SarkinYarki: Subsidy is no longer paid to marketers. NNPC imports and subsidies the product themselves. The profit and loss ALL recorded in one book per say. So in order words, govt pays no subsidy. You dont pay yourself from your salary, do you? 1 Like |

only in Nigeria, where government try to solve problem but ended up creating multiple problems. I am very sure all these filling stations that were duely given licenses and pay taxes to government at all level. Hence, why can't NCS notify the DPR and Depot owners of this development as marketer in this border towns may not be aware of the draconian policy. is border towns no longer part of Nigeria? does that mean that every filling stations at border towns engage in smuggling of the product? this is just a deliberate attempt to impoverish the people of those border town. Do we conclude by saying all the security agencies are saboteurs in this act. This is not the change we carve for, the NCS should do a proper mystery shopping among it staff and the filling stations and if find guilty should face the full wrath of the law. 1 Like 1 Share |

Sholaco: You're the one worrying about the symptoms instead of the sickness. The fuel subsidy incentives smuggling. If there's no subsidy there's no reason to smuggle fuel. It's that simple. I dont think a 20km will stop smugglers from making profit. The move does hurt local economy in border towns. Anyway we'll see what happens in gdp report in a few weeks. |

something is telling me, all this border closure, now stopping of petrol supply around land borders has to do with the security state of the nation. One can as well say, most of our terrorists gets both food and transport supply through the borders. it sounds good to me.. 3 Likes |
