Ericsson’s ConsumerLab has said in its first ever Television and Media Report that by the end of 2015, Nigerians would have spent about N54bn on Video on Demand streaming.

The Video On Demand is a System that lets Users Watch Videos with the Use of Data, via their Tablets,PC, and Wireless Devices Over the Internet.

Ericson's ComputerLab made known that around possible population of about 100 people living in the country, its findings showed that only 27 per cent (27 million) of them streamed videos.



Ericsson said in the report that the figure should have been higher but for the poor data service from telecommunications companies in the country.

Industry experts had estimated that if 27 million Nigerians yearly subscribed to iROKOtv, a leading video streaming platform in the country, and other VoD platforms at N2,000 yearly Average Revenue Per User, they would have spent about N54bn at the end of the year.

“Only 27 per cent of Nigerians stream videos for now because of the inflexible data plans and slow download speeds flagged as reason for low video streaming uptake,” it said in its report.

The Company later induced that the figure would most likely increase in 2016, given that “changing consumer needs were fast creating a new TV and video landscape in Nigeria.”

Johan Jemdahl, The Managing Director, Ericsson Nigeria, said the figure would rise because TV and video content consumption was no longer tied to the traditional TV screen.

Besides a malformed lidless eye and nose, the child also had other severe deformities not compatible with life.Doctors believe that the boy’s deformity was caused by radiation exposure in the womb orby a combination of medicines taken by the mother during pregnancy. Unfortunately, the boy is not expected to survive more than a few days.

Such deformities are rare and very very hard to cure

Bill Oxidean, a father of two, was in his garage when he said he was attacked by a man with a gun last Monday, he told ABC News today.
"Suddenly I saw a guy walking up the street that didn't look good at all," Oxidean, 41, told ABC News. "As I brought my trash can in he ran into the garage and attacked me."
The entire encounter was caught on video, beginning when the suspect, dressed in a gray hoodie, ran up behind Oxidean. The video was released by the San Francisco Police Department.

Chelsea have offered manager Jose Mourinhoand his squad a vote of confidence following their 3-1 defeat at home to Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Blues claimed the Premier League title last season but have won just two of their first eight games of the 2015-16 campaign and sit 16th in the table.

Mourinho insisted after the defeat to Southampton that he would only walk away from Chelsea if the players no longer trusted him, and the club has released a statement offering their public backing to the Portuguese.

He joined Facebook on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 and as at the time of the report has 95 friends. Some of his friends reveal through their Facebook profiles to be Sheriff Banki, a senior legislative aide in the National Assembly, Alhaji Abba Tar, a staff of the Borno State Government, Mala Zanna, a major in the Nigerian Army, Chibu Alhaji Mustapha, a staff of Bama Local Government Council in Borno State, and several person who identified themselves as teachers of the Islamist.. Some of his Facebook friends display profile photos that suggest links with Boko Haram.



He has also uploaded two pictures: one uploaded by 1:39pm on September 9 showed pictures of anti-aircraft machine guns with the Boko Haram emblem, while the other which was uploaded by 1:56 pm of the same day showed the suspected terrorist brandishing an AK-47 assault rifle.

The Official who was identified as Gabriel Murta was officiating an amateur game between Brumadinho and Amantes da Bola when tempers flared on the field following a red card.

The referee who is also a police officer was reportedly kicked and punched by a player from Amantes da Bola, which led to the fracas.

The referee's association in Brazil stated that Murta felt threatened by the player so he made a move to defend himself however he will be facing disciplinary action.

The angry referee was stopped in his tracks by his linesmen and one of the goalkeepers who persuaded him to return to the dressing rooms and leave the gun in his locker.

According to a footage taken on a mobile device by one of the away supporters, the player who allegedly assaulted the referee ran off the pitch when he saw the official coming towards him with a gun in his hand.

The rep for the referee association said:

"The Minais Gerais Football Federation has already summoned the referee and a psychologist to a meeting and I’m going to talk with him.
"On the basis of that conversation and his account of events and the results of the psychological assessment, I’ll decide what if any measures to take.
"What’s happened is obviously not a common occurrence and I don’t want to rush into anything. At the moment it happened he’s opted for getting his gun because in his view it was a question of controlling a situation."
This is not the first time such scenarios has erupted in the Brazilian league...The South Americans take their football to an unbelievable extent..

The Trade Union Congress, TUC, Enugu State chapter has insisted that Senate President, Bukola Saraki should resign.

The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation is prosecuting Saraki for alleged false declaration of assets at the Code of Conduct Bureau.

Some organisations, including labour unions, had already called for Saraki’s resignation from office.

Chairman of the TUC in Enugu State, Chukwuma Igbokwe, while speaking with newsmen in Enugu maintained that Saraki should step aside, pending the conclusion of his trial at the CCT.

Igbokwe said, “Any public officer that is found to be corrupt should vacate the position, or step aside to allow the judicial process take its course. If he continues to occupy the position, he can subvert the course of justice.

“Now that he (Saraki) has taken his plea, he should step aside, pending when he is found guilty, or acquitted.”

The labour leader added that the rule of law must be allowed to prevail in Saraki’s trial.

Igbokwe said, “Nobody is above the law – he should vacate the office for now and wait for the rule of law to take its course.

“In the current administration’s anti-corruption campaign, nobody should be spared. There should be no sacred cows and those in sensitive positions should step aside if they have been accused of corruption and taken to court.”
