – N5, 761,150,608.44
*Payment to ghost pensioners – N829, 902,260.40
*Allowances for non-existing trips – N1, 365,821,942.91
*Purported payment to state pensions boards – N4, 192,825,310.99
*Purported payment to NUP – N2, 290,593,322.35
* Association Of Federal Public Service Retirees (AFPSR) – N253,390,300

Many Nigerians became his beneficiaries while the pensioners got little or nothing. Maina played smart. He used government funds to share to top government officials to curry their favour and they stood up to defend him when he was recommended for sack by the Senate.
It was clear at the time that even the Presidency was handicapped because President Goodluck Jonathan could neither sack nor reprimand the powerful Maina apparently due to conflicting reports from those who praised him for his ‘good deeds and generosity and those who presented him as a ‘villain’ to the Presidency.

At a point in February 2013, the Senate threatened to move against Jonathan for ignoring their resolutions to sack Maina over alleged mismanagement of pension fund. The Inspector General of Police, the DG DSS, the DG NIA, ICPC, EFCC and many other top government officials were confused on how to deal with Maina, having been regular beneficiaries of his ‘inexplicable magnanimity and philanthropy’.
It was at that point that the Senators led by its President, David Mark, asked Jonathan to either stick with Maina and lose their support or sack Maina and earn their support.

Mark said: “If President Jonathan, who, like past presidents, has flouted past resolutions of the Senate without consequences, ignores this one, the senate will “bite”. Mark was clear in his warning, appearing livid during an unusually stormy session.
“The president has a choice between Mr. Maina, accused of unimaginable fraud, and the Senate.
“The executive now has to choose between Maina and the Senate, that is the bottom line. If they choose to go along with Maina, fine, we will react accordingly. And to extend the hand of friendship is the correct thing to do because we must work together. There is no running away from that one. It is a test case. If Maina remains, then the Senate will react appropriately and I don’t think we are neither short of ideas nor are we short of what we want to do. We know the step to take.
“Let me assure you that the Senate has the teeth to bite and it will bite when it is time to bite. Nobody can stop it,” Mark threatened.
The Senate also lashed out at the then Inspector General of Police for claiming that his men could not locate and arrest Maina despite several orders and resolutions from the NASS against the man.

As the Buhari administration dawned, it was expected that the powers of Maina would be curtailed or at least, he would be arrested, tried and demystified but that did not happen apparently because his beneficiaries were still very large and active in the public domain-security agencies, legislature, judiciary inclusive. In fact, it is being speculated that Maina had been enjoying exclusive protection by a top DSS official, who also provided him with a ‘Safe House’ meant for top diplomats and government functionaries.
And when the DSS top brass was asked why his men were protecting Maina from prosecution, he angrily but boastfully replied that he had no knowledge that Maina was wanted by any agency in the country.
Even while they belatedly declared him wanted after failing severally to honour many invitations to clear himself of graft charges, Maina boldly approached a Federal High Court in Abuja and got an order stopping the EFCC from declaring him wanted.

As at the time of his arrest early this week, the only basis of holding out hope is that perhaps powerful government agencies and individuals who were behind him, would see reasons to cooperate with EFCC to charge him to court for him to go there and prove his innocence or otherwise.
But doing so would likely be tough and dangerous for both parties: If Maina opens up on what transpired at the PRTT, many top government officials, who benefitted generously from the largesse, may be swept under and their sources of income torpedoed.

On the other hand, Maina may continue to remain silent and opt for full trial in court, basking in the hope his ‘friends’ would not abandon him at his most crucial moment of need.
There is hope the court may exploit any loophole by EFCC and quash all the charges prepared by the anti-graft against him, just to set Maina free.
Even in the EFCC custody, Maina still remains very powerful and fearsome and indeed a dangerous personality to toy with by an ordinary Nigerian.

Sen. Tinubu to Fashola: You didn’t give me employment slots for my constituency

Senator representing Lagos central, Remi Tinubu has, during the screening of ministerial nominees on Monday, told Babatunde Fashola, a ministerial nominee, that she did not get any employment slot from him during his tenure as Minister of Power, Works and Housing.

Sen. Tinubu said although Fashola is qualified to continue as a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria, the ministries he headed, however, did not favour her constituency in the last four years.

She however, urged Fashola to include it in his agenda this time that he would alot employment slots to her constituency.
According to her, “My only addition is that during your first tenure, I remember I didn’t get any chance to give employment letter to my constituency.
“So, when you get there this time, just remember Senators here that have people back home. My constituents are asking us for employment slots. So, I want you to put that in your agenda for next tenure.

“We all need slot for employment for our constituents,” she said.
