TV/Movies / Audition Tips You Should Know by Raymagnate(m): 2:00am On Jan 29, 2012
Have you ever appeared in and audition venue, startled by the crowed? A queasy feelings
settles in your stomach, you keep wondering how you are going to make it through, then you
are latter exposed to an environment of gossiping men and women who sips water and drinks
of any kind, while complementing each other’s headshots. Suddenly, the casting director calls
your number or name. “What do you have for us today?” they ask you. There you are confused;
you don’t know what to do or what to say, you begin to stammer and sweat keep’s pouring on
your body. The casting director‘s expression tells you everything. You won’t be getting a
callback.
Actually you can easily get rid of this scenario by following these simple tips:

Read the audition piece carefully

In the case of acting, audition piece sometimes are being sent out on mails and other format
before the audition date, ensure you get it immediately it is being sent and carefully study over
and over again. Arrive at the audition venue one hour before audition begins and be fully
prepared, not just to performed, but also to present any requested material. Ensure that what
you have prepared for all day long is burning at the back of your mind, and you just want to go
and get it done perfectly. Please don’t occupy your mind with failure; otherwise you are going
to fail.
Finally, based upon the audition notice, make certain you trying out for an appropriate part. If
the casting director is looking for a tall, bald man in his 60s, don’t show up hoping that they will
change the script for your short, frizzy-haired, thirty-year-old self. Follow whatever guidelines
are offered to ensure that you arrive at the audition organized as possible.

Be professional

Be courteous, but don’t be too talkative. Don’t pester crew members or fellow actors with idle
conversation, because you are distracting yourself. Spend your quality time privately reading
yourself.
Most casting directors expect you to bring a headshot and resume. This might not hold true for
community theatre productions. However, if you are committed to a career to a career in
theater, you may want to bring these along just to make a favorable impression. In general I
would suggest you act as if you are going for a job interview. Avoid inappropriate behavior,
whether its chewing gum, using profane language or behavior, behaving too shyly or brashly, or
making long-winded speeches as to why you are perfect for the role.

Dress Appropriately

This is the best time to wear “business casual” wears. You want to exhibit charm and
professionalism, but you don’t want to appear like a stock broker or a banker. Remember,
many actors make the mistake of wearing costumes to audition. The casting director might just
be amused, but they will definitely not take you seriously.
But you can wear your dance attire if you are auditioning for a dancing part in a musical. It
should not be anything flashy or expensive. Any choreographer will focus on your dance ability
and not your sequins.

Perfect Your Monologue

If you are asked to bring a monologue or to prepare one, make certain that you have rehearsed
it completely. Don’t just know the lines; know the character that you are becoming. Let the
casting director see a striking difference in the character that is now coming to life on the stage.
Some of the casting directors would love you to give to them exactly the way they prepared
their piece, ensure you deliver the same way, but if the other way round be sure that you study
well is such a way that you can deliver on a different perspective. Just be flexible with the
audition materials. If given the chance, show them that you can interpret the role in many
different ways.

Don’t Apologize

It’s of a fact that after auditions, an actor becomes his worst critics. Often times, hopeful
thespians are tempted to explain themselves to the directors. They provide all sort of excuses
and even apologies in hopes of gaining sympathy. Avoid this as much as possible. If a director
has not ask you to wait after your audition, please leave, don’t just hang around. Thank the
casting director and leave the stage knowing that if you are right for the part, they will contact
you.
Some times after they might have gone through all of the stuffs in their cameras, they still go on
and contact more people that did fairly well. If they didn’t call you back, know that you did your
best, you have learnt something and you have overcome the fear of not being able to perform.
Moreover, they are many other wonderful roles out there waiting to be filled.

Religion / Re: Pastor Opens Tattoo Parlor Inside Michigan Church by Raymagnate(m): 8:54pm On Jan 07, 2012

Religion / Pastor Opens Tattoo Parlor Inside Michigan Church by Raymagnate(m): 12:01am On Jan 07, 2012
FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A Michigan pastor who says he's doing everything he can to reach out to people who don't feel comfortable at a traditional house of worship has opened a tattoo parlor inside his church.

Rev. Steve Bentley of The Bridge, a church located inside a Flint Township shopping center, said his ministry is built on the belief that mainstream religion has become ineffective and irrelevant to most people. To that end, he opened Serenity Tattoo.

Tattoo artists Ryan Brown and Drew Blaisdell work by appointment or from noon until 8 p.m., Monday-Saturday, at the county-licensed tattoo shop that sits not far from Bentley's office as well as the watering trough that he uses for baptisms.

Bentley, who has two tattoos, said he understands some don't like the idea of Serenity Tattoo inside the church, but the pastor considers tattooing a "morally neutral" practice that he likens to getting one's ears pierced.

"We are about doing church in a different way and being relevant to people," Bentley told The Flint Journal. "You can get a tattoo in a clean environment. You can do it while still sticking to your moral code."

Brown is a recovering alcoholic who said the atmosphere inside the church building has helped to keep him focused and on the right path.

"I was running my own studio. I was just working. There wasn't much purpose in it," he said. "I was struggling with whether I could keep my studio" and stay sober.

"I prayed a lot and decided the best thing was to close it and come to the church. I figured I could have a lot more positive impact" here, Brown said.

The church owns 30,000 square feet inside the Flint-area shopping center.

Bentley said about 1,000 people call The Bridge their home church, and up to 500 in total attend his three weekend services.

The pastor makes an effort to talk to all who visit Serenity Tattoo, he said, although not all end up checking out the church.

Politics / Re: Ben Bruce’s Plan On Subsidizing Transport For The Poor by Raymagnate(m): 11:27am On Jan 06, 2012
Actually a good idea still pays. Ben bruce has actually taken his time to study oda countries transport system b4 he came up wit this, it.s left for the federal govt to go on with the plan. I stil knw that corruption can equally disrupt the plan, i think FG can stil initiate him, since he came up with the idea.
Politics / Ben Bruce’s Plan On Subsidizing Transport For The Poor by Raymagnate(m): 11:12pm On Jan 05, 2012
A good plan is only as important as the willingness to execute it. Since Independence in 1960, successive administrations have paid little attention to the poor.

Government has played the role of Robin Hood, unfortunately though in reverse: they have taken from the poor to subsidise and sustain the rich.

I urge the Federal Government to reverse that role and play the real Robin Hood, and now take from the rich and give to the poor.

This simply means that they must ensure that the rich make the same sacrifice that the poor have made and continue to make. After all, it is not a sin to be poor.

The government of Nigeria must practise what it preaches. If it does and implements the Ben Bruce Transport Policy it will go a long way in easing the untold hardship the increase in the cost of petrol will have on the Nigerian masses.

The Ben Bruce transport policy is simple, realistic and very achievable. I propose N318b annually for 10 years. This will re-invent and re-build the transport sector of Nigeria and alleviate the sufferings of the Nigerian people and at the same time grow our economy.

I demand for the Nigerian masses a N79.6b fund to subsidise bus and taxi services in Nigeria. I want that subsidy at 50 per cent of the cost for all Nigerians. Many other developing and advanced economies have subsidised their transport sectors. For instance, Brazil by 70 per cent, South Africa by 34 per cent, Chile by 57 per cent, the UK by 49 per cent, Belgium by 69 per cent and Finland by 65 per cent.

We all know the problems that have plagued our nation for decades. We all know the untold hardship our people have been through, and so did the Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti as emphasised in many of his songs.

One of the focal points of my plan is that all school children in uniform, senior citizens over 60 and children under 10 must travel free of charge by public transportation under this plan. Transport fares should not rise because the government should pay the difference of deregulation immediately to the transport sector. I estimate that we spend N50b annually on transport fare. Deregulation will double that and make it N100b.

The additional N50b should be paid by the government. And equally important, I propose an additional N79.6b annual intervention fund at five per cent interest over five years provided by the banks and guaranteed by the Federal Government to be used to buy fuel efficient cars and buses.

These vehicles must be among the top 5 most fuel efficient in the world and most importantly, they must be duty free.

I don’t have to be psychic or a soothsayer to know that the money that will accrue to government from deregulation is more than enough to pay for the purchase of such vehicles, with an estimate of N3M for Cars, N11M for mini buses and N16M for bigger buses. Old cars and buses should be brought to designated centres, where they can be purchased for at least N300,000 each and crushed, so they are taken out of circulation and will reduce the carnage on our roads.

The money will be used as a down payment towards the purchase of new cars and buses. This should also apply to any Nigerian who wishes to purchase a fuel efficient vehicle. We must transform bus drivers into bus owners and taxi drivers into taxi owners and make it easy for the Nigerian working class to own cars. N79.6b is also needed to provide infrastructure for the buses and taxis such as depots for overnight parking/garaging of the buses, fuelling, repairs and maintenance etc. A depot could be built to accommodate as many as 500 buses.

BUS TERMINALS: This is the location for buses to park and wait for passengers. Terminals should also have passenger facilities such as restaurants, conveniences, shops, fuel stations and a bus washing bay. Bus Terminals should be located at the ends of bus corridors in urban areas and at critical intersections in the interstate mass transit systems Bus Shelters and;

LAY BY’S: for buses to pick up and drop passengers, along bus corridors in urban areas without affecting the general traffic flow. They should be located at 200 metre intervals on both sides of the bus corridors in urban areas. This is what you have on Ikorodu Road in Lagos.

To make my plan work, N79.6b must also be provided by government to replace old, unsafe and uneconomical trucks. The same principle applies, but they will not get subsidy because they use diesel which had been deregulated long before the deregulation of petrol even became an issue.

The government must set up a Transport Regulatory Authority to regulate the industry.

Nigeria will spend in 10 years exactly 20 per cent of the savings that will accrue from the removal of subsidy.

Music/Radio / Senegalese Music Star N'dour To Run For President by Raymagnate(m): 12:45am On Jan 04, 2012
DAKAR (Reuters) - Senegalese music star Youssou N'dour said he will stand in next month's presidential election, mounting a high-profile challenge to the West African state's veteran leader Abdoulaye Wade.

N'dour is hugely popular among Senegal's youth and has been a vocal critic of Wade, who is hoping to extend his 11-year rule by winning the February 26 election against a field of about a dozen rivals.

"I am a candidate. I will engage in the presidential race," N'dour said in a broadcast late on Monday on his own TFM (Television Futurs Medias) radio and television station.

"For a long time, men and women have demonstrated their optimism, dreaming of a new Senegal. They have, in various ways, called for my candidacy in the February presidential race. I listened. I heard," he said.

N'dour has criticised what he calls the profligate spending of the Wade leadership in a country where formal employment is scarce, average income is $3 a day and frustration is high over power cuts.

He enjoys widespread popularity in Senegal for his music, which helped expose the country's 'Mbalax' drumming and singing styles to the mainstream, but it remains unclear whether he will be able to translate his fame into votes.

N'dour, who has also broken into the North American and European charts and collaborated with Neneh Cherry on the international hit 7 Seconds, announced in November he was cancelling concert dates to focus on politics.

Analysts said his candidacy would likely drain some votes from Wade but could also help Wade by further fragmenting the opposition, which has failed to unify behind a single candidate.

"In Senegal, up to now, we've had presidents who are academics or high-level intellectuals like Abdou Diouf or Abdoulaye Wade. Now there's a musical icon (, ) who stands a chance of taking much of the youth vote," said analyst Babacar Justin Ndiaye.

The run-up to the poll has been dominated by a constitutional row over whether Wade, 85, has the right to stand for a third term in a country that prides itself on a record of peaceful leadership changes.

The revised Senegalese constitution limits presidential terms to two, but Wade argues the amendment occurred after he had begun his first term.

A spokesman for Wade, Amadou Sall, dismissed N'dour's challenge. "We're waiting for all the candidates, including Youssou N'dour, to detail their policy ideas (, ) and not just list a string of wishes," he said.

Simmering resentment over Wade's leadership boiled over in June when he proposed new electoral rules that his critics said would have made it easier for him to win the poll and eventually hand power over to his son.

Protesters, also enraged by chronic power cuts, clashed with riot police in the capital Dakar leaving more than 100 wounded and forcing the president to back down.

An opponent of Wade was detained last week on suspicion of involvement in a fatal shooting, underlining tensions ahead of the poll.
Politics / New Year Messages: I Won't Be Distracted - Johnathan. by Raymagnate(m): 12:43am On Jan 02, 2012
NEW YEAR MESSAGES:I won’t be distracted –Jonathan

Posted by naturelnext in Uncategorized on January 1, 2012
President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians that he would not be distracted from implementing the programmes outlined in his transformation agenda.
Jonathan in his New Year message to the nation described 2011 as a year with many positive developments, with a promise to build upon it in 2012.

The President, who regretted the security challenges faced by his administration, said he had, however, demonstrated seriousness to strengthen the nation’s democracy with the conduct of free, fair and credible elections, which were applauded by both Nigerians and the global community.
He reassured that in the new year his administration would neither be distracted nor deterred from effective implementation of its agenda for national growth and development by present challenges.

The message reads:
“Fellow Compatriots,
I greet you all as we enter a New Year.
For us in Nigeria, 2011 has been one of many positive developments, which we would strive to build upon in 2012.
We have strengthened our democracy with the conduct of free, fair and credible elections, which were applauded by our people and the global community.
We have developed and begun implementation of a purposeful and focused agenda for national transformation and established teams of patriotic, fully committed, dedicated and capable Nigerians to drive our plans to achieve significant progress in priority areas such as power supply, rehabilitation and expansion of national infrastructure, industrialization, agricultural development, education and employment generation.

We have, with the astute and diligent implementation of the amnesty programme, fully restored peace to the Niger Delta and boosted the production and export of crude oil, which had plunged to record lows in the dark days of militant agitation in the region.
We have also fully re-established our standing as a very important member of the international community.
Sadly, and very regrettably, however, 2011 also witnessed continuing national security challenges, the most worrisome being the spate of mindless terrorist attacks that have claimed the lives of many of our people.
As we enter a new year, I wish to reassure Nigerians that my administration will neither be distracted nor deterred from the effective implementation of its agenda for national growth and development by present challenges.
We shall vigorously confront and defeat the menace of terrorism in our country and work with our friends in the international community to eliminate this new threat to global peace and security.

I urge our people to reject despair and embrace hope and optimism. We are a strong and resilient people. We have overcome all previous challenges to our nationhood and national well-being. With unity of purpose and national solidarity, we will certainly overcome terrorism and other current challenges.
With the support and cooperation of our patriotic compatriots, my administration will intensify efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property in Nigeria this New Year, as we have already signalled in our 2012 budget proposals.
We will also continue to make progress in improving the living conditions of all Nigerians in 2012 with effective interventions in key areas.

May God Almighty continue to bless, guide and protect our nation as we strive to build a strong, united and prosperous nation for present and future generations!
I wish you all happy New Year celebrations.

Let’s return to our roots –Tambuwal
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, enjoined Nigerians to reflect on our norms and traditions, which emphasised respect for elders and care for the young as the world ushers in 2012.
In his New Year message signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Imam Imam, the Speaker said the coming year, which will signal the rebirth of new hopes and aspirations, should be used by all Nigerians to return to their roots and revive the age-long tradition of communal harmony built on deference for elders and unquantifiable love and concern for the young.

“A society cannot be making progress if it loses its moral fabric. For centuries, communities and the people of Nigeria have prospered largely due to the harmonious nature of their society. As we enter the New Year, we should all reflect on these virtues so as to fast track the return of peace and stability to our dear nation,” the Speaker said.

A brighter Nigeria beckons –Sylva
Rather than being despondent, Nigerians should look forward to a brighter country this New Year, Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, has said.
The governor in his New Year message urged citizens to “look forward to a brighter country, where peace, prosperity and security would reign.
“Let us hope for an end to the senseless fratricidal and sectarian conflicts that can only degrade our humanity and push us further down the abyss of poverty and underdevelopment, when we ought to be marching ahead with the rest of the world,” he advised.

Chime, PDP chair task Nigerians on good ideals
Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State and the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Vita Abba, have urged people of the state and all Nigerians to use the New Year to re-dedicate themselves toward actualising the visions of the founding fathers of the country.
Chime, who made the call in his New Year message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Chukwudi Achife, also appealed to Nigerians to ensure the evils that had hindered rapid growth of the nation in the past were eliminated.
The governor said the current challenges facing the country calls for all to put heads together, especially leaders at all levels.
Also in his New Year message, PDP chairman in Enugu State, Abba, advised the people to use the New Year to reflect and offer prayers for the unity and peaceful co-existence of the country.
Abba thanked people of the state for their continued support and cooperation with the PDP-led government headed by Governor Chime.

We must not surrender to fear –Oshiomhole
“As we celebrate the dawn of a New Year, I extend my best wishes to the people of Edo State and Nigeria.
“Last year was challenging for us in Edo State and Nigeria. In Edo State, we have collectively attained greater heights in our efforts to improve the quality of life and to lay infrastructural foundations for enhanced human development, general public welfare and the pursuit of economic prosperity by our people.

We have cause to be grateful to God that under His guidance, we have built on our collective strengths and enhanced our resolve to deal with our challenges.
“This year, we can confidently look forward to a brighter future, because we have all the ingredients that engender socio-economic and political progress; namely: an enterprising people and a government that works.
For our beloved country, the times are certainly hard across all spheres of governance. In particular, the deficits in security of lives and property and the management of our diversity have attained levels that give renewed cause for grave anxiety. At this juncture, the Nigerian nation, not one particular religion or ethnic group, is under attack. We must respond as igerians and rise as a people to face the challenge, united by a common resolve to defend our collective security and the integrity of the polity.

“I believe strongly that Nigeria is all that we have and we have a duty to make it work. I urge that we continue to extend support to Mr President in his efforts to respond to the multifaceted problems he inherited.”

Support President –Obi
Governor Peter Obi called for more dedication on the part of Nigerians towards progress and development of the country in 2012.
This was contained in his New Year Message to Nigerians to see 2012 as a new dawn and new possibilities for the country after a successful general election in 2011 adjudged as the most credible by local and international communities.
He prayed that it will renew in the minds of Nigerians the resolve to contribute more to the country through support for policies that would benefit the people in the long run.

Reminding Nigerians that they collectively voted in Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as their president, he said they owed it a duty to support him in his efforts to promote the growth and development of the country for the benefit of her children.

Amaechi preaches religious tolerance
Rivers State Governor and Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, has urged Nigerians to show love and live in peace with one another in spite of religious, cultural and geographical differences.
He made the call in his New Year message to people of the state and the entire nation.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, David Iyofor, Amaechi called for a unified Nigeria, noting that the country can only move forward if its citizens were at peace with one another. “Our tribes and tongues may differ, but we are one and the same people, north, south, east, or west, we are one Nigeria and must live in peace and unity to make meaningful progress,” he said.

Be security conscious –Fayemi
Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, urged his people and Nigerians generally to be vigilant and security conscious in all their dealings in the New Year, following the current security challenges in the country.
The governor said that through vigilance and cooperation among the citizens, the various threats to peace and security in the country would be uprooted.

Fayemi in his New Year message, also urged citizens of the state as well as residents to imbibe the spirit of brotherliness and live peacefully with one another as one big family.

Wenger is facing a shortage of strikers with Ivorian Gervinho and Moroccan Marouane Chamakh both appearing for their countries in the Africa Cup of Nations in January and February -- and Henry's return could be a viable solution to the problem.

Crime / Olutosin Oduwole, Us Based Nigerian, Sentenced To 5 Years In Prison For Terroris by Raymagnate(m): 1:28am On Dec 24, 2011
A 26yr old Nigerian, Olutosin Oduwole, was on Wednesday December 21, sentenced to five years in prison in Madison County, for writing what prosecutors say was a note demanding money and threatening a Virginia Tech-like killing spree.

A jury convicted the former Southern Illinois University student in October of attempting to make a terrorist threat and unauthorized possession or storage of a weapon.

The judge sided with jurors in dismissing Oduwole's claim that he was an aspiring rapper, and that the threatening words were innocent lyrical musings. He was sentenced to five years on the threat charge and a year on the weapons charge to be served concurrently.
The threat note was found in Tosin's abandoned car by cops in July 2007, just a few months after the Virginia Tech massacre. The writing demanded payment to a PayPal account, threatening "if this account doesn't reach $50,000 in the next 7 days then a murderous rampage similar to the VT shooting will occur at another highly populated university. THIS IS NOT A JOKE!

The aspiring rapper insisted in court that he "did not mean to incite fear. That was never my intention. That is not my character." But he failed to convince the court the writing was innocent lyrics and other musings. Also, unfortunately for him, when they searched his on-campus dorm when he was arrested, cops found a loaded gun.

hi jigger, this problem is very common on hp laptop. i will tell you the most common problem so this will be helpful to you.
1) this can be as a result of a bad motherboard.
2) Typically you can start your computer in safe mode by depressing the f8 key at the same time you boot. That will tell your computer to load only the essential drivers and OS components to boot the window screen. From safe mode, you can delete, clean up temp files, or roll back to a new setpoint date when your computer was working. You can try this and clean your system of any viruses that may have invaded your system!
3) ensure your battery is still sound by troubleshootin it with a workin battery.
4) The presence of unnecessary Windows files on your system may often create certain problems.
5) Ensure your HD is sitted tight.
6) Take your time n u will go thru it.
