The police in Plateau have arrested a 30 -year-old banker and native of Ganawuri Village in the state, who allegedly killed his younger brother over an argument on a football match . The suspect allegedly murdered George Mang , 29 , over an argument they had concerning a football match on May 12 . ACP Augustine Girma , who confirmed the incident in Jos , however , said that the suspect was on bail based on medical grounds . Girma of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Police Command, said the suspect ’ s counsel, Mr David Adudu, had tendered a medical report on the health status of his client . He said the lawyer had asked that the suspect be released on bail to get immediate medical attention . Girma said the lawyer had noted that the place his client was being held did not have the necessary facilities for him to get medical treatment. The attention of Management has been drawn to pieces of information purportedly issued by the University regarding cut-off points for courses as well as other unsubstantiated claims about the 2017/18 admission exercise. For the avoidance of doubt, Management wishes to inform all prospective applicants and the general public that the admission process in the University has not yet started. They are, therefore, advised to dismiss all such claims and be on the look-out for information on the commencement of the exercise. Any candidate who transacts business with unscrupulous elements who are out to defraud them does so at his/her own risk. Furthermore, candidates who applied for Pharmacy in the University are reminded to either change their course or Institution as the course is not on offer for the 2017/18 session. The only authentic website of the University from which information on the admission exercise could be obtained is www.ui.edu.ng . Please beware. |

TheHistorian: Using last year's Point grading model, you have a total aggregate of 74.16(not bad).
Unfortunately,MBBS cut off for last year was 76.75 which is higher than your present aggregate. With the excellent and outstanding results of students in UTME and WASSCE this year,I dont think the cut off mark can reduce.Best is to remain that way.
I'd advise you switch to other disciplines from the college of Medicine as a precautionary move to forestall any possible regrets.You might want to consider;;
Dentistry 64.29 Physiotherapy 66.95 MLS 65.20 Nursing 67.00 Biochemistry 58.66 Physiology 57.79
tnk you which one can I switch to and I will be able to cross to medicine in 200level |

Crime › I Was Fair To All My Victims Except One Man - Notorious Kidnapper Evans by rafo200(op): 7:48am On Jun 29, 2017 |
Evans, the notorious kidnapper, says he was fair to all victims of his kidnap except for Mr Cosmos Ojukwu - He said he treated the man unfairly because the man paid his demand swiftly - He however claimed he does not use bank in transacting his kidnap business Notorious kidnapper, Chukwudimeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans has insisted that he was fair to all his victims despite the public perception of him. According to the billionnaire kidnapper, he was unfair to only one of his victims. He also insisted that he does not collect ransome using banks because he could be traced easily. He said: "I don’t collect ransom abroad. I don’t give bank account to my victims because it could be traced. Whoever made the allegations that he paid part of his ransom in South Africa isn’t sincere. I would have been arrested and they should bring the account number they paid the money into. READ ALSO: 23 states currently owing workers' salaries, number of months being owed "The Interpol can trace the account and know the owner. I collect my ransom in Nigeria and after collecting it, I also do not travel abroad. I usually ask the people keeping my victims to tell them that I have traveled abroad. He said he treated the man unfairly because the man paid his demand swiftly He said he treated the man unfairly because the man paid his demand swiftly "I usually call my victims’ relatives with my satellite phones and inform them that I was out of the country. This would make them relax a little and after some time, I will ask my boys to release the victims and drop them where they could locate their people.” "I was fair to my victims." Going further, he said the only wrong things he did to his victims was to chain, blindfold and detain them for months. According to him, this was in efforts for them to meet his demand. He insisted that the only victim treated wrongly by him was Mr. Cosmos Ojukwu, who he said he collected an extra sum of $200,000 from after receiving an initial payment of $1million. “After he paid the $1million I demanded swiftly than I expected more. I informed him while he was being released that I would be collecting another ransom from him. I told him he would have to pay me an additional $200,000 because the $1 million he gave me earlier were in old currencies. PAY ATTENTION: Read the news on Nigeria’s #1 news app "I asked him to bring my balance. He felt I was joking, then I informed him that I was not just going to kidnap him again, but would hunt his entire family. He panicked and called me that he had raised the money. I asked him to bring the money to Awka. "When he got there I asked him to lodge in a hotel, he obeyed me. At night I asked to bring the money to where I was. He obeyed me and paid me the money. From that time I left him alone.’’ Meanwhile, security agencies in Bayelsa state seem to have identified the gun supplier of alleged notorious billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeje Onwuamadike, aka Evans. Evans, who has been making useful confessions since his arrest had named one Suoyo as one of the active members of his gang, who was tasked with buying arms and ammunition, for their operations. He said: “When Suoyo, who lives in Bayels state, called me and expressed fears, I also assured him that nothing was going to happen. I told him I was making plans for another operation and needed him to go into the creeks and buy a new set of arms and ammunition.Chukwudubem Onwuamadike popularly knows as Evans after he was recently nabbed by men of the Nigeria Police Force.continue reading at www.presentdays..com

Education › Re: I Scored 260 In JAMB, Can I Get Medicine In University Of Ibadan? by rafo200(op): 7:05am On May 20, 2017 |
bayooooooo: I think you need to sort out your WASSCE before applying to UI, or any school for that matter.
DON'T change your course from Medicine to any of the following: 1. Chemistry 2. Zoology 3. Microbiology
There is a high chance you won't be allowed to cross from those disciplines to College of Medicine. Once a zoologist, always a zoologist. Chemistry do allow people to cross, but it DEPENDS on the disposition of the HOD; this is also applicable to microbiology. But it is extremely rare to cross from zoology to medicine.
The following courses will allow you to cross to medicine: Biochemistry Physiology Human Nutrition
Why? They are all in College of Medicine or Faculty of Basic Basic Medical Sciences, and once the provost endorses your form, I don't think any HOD can hold you back. Besides, there is a history of students crossing from those courses to Medicine.
Now, many candidates with high scores who can't get to medicine would change to Physiology or Biochemistry, which in turn makes the two disciplines competitive through change of course route. Your best bet is to change to Human nutrition and then read well in 100 level. Basically if you have a CGPA of 6.0 (First Class), you can be guaranteed of crossing but mostly a 5.5 (comfortable 2:1) is good enough to cross but there is no guarantee.
You will need the following courses to cross (4 chemistry courses, 5 physics courses and 3 zoology courses): CHE 195 (Practical Chemistry, 2 Units)-- very easy to get an A (7.0) CHE 177 Organic Chemistry, 3 units CHE 157 Physical Chemistry, 4 units (legendary CHE 157) CHE 127 Inorganic Chemistry, 3 units
PHY 112 (Basic Principles of Physics II, 3 units) PHY 113 (Basic Principles of Physics III, 3 units) PHY 114 (Basic Principles of Physics I, 3 units) PHY 115 (Basic Principles of Physics IV, 3 units) PHY 118 (Experimental Physics I, 3 Units)-- many people usually find this difficult. Each experiment is graded (each time you go to the lab is more or less taking an exam) and is based on a law of physics. So read your manual and know why the experiment is needed. You are trying to validate a constant/or a principle, by plotting data generated during the lab work. You can always tell if your slope or constant is way off if you have a sound knowledge of the experimental principle
ZOO 111 (Principles of Animal Biology, 3 units)--more or less a glorified biology. You have to take it seriously if Chiaka is one of the lecturers. ZOO 112 (The Mammalian Body, 3 units) ZOO 113 (Diversity of Animal Life, 3 units)--this is a second semester course, and is by far the toughest of the three. It requires a lot of reading, drawing and cramming. It has a practical component too. Different animal kingdoms etc.
You will also take other courses like the GES (general studies 101, 102, 103 or 105), bio-statistics etc but your chances of 'crossing' to medicine rest squarely on the 12 courses. i.e. those 12 courses, not the overall CPGA, are evaluated for change of course purposes. If you intend to change to pharmacy, you would need to register for some botany courses.
Generally, the easiest route to UI medicine is to put any of the three courses especially Human Nutrition as first choice, and then apply to change to medicine after 100 level. pls send ur number through d email |
