Obi1kenobi:
This thread was originally showing the superior progress of Kenya compared to Nigeria and devolved into a bit of a childish squabble both ways, but has been intermittently hijacked at points by insecure South Africans. An arse-hole above for example keeps spamming the thread with several dozen pictures of South Africa, when nobody has ever claimed Nigeria is more developed than South Africa, so it's kind of pointless. An American or British person might as well come here and start posting a thousand pictures.

And you can kid yourself all you want. Apartheid-era South Africa already had cities comparable to first world nations, regardless of how many airports and new stadia you've added since then. You're building on an existing foundation and legacy. Trying to deny the contributions of white monopoly capital to the country is a rather futile, delusional exercise. With over 80% of the population, less than 10% of JSE stocks are owned by black people when disregarding the pension funds, unity trusts and life policy indirect contributions (even with these, black ownership maxes out at 22%). There are only 4 black CEO's in the top 40 JSE listed firms with whites accounting for over 30. Over 72% of the directors in the top 100 JSE listed firms are white with blacks accounting for about 15%. This is despite the advocacy and attempts to aid upward mobility of blacks often with unmerited promotions and appointments to push a policy of workplace diversity. An estimated 1.7 million people (3% of the population) contributes over 80% of South Africa's income tax and 3.3 million people account for between 93% to 99%. No guesses for figuring out who accounts for most of that.

You can delude yourself all you want, but the only difference between Nigeria and South Africa is one had significant capital invested in it by emigrating Europeans and the other was little more than a base of resource exploitation, including profiting from human bondage. It has absolute fucckk all to do with how brilliantly you've run your country. I know enough about clowns like Zuma to know anything your society accomplishes is in spite of people like him rather than because of people like him.
The best post so far on this thread. I pity those who are wasting their precious time quoting kwametut / AmenhotepZuid I can boldly bet my left ball that a single person is behind those two bots accounts and the person is somewhere in Yaba.

Dangote, and a hand-full of Nigerian cabal, set-up and control the Nigerian economy together, they cement the masses in permanent poverty. Dangote, the world’s 40th richest man was described by the US according to wikileaks reports as operating a “ Beggar-thy-countrymen ” ie- get rich by turning Nigerians into beggars,
the government enforced advantages and monopolies and the destruction of all competition by government stooges, dangote is the greatest benefactor of Nigeria’s corrupt over the years, Aliku Dangote, is embodiment of corruption itself, he establishes himself in unimaginable wealth, and then buys press to placate the masses by making them believe that a few ‘slave-labor’ employments and charities define him as different, patriotic and benevolent. Dangote did not invest in Nigeria, Dangote uses Nigeria. Nigeria’s governments deposited the nations resource in Dangote. so why won't him thrive more than others huh
I underestimate the level of your stupidity at first.

Ibeto was banned after the period of grace given to cement traders to establish cement manufacturing plants.

Prior to the coming of Obj 90% of cements were imported. Obasanjo gave a period of grace to Lafarge, Dangote, Folawiyo, Flour Mills, Ibeto to increase their manufacturing capacities.

Full time cement traders like Dangote, Folawiyo, Ibeto , BUA were asked to move from trading to manufacturing.

Manufacturers like Lafarge, Flour Mills ie Unicem.Ashaka, Benue cement, Northern Nigeria Cement were told to increase their manufacturing capacities.

Among the full time cement and it only Dangote and BUA that truly moved into Cement manufacturing.

Where are the quarries and plants of Ibeto?

Trading creates few jobs and also kills industries, that is why we have to give to Dangote who is the biggest cement manufacturer in Africa.
Dangote cement currently employs almost 18000 workers in Africa.
All the listed cement traders enjoyed tax holidays due to government government Backward integration policy on cement manufacturing, non of them invest much of their gains from government tax holidays on cement importation like dangote did in cement manufacturing and all these cretins are everywhere shouting dangote monopoly.

Abuja —Kenya’s former anti-corruption czar, Patrick Lumumba, yesterday held Nigeria responsible for underdevelopment of Africa through its poverty caused by graft in public service.

Consequently, he called for total support for the anti-corruption war of President Muhammadu Buhari, so Nigeria can take its place in the comity of nations.
Lumumba, who spoke at the seminar, entitled
The role of the legislature in the fight against
corruption in Nigeria , organised by the anti-corruption committees of the Senate and House of Representatives in Abuja, said for Nigeria and by extension, Africa, to develop, Nigerian leaders must be ready to battle the cankerworm.

“Africa is behind because Nigeria has not released her potential.
It’s time the leaders rose because one in every five Africans is a Nigerian,’’ said Lumumba in his keynote address.

Lumumba, a professor of law, described Nigeria as a microcosm of Africa and, as such, could not afford to get things wrong.

He stressed the need to enthrone behavioural change culture in Nigeria, adding that the country must put in place stringent mechanism that would effectively checkmate corruption.

He said: ‘’The three arms of government must strengthen and not undermine the institutions that are meant to fight corruption so that Nigeria can realise its potential.

“People must be made to know that if you reap where you have not sown, there are consequences. Men only change their behaviours when there is a threat pain.

“Institutions are the heart of the fight against corruption but he (Buhari) will not succeed if the legislature is not behind him and the institutions are not strengthened, because only institutions defy time and outlive those that live on graft.’’
Earlier in his opening remarks, Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, said Nigeria had faile to seriously fight corruption for more than 40 years.
According to him, the National Assembly will partner with the Federal Government for lasting solutions to the problem.

PoliticsFG Okays Concession Of Kano, PH Airports by realjoker(op): 1:34pm On Sep 20, 2017
Ifeanyi Onuba, Maureen Ihua -Maduenyi and Success Nwogu
The Federal Government on Tuesday said it had approved the concession of Kano and Port Harcourt airports , as well as transaction advisers for the process .
The Minister of State for Aviation , Hadi Sirika, disclosed this while speaking on the certification of Nigerian airports at the ministry ’s headquarters in Abuja .
On September 11 , Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, said the Federal Executive Council had approved the concession of the Murtala Muhammed Airport , Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport , Abuja .
Osinbajo did not mention the Kano and Port Harcourt airports .
But Sirika, while commenting on the latest certification of the MMA by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria , noted that FEC had also approved the concession of both Kano and Port Harcourt airports .
He said , “President ( Muhammadu ) Buhari has approved that the Lagos , Abuja , Kano and Port Harcourt airports be under concession .
“The Federal Executive Council has also approved it as well. FEC has also approved transaction advisers for the airports and they will start the process soon .”
On the recent certification of the MMA by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority , Sirika described the feat as noble, adding that the Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kaduna airports were the next in line .
According to him , the benefits of an NCAA -certified airport cannot be overemphasised , as he noted that no airport had ever been certified in Nigeria in the past by the authority .
Sirika explained that with the certification, the government would be able to value the airport and know how to relate with its concessionaire when the facility is eventually given out in concession .
He said the certification showed that the airport could now be described as air safety compliant , adding that passengers would start enjoying the gains of an NCAA - certified MMA in no distant time , as this might lead to a reduction in the cost of flight tickets in the near future .
Meanwhile , workers of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria on Tuesday morning disrupted activities at the MMA to protest against the proposed concession of the Lagos and Abuja airports .
The protest was led by the National Union of Air Transport Employees , National Union of Pensioners and Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria .
The unions and workers of FAAN disapproved of the plans by the government to concession both airports .
The workers who stormed the Freedom Square leading to the entrance to the FAAN headquarters in their hundreds as early as 8 am , described the planned concession as an illegal act of selling off of the airports to people who were unknown to them .
The General Secretary , NUATE , Mr . Olayinka Abioye , stated that the unions would continue to mobilise and frustrate the government’ s plan to concession the airports without discussing with them .
He said , “The government needs to engage the unions before it can consider the concession of the airports and tackle the issues that will arise from the concession , including job losses , which should be properly looked into .
“The Minister of State for Aviation , Hadi Sirika, must also demonstrate transparency on the concession of these airports . FAAN already has 64 legal cases over concession that have not been resolved , yet the government wants to go ahead to concession the airports . ”
The National President, ATSSSAN , Mr . Illitrus Ahmadu , said the workers were opposed to the concession of airports because the process was not clear to them .
“We will use every instrument at our disposal to battle the government and frustrate the concession of the airports , ” he said .
In Ilorin , the Kwara State capital , scores of aviation workers on Tuesday also protested against the planned concession of some airports by the government .

BusinessNigeria’s Oil Output Rises By 138,000bp/d In August by realjoker(op): 1:10pm On Sep 20, 2017
https://16746-presscdn-0-67.pagely.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Oil-production-platform.jpg
20 September 2017, Sweetcrude, Lagos – Nigeria’s crude oil production increased by over 138,000 barrels per day, bp/d, in August, data obtained from the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, revealed.
According to the statistics published in the OPEC Oil Market Report for August, the 138,000b/d addition to Nigeria’s production in the month, saw total production rising to 1.861 million b/d from 1.723mb/d in July.
Total crude oil production from the 14 OPEC members averaged 32.76 million barrels per day, mb/d, in August.
While crude oil output increased in Nigeria, production showed declines in Libya, Gabon, Venezuela and Iraq.
SweetcrudeReports’ review showed that Nigeria’s August production of 1.861mb/d, is slightly above the 1.839mb/d recorded in December 2015, with a differential of 22,000b/d.
In 2016, production dropped to between 1.553mb/d and 1.557 million b/d.
In the first quarter of 2017, production further dropped to 1.511mb/d, increasing a little to 1.616mb/d in the second quarter.
In June, production increased to 1.710mb/d from 1.616mb/d in the second quarter.
According to OPEC’s report for August, Nigeria’s Bonny Light which is among OPEC’s reference basket of selected crudes, appreciated in value by 3.2 percent in August.
A 3.2 percent increase in price of Bonny Light pegged Nigerian crude grades at $51.69 per barrel in August from $48.66 per barrel in July.
Meanwhile, going by OPEC’s data showing that the country produced 1.861 mb/d in the month, total production for the entire month was 57.691 million barrels.
OPEC’s record of 1.861 production for Nigeria in August and the country’s export shipping data of 2mb/d for the month leaves a question as to how the country would produce less and export more.
Experts said the 2mb/d exported included condensates, which is not part of OPEC production quota.

Nigeria’s consistent drop in crude oil production has been majorly linked with spates of attacks on its pipeline installations by militants in the Niger Delta region.
The country lost over 130 million barrels of crude oil from January to November 2016 to the activities of 32 militant groups in the Niger Delta region, according to Vice-Chairman of the Security Subcommittee of the Oil Producers Trade Section, OPTS, of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, LCCI, Mr. Shina Bankole.
The country’s production fell by 156,900 b/d to 1.269 million bpd in March, from 1.426mbpd recorded in February.
Consequently, the country lost its status as Africa’s top oil producer to Angola, according to OPEC.
