PoliticsRe: Nigeria Must Invest Heavily In The North To Overcome Insecurity, Poverty – Obi by Raph82(m): 8:59am On Apr 09, 2024
North has the highest number of Nigerian billionaires who are oil magnates,
They own the larger parts of our oil wells,
They enjoy quota system, thereby making them the most favourite for federal employments
The majority of federal government projects go to them.
In agriculture, they have majority of the federal government irrigation programme.
They benefited the social intervention fund more than any other region of the country.
What investment is Peter Obi talking about again?
If other tribes enjoy half of the attention given to the north, we would have moved forward than this.
My take : let every region go its separate way.
Enough of parasitism.

At least something is being done to mitigate the effect of the harsh weather. For more effectiveness, the government should make provision for a chopper to air-spray chilled water. It will fall like rain.

I've been saying it, now you have said it. It's jealousy. The fact is an ordinary blue collar worker makes more money, and enjoys a better quality of life than, these "big boys" in naija, who are nothing abroad honestly............
My brother, there's nothing any of them can say that will hold water, the fact is obvious, blue-collar jobs in developed countries are miles apart from white collar jobs here. I have some1driving company truck in the US who has a modern bakery in Ondo town. Every thing in that place is automated. The factory is solely using transformer that a whole street will be struggling to have in five good years. This same man has 5-star hotel, car stand and several other businesses here, a driver. To hell with bank manager here.

The Buhari administration made a grave mistake by banning food importation for local production. Even developed nations do import foodstuff heavily. If stopping food import is the solution to boosting local production, how come we are worse than before in terms of food production?

Oga shift one side

So we are brought to earth in order to spend 70 to 100 years preparing for heaven right ??

If you don’t make it on earth , it’s even more likely you won’t make heaven .

You are beginning to disgust me . Trying hard to normalize being broke and positioning making heaven as the ultimate.

I have not made money and no amount of your preaching can make me justify being broke .

You claim your father is the king, he owns heaven and earth and everything in it , yet you are comfortable being broke and gets your satisfaction from singing his praise

This is the way to go as a public office holder, in order to build public confidence, trust, transparency and accountability in your leadership.

It reminds me of late president Umaru Musa Yar’adua. The first Nigerian President to publicly declare his assets.
Dont know why people are so obsessed with asset declaration. Does it stop politicians from siphoning with big hose? No, so what's the fuse?

TravelRe: Finally Migrated To Australia At Age 48. This Is My Story So Far by Raph82(m):
VAPatrick:
Someone who hasn't travelled outside Nigeria will never understand. There is no basis for comparison between Nigeria and a developed country. In terms of everything, I mean everything, countries like Australia, UK and Canada are way ahead of Nigeria. Having said that, the decision to relinquish one's job as a manager in Nigeria for a low level job (e.g. forklift operator) in Australia is personal, which we should all respect. Besides, no one migrates with the primary objective of taking up a cleaning or fork lift operator job. For most people already at the middle or top level of their careers, they take up these jobs to survive, pending when they land their ideal jobs.

For me, if I am to choose between being a bank manager in Nigeria and forklift operator in Australia, I'll go with the latter. As a forklift operator in Australia, I will live a good life and provide a better future for my children. Even if I decide to return to Nigeria after 25 to 30 years, I'll live very comfortably, far better than I would have, had I been a bank manager.

To reiterate, no basis for comparison, and respect people's decisions. Shalom!
Nairaland has always been a faceless forum. All these people criticizing other people's decisions, deep within them, they know what they're passing through, they only come here to pretend as if all is well, all is not well with them, because the economic & security situations here is so volatile and unstable. U can not predict what tomorrow may bring.
* If Nigerians living in Australia cannot afford flight ticket to fly to naija, then I wonder where my cousin is getting the money to fly to Naija often for the Holy Ghost night at the RCCG camp. She's the church type.
* Some of them were furious about the fact that a cleaner or factory worker in Australia is by far living a better life than a bank manager in Naija, isn't it the naked truth? How come bank managers took advantage of the Emefiele's policies that time to defraud the system and pack their families abroad to start new life? We were all here when it happened. If they were comfortable with life, they won't take such actions. Former CMD at OAUTH relocated abroad with his family without second thought.
* One was talking of retirement at 60 or so in Nigeria, what is even the average life expectancy of Nigerians? 54years, how many Nigerians manage to get to 60 or 65 years before their health begins to fail them?

I said this a few days ago, how can they be keeping 10 aircrafts? I would applaud him if he could encourage total downsizing. BAT himself has between 2 to 4 aircrafts before assuming power, what stops him from making use of his private aircrafts for state affairs? The government should only maintain them, while all the money-consuming aircrafts in the presidential fleet are sold off to cut costs.

Another news to confirm that Nigeria will work again. Gradually, we are getting there. Life needs to be given a value by setting standards Oyo state needs to follow suit. Many of the buses being used for commercial stuff cannot be used to transport goats from one location to another in South Africa, because they have standards.

I see things working again in Nigeria. Irrespective of who is involved, human rights will come to stay and every Nigerian will be proud to be a citizen of Nigeria. By that time, America will not be scared to declare Nigeria as the giant of the black race.

5-10 years too long...more like in 3-6months, except both refineries truly come on stream within the next 6 months

I'm particularly waiting to see it touch below 1k so I can load up as much as I can for the next 'bull run', cos I'm not optimistic about those refineries one bit, not with all the falsehood. Dec 2023 they said, na March 2024 ending we dey so, we no see even refined palm oil comot from any of the two that were hyped as ready to go.
U"ll be shocked and disappointed when u see naira failing to obey the rule of the game (bull run). The moment it crosses the 1k bench mark, then the downtrend will continue, this time with a heavy downward spike. There may be little retracement, continuation of downtrend is inevitable. It's no longer business as usual. Therefore u buy, u cry.
