Love_Decay: I meant ur text is hard to read. On security, there little you can do besides hard password see keepass , hard database names and passwords see keepass again.

Most of ur security would be the host responsibility cos they have full access rights and can modify necessary files and settings. On Wordpress there are a few plugins that help harden not sure about the forums.

But if your managed ur vps/server like some of us do, you should be looking at csf for the server and for managing blacklists and mod security on apache or naxsi for nginx.

Note: for a good measure of security you need protection on the kernel level (Ubuntu , cent os, Debian , Rhel) , web server level (apache,nginx,lighttpd,Cherokee lite speed) and on the application level (Wordpress, smf, vbulletin, magneto, Drupal e.t.c ).

You need to contact your host for proper information .

I've noticed this issue, and I also face the same thing on my forum. I think it happens when you copy and paste from another site.

I noticed that if you actually type your reply, you won't have that issue.

Custom ads, just like Nairaland won't be much of a problem. Quote notification might be, as that is what I am currently working on. Good luck...

Afam4eva: 1) Get a web hosting account at www.internetvisa.net

2) When you hosting account is setup, click on the Fantastico or the Softaculous link and when you're there, look for SMF and install it on the root of your hosting account and you're goood to go.

3) After installing it , it comes with the default SMF theme which you can have access to it's files and make some changes. Better still, you can develop your own theme from scratch.

Another way would be to download the SMF software from http://download.simplemachines.org/ and then install it on your local system. Make all the changes before uploading it to your server.

Just get a hosting account, domain name and install your SMF there. The rest of the work is customizing it to your taste; design and feature wise...

Its really possible to make it big just like linda... But the truth must be said there's a lot of competition + you need a lot of patience. Linda spent about 4 year before she started making 1kobo.

Hmmmm... I don't know if some of these tricks should be exposed here but I'll do it anyway... I just set a minimum and maximum width for the sites body, and some other contents like images, search boxes etc. so that it changes depending on the users device-width.

I also did some work on my "viewport". Please forgive me for any wrong terms used... I'm still a learner. Feel free to ask any more questions and also drop your suggestions. Thanks

I'll say 90%. Their customer service is also very wonderful. One thing is Nigerian Webhosts can just be for a start, as the website grows bigger, it won't be advisable to risk it.
