Leave all that talk from people... I got the same talk and I landed myself in Electrical Engineering. I just discovered that the closest I will ever get to Computer science is solving of abstract current and voltage equations. Follow your passion and make it your proffession. Do computer science and while in school, run other it programs to imrove yourself. If computer science is really your passion, you'll succeed in it if you are serious. As for job oportunities, there are a good number of tech companies where you can work. BUT... Your certificate is just a proof that you passed through the university. Even if you come out and do stuff on your own it's not still a waste. BTW 97%of the richest men in the world are self employed. #justSaying Finally, most people who have passion for computer usually want to be entrepreneurs (their own boss). I think you should put yourself in that category. MAKE YOUR PASSION YOUR PROFFESSION!!! Don't say I did not tell you. |

Okay I know you can't avoid them completely, but at least be very careful with them. I can't even defend all the paid Mods... Now let me pour out my heart; I don't really know what is wrong with 'SOME' Simple Machines Forum Mod developers (especially the free ones). They just sit back, create incomplete mods and upload them, for innocent rookies like me to use on their sites. I own a forum; that runs on SMF (although we are working on our own forum software... Shhhhhh!) and in the bid to make it a world class forum, I've had to search for mods to ease/reduce my programming work as I really dont know much. Because of the damages i have had to recover from in past times, whenever I find a Mod, I always try to review it before use. Sometimes I detect problems before installation, and 'most times' when the feature is already in full use by the forum members. The point is, from experience, most - Yes! Most of the SMF free Mods can not and should not be trusted. What Can I Do About This? 1. This is where your programming skills come in. Review the codes of the mod and ensure it is exactly what you need. 2. Check the areas in the source files that would be affected by the mod and ensure you have not tampered with them before. See more solutions to this problem and review my SMF powered forum: http://www. .com.ng/b19/smf-admins-must-avoid-free/2066/

You don't really need a lot of money to run and maintain a blog. Basically for a start you just need a good web host from Nigeria (FOR A START!). Here's what you should do; 1) Get a web hosting company, buy a domain name and pay for hosting. This should cost you not more than N4,000 2) If you actually know programming, setting up a WordPress blog shouldn't be much of an issue. Since you don't plan to spend much money, I wont offer my blog setup service but help. Alternatively... You can setup your blog for free using , e.g. yourname..com. If you use this system, you can still upgrade to a custom domain in the future e.g. yourname.com Once you decide on which one to use from the two above, we'll continue from there. Feel free to ask any questions. |
Why do people always make it a big deal when sites like this are offline? |
