There has been recent debates as to which African or West African country has the best Jollof Rice.

I was born into eating rice and stew every Sunday from childhood as a christian ( not bible related, just used to it).

Mum cooks jollof too. Every week from childhood up until we grew up and years later she still cooks jollof and we still eat jollof while at the family house.

I have not travelled to Ghana, Senegal or any other African country but i make bold to say Nigeria has the best jollof.

I even prefer it when cooked with vegetables (spinach), unfortunately most do not use this.

My most favourite jollof kind is the one prepared with firewood. I do not know how to explain this but there is an unexplainable connection between the firewood smell and the jollof that makes me ask for more.

There is hardly any wedding you would attend that Jollof Rice would be absent from the dishes prepared.

Domestic Violence is gradually becoming a norm in recent time and this is very disturbing.

I have seen cases of abused and battered wives. Some are even killed by their husbands.

I am a guy but i write this with so much pain, why go to the point of beating someone you claim you love?

Here in Nigeria, Female Celebrities are now the most recent victims of domestic violence.

I am a christian and cannot openly encourage divorce but this madness has got to be checked before it leads to the death of many.

As a wife always try not to get on your husband’s bad side no matter what. Always sit and talk things out.

The Earth is beautiful and we are its inhabitants, do we really protect or destroy it?.

We see a lot of wars and destruction going on in different parts of the world.

People have also threatened animals in wild, some have gone into extinction which is a very sad thing.

Aquatic animals are also constantly threatened by fishermen but especially when there is oil spillage killing a lot of aquatic animals.

The felling of trees has become a common practice and most aren’t replanted.

The most disturbing is the emission of very dangerous gases from cars, generators and bioharzards from industries.

Every subsequent year will see us re-affirm our standards , the screening team will collate all achievements in the year in review and screen for nomination.

This tedious process goes on for at least five months before the screening team comes out with a final list.

The groundbreaking public television children’s program is introducing a new character, a muppet named Julia who has autism, the show’s creators revealed on the CBS News show “60 Minutes” broadcast on Sunday.

Diagnoses of autism have risen steadily in recent years to the rate of one in every 68 US children, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But tackling the topic for children was far from straightforward.

Mr Abdullahi Chafe, the Ekiti State Police Commissioner said the Nursing Mother who was
beaten by policemen at a checkpoint in Ado Ekiti slapped one of his men and tore his uniform.


Chafe spoke in a reaction to the social media outrage against the policemen for brutalising a Nursing Mother.
Mrs. Toyin Adeyeye, a Nursing Mother now nursing a two month old baby, Heritage, was beaten by policemen on Friday. Her face and back show scars from the manhandling by the policemen.
After the beating, she and her baby, including her younger brother, Adeniyi Dada were detained at a police station in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital. The Kia Picanto that Dada was driving was also impounded.
State police Commissioner, Mr Abdullahi Chafe said the woman, who was said to have recently returned from America where she delivered her baby committed an offence at a checkpoint when she was asked to prove the ownership of the car in which she was being driven.
“Those people slapped my policeman on duty and tore his uniform. Uniform is an authority and what those people did was against the law and it is not good for a civilian to slap a policeman.

#WengerOut: It was all about planes at the start of Arsenal's clash with West Brom at The Hawthorns, but the Gunners were plainly awful as they succumbed to another shocking defeat.

Arsenal were shocking at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon, going down 3-1 to West Bromwich Albion in a dreadful performance which highlighted everything which is currently wrong with the club.

The Gunners remain five points behind fourth-placed Liverpool, with their grip on a place in next season's Champions League seemingly slipping away week after week.

And obviously you know who the fans are blaming for the current malaise.

WEST BROMWICH, England -- Three thoughts from Arsenal's stunning 3-1 defeat at West Brom.

1. Arsenal fall to another defeat

Arsenal crashed to their fourth defeat in five Premier League matches on a drizzly afternoon at the Hawthorns. They were undone by two set-piece goals, both headers by West Brom right-back Craig Dawson, which sandwiched a scrappy effort by substitute Hal Robson-Kanu.

It was a flat, underwhelming performance by Arsene Wenger's side, with Mesut Ozil out injured and Alexis Sanchez only contributing sporadically from his left-wing position. The Chilean did fire in a fine equaliser but faded from view after a nasty tackle from James McClean in the first half. On another day dominated by discussion about the future of Arsene Wenger, which then turned to a plane-based discussion high above the Hawthorns, this limp display was exactly what Wenger didn't want.

Plane banners have become a curiously familiar sight when supporters are unhappy with their manager or owner, but seeing dueling banners was quite a remarkable sight. The first read, "No Contract #Wenger Out" and had widely been expected, but the second caught everyone by surprise, a counter-banner: "In Arsene We Trust #RespectAW".

Arsenal's performance somehow captured the debate. There was a wonderful team goal finished by the marvellous Sanchez, epitomising everything that has been good about the last two decades of Wenger's management, but this was overshadowed by concessions owing much to Arsenal not being physical enough, the type of problem that has dogged them for years. Petr Cech's first half injury, forcing a substitution, amplified a difficult afternoon.

Somehow, the nature of Arsenal's defeats -- and perhaps whole seasons too -- are frustratingly predictable, which might explain why so many supporters are unhappy.

Atletico Madrid vs. Leicester City
Of all the clubs Leicester could have met in the quarterfinals, they were drawn against the only one they had faced before. Admittedly, much has changed since Martin O’Neill’s Foxes lost 4-1 on aggregate to Atletico in a UEFA Cup first-round tie in 1997, with Ian Marshall earning a place in the history books by scoring at Vicente Calderon.

Atletico also beat Leicester 3-1 over two legs in the 1961-62 Cup Winners’ Cup and, up until this season, had been their opponents in half of the European fixtures they had ever played.
In the here and now, Leicester can have mixed feelings about this draw — that is, if they were minded to feel at all choosy. On the one hand, Atletico do not quite have the individual stardust many of the other contenders possess, and they have not been consistently at their uncompromising best this season.

On the other, Diego Simeone’s team know better than anybody how to win a game at this level through sheer guts and, like Leicester, are happy to cede possession in order to do so.

It may be that Craig Shakespeare’s side have met their match — an opponent that can do the dirty, unfussy work that brought them success against Sevilla but have that extra bit of quality where it matters.

Atletico have done this all before; they can win a tie in many different ways and Leicester will have their work cut out. Only a fool would rule the Foxes out now, though.

Prediction : Atletico will go toe-to-toe with Leicester in the physical battle and have too much in the opposition box. Simeone’s side reach the semis.

The Borno Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the death of five persons after an attack by four suicide bombers in Usmanti village near Muna Garage in Maiduguri.

State Commissioner of Police, Damian Chukwu, said said four of the deceased were the suicide bombers.

He added that about eight villagers were also injured during the attack.

The US, Trump administration has further exacerbated the extremely tense standoff on the Korean Peninsula by dispatching attack drones to South Korea and sending special forces units to participate in massive war games already underway.

The military build-up takes place as the White House considers launching strikes on North Korean nuclear and military sites.

US Forces Korea announced on Monday that the company of Gray Eagle Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) will be permanently stationed at Kunsan Air Base, south of Seoul. “The UAS adds significant intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability to U.S. Forces Korea and our [South Korean] partners,” it stated.
While the US announcement emphasized reconnaissance, the Grey Eagle drones can also carry up to four Hellfire missiles that have been used to carry out assassinations and strike military targets. The lethal drones can stay aloft for up to 24 hours.

The South Korean military was in no doubt as to the purpose of the deployment. An unnamed official told the Yonhap news agency: “In case of a war on the Korean Peninsula, the unmanned aircraft could infiltrate into the skies of North Korea and make a precision strike on the war command and other major military facilities.”

The dispatch of attack drones to South Korea coincides with the involvement of US special forces in annual Foal Eagle war games, including SEAL Team 6, the highly trained assassination squad that killed Osama bin Laden.

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi has appointed Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson as his new Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on entertainment, arts and culture.

Johnson’s appointment was announced with 62 others in a statement issued in Lokoja on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government ( SSG), Dr Folashade Ayoade.

The appointments take effect from April 1, the statement said.

While most couples show some abuse and neglect, I’m not speaking of relationships that are fundamentally abusive, and always have been. I’m talking about unions that begin in love, with best intentions, then weaken or deteriorate, over time, until they are deeply diminished or essentially dead.

I’m here because I suspect that many of you, like me, have come to know, whether suddenly or slowly, that you can hardly stand to be in the same room any more with the one who used to be the home of your heart.

Maybe it’s not that bad for you. Maybe it’s worse. In any case, it sure isn’t what we thought it would be, is it? Wherever we live on the bell curve of alienated relationships, the questions are perplexing. What do we do, now that Cinderella’s once gleaming slippers have long since given us blisters? Is there a healing balm? How do we cope? And what about new shoes?

At no point in our brief discourse have I given the impression that I support the indiscriminate killing of animals.

My argument has always been that there is nothing wrong with killing an animal for food legally.

And it is unfair if wild life could be killed for fun and entertainment by some sets of people but we then criticise other people who kill wild life for food.

The Japanese and Norwegians see nothing wrong in killing whales for food but some people in the west object.

Nigerians see nothing wrong with eating cow leg, shaki etc but some people in the west object.

Nigerians eat cattle. There is no justification for killing the hippo. It's a rare find.

This is the problem we have in our country. That Hippo should have been sold to Wildlifes in Jos or Bauchi. This is really sad. The whites would never do this. Tourism generates alot of revenue. I was in the Jos Wild life Park two weeks ago and i saw lots of monkeys not caged moving freely... This monkeys have made the man-made park their habitat. They were really Beautiful.
