DissTroy:

Are they wholly so? Well, let's see...

It's the agbalumo/udara (because it's really not African star apple or of the apple family so let's call it by native names) season.
Itsrm bought 4 for #500 in Port Harcourt days ago. Pricey.
Meanwhile baskets of the fruit aree rotting in farms and bags in interior Benue and border communities of Cross River. #100 would get you more than you can consume even in a day.

To get to Port Harcourt, you go:
Benue (and the many communities) > Cross River (very large and strenuous terrain) > Akwa Ibom > Port Harcourt.

Let's really break it down:

-Fuel price hike: FG's fault (1)

- Benue bad internal roads: SG's fault (1)

- Benue insecurity: FG (2) and SG (2)

- Cross River - Benue Road is bad: FG (3)

- Cross River bad roads: SG(3)
- Cross River insecurity: SG(4) and FG (4)

- Cross River - Akwa Ibom road is bad: FG(5)

Already these factors have multiplied the selling price of the fruits even in the trailer due to costs and risks.

- Akwa Ibom roads are good so point against SG here.

- Security not Iceland level but no challenge.

- Akwa Ibom - Port Harcourt road: FG (5.5)

Port Harcourt roads are good so no point against SG here.

Extortions by police along the roads so FG(6.5)

FINAL SCORE ON BLAMES: FG 6.5 vs SG 4

It gets to Fruit Market, D-Line, Port Harcourt. Or Oil Mill Market if it's a Wednesday. Then gets retailed to the woman on the street.

And that's how the brother on this thread ends up buying just 4 for #500 for what is less than #30 at the source.

That's how price inflation of perishables happens.

-----
You still think state governments have no role to play in the inflation we are experiencing? The facts have been laid bare.

Of course, they have.

I'm not absolving them of the blame. I'm simply saying we are not wrong if we put more energy on FG compare to SGs. We can beam the light on them too. All I'm saying is that, for people to call on FG most of the time has to do with policies that affect their immediate needs/living.

I gat you Sha.
