New York has formalized its ban on high-volume hydraulic fracturing for natural gas after a seven-year environmental and health review. Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Joe Martens announced the decision Monday, saying a ban was the "only reasonable alternative" after "years of exhaustive research and examination of the science and facts." The agency concluded that existing safety precautions are inadequate to protect against harm to water, air, ecosystems, wildlife, community character and public health. New York is the only state with significant natural gas resources to ban fracking, which has allowed other states to tap huge volumes of gas trapped in shale formations deep underground. While environmental groups praised the ban, drilling proponents have said the decision was based on politics rather than on science. For me, this is the best news I have heard in recent times.... Statoil’s wildcat wells returned oil and gas finds near the Gina Krog field in the North Sea. The wells were drilled about 250 kilometres west of Stavanger and directly northeast of the Gina Krog field. The overall oil and gas columns for both wells totals 300 metres or 150m each. Preliminary calculations of the size of the discovery are between one and two million standard cubic meters (Sm3) of recoverable oil equivalents. The Norwegian operator will now assess if the return proves the need for a possible development and tieback to the Gina Krog field. (s: Aberdeen Journals) oag-gurus..com

Following new cases of Ebola reported in two West African countries of Liberia and Sierra Leone last week, concerned medical practitioners have called for more vigilance at the border posts in order to prevent a recurrence of the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the country. They also called for the need of improved screening methods in order to forestall a return of the disease. Remember that proper hand-washing practice particularly reduces the risk of getting infections by more than 60 per cent. realitytopline..com

Following the oil industry reorganization, President Buhari has ordered the immediate dissolution of the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. The decision was conveyed in a letter, dated June 26, 2015, signed by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi. The letter quoted President Buhari as thanking members of the dissolved board for their services to the nation. The NNPC is the state-run oil company which oversees Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. It’s board is statutorily headed by the minister of petroleum resources. The corporation regulates the oil and gas sector, and also operates as a joint venture partner representing the government in deals with oil multinationals. The NNPC has in recent years been accused of large scale corruption, the latest being the alleged disappearance of $20 billion oil money. oag-gurus..com

One of Burundi's vice-presidents has fled the country, saying he felt threatened after opposing President Pierre Nkurunziza's third-term bid. Burundi has seen months of turmoil since Mr Nkurunziza announced that he would be running for office again in July's election. Gervais Rufyikiri told France24 TV that a third term for the president would be unconstitutional. A government spokesman denied that Mr Rufyikiri had been threatened. There are also reports that Burundi's National Assembly Speaker Pie Ntavyohanyuma has left for Belgium, citing medical reasons. He had also criticized the president's bid for a third term. Rights groups say at least 70 people have been killed and 500 wounded as demonstrators clashed with police over the past two months realitytopline..com

A woman (name withheld) was subjected to prolonged and appalling sexual abuse between the ages of four and nine by a ministerial servant. It is the first civil case in the UK of historical sexual abuse brought against the Christian-based religious movement. The woman who claimed Jehovah's Witness elders failed to protect her from sex abuse carried out by a paedophile has won a £275,000 payout. The woman, now in her 20s, alleges she was abused as a child in Loughborough by ministerial servant Peter Stewart. A judge ruled the organisation was liable for the abuse because it failed to take "safeguarding steps" after Stewart admitted abusing another child. The abuse took place at a number of locations, including Kingdom Hall, a place of worship used by Jehovah's Witnesses, with Stewart forcing her to keep silent by telling her "she was sinning" and "she would not be saved". In 1995, Stewart was convicted of separate child sex offences, including rape and indecent assault, and jailed for five years. He died, aged 72, in 2001, shortly before police arrived at his home to arrest him for sexually abusing the woman. realitytopline..com

Amaechi had accused Wike of embracing a fraudulent witch-hunt of his administration few days after the governor set up a judicial commission of inquiry to probe him. In this regards, Mr Henry Okah,Rivers State Commissioner for Housing,on Monday dismissed the claim by the former governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, that Governor Nyesom Wike was embarking on a witch-hunt and attempting to malign his (Amaechi) person. But Okah maintained that there was nothing wrong or immoral for an administration that received and managed about N3tn on behalf of the people of Rivers State to explain some of its actions suspected to be fraudulent. Okah explained that the simple thing Amaechi needed to do if invited by any commission of enquiry was to state his own side of the story and tender documents to buttress his case, adding that there was nothing to fear if his hands were clean. The commissioner also said that certain things must be clarified by the Amaechi government, noting that the state could not close its eyes to some grave allegations of corruption against the Amaechi government. An oil and gas giant has been fined thousands of pounds for health and safety failings which led to the death of a rigger. David Stephenson, 44, was crushed to death on board the Wellservicer about three miles from Aberdeen Harbour on April 1, 2009 – the same day as the Super Puma helicopter disaster, which killed 16 people. The vessel was operated by Technip UK, which previously admitted failing to ensure a safe system of work – ultimately leading to his death. Fiscal depute Geoffrey Main told Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday that Mr Stephenson – an engineer with about 18 years’ experience – was part of a team carrying out repair work on a diving bell, a chamber used to transport sub-sea engineers into deep water. While harnessed on top of the structure, the 44-year-old was hit and pinned against the bell by a four-tonne steel bell cursor which had been hanging overhead. His colleagues frantically struggled to winch the cursor up and Mr Stephenson was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where doctors tried unsuccessfully to revive him. A post-mortem examination concluded that his death had been caused by chest injuries, and that he had also suffered severe chest asphyxia. more news @ oag-gurus..com

This is the suspect, Dylann Roof 21yrs, who pulled the trigger and killed 9 people in the South Carolina historical church. Presently in police custody, his uncle has said if he is sentenced to death he will be the one to push the button. The killing of blacks has gone beyond hate crime. 'Hate' is a word we know does not involve killing or murder. But these days, it has developed to 'Prejudice' where black lives no longer matter. The big question is, how many more blacks will go down before racism is stopped or will it ever stop? ![]() realitytopline..com

oag-gurus..com I know a lot of people will be wondering what kind of question is this, or why did I ask? If you think this is a dream, then you are dreaming. Yeah, after my graduation, I started searching for jobs in the oil and gas industry, I saw a thousand and one people struggling for the same opportunity and position applied for. This is just a couple of years back.. Some of these prospective employees have been in the so-called labour market for an appreciable number of years even before I arrived then. That means more job seekers but less companies to actually accommodate them. Now, I have been working as a safety personnel in a servicing company run by a young vibrant, bold and thoughtful MD. I got interested to know how the company started and to my surprise they actually began as 'bolt and nut' suppliers to a O&G producing company but now has become a major player/specialist in Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Maintenance with close to a thousand onshore/offshore personnel. Let me not bore you with those magnitude of details.... Well, I thought to myself one fateful day in the office, if this man (the MD) had not actualize his vision to run an indigenous O&G servicing company, maybe a lot of his workers now would have still been in the streets looking for jobs. I understand quickly that oil producing companies alone can not absorb a greater percentage of these job seekers but the servicing companies can carter for that. In this regards, over the years a lot of visionaries have seized this opportunity to open their own servicing company thereby making wealth for themselves and most importantly creating thousands of jobs opportunities. I have seen applicants turned contractors, entrepreneurs and so on. You know the major players in this industry try dig into their background and you will be surprised on how they started small. My point here is that you job seeker or worker may have the potentials to start your own company today or tomorrow. Two things are deeply beneficial; 1. You will create wealth for yourself 2. Create job opportunities for others including host communities Therefore, you can see that the answer to the above topic is simply 'YES'. I am charging you today to start your servicing company. Go out there, seek for oil and gas investors, ask questions here and there. The oil and gas sector is very large, so your own additional company will not make it shut down. Own an O&G servicing company and become your own MD!!! oag-gurus..com
