PoliticsRe: APC: The Obstinate Journey To Shame Via London - Pius Adesanmi by Raziii(m):
"My worry lies in how the leadership of APC has democratized blindness to irony, especially among their followers so effectively. If irony hits you like a Dangote truck and you are unable to recognize it as a citizen, you wear that condition of ignorance like a badge of honour and hit social media for celebration in this APC era".

Mr. Adesanmi, you are not alone in this... Especially that picture shared 2days ago and how ppl were jubilating.

How can a sane human see that pic and not feel sorry for Nigeria?

How can a sane human justify Buhai's medical vacation?

How can a sane human call me a wailer or hater because I criticize the govt?

How can a sane human justify the health status of the president being hidden from the public?

How can a sane human justify the performance of this govt so far?

How can a sane human not see that the Buhari lead govt oozes with incompetence. But instead blame everything and everyone else for their woeful showing so far.

If you find yourself doing any of these, I'm not saying you are insane but like Mr. Adesanmi, I'm worry about what the APC has done to you.
SportsAFCON Moved To June/july And Expanded To 24 Teams by Raziii(op): 1:03am On Jul 21, 2017
Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that starting from the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nation which will be hosted by Cameroun, there will be 24 teams instead of the usual 16 and will now be held in June/July.

It made this after a meeting of its executive members in Rabat which will be the first time since 1996 that the tournament would see drastic changes.

Also from the meeting, it clarified that contrary to report that the bi-annual tournament could be held outside Africa and featuring three invited teams from outside the continent, AFCON will be held exclusively in Africa and feature only national teams from the continent.

Cameroun are the defending champions and will also host the next edition of the tournament in 2019 with 24 teams to be included for the first time.

SportsTop 5 World Most Expensive Young Players In The World by Raziii(op): 3:30pm On Jul 19, 2017
We are currently in the thick of the football transfer window in Europe and some part of other continents. As usual, clubs battle each other to get the best players so they can compete favourably for titles.

With most clubs trying to keep the average age of their squad on the low side, young players become the targets of the biggest and best clubs. This means the value of some young players are likely to go up.

With the help of Soccerex, we have compiled a list of the top5 most expensive young players in the world right now.

Soccerex report on players born on or after January 1, 1996.

The report considers the player’s age, position, current club, contract length, market value perception, international caps, minutes played, goals, injuries and technical quality from various sources to determine each valuation.

1. Deli Alli- €82.6m

Ali was named as the PFA Young Player of the Year, the second tine in a row he would be winning the award.

Last season alone, he scored 18 Premier League goals as Tottenham chased Champions Chelsea for the league title. That goal scoring stats is even more impressive for a young star considering he is a midfielder.

According to Soccerex’s previous report, Alli’s value has more than doubled. He has gone from €34.1m that placed him on 4th last year to €82.6m.

2. Kylian Mbappe- €61.7m

18 years old Mbappe is placed second with €61.7m. The sensation scored 26 goals in all competitions last season to help Monaco win the league and reached the Champions League semi-finals.

His value is expected to raise further as he is being trailed by two of the biggest spenders in world football- Real Madrid and PSG.

Monaco has already rejected an offer of €135m for the French international from PSG.

3. Ousmane Dembele- €60.9m

Dembele, 20, sits 3rd on the list after producing string of impressive performances since joining from French club Rennes in a €15 million deal last summer.

Last season, Dembele helped BVB overcome a 2-1 deficit in the DFB-Pokal semifinal against Bayern Munich, scoring one and creating another as they turned the game around, and was also on target in the final win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

4. Leroy Sane- €51.1m

The 21 year old German international moved from Schalke to Manchester City last summer. And after a slow start, developed into an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s team.

Sane scored 9th and assisted 5 times for City last season

He is the 4th most valuable young player in world football with €51.1m dropping from the second position he occupied last year.

5. Marco Asensio- €42.7m

The Spanish under 21 player sits in 5th spot with a valuation of €42.7m after a breakthrough season with strings of impressive performances scoring 10 goals in all competitions including 3 in 8 Champions League matches.

Asensio also starred for Spain Under-21s at the Under-21 European Championships earlier this summer, with the attacker inspiring his team to the final of the competition.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly lining up a £130m bid for the attacker.

SportsHamilton Cruises To Silverstone Win As Vettel Finished 7th by Raziii(op): 3:52pm On Jul 16, 2017
Lewis Hamilton has cut Sebastian Vettel’s championship lead to just one point after putting up a dominant display to win at Silverstone.

Hamilton who equalled his fifth British Grand Prix led every single lap from pole position to claim his fourth consecutive win on home turf at Silverstone.

Behind him, there was heartbreak and drama for Ferrari as as Kimi Raikkonen in second and Vettel in fourth suffered front left tyre delaminations causing both men to pit which allowed Bothas to finish 2nd.

Mercedes made it one and two at the podium while Vettel finished a distant 7th.

Max Verstappen secured 4th for Red Bull but questions would be raised whether it was the right call for him to pit as it looked like a panic button after seeing Kimi and vettel lose their tires.

Daniel Ricciardo recovered from 19th on the grid to 5th, pushing Nico Hulkenberg on the penultimate lap pushing Hulkenberg down to 6th.

Sergio Perez made it the 8th double-points finish of the season for Force India, with Felipe Massa picking up the final point to place 9th.

The next race moves to Hungry on July 30th.

SportsRonaldo To Man. United ‘mission Impossible’- Mourinho by Raziii(op): 10:03am On Jul 16, 2017
Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has disclosed that the club never had the intention of re-signing Real Madrid super star Christiano Ronaldo, describing it as ‘mission impossible’.

Mourinho speaking to the press after his side defeated LA Galaxy 5-2, said, “We have never thought about it because he is such an important player for his club, of great economic power. We have not been able to find a reason that could have made us think that Ronaldo could leave.

“I am not a defender in any club who waste time on players who are mission impossible.”

Ronaldo was perceived to have fallen out with Real Madrid after accusations by authorities that he has committed a £14 million tax fraud were leveled against him.

He accused Real Madrid of not doing enough to protect him. But the rift seems settled after he [Ronaldo] declared his intention to stay on at the club.

8. Edwin Booth: John Wilkes Booth’s brother saved Abraham Lincoln’s son.

John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. on April 14, 1865.

While you may be familiar with him and the story surrounding the incident, you may not know much about his brother, actor Edwin Booth. Less than a year before his brother assassinated the 16th President of the United States, Edwin saved the life of Lincoln’s eldest son.

In 1864, Lincoln’s eldest son Robert Todd Lincoln was travelling to Washington DC by train. As Robert was waiting on the train platform, he lost his footing and fell backwards onto the tracks.

Lucky for Robert, Edwin Booth was there to grab him by the collar and pull him back to safety. Robert recognized and thanked the famous actor.

7. A Nebraska church exploded in 1950. No one was injured because every member of choir was coincidentally late in arriving.

The West Side Baptist Church in Beatrice, Nebraska always held their choir practice at 7:20 on Wednesday evenings. On Wednesday, March 1, 1950, there was an explosion in the church.

The explosion was so strong that it shattered windows in nearby homes and even caused a radio station to go off air. The fifteen members were always on time, except on that particular day. Two of the women were delayed by car trouble, while the minister, his wife and daughter were delayed since they needed a dress to be ironed at the last minute.

Others were late because of miscellaneous things such as waking up late from naps and so on.

Even though the church suffered severe damage, none of the 15 people had a scratch on them because of being late.

6. Henry Ziegland and the haunted bullet.

In 1883, Henry Ziegland, a native of Texas walked out on his girlfriend. The woman, who couldn’t endure the pain of a broken heart, decided to take her life by committing suicide.

Upon learning the news of his sister’s death, her brother vowed to take Ziegland’s life. He managed to track Ziegland down and shot him; then turned the gun on himself.

However, Ziegland managed to escape, since the bullet only grazed his face and then lodged in a large tree behind him. He considered himself to be a lucky man and went on to live his life.

Years later, Ziegland decided to cut down the tree, which still had the bullet lodged in it. He wanted to finish the job with the least effort and so went on to use dynamite to blow up the tree.

Unlucky for him, the explosion dislodged the bullet and sent it straight towards Ziegland’s head, killing him instantly.

5. Titanic: 14 years before the tragedy, a book predicted the Titanic disaster.

The story of Titanic is familiar with everyone thanks to James Cameron and his movie.

More than 1,500 perished on the fateful night of April 14, 1912. Even though there were several warnings informing them of ice at sea, the Titanic was travelling near her maximum speed when her lookouts sighted the iceberg.

What’s more creepy is the fact that a book written and published in 1918 by Morgan Robertson reflects the same story. The book titled “The Wreck of the Titan” was published 14 years prior to the Titanic disaster.

The ship in Morgan Robertson’s book was eerily named Titan and it hit an iceberg on the starboard side of the ship on an April night.

When the Titanic encountered the same fate as Morgan Robertson’s book, people started accusing him of clairvoyance.

Robertson denied any superficial powers involved in the creation of his book and he claimed that his story was purely based on his experience with maritime practices and shipbuilding.

4. The taxi driver who killed two brothers riding the same moped, one year apart.

Among all the coincidenceslisted in this article, this one might be the hardest to believe.

The story surrounding two brothers, 17-year-old Erskine Lawrence Ebbin and Neville, is very much real and their story was documented by The Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph on July 21, 1975.

In Hamilton, Bermuda, 17-year-old Neville was riding a moped when he was hit by a taxi and killed. The taxi was carrying a passenger, who unfortunately had to witness the incident. One year after the incident, the same taxi driver was carrying the same passenger when it hit and claimed the life of another man.

The man was Neville's brother Ebbin, who was riding the same moped.

3. Mark Twain: Born shortly after the arrival of Halley’s comet, predicted that he would die when it returned– and he did.

Halley’s comet is a short-period comet that is visible to the naked eye from Earth. One of the most peculiar things about the comet is that it passes by Earth every 74–79 years. The last time it was seen was in 1986 and is next expected to appear in 2061.

Mark Twain was born on November 30, 1835, the same year that Halley’s comet appeared.

The American writer, humorist, entrepreneur, publisher and lecturer was quoted saying, “I came in with Halley’s Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and Iexpect to go out withit. It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don’t go out with Halley’s Comet. The Almightyhas said, no doubt: ‘Now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together.’”

Twain’s prediction became a reality since he died on April 21, 1910 at the age of 74; the same year Halley’s comet passed by Earth.

2. The Hoover dam: Father and son who worked on the Hoover dam, died on the same day, 14 years apart.

Built between 1931 and 1936, Hoover dam was named after President Herbert Hoover.

The dam is a major supplier for flood control, river regulation, and improved navigation. Until its completion, 96 people lost their lives from drowning, falling rocks or slides, falls from the canyon walls, accidents involving heavy equipment, etc.

On December 20, 1921, a man named John Gregory Tierney was among the crew surveying locations for the dam. Sadly, Tierney became the first casualty of the project when a flash flood swept him away, claiming his life.On December 20, 1935, 14 years after the first fatality, a worker named Patrick William Tierney fell to his death.

Patrick’s death was the last fatality recorded during the project. Also, Patrick William Tierney was J.G. Tierney’s only son, who died the same day as his father.

The world is filled with coincidences. They happen all around us and sometimes we fail to notice them. Some of the eerie coincidences throughout history have no explanation as to why they happened. Whether they happened for a reason or simply because of sheer luck, these crazy coincidences throughout history are the coolest. Here are 8 such incidents that will surely blow your mind.

1. ‘Jim Twins’: Twins who were separated at birth turned out to have the same life.

At the age of just 4 weeks, identical twins Jim Lewis and Jim Springer, were separated and raised apart. In 1979, at the age of 39, both men were reunited and found out that they had some astonishing similarities in their lives. Even though the twins were adopted by different families, they both lived a mere 45 miles apart, both in Ohio.

Both the families had dogs that were named “Toy”. The creepy part does not end there. Both Jims were married twice; once to a woman named Linda and the second to women named Betty. The Jims also had children who shared the same name, as well as drove the same Chevrolet cars.

They both were appointed as sheriffs in different Ohio counties and had the habit of smoking. The Jim twins case have been used by many experts as a part of the nature vs. nurture debate and as evidence supporting telepathic connections between twins.

HealthWhat To Eat! Basic Nutrition & Diet Tips by Raziii(op): 4:31pm On Jul 08, 2017
When it comes to healthy eating, weight loss, or maintaining your weight, diet and nutrition plays a major role in these discussions. The discussions as to what to eat and what not to eat usually stir up loads of controversies that most times leave us confused.

So in this blog post, I have done my best to really simplify it down so you can make the best decisions when choosing your diet.

Just remember when it comes to diet and nutrition, there is no perfect optimal diet, as what works best for me, may not necessarily work best for you. So use this information to figure out what diet is best for you especially if you are looking to lose some weight.

# FRUITS

Fruits are loaded with vitamins, vital nutrients and anti- oxidants. They are really delicious too. And for those trying to lose or maintain their weight, since you are going to be avoiding refined sugar, fruits are a great replacement.

Yeah, fruits contain sugar but they also contain fiber and a whole lot more essential nutrients too. The fiber in fruits helps keep the sugar level in your blood at bay. For instance, an orange has sugar, so does a bottle of coke, but while the sugar in the coke may end up spiking your sugar level if consumed too much, the sugar in oranges wouldn't.

Fruits are great, I encourage everyone to eat them often. But that said, you don't want to chow on every fruit you come across as they also provide calories to the body and you know what too many calorie does to the body.

Related: Eating For Your Health: The Dietary Guide For Nigerians

# VEGETABLES

Vegetables should form a large chunk of your diet. Whether you are trying to maintain your weight or not, vegetables are beneficial to everyone.

Our body need a certain amount of nutrients to perform optimally and vegetables are a great source of getting these vital nutrients. They are loaded with fiber and essential vitamins.

And if vegetables provide the biggest chunk of your daily meal, then counting calories isn't really a problem because veggies makes you feel full a lot quicker than other foods because of the huge amount of fiber in them.

There are numerous kinds of vegetables for you to try, and the best part is, you can never go wrong no matter which one you decide to eat.

# WHITE FLOUR

White flour is refined, it is mainly used in white bread, pasta and this flour is completely stripped of its fiber, nutrients during processing, it is more like an empty calorie.

This means, when consumed, they turn into fat without adding any substantial amount of nutrients to the body. they also spike sugar level in the blood a great deal.

I strongly recommend you drastically reduce the products made with white flour in your diet.

# WHOLE GRAIN

These are like the opposites of white flour. They can still be part of a healthy diet but the trick is to look for the grains that have been minimally processed (brown rice, brown bread, millet, etc). They can provide you with a good souce of fiber, minerals, B-vitamins and a whole lot of other nutrients that the white flour wouldn't provide you with.

And if you are on a weight loss plan, they are super replacement for the foods made with white flour because they can actually make you control your portion because you tend to get full quicker.

# DIARY PRODUCTS

Diary products are really one of the food class that stir up controversies. Should we drink milk or not? Different people have different answers. But here is the thing, if you are going to eat diary product which I recommend you do, go for the healthy products.

If you are lucky enough to get the chance to choose, go for 'grass fed'. You want to make sure the cows making the milk are eating their natural diets too right? Sure!

Also and this is important, a lot of people go for the skimmed milk diary products, not good! Go for the full fat version because the fat actually makes it easier for the body to digest the diary product you are eating.

NUTS & SEEDS

Very briefly on this one, nuts and seeds are loaded with fiber, protein, minerals and healthy fat which are all important to helping us function optimally. You can use nuts and seeds for snacking.

# MEAT

People love meat, that's a fact! Should I eat meat or not? It is a very controversial question when it comes to diet, weight loss and nutrition. But from a health point, research has shown that eating a lot of red and processed meat has been linked to heart disease.

To be frank, I am struggling here because I'm also confused as to the best eating habit when it comes to meat. But I don't eat red meat, now I am not asking you to do the same but if you must eat meat, I recommend you don't over indulge in it.

Just to add, meat that have been cooked at an extremely high temperature such as 'SUYA' has some health concerns. Acrylamide is a cancer causing chemical that is produced when ever foods are cooked at those high temperatures.

So make a wise decision. That's it guys. Feel free to leave comments below. Stay fab!

Nairaland GeneralSee Gobe! Saudi King Oders Writer Suspended For Overpraising Him by Raziii(op): 10:04pm On Jul 03, 2017
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz has ordered an over-enthusiastic columnist to be suspended from his job after he equated him with God, Saudi media reported on Sunday.

King Salman has frequently been lauded by columnists in local media, in traditional deference to authority, since the 81-year-old assumed office in 2015.

But Ramadan al-Anzi’s column in al-Jazirah newspaper describing King Salman as “Haleem”, or forbearing, and “Shadeed al-Eqab”, strict in punishment – both terms associated in Islam with God – appeared to have gone too far.

"The phrases and tribute which the author bestowed on the personality of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, are not acceptable, despite what God had bestowed upon him, may God protect him, of the honor of serving the two holy mosques, Islam, the homeland and the people".

Attributing divine qualities or giving individuals any of the 99 names of God is frowned upon in the kingdom, which follows the strict Sunni Muslim Wahhabi school of Islam.

The newspaper published an apology late on Saturday.

“The phrases and tribute which the author bestowed on the personality of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, are not acceptable, despite what God had bestowed upon him, may God protect him, of the honor of serving the two holy mosques, Islam, the homeland and the people,” al-Jazirah wrote.

Saudi media reported that the king had ordered that action be taken against the newspaper, but no specifics were given.

In a message to Information Minister Awwad bin Saleh Alawwad, the king wrote that he was “astonished by some of the phrases used in the column”, according to Okaz newspaper.

Online newspaper, sabq, quoted the king as saying in his written complaint: “This is an issue that has distressed us, we don’t accept it and don’t approve of it, recognizing its dangers and the danger of being lenient towards it.”

CrimeTeen Shoots Boyfriend To Death In Youtube Stunt Gone Wrong by Raziii(op): 7:49pm On Jun 29, 2017
In what family members describe as a YouTube stunt gone wrong, a 22-year-old man from Halstad, Minnesota is dead and his pregnant girlfriend is in jail.

Around 6:30 p.m. Monday night, Norman County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 500 block of U.S. Highway 75 on a report of a shooting. Life-saving efforts were made and a medical helicopter was called, but 22-year-old Pedro Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ruiz’s girlfriend, 19-year-old Monalisa Perez, was booked into jail for reckless discharge of a firearm.

Ruiz’s aunt told Valley News Live that the couple had been trying to get famous on YouTube, and their pranks were escalating.

“He had told me about an idea. I said, don’t do it, don’t do it,” Claudia Ruiz told Valley News Live. “Why are you going to use a gun? Why?”

Pedro Ruiz apparently gave Perez a 50 caliber handgun and instructed her to shoot a round into a book he was holding, thinking it would stop the bullet. The couple had apparently tested the stunt before attempting it on video.

Can anyone fault Samuel’s thinking and rationale?

Two days ago I wrote an essay titled “Is Nigeria a Free Nation or a Vassal State?” which raised some fundamental questions about the nature and composition of the contraption called Nigeria.

It was a well-researched contribution and I would urge all those that have not read it to Google it and do so.

Such was the impact that it had that the Federal Government, its security and intelligence services and its agents in the media tried to block it from coming out and even resorted to hacking my email account for the umpteenth time.

Apart from that the publishers and editors of various newspapers and online platforms were warned and threatened and told in very clear terms that if they published that essay or indeed any of my material they would be visited with the wrath of the Federal Government and all manner of unpleasant reprisals.

Thankfully they did not budge or yield and consequently (as is usually the case with my contributions) the essay went viral. Trust the Nigerian the online media particularly not to budge.

They called the bluff of those in power and published it anyway! They have proved to be resilient and courageous and I commend them.

Yet despite the obvious aversion that this government has for plurality of opinion, truth and those that speak and publish it and despite the fact that very little that they do or have done in the past surprises me, their latest antic shocked even skeptics like me beyond belief.

I am of course referring to the now infamous Sallah day message purportedly from our ailing President which has come to be better known and described as “a voice from the sick bed’ It is obvious to me that it was NOT our beloved President Muhammadu Buhari that spoke in yesterday’s Sallah day audio recording.

And for whoever it was to address the nation in hausa is deeply insulting. Hausa is not the lingua franca of Nigeria. Can you imagine Obasanjo, Shonekan or Jonathan sending the Nigerian people a Christmas message in Yoruba or the Ijaw language respectively?

Can you imagine Azikiwe or Ironsi addressing the Nigerian people in Igbo?

In a nation of almost 200 million people can there be anything more shameful than what those behind this monstrous scam and repugnant exercise in deceit and deception have done?

That creepy and frightful voice from the grave which we heard in that audio message is the strange and invisible entity that now rules our nation even though its owner, more likely than not, is long gone and stone-cold dead.

We are being ruled by a strange spirit and an elusive ghost that resides in an unknown location in the United Kingdom. And in the last 50 days that this strange spirit has taken up residence in the United Kingdom that nation has suffered one form of tragedy or the other.

If it is not a brutal terrorist attack with bombs, cars or knives it is an avoidable raging fire in which many were gassed to death by cyanide and then burnt alive in the sanctity of their homes. Wherever that strange spirit and voice resides it appears to bring bad luck, is this not a national disgrace and a self-inflicted moral crisis and disaster?

Do these people have any honor, any dignity or any self-respect?

Is there anything that this vicious, ruthless, bloodthirsty and relentless cabal of ethnic irredentists and religious bigots not prepared to do to hold on to power in the name of a helpless and dying man? Must they hold this nation to ransom in an attempt to prove that they are born to rule and that we are born to be slaves?

Must they rule us both when they are alive and even when they are dead? When did Nigeria fall into the bestial grip of this barbarous form of deep and mystical occultism? It appears that we are all under a spell.

This enchantment is so deep and powerful that no-one even complains about what is nothing less than a brutal rape and sacrilegious assault on our collective pysche and national sensibilities?

May God forgive us for whatever it is we have done as a nation and as a people to deserve these insults and this shame and ridicule.
