And you didn't get him arrested? I have seen some engineers going to police cell cos of swap hdd.

Some will even tell the police that what's in the hard drive is worth millions and can't afford to lose it, na there matter go rise him sef go know say he don jam.

To avoid all this kind of things, especially if you're dropping your laptop, always sign on it.

Tell the engineer to give you a marker, sign on your screen, when you get back and notice you can't find your signature then be rest assured your screen have been swap.

Sign on your battery, if its a motherboard fault, he will definitely open the laptop, take your hdd along with you or you sign on it too.

Tell him the RAM size, when you do he will want to confirm it by himself, which will make him to open and check.

With all this, believe me your laptop parts will be intact, if you can't find them you can go ahead and make a case if you want to.


Trust me, na this kind case our police dey like. especially laptop or phone.

i did change chargers twice but the problem continue. Ive got bad experiences with laptop technicians thats why am reluctantant in taking it to a technician, these guys swapped out and changed everything in my former laptop. Took out my 4gb ram and inserted 2gb, swapped my hdd

This shouldn't deter you from seeking recommendation s...

Mark my words, it's just a matter of time before such a technician meets his waterloo...

He will get lesser and lesser recommendation, which translates to lesser and lesser jobs...

Here's a suggestion; how about marking your HDD and RAM, some even go as far as marking the screen (with markers)...

This way you're sure your Item is really your item.

Please technicians in the house, my laptop keeps force shutting down and turning itself on when i plug the charger, but when its on battery its ok and will use up the battery without shuting down.

Some one said i should change the cmos battery, just did and the problem continues. And when the laptop in turned off and not charging it turns itself on using battery. What could be the problem with this laptop, been using it for 4yrs and counting before this issue started recently.

1. First, you need to stop plugging in the charger and try another charger.

2. Your system needs a little tuneup. 4 years! ( that's a single term for a president ) Take to a technician for checkup on basic stuff like power, display RAM and any other attached hardware.

It'll depend on the aspect of ecomerce you want to focus on.

However for a start, I reckon you will be focusing on multiple aspects. The website (particularly some design and integration), accounting and document editing/printing.

The above mentioned tasks can be achieved with minimum of Core 2 Duo Processor.

Dell Latitude D610 comes in Intel Celeron/Centrino duo processors...so, it's a NO. Not because these programs will not run, but because they will lag seriously!

Hence , begin with systems like
1. Dell Latitude D630
2. HP Compaq 6530b
3. Hp ELitebook 6930p

And so on

These systems will serve but overtime as your work piles up, you'll need something faster (a core i5, i7, i9 or Xeon )

No. To the best of my knowledge, you will not find it in disk format.

However, you can install windows 10-64bits on on your PC by getting the following:

1. A windows 10 installation disk.
2. A Flash drive (8GB)
3. "WinToFlash" software, download here: https://filehippo.com/download_wintoflash/
and install.

4. Another Flash drive (where you'll copy your drivers)
5. A driver's pack DVD.

Armed with these, let's proceed.

Insert the win 10 installation disk, plug in your flash drive and run the "win to flash" software.

Once the software opens, proceed by using the wizard.

Carefully note the source (should be CD drive) of the windows and the destination (select flash drive) of the windows.

Allow the wizard handle the rest by clicking next.

Once done, close the "wintoflash" program.

We now have a win 10 flash drive.

Of course you can skip this bit if your laptop has a DVD ROM.

Remove DVD and flash drive, shutdown PC.

Now, plug in the win 10 flash (don't worry you're not being weird )

Power up your PC and select a boot device by pressing F10, F12, F11 or ESC depending on your laptop type and model;; the boot menu loads.

Your flash drive will be listed alongside your HDD and others.

Using the arrow keys select the flash drive. And hit enter.

Wait for windows (in the flash) to load, Agree to terms (which no one cares to read ) then select a 64 bit version of your desired win 10...and click next

Everything is pretty much easy at this stage.

Until you get to a point where you're asked where you want to install Windows. The attached pix shows this,

highlight C: drive and just click next, I repeat ...just click next.

Deleting or formatting will make you loose data

The rest is a rollercoaster ride.

Once done, insert the drivers pack disk or the other flash to install drivers.
Again you will not need to copy the drivers from DVD to flash if your PC has a DVD ROM.

First, when we talk of power surges, we're basically looking at electricity from the socket outlet down to the fuse to your adapter.

If the surge bypasses the fuse, it gets to your adapter, and if your adapter isn't able to handle it, the resultant effect gets into your system.

Once it gets into your system, it affects the power circuitry and in most cases your PC;

A. May not come on.
B. May power only on battery.
C. May not charge.

This clearly indicate that power surges should not affect HDDs or RAMs or other computer peripherals that are not power related.

* Having said that, if you repeatedly power your system on and off using the power button, the hard drive (HDD) could be affected. This doesn't appear to be the case from your complaint...

** There's also a likelihood that your HDD (Hard Disk Drive) is reaching it's end of life and all that was needed to strike a death blow is for your system to suddenly trip off.

The BIOS may have been reset due to faulty CMOS battery. This reset usually changes boot orders and boot modes. If this happens, your system will fail to recognize the boot device (your HDD). Thus declaring that it didn't find a boot device.

*** If the technician has actually exhausted all these possibilities including checking the health of the hard disk and has come to the conclusion that the HDD is bad, then you can ride with that.***

Good morning all,
Please I haven't used my HP laptop for a while now and I decided to use it yesterday, only to find out it couldn't come on. I removed the battery, and pressed the on button for 30seconds and put it back and powered it back but it stil didn't work. I checked d charging pot light to see if it was charging and it was faint.

Too bad.
Whatever DIY tips given on here regarding the issue of your PC may not work.

Whilst it may look like a simple electrostatic issue, it might just be a bridge on the board, seeing that you've actually left the system for quite some time.

This means you will have to see a technician to do proper diagnosis on the laptop and come up with a probable solution...
