Haykay2001: During my research, I discovered a solar-powered freezer that I believe would be ideal for my customer's ice block production business, enabling them to manufacture ice blocks for sale. Attached is the picture.
Has anyone had hands-on experience with this solar freezer? I've learned that it can operate on both AC and solar power, which is convenient. However, my client's specific requirement is a freezer capable of producing ice blocks, and I'd love to hear from someone with practical experience in this area.
A few weeks ago, we purchased a Hisense chest freezer, which unfortunately turned out to be a disappointing investment. Despite running it for three days, it failed to produce a full ice block, falling short of our expectations.
I'm seeking recommendations for a reliable freezer specifically designed for ice block production, beyond homemade solutions. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.
Will be waiting in the comment section. Thanks all Don't waste your hard earned money on any sokar freezer if you want to venture into iceblock production. If you want to start on a small scale, go and get tokunbo standing freezers (Liebherr brand or any german product) If on a much larger scale, get a reliable technician to fabricate iceblock machines for you. this will require compressor of 2Hp and above. |

You can consider one Bro, pls can you give more details about your setup and the kind of infrared cooker in use. How many watts do you cook with and are they very efficient? |

na wa ooo! bassdow: To know what Capacity of charge Controller required for your Solar Panels ,
you take Total wattage of your Solar Panels, and divide by capacity of your Battery Bank.
Since your inverter Capacity is 3KVA which from our sipmple maths, and using 300w Solar Panel, we got at least 10-Solar Panels.
Since we have 10pcs of 300w solar panels, we do 10 * 300 = 3,000
Let's now assume we intends using 2pcs of 200AH batteries in series, which gives us 24-volts, then we do 3000 / 24 = 125A. You then have to get a charge controller of at least 125A or higher
Mind you, the 2pcs of 12v battery I stated, is just for example.
Note that should you have Solar Panels in Series & Parallel, your target is wattage of the Series connection. |

earthrealm: the pack is likely a locally made pack?..its either wrongly badged or defective/unbalanced cells are inside.
do you have access to communicate with the internal bms?
the 350w load shud have done 7 to 8hrs., while the 250w should have done 10 to 11hrs...it did 9.5hrs...fair enough.
is the pack sealed?..can u send a picture of the internals..if possible Oga earthrealm, the pack is a DIY pack which was locally made by me with a cheap BMS slapped on it to test. The cells are fairly balanced but what am not clear with is battery is fairly ok with non inductive load but performs poorly on inductive loads. What could be the issue? |

Please i need clarification on how best to carry out a capacity test.
I ran two sample capacity test on 3.12KWH lithium ion pack
Test 1: Inductive load using freezer consuming 350W lasted for 4hrs(battery was on 23.6V but when load is off, battery goes back to 25.6V)
Test 2: Non inductive load of 250W lasted for 9.5hrs(battery was on 23.9V but when load is off, battery goes back to 24.6V)
How best can i deduce battery capacity since am yet to get a coulomb counter. |

ojeysky: For me I prefer to set-up a small backup system for normal inverter freezer of known brands. I have not seen any DC solar fridges that is of known brands. I also like the flexibility that I can easily put on my gen to power my AC fridge/freezer when the sun is not smiling. Ultimately I don't see much motivation for a dedicated DC solar fridges/freezer Thank you for your input. Setting up a backup system for normal inverter freezer might not be cost effective for me since i have sorted my essential power needs already (all lightings are on DC and other appliances are energy efficient powered with a small inverter setup) Am still eyeing the Bona Freezer which can work on DC/AC(using an adapter) but i need reliable feedback from end users and not from marketers |

wilmaria14: all solar freezer are self run because it have his own inbuilt inverter so if u are buying it u will need to buy at list 300w panel From 100ah battery up And pwm 50amp cc to work
Or better still u tap from ur existing power bank to feed it Thank you for your input and i quite understand your explanations but i am much interested in its performance/efficiency |

Please does anyone has any experience using solar freezers? I have sorted most of my essential power needs but i need a freezer that can work on a low budget off-grid. Also note, i don't intend to upgrade my existing setup because all my lightings and some appliances runs on DC. I only want to run a good solar freezer(for madam) during the afternoon. cc: NiyiOmoIyunade, ojeysky, kiekie1, olopan, earthrealm, Saipro and other gurus in the house |

rajo4real: Honest advice needed pls... I have a client that wants to replace 8 pcs of 200AH GEL batteries @ 48V.
Is it advisable to switch to lithium? What capacity of lithium is ideal? Which other brand is available in market apart from Felicity that will not require breaking the bank.
Thank you. Help... |

NiyiOmoIyunade: I have purchased the 150W flood lights from JustCallMenuel.
For testing, I used them at full (strength) illumination and they lasted all through the night and did not go dim at all.
If they keep up that performance for 3 years or more, then I consider them a good purchase indeed. Thank you |

ojeysky: I use the 200w and it works perfectly! Not had any issues with it and it's very bright. It lasts overnight though I use a "mild to full" settings (the light comes brighter when it senses close proximity to an object and goes dim thereafter) Thank you |
