Jobs prospect blooms as Egypt signed a deep-water oil and gas exploration deal with Royal Dutch Shell and Petronas worth around US$1 billion (RM4.14 billion) for eight wells in the country’s West Nile Delta, the petroleum ministry said on Saturday.

The release reportedly came after talks with the government, though few details are confirmed.
The abduction of the so-called "Chibok girls" triggered a global outcry and sparked a huge social media campaign.
Before the latest release, about 195 of the girls were still missing. The number of girls in the latest release is unconfirmed, and varies from about 50 to 80.
The Sahara Reporters website quoted a source as saying the freed girls were now in the town of Banki in Borno state, awaiting an airlift.

They would be taken to a secure location, the source said, for debriefing and would then be reunited with their families.
After the abduction in 2014, a number of girls escaped and Boko Haram then freed 21 last October, after negotiations with the Red Cross.
Last month, President Muhammadu Buhari said the government remained "in constant touch through negotiations, through local intelligence to secure the release of the remaining girls and other abducted persons unharmed".

Nigerian authorities have seized 2.5 metric tons of reportedly fake rice during the holiday season.
Mamudu Haruna, comptroller of the Federal Operations Unit, called it "plastic" rice at a press briefing in Lagos Thursday. "We have done the preliminary analysis on the plastic rice. After boiling, it was sticky and only God knows what would have happened if people consumed it.

One customer who avoided a potential mishap was Kikelomo Adediti. She said she bought 10 cups of the product (about 2 kg) from a small retailer in the Ikeja area of Lagos, in November.

"It looked perfectly normal and cost less [than regular rice] so I thought I got a great deal. Normally it would take about 20 minutes [to cook] but after 30 minutes it was still hard. I added more water and the aroma was chemical in nature so I decided to discard it thinking it had expired," she told CNN

Dr. Victoria Feyikemi of Babcock University Hospital Ogun state, Nigeria, said the medical consequences of consuming such products can be severe because the fake rice has synthetic resin that is harmful to the body.
"When you eat three bowls of this rice, you are basically ingesting one vinyl bag and the toxicity and associated pathologies are numerous.

At least 55 people were killed and 575 were left injured after an overloaded passenger train in Cameroon derailed on Friday (21 October), the government said. Authorities also added that fourteen people remained trapped under the wreckage.

The Pope's pregnant receptionist has been found dead in her apartment on the outskirts of the city. Miriam Wuolou, a 34-year-old of Eritrean origin, was seven-months pregnant when her body was discovered.

Tuition fees really going up in the UK and the effects are more students from the UK now moving to other European universities.
But what it also has is hundreds of students from the UK - and the number is rising.
This is the university application season for UK students - and open day visits now include trips to Dutch universities, which are pitching themselves as if they were offshore Russell Group institutions.
Since tuition fees rose to £9,000 in England there have been repeated forecasts that students would head for cheaper European universities.

Across the Netherlands, there are 2,600 UK students in universities this term - up by a third in a year. And independent school head teachers want Dutch universities to be included in the Ucas application form.
The University of Groningen is a microcosm of this - up by 33% to around 300 UK students, for whom it has had to put on special open days.
This 400 year-old university, second oldest in the Netherlands and in the top 100 of international rankings, now designates itself as an English-speaking institution.
