Career / Re: Should Children Be Their Parents' Retirement Plan? by real28: 3:30pm On Nov 15, 2023
Darevofpeace:

I am so sick to my stomach!

*A 73-year old woman's statistics:*

She was a UNTH nurse and retired since 2007.

1. Widowed in 1999.
2. Gave birth to 6 children with 5 surviving *_(4 boys and a girl)_*
3. Her husband was a retired Principal
4. Her only daughter lives in Lagos *_( in a bad marriage since her husband doesn't allow her to bring her mum over)_*
5. Her three sons live abroad. The only son in Nigeria lives in Enugu and his wife pays her a visit on Sundays but stopped for reasons not revealed.
6. Her only sister, who is older than her but still strong in health, visited and found her in a bad state and decided to take her with her to her Umuahia home.

She had signs of dementia. She also suffers from diabetes and weak bladder. So, the urine smell complained by people is well understood.

Her only elder sister took care of her since her arrival till her sister's son had accident in Abuja and was left for neighbours to attend to her.
The sister's neighbour left her and travelled.

*_Mama was found dead close to an open fridge. Her corpse has been deposited in a morgue this morning._*

Her first son is a medical doctor in America, married to a Brazilian and only called once in a while after her mum was moved to Umuahia by her sister and kids.
___________
ANALYSIS::

Mama is not childless.

She raised all her kids and they're all professionals.

Money was not an issue. Her husband, though a principal, built a bungalow where Mama and her kids lived till her death.

Mama's sister said her only daughter has only called twice since she came to Enugu and picked her younger sister with her.

Mama's senior sister wants to bury her Junior sister on her own and mourn her quietly !!

*_Her kids are now back crying and saying they will give their mother a befitting burial._*

I wanted to call them out & curse them.

I am in pains.
___________

My heart is heavy.

*_A woman that raised five children should not have suffered like this._*

While you're popping kids, remember that one day......

- The bones and muscles will be WEAK..
- The eyes might lose their functions
- The bladder might be weak and you cannot control your urine.
- Cash flow will cease.
- Your legs won't be able to carry your weight.
- Your hands might not hold things due to parkinson or rheumatism or any of the other numerous infirmities
- Your mouth may be smelling because you cannot brush it well.
- Your brain might stop functioning.
- Dementia and loss of memory can set in.
- *_You may not even be able to take care of your personal hygiene..._*

It is called OLD AGE characteristics.

*_Life can be harsh and your children may be too busy with their lives that your care will be relegated to STRANGERS._*

*Children are NOT retirement benefits.*

*_Old age is a reality !_*
*Prepare for that time.*
*Take care of your health.*

*Be armed !*

*_Learn this big lesson Today !_*

Thank you.

The day you realize children are trained by you for themselves and not for yourself that is when you have peace. In other words, plan your retirement out of your children.assume they never exist in the first place

Family / Re: Broken Marriage, Please Advise me by real28: 8:40pm On Nov 14, 2023
NdubisiCharles:
Good day pals, I have a sister whose husband abandoned for the past 8 yrs now,
with kids, male and female, the boy is now 9yrs, while the girl is now 8 yrs, my sis was abandoned after giving birth to the little girl.
She single handedly took the children far away and keep raising them up till date, now this is happening.

Yesterday, I received a call from my young sis, saying that her forgotten husband just called and was pleading for her return, that what will she do, that she needs my advice as senior, for me not to fall into conclusion I gave her 48 hours to reply to her, .....

Today I called the man (husband) he sounds so calm, "he said he need them back, he told me that he never chase my sis away, that it was my sis that carry her bag and left his house. Ran away with the 2kids, that he paid my sis bride price, he has visited my family for reconciliation but sis said she ain't going back that hunger is in the house, he admitted that then he was broke, "that he is not a drunker, womanizer, fetish, or never lay hand on my sis, and that he is God fearing man" only that he has no money when asked my sis she confirmed it.

Please friends advice me on what to do

Hmm....I taught this was the case of my wife's sister in law hubby, who left the wife and 3 children for 8 years as well, only to come and starts pleading for reunion with his family which the wife gave in for atlast. Unfortunately, the man came back with a child and other 3 still outside and a gift of HIV, tuberculosis and scabies for himself.

Please before your sister accept him, the man should subject himself to HIV testing and other medical tests. Run a background check on him to know the major reason why he wants his family together again. And finally, try and find out if it is case of beans gone sour between the man and her cruised side chick because he can't be only for 8 years.

Try and make enquiry, they might have change their location specifically for this census program to area office where they carry out the screening and verification now. locations such as general hospital, health centre, LGA annex/LCDA etc.

So after seeing suggestions to visit the local government one chose during registration, I visited Ifako-Ijaiye local government today and I was screened. We were not even more than 2 as at the time I got there. I was asked for my Bsc Certificate only and asked if I was proficient with the use of Computers which I answered. Afterwards, I was asked to write my details which included my name, phone number, nin number and the npc application number. I applied for the role of supervisor and I was just number 4 on the list. This invariably means that not enough people are aware of the current stage of the application process. People are actually waiting to be approved on the portal not knowing you have to visit for screening before approval. I was approved at about 5 minutes later when I checked again. It was a swift and smooth one. I encourage people interested to visit the local government they applied to. If not they will replace or fill up the spots with their own people.

You are actually right because I just left their office to log complaint concerning my unchanged status after screening was done two weeks ago. However, the network was bad but was told the status will change before the end of today's work.

Please don't wait for your status to change automatically on NPC website as politicians have started taking advantage of the loopholes in the process as I saw "list" for a particular person.

Thank you so much,I did mine today in Enugu south LGA..This their method of screening is so confusing because they wrote down only my name and my ward, they didn't ask of my npc ID or my phone number

The official was suppose to run a check with your surname and PPA (ward) on their system to confirm your application and call out your phone used in applying before giving you a form (spread sheet format) to fill in your name, sex, age, phone number, highest qualification, MSPID no,e-mail and remark.

Physical screening of credentials was the last process.

Politics / Re: FG Suspends Fuel Supply To Stations At Land Borders by real28: 12:54pm On Nov 07, 2019
only in Nigeria, where government try to solve problem but ended up creating multiple problems. I am very sure all these filling stations that were duely given licenses and pay taxes to government at all level. Hence, why can't NCS notify the DPR and Depot owners of this development as marketer in this border towns may not be aware of the draconian policy.

is border towns no longer part of Nigeria? does that mean that every filling stations at border towns engage in smuggling of the product? this is just a deliberate attempt to impoverish the people of those border town. Do we conclude by saying all the security agencies are saboteurs in this act.

This is not the change we carve for, the NCS should do a proper mystery shopping among it staff and the filling stations and if find guilty should face the full wrath of the law.

Politics / Consumer Rights And Obligations As Stated By NERC by real28: 4:13pm On May 22, 2018
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) is empowered by the Electric Power Sector Reform (EPSR) Act, 2005 to ensure an efficiently managed electricity supply industry that meets the yearnings of Nigerians for stable, adequate and safe electricity supply.

The Act mandates the Commission to ensure that electricity Operators recover costs on prudent investment and provide quality service to customers.

8. All customers have a right to refund when over billed.
9. All customers have a right to file complaints and to the prompt investigation of complaints.
10. All complaints on electricity supply and other billing issues are to be sent to the nearest business unit of the DisCo serving the customer.
11. If a complaint is not satisfactorily addressed, customers have a right to escalate the issue to the NERC Forum Office within the coverage area of the DisCo.
12. Customers have the right to appeal the decision of the NERC Forum Office by writing a petition to the Commission.
13. It is the customer’s right to contest any electricity bill.
14. Any un-metered customer who is disputing his or her estimated bill has the right not to pay the disputed bill, but pay only the last undisputed bill as the contested bill go through the dispute resolution process of NERC.
15. It is not the responsibility of electricity customer or community to buy, replace or repair electricity transformers, poles and related equipment used in the supply of electricity.
. Obligations of electricity consumers
2. Pay bills for electricity consumed

3. Provide requirements for connection as stipulated by NERC and DisCo
4. Vigilant protection of electrical installations

5. Cordiality towards electricity workers

6. Customer compliance to the requirements of the Distribution code

Nairaland and misinformation. Information about the confiscation is true, but all the highlighted are not. Besides, that place is not a park; it is a major road, the Okada men impede free movement of pedestrian, If you reside around that axis you will understand better. It's some sort of relief to the pedestrians now.

It is not about been misinformed on this platform, because I stay close to this point. It may shock you to know that the same task force come on a weekly basis collect money from this riders and they also pay money on a daily basis as ticketing. although, I am not supporting them for constituting themselves as nuisance to free flow of other road users. But why would they collect money from when they don't want them on that road?
Travel / Re: Police Confiscates Hundreds Of Motorcycles At Berger Okada Park by real28: 7:21pm On Mar 24, 2018
Honestly, it was so pathetic as I listen to a victim who said her wife has been in labour for 2 days and was about to be operated but was told to bring N70,000 in a public facility and could not afford the bill. Hence, the need for continous hustle. The man was just crying but few that were touched gave an helping hand and a good Samaritan also promise to foot her wife's bill.

Nigeria Government is always in the habits of trying to solve a problem but ended up creating multiple problems
