The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, on Monday, marked the 30th anniversary of the death of football star, Samuel Okwaraji, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV reports that Okwaraji died while playing for Nigeria at the National Stadium, Surulere, August 12, 1989.

NFF shared a video in memory of the late footballer, in a tweet obtained by Igbere TV from @theNFF.

“We still feel and respect the labours of our heroes past, and we want to say today, being the 30th year that Late Okwaraji passed on while playing, we still feel the sacrifice and patriotism that he showed, playing for this great country. And we have learnt great lessons from that patriot, even as we continue to use his attitude to guide young talents”, Amaju Pinnick, president of NFF said in the video.

“It’s been 30 years since this real and true Nigerian Patriot passed on while on duty for the country. Keep resting in peace, Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji. #WeRememberSam”, the tweet further read.

Apart from being a footballer, who played for Nigeria, Okwaraji was also a lawyer who had Masters in International Law from the Pontifical Lateran University, Rome.

Born on May 19, 1964, Okwaraji died on the field after suffering heart attack, as the Ambulance brought in to evacuate him reportedly refused to start.

It's already 30yrs. The man with dreadlocks. He is worth being remembered. I remember watching the match wen he slumped and d technical crew rushed in. It's so sad his life came to a halt at dat moment on d field. Commendations to the NFF for this.

I attended boarding secondary school but will say that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. I started traveling alone at the age of 11 to Delta State in an era of no GSM. My mother would cry and my dad would say "let them see the real world". It gives a great level of Independence and firmness that carries you through life.

Stubbornness in your context I suppose is being firm.
I will advise a Federal Government College because they meet children from every class .

Bear in mind and I will quote from the Bible"bring up your child in the way of the Lord so that they will not depart from it when they grow old". If u have met up with this, then you have less fear of him turning wayward.

The 1st advice to your child is to join and be active in the Christian or Muslim body. He/She will be tagged as "Jew". Shld he/she digress, they will win them back.

Life comes with challenges and you cannot be there always to decide for them. Pray for them always, try to know the names of their friends and about them when they return on holiday. Ask questions because they know what you feel they don't. This will help you know their level of exposure and how to guide further.

May God guide our decisions towards raising quality children.

It's so pathetic how we condemn a person with unfair judgements especially on her bday. Clearly reading her tweet, she appreciated God for his blessings and even greatly.
Examine urselves and you'll find that all you wish for, haven't been met. Time is all it takes. I pray God's promises in her life be fulfilled and dat of us all. Amen
