The claim is not "universally clear" as you claim. The rankings can be loosely interpreted to mean either a denotation of excellence (as in first, 3rd best, or 27th best), or a representation of relative age. We need to be sure what they really mean before we begin to accuse them of misrepresenting facts. Lol.

In both cases the claim is wrong.
Education / Re: First Professor Of Math In Nigeria: Ezeilo Or Olubummo? by Ramon2: 12:28pm On Aug 18, 2013
Okay! Ezeilo and Olubummo were probably very good friends. but for the purpose of Fani Kayode and his Igbo-Yoruba comparative analysis, we need to sort out who was first to become a professor

Both became professors in the same year 1964, but who was first?
Education / Re: First Professor Of Math In Nigeria: Ezeilo Or Olubummo? by Ramon2: 12:28pm On Aug 18, 2013
Chike Obi, Ezeilo, and Olubummo were the first three PhD holders in Math in Nigeria, Obi got the degree first in 1950, but got to became a prof much later in 1970 than the others because he got into politics

As a child of parents of high honor, he received an excellent education at Methodist schools in which he worked (Ifaki Methodist School) as a pupil teacher in 1937. All three of Adegoke Olubummo's children are mathematicians. His daugher Yewande Olubummo is currently in the U..S. as an assistant professor of mathematics at Spelman College.

In 1938, at the age of 14, Olubumo entered Wesley College in Ibadan. In 1942 he returned to his alma mater as ateacher, and for thenext few years taught at primary and secondary schools in Nigeria, Ghana (then the Gold Coast), and Sierra Leone. He earned is B.A. from Fourah College in Freetown Sierra Leone (1950).

Adegoke Olubummo earned his M.A. in Mathematics (1952) and his Ph.D. (1955) from King's College, University of Durham in Castle-Upon-Tyne, United Kingdom. In 1955, he began as a lecturer in the mathematics department the University College, Ibadan, Nigeria where he was promoted to (Full) Professor in 1964. Dr. Olobummo was head of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Ibadan for many years, where he was determined to create qualitative traditions in spite of the handicaps of development in a young African university. In 1985 he retired from the University of Ibadan, and became Dean of the Faculty of Science of Ondo State University.

Dr. Adegoke Olubummo, with James Ezeilo and Chike Obi, was one of a trio of black (indigenous) mathematicians who pioneered modern mathematics research in Nigeria. He pioneered the establishment of the Forum for Functional Analysis and its Applications and the Nigerian Mathematical Society. Many of his Ibadan students went off to earn the doctorate in mathematics; e.g., T. O. Adewoye, Olusola Akinyele, S. K. Assiamous, V. A. Babola, the Senator S. O. Iyahen, E. O. Oshabi, and O. Popoola.

No amount of intimidation from Fashola will stop me from fighting for ndi igbo – Orji Kalu
Orji-kaluFormer Governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu said his resolve to drag Governor Babatunde Fashola to court for deporting Igbo Indigenes is reason why the Lagos State Government sealed off his Ikoyi Home.
Orji Kalu in an interview with Pointblanknews.com vowed that no amount of intimidation by the Lagos Government would stop him from fighting any injustice against the Igbo people.

“When I said I vowed to take him to court over his deportation of Ndi Igbo from Lagos, he told some people that he would seal my house for threatening to take him to court,” the former Governor told Pointblanknews.com from the United States.

According to him, “no amount of intimidation from him or any person will stop me from fighting for justice for Ndi Igbo.”

Kalu had stated that there was no law in the country, which empowers a state or governor to deport any Nigerian to any part of the country. Besides, the former governor argued that it was an open secret that the Igbo contribute about 55% to the Lagos economy.

The Oyo State Police Command yesterday paraded a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, for allegedly kidnapping a two-year-old girl.

Addressing newsmen at Eleyele headquarters of the command, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Mohammed Indabawa said the suspect was arrested following a distress call and he was immediately trailed into the bush, where he was apprehended. He said items recovered from the suspect include, one jack knife, one face cap, one cable wire, a pair of the victim's sandals and a LAUTECH identity card.

Speaking with newsmen, the suspect, Tosin (24), who claimed to be studying Electrical-Electronics at the institution, confirmed that he committed the crime with the intention of collecting N700,000 ransom.

Also recovered were improvised explosive devices and allied materials found along Podo-Ijebu-Ode axis of the state.

The police boss explained that on August 11 at about 3:15a.m, along Podo-Ijebu-Ode, a police team intercepted a taxi with three occupants, whom they told to stop but the driver sped off.

He stated that: "After a hot chase of the occupants of a Nissan Sunny car painted in Ogun State commercial colour, the occupants escaped into a nearby bush while the vehicle was abandoned."

He said after a check of the vehicle, police discovered cartons of explosives powder, two cartons of solar detonating cords and 16 bundles of ten wires each of delay detonator wires.

"It was also discovered that the Nissan Sunny car with Ogun State commercial colour had two registration numbers of Ogun-XC XFR AKM and AL 831 LUY.

" A diligent investigation into the recovery revealed that the explosives were stolen from Express Quarry at Toll-Gate on August 8, this year and efforts are on to arrest the fleeing thieves," the police commissioner said.

Mukina2

Clap for yourself for the ''exposure'' (note exposure in quotes). Indeed, you sound, look, very fo-olish. You expect me to get banned - when I defend my people from the onslaught of timid fellows - and then sit back and watch you Yoruba goats run amock unchecked? You expect that I will not register with a new name and return fire? You leave Ileke Idi (FL GATOR), Eku Bear, Aigbofa and others to use double ids at the same time to denigrate my people and I or other Igbos should not do the same? Even I, I never post with two names at the same time. I get banned, I come back with a new name. All those names you mentioned are in the past, banned by you and those before you. Many of them so in the past that I do no even remember them. So your so called ''exposure'' was nothing but wasted time.

What I say on cyberspace, I have always said in life fora. Some of those who know me in real life can attest to that. I write in the newspapers with my real names and I say my mind. You, Mukina2 are too small a fry to determine for me what to do.

So take your silly exposure and shove it down your throat. You can ban Ramon2, but I will be back.

grin grin grin grin My brother, this is the best way to disintegrate nigeria without war.

To fight war, you need money. If the yoriobos are allowed to loot nigeria dry to the 'bone marrow' any group can then seperate as there will be no money for nigeria to wage war on that particular seceding group. cool

Correct. I will develop a proposal on that. grin grin grin grin grin grin
