They've not even launched BBM on other devices, they are already loosing money. I pity for them anyway. This may just be the begining of their downfall.

The gist is that in Blackberry's most recent financial statement (that I saw today) for the second quarter of this year, they announced that they are expecting a loss of about $955 Million Not only that they have plans to sack... or let me put it in a better way reduce their work force by about 4,500 employees (almost 50%) if they've not done that already. Blackberry Messenger will be finally available on Samsung Devices only starting from this Thursday, September 19th. According to my source the BBM app would be exclusive to only Samsung devices for about 3 months before it would be available for the iOS. This was confirmed on Samsung's twitter page.

Blackberry introduced Blackberry ID about two years back, with BBM 6 as an extra means of identification for BBM Accounts. So, once BBM is installed on an iPhone or Android device, there will be a welcome screen showing options; Sign In and Create a Blackberry ID Once a user creates a Blackberry ID on Android or iPhone, a unique BBM pin would be given to the person.

According to my sources, BBM Pin's for Android and iPhone would start with "7" e.g. 71017D1A That's the pin blackberry is using to test run this new innovation. You can add them and join the fun.

Apple launced iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C yesterday in California. The bothe devices are goin to run on the new iOS 7.

Apple iPhone 5S

The iPhone 5S is an improvement on the already solid iPhone 5, with better speed. How to Extend Laptop Battery Life

Keep your Laptop Battery away from heat: I know it’s a “Laptop” with emphasis on the “Lap”. That doesn’t mean it should go directly on your lap, a pillow, or anything else that can tighten up the vents of your laptop. For longer laptop battery life, use your laptop on a more solid surface like a table.

Use the Laptop Often: Don’t charge your laptop, and leave it dormant for a long period of time, try to make use of a charged laptop, at least once in about two weeks.

Completely Discharge your Battery Once a Month: You can do this by removing the A.C Power outlet (charger) and letting the battery “die” completely once every month. In case of a Li-ion Battery, never let it discharge.

Stop Overcharging your Battery: When not in use, remove the Laptop charger if the battery is full, don’t keep charging it. It won’t go beyond 100%.

Turn off Your Laptop: If you are not going to use it for more than 5 hours, shut it down. This would help reduce the wear and tear on your battery, thereby increasing laptop battery life.

Clean Battery Contact with Alcohol: Periodically clean the laptop’s metal contacts, by rubbing with alcohol on a damp cloth. Please Note; Only clean the battery contacts, when battery is fully discharged.

How to Save Laptop Battery Power During Usage

Defrag your Hard Drive: The more fragmented the hard drive is the more work it needs to do, and the more battery power it would consume during usage.

Ditch the Standby option; Use Hibernate Instead: Leaving your Laptop in Standby mode will continue to drain your battery. If you plan on using it soon I advice you hibernate. Your work won’t be tampered with, and you’ll save battery power.

Use Power Saver Power Plan: Most Laptops offer 3 power plans; the Balanced, Power Saver or High Performance. Common sense will tell you that the Power Saver plan saves power. You can easily change power plan options, by clicking the battery meter icon.

Upgrade you RAM: I bet you didn’t know this one. If your laptop’s RAM is high, processes will be carried out faster, thereby saving power. Please don’t do this yourself, meet an expert.

Remove any CD, DVD or USB from your Drive, if not in use.
Close all Unnecessary Applications
Reduce or Mute Volume level, if you don’t plan to use it.
Reduce Screen Brightness
Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

Like they say, he who laughs last (if is not a “stammerer” or a “fool”) laughs best. NAFDAC (National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control ) has been enjoying the last laugh since the introduction of the Mobile Authentication Service (MAS) in Nigeria. The Mobile Authentication Service will enable you check whether a drug is fake or original with your mobile phone even before purchase.

How Does the Mobile Authentication Service Work?

When next you go to purchase a drug check or ask if it is MAS (Mobile Authentication Service) Enabled. If it is follow these steps below;

Check for a unique panel (like that of a recharge card). Every Mobile Authentication Service Enabled drug comes with a unique 10-digit pin.
Scratch of the panel, and text the unique 10-digit pin to 38353. After a few seconds, you will get a reply telling you whether the drug is fake or original.

If the drug if fake, don’t ask me what you should do. I know Lonart (Popular Anti-Malaria Drug) and Apiclox can be confirmed in this way. Do you know other drugs that work with NAFDAC’s Mobile Authentication Service, please let us know.

1. Self or Invalid Clicks

This is really common, as it is the only rule most Google Adsense Publishers know. Avoid clicking on your ads. It is against Google Adsense Terms of Service (T.O.S.). Don’t think that you can make a fool of Google AdSense.
Invalid clicks could come from bots. If you get a lot of traffic from bots, be rest assured that your Google Adsense account is at risk. In my future post I will be showing you how to prevent invalid clicks.

2. Accessing Your Adsense Account through many Systems

Yep, I got you here, you probably haven’t heard this one before now, but trust me, it’s nothing new. Any system where your Google Adsense account has been accessed is regarded by Google as your system, so if an Adsense ad is clicked on that system; it just means you clicked on your ad (Self Clicking). So if you blog in a public café you may be at risk of getting a Google Adsense ban, because anyone that visits your blog through that sytem may click on your ad unknowingly. I strongly advice that you access your Adsense account using only one system, preferably yours.

3. Putting ads on Sites that don’t comply with Adsense Policies

Okay, you own more than one website. You want to earn revenue from all your websites, but you opened your Google Adsense account with just one of the Websites. My simple advice for you is that you should make sure that any website you use your adsense ad code on complies with Google Adsense policies. Just in case you don’t know, violating Google Adsense policies on your site even after approval could result in a ban. So be careful!
In some cases, someone may copy your Adsense ad code, and place it on their own site. Don’t ask me how or why someone would do that, because I cant think of any reason now. Although this one is really not your fault, you can still get a Google Adsense ban for it. To ensure that Google Adsense ads display only on sites you authorize;
Open your Google AdSense Dashboard then click on Account settings.
Scroll down to “Site authorized to show ads” and click on edit.
Enter the sites where you want your ads to display, then click Save.
That’s it. No other websites can now display your ads, except for the ones you authorize.

4. Deceptive ad Placement

Formatting your ads to blend with content is a sure way to increase your CPC, even Google advises that you to do so, but that doesn’t mean that your ads should look exactly like your blog and its content.
What I am trying to say is, don’t edit your AdSense ad code, to confused your visitors and make them click on your ads mistakenly. Simply put if you try it and you are caught… you know what would happen.

5. Having More Than One Adsense Account

As at the time of publishing this post, the Google Adsense programme is restricted to one account per publisher. This means that you are not allowed/supposed to have more than one Google Adsense account, under the same payee details. If you must consider having another Google Adsense account, it must be registered with a different email id, payee name and even address, if not a Google Adsense ban awaits you!

If your flash or hard drive files and folders are missing, it means that the file space is still occupied, but you cannot find your files.

The first thing you should do is check if your hard drive files are hidden (not missing), to do this;

Go to your Start Menu and search by typing “Show Hidden Files and Folders” then click on the option.
In the Windows that opens, under “Hidden Files and Folders”, check “Show Hidden Files and Folders” if it’s not checked already then click OK.

If you don’t still see the files on your hard drive, it then means they are not hidden but missing.

How to Find Missing Hard Drive Files

Download and Run Autorun Exterminator to help you remove any Autorun Virus from your Hard drive.
Open Command Prompt (CMD);
For Windows XP, open Run and type “cmd” (without the quotes)
For Windows Vista, 7 and 8, go to the Start Menu and search “cmd”
Once Command Prompt opens type this: attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*
Make sure you replace the letter “g” in that command with the drive letter where your hard drive is.

1. Web hosting

This usually one of the first WordPress Issues most WordPress user faces. Getting reliable and cheap web hosting is not easy, unlike Blogger where all you have to do is pay Google and relax. Nowadays, every computer literate person is into web hosting. Most times at the beginning of your blogging career, you may have to jump from one host to another (which is not easy) until you finally settle down.

Here’s what you should do;

Contact more experienced bloggers for advice before you choose a Web hosting Company.

2. High Memory Consumption

WordPress is very notorious for high memory consumption. If you are new to blogging you may not know what I’m talking about, until you experience it. High Memory Consumption is one of the common WordPress Issues. It is caused by use of too many plugins, widgets, very high traffic and sometimes your theme. If your WordPress blog suffers from “High Memory Consumption”, your visitors won’t be able to access your site and sometimes, you may not even be able to access your back end (WordPress Dashboard). You know what that means.

Here’s what you should do;

Avoid the use of too many plugins + remove all unnecessary widgets.
Be careful when choosing your Theme; don’t just use any one, because it is free.
If you are really getting a lot of page views, and you have a lot of users, I advice you switch to Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosting. Ask your host about it.

3. Site Speed

WordPress is endowed with so many features, and if these features are abused (used unnecessarily) they’ll become an issue. We know that WordPress has a lot of plugins and widgets, but I don’t remember asking you to showcase all of them for us on your blog. Site Speed is one of the major WordPress Issues users face. Nobody will wait till eternity for your blog to load. Hope you also know that your site’s load speed has an effect on your Google Page Rank.

Here’s what you should do;

Use fewer Plugins, and Widgets
Use light premium themes/frameworks like Thesis, Genesis etc. You can also use free themes from WordPress.
Use a Caching Plugins like W3 Total Cache, Super Cache

4. Hacking

This has always been one of the most serious WordPress Issues. You can just wake up to discover that your site has been hacked. You don’t want to know what it feels like trust me, so tighten up you security. There are different types of hacks, although I won’t be discussing them, the most common one is quite easy to recover from, if you do the right things. Relax don’t be scared just yet.

See Some Security Tips;

Get New Security Men (I suggest they should be armed anyway) to guard your blog.
Ensure you backup your files and databases regularly, so that even if your blog is hacked you can still recover easily.
Install WordPress security plugins like WP Better Security, Bullet Proof Security etc.
