Inflammation and congestion of the sinuses – known collectively as a sinus infection – can have a wide variety of causes including indoor and outdoor airborne allergens, as well as dietary irritants like dairy, gluten, and artificial additives. Western medicine treats sinus infections with antibiotics, steroids, anti-inflammatory medication, and in some cases, surgery. Most of these methods have high potential to be more harmful than not. Here we offer a three-step process, comprising 14 powerful natural remedies, to cure a sinus infection naturally, often with items already present in your home. Part I: Treat the Symptoms Though it is always more important to cure the underlying sickness rather than treat the symptoms, let’s face it: When you have a sinus infection, your number one concern is feeling better. So before you try to focus on boosting your immune system and removing the causal factors of your sinus infection, let’s work on treating the symptoms. Stay Hydrated Drink plenty of water, no sugar added juices, clear broth, and hot tea. These fluids will help to thin out mucus and help to drain it from irritated sinuses. Avoid drinking alcohol, caffeine, and sugary beverages, as well as from smoking. All of these substances will dehydrate your system causing mucus to thicken and clog already inflamed airways. Dissolve Excess Mucus Spicy foods such as cayenne pepper or horseradish can be mixed with apple cider vinegar and lemon juice to create a mucus dissolving elixir. Pressure Point Activation For temporary relief of closed nasal passages when none of these other options are available to you, try a quick face massage. These five quick steps take less than two minutes to perform and, when done correctly, will allow you to breath more easily. Steam Inhalation Break up thick mucus with a few drops of Eucalyptus or Peppermint oil in hot water. With your face down over the water, drape a towel over the back of your head and inhale the steam. This also works with a few drops of either oil added to the water in a humidifier. Some of these machines actually have a small tank included for just such a thing. Salt Water Rinse If you are prone to sinus infections and you don’t have a Neti pot , you’ll want to get one. This handy little device makes it easy to irrigate your nasal cavity, clearing out unwanted mucus and any inhaled contaminants that may be caught in there. Use your Neti pot twice a day for optimum relief! Grapefruit Seed Extract Grapefruit seed extract (GSE) is a natural antibiotic made from grinding dried grapefruit seeds and pulp into a fine powder. When administered in nasal spray form (such as this one), GSE helps to clear out mucus and may prevent other microbial contaminants from taking root in weakened and inflamed sinus tissues. Turmeric / Ginger Root Turmeric root is a wonderful, fragrant spice commonly found in Indian and some Middle eastern dishes. Not only does Turmeric contain the natural anti-inflammatory curcumin, this spice is also an anti-oxidant. When combined with spicy ginger root and brewed for hot tea, this combination can help loosen mucus from clogged nasal passages, alleviate sinus pressure, and make you feel better all around. Ginger root also has the added bonus of calming an upset stomach – a frequent side-effect of excessive nighttime sinus drainage. Apple Cider Vinegar Two or three tablespoons of raw, unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar added to a cup of hot water or tea taken three times daily will help thin out excessive mucus relieving congestion an sinus pressure. Mix with lemon and honey or Stevia to taste. Apple cider vinegar is a wonderful natural ingredient with a huge array of health benefits. Part II: Boost Your Immune System There are several natural methods you can use to fortify your immune system. Vitamin C Available as caplets, liquid, chewables (as well as some other forms),Vitamin C is perhaps the most popular over-the-counter immune booster. Studies have shown us that Vitamin C helps the body to resist immune system deficiencies and improves overall health. For the best vitamin absorption, choose a supplement containing Acerola. Fermented Cod Liver Oil Fermented Cod Liver Oil (FCLO) is rich in vitamins A and D, as well as Omega-3 fatty acids. The fermentation process by which this oil is extracted from the cod livers does not damage the nutrients, making the health benefits of this super-supplement a long list, indeed. Some of those include the ability to clarify skin conditions, balance mood and hormones, and remedy auto-immune disorders. For more information on FCLO, check out this great article. Oregano Oil Just a few drops of oregano oil in a cup of juice, water, or tea each day can make a huge positive impact on your health. Not only does Oregano oil have anti-biotic, anti-viral, and anti-fungal properties when taken internally, it can also used topically to fight cold sores, nail fungus, and dandruff among other things. Oregano oil may also be steam-inhaled as an alternative to ingestion (though some may not like the smell as much as peppermint or eucalyptus.) Part III: Eliminate Possible Causes If you experience frequent sinus infections or nasal irritation, there may be underlying environmental or dietary factors at work. Here are a few possible culprits and the simple solutions to eliminate them. Indoor Airborne Allergens Animal dander, dust, mold spores, and pollen are the most common airborne irritants that cause sinus inflammation and congestion. The easiest solution for this problem is to upgrade your air filter. Also, make sure to change the filter at least once per month. Mark your calendar on the day you change the filter or write the date somewhere on the out-facing side of your new filter before it is installed. Keep your pets outside, or at least make sure that they are bathed and/or brushed often. Vacuum at least once per week – more often if you have pets inside. Sometimes indoor allergens hide in your air ducts. Attach cheese cloth to the outside of air vents to act as a filter. Not only will this prevent allergens from circulating through your home, it will also show you what might need to be cleaned out of your air system. Get an air purifier for the room(s) where you spend the most time. These devices circulate the air in a room through a HEPA filter and an ionizer to remove most common allergens. Alternately, you can use an Activated Charcoal filter to clean the air in your home, or invest in a beautiful Himalayan salt lamp. Find out how a Himalayan salt lamp can help reduce indoor air allergens and pollutants, plus so much more in this wildly popular article. Outdoor Airborne Allergens Pollen, smog, and car exhaust are some common outdoor irritants. If you know you will be exposed to any of these allergens, consider wearing a mask to keep them out of your airways. Drive with the windows up and set your car ventilation system to circulate so you don’t bring allergens from outside into the cab where you will inhale them. Dietary Irritants Food allergies and sensitivities such as those to gluten, dairy, and sugar can cause sinus infections. Try eliminating these foods from your diet if you experience frequent sinus problems. Of course, you don’t have to follow every part of each of the three steps. Try one or two items from each list to see what works best for you. When you find the right equation you will know as your headaches and stuffy nose fade away. Then you can finally take the box of tissue off of the bedside table and say goodbye to sinus infections for good! http://www.naturallivingideas.com/14-natural-sinus-infection-remedies/ |

Spice up your 8 glasses per day of water with a slice or two of cucumber. It's wonderfully refreshing, but there are amazing benefits to cucumber as well. Cucumbers are cooler than you think ... SHARE THIS AWESOME INFORMATION 1. Fat busting: Do you ever wonder why women put cucumbers on their eyes to relieve puffiness? The photochemical in cucumbers makes the collagen in your skin tighten, thus the lack of puffiness. Did you know that you can rub a cucumber on a problematic spot of cellulite anywhere on your body to lessen the visibility of it? Did you also know that it has the same effect on wrinkles? Wow, it makes purchasing those fifty dollar creams seem a little silly, doesn’t it? You can also rub a little bit under your kiddo’s eyes after a long bout of crying to avoid that puffy ‘I cried for an hour straight’ look. 2. Defogger: Do you get annoyed when you get out of the shower and you have to fight the fog on the mirror? Who has time for that when the kids will be awake at any moment? Try rubbing a slice of cucumber on the mirror before you hop in and not only will you get a fog-free mirror, but you’ll have a nice smell that will boost your mood. 3. Headaches: If you suffer from headaches from chasing your babies all day (or pets or your husband), or had a little too much wine with dinner and want to avoid a hangover, eat half of a cucumber before bed. Cucumbers are high in B vitamins, sugar, and electrolytes, and they replenish the nutrients missing in your body to help you avoid a hang over or to beat that headache that’s been threatening to take over. 4. WD-40 replacement: Did you know you can get rid of a squeak by rubbing a cucumber on the hinge? Wow, now you don’t have to tear your garage apart looking for that little can with the red straw, and the baby won’t wake up when you slowly open the nursery door to check on him. 5. Crayon on the walls: Take an unpeeled cucumber and rub the crayon off of the walls in the event that your kiddo left you some art. You can also use this technique to erase a pen mistake. 6. Halitosis killer: Take a slice of cucumber and put it on the roof of your mouth. Hold it there with your tongue for 30 seconds. The photochemical that you love for cellulite and puff reduction will also kill the bacteria that is causing your bad breath. 7. Tarnish remover: If you’re finding tarnish on your stainless steel kitchen faucets and appliances? Rub it off with a cucumber slice. Not only will it remove years of tarnish, it will leave it streak free and your hands will thank you, and your kids won’t be put at risk from a dangerous chemical. 8. Energy booster: If you’re feeling tired in the afternoon, don’t give Starbucks your five bucks. Instead, grab a cucumber. There are just enough carbohydrates and B vitamins to give you a longer-lasting and healthier boost of energy than soda, coffee, or those health hazard energy drinks. 9. Munchy madness: Did you know that European trappers ate cucumbers for energy and to keep from starving to death? If those big burly manly men can eat a cucumber to keep from starving, you can eat one as a healthy choice when the munchies hit. Slice some up and take them in a small plastic container to the movies if your theater doesn’t offer healthy alternatives to munching on butter soaked popcorn. 10. Frugal facial: Slice up a cucumber and boil it in a pot of water. The chemicals inside of the cucumber will mix with the steam. Remove the pot from heat and lean over it, letting the steam hit you. Your skin will be more radiant and healthy, and you will feel relaxed and rejuvenated. 11. Shoe polish: Cut a slice off of your cucumber and rub it on your shoe. It will not only shine it up, but it will repel water. 12. Pest control: Put three or four slices of cucumber in a small pie tin and place them in your garden. The chemicals in the cucumber have a reaction that pests hate. You won’t smell it, but it will drive them from your garden all year long. Replace them periodically. 13. Sunburn: Sometimes sun block doesn’t always protect your little ones from sunburn. If you have burnt little kiddos you don’t have any aloe, rub some cucumber on them. Many doctors even use cucumber to treat patients with irritated skin and sunburns. 14. Blood pressure: Cucumber has been long used to treat high blood pressure. If you have it, add cucumbers to your daily diet. There is also ongoing research into the use of cucumbers for lowering cholesterol. 15. Constipation remedy: The seeds of a cucumber are a diuretic. If you’re constipated, try eating a cucumber. If you suffer from chronic constipation, add cucumber to your daily diet http://patch.com/new-jersey/parsippany/who-knew-cucumbers-could-do-all-this |

Is this not pathetic enough? .....for crying out loud can somebody remind these APC guys that we are operating a system of Government, democracy, they all vow to protect. Therefore if Jonathan can endured being called clueless, drunkard, big nose and other unprintable names by all these APC goons for 5 years and his minions should jejely endure being addressed as President Buhari, Buhari for the next 3 and a half years without disturbing our ears please. |
This man may emerge as the UN Sec. Gen........this is the position he deserves so far, as this would enable him to foster a healthy relationship among warring factions within African countries especially. Obasanjo will definitely not like this....what a life of greatness Jonathan is leading. |
Level don change no doubt! |
This same man even claimed he witnessed the brutal hanging of Ken Saro Wiwa wen he was in detention, he narrated how they were led (all hooded) to the gallow room which was directly his own cell and one by one (Saro Wiwa went first) being hanged by the hangman in a most dehumanizing manner afterwards their corpses were destroyed with acidic contents.......men the military can be animalistic sometimes but I still prefer them to this comedy we called "democracy". |
This is so sad on the eve of Christmas? God help your children, but the heading is misleading with the caption "Several" but we can only confirm 1 dead. |
This El-Rufai guy is mouthed though a midget but has a mouth that can munch. |

Moreover who takes a hungry blogger looking for traffic serious other than a clueless deluded person
