Another event that wouldn't be forgotten by the students of Agege Government College in Lagos State is the World food day.Unilever, the makers of Knorr cube set out to feed 1million students in the #shareameal programme and to help enlighten th event, Knoor volunteered to bring their Brand Ambassador,Super star actress and philanthropist Omotola Jalade Ekeinde .Photos Below





The chef of the day was the winner of the just concluded knorr Quest who was also in attendance. Omotola who wore an EMMY kasbit jacket encouraged the girls to follow the knorr green food steps when cooking which includes Tossing in green vegetables into their stew, stirring and crumbling in the New iron-fortified Knorr cube. She also assisted in sharing meals to the students and danced with them. The highlight of the day came when Omotola said goodbye but the kids were not ready to let her go. They surrounded the cars and even chased her down the road before finally saying Goodbye.

In a recent interview, Olusegun Obasanjo, the Former President of Nigeria has expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far by the military in the fight against the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents insisting that the soldiers are leafy having an upper hand and they are winning the war against terrorism in the country.

Obasanjo who was at the Presidential Villa spoke to Correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday and also urged the President to learn from Colombians how they have coped with insurgency in their country for the past fifty years.
The former President also said he briefed Buhari on the outcome of the task of reconciling the feuding factions in Guinea Bissau given to him by the Commonwealth. He assured that a new Prime Minister would be selected to lead the beleaguered African country in a couple of days.

When quizzed why he took the long trip to the Villa, Obasanjo said

“Let me just let you know that I have come to see the President for two reasons. The first one is the one you have just seen. I brought a delegation of those of us who visited Columbia last year under the auspices of a foundation which I am the chairman.
“We went to Columbia to see how all the Columbian authorities were handling the issue of insurgency which had been with them for more than 50 years.
“As a result of that visit and the experience we had, a book was produced and I said to them that it will be interesting for us in Nigeria to learn as much as we can learn from the experience of Columbia.
“The second aspect of my visit was the work that both the President and the ECOWAS gave me in Guinea Bissau.
“The last time, we were able to resolve all the issues of getting a new Prime Minister. This time, we had also been able to resolve the issue of now forming a government.
“If nothing intervenes, I believe between today and tomorrow, a new government will be in place in Guinea Bissau. They have been without government for almost two months.
When I was there, I praised the restraint of the general public and particularly the military because the military leaders told me that for two months, they have not gotten salary. They could not even buy fuel into military vehicles and yet they continue to maintain restraints.
That cannot go on forever. So, I hope that the actions that we have taken over the weekend (I was there on Friday morning and I left early morning of Sunday), we might be in the process of putting that behind us.”

When correspondents asked what specific lessons are to be learnt from the Colombia experience, the former President said


“The specific thing is that they have been fighting insurgency for 50 years. They celebrated their 50 years in existence in May last year, in fact, we went there in June.
So, we want to see what has kept them going, what has kept insurgency going? What has made the government of Columbia to make three attempts to seek peace, to end the war and insurgency and they failed. What are the new efforts that they are making? How likely are those new efforts going to succeed?”

UNICAL was today, hit by a Peaceful Protest from students agitating for better facilities and Amenities

Reports say that The Management of The University of Calabar failed to provide necessary amenities and carry out proper renovations of broken toilet facilities and buildings,routine check ups and are generally lackadaisical to the welfare of the students of UNICAL.....

THE students thought it wise to go out on a demonstration to show their dissatisfaction at the way things were generally done by the School Management...

The students carried placards, which read: “VC, give us water and light, students cannot study without light and water, electricity and water is our right,” among others in a protest that began by 5:30am today.

“Rats come to eat our legs when we sleep because everywhere is bushy and there is no light for more than three weeks now.
“Again, we have not had water for months now and students have to go long distances into the town to fetch water.” A student told our source.

Tree branches & broken bottles were littered all over neighboring streets of UNICAL as Students Demonstrated..Reports reaching Us also insisted that Security Personnels were no where to be found as the force of the demonstration took them by surprise..

Over 10 students that conversed with our source insisted that the VC, James Epoke was to blame for wide negligence towards the needs of the Students...

It is also worthy to note that some sections of the demonstrating students were violent and this led to drastic actions by the Management...

The School Management Passed the following to all Students of UNICAL...


"The Management of the University of Calabar has announced
a Two Week Mid Semester Break for all students of the
University with effect from today 12th October, 2015.

Students are expected to vacate the Hostels on or before
6:00pm to enable Management address the issues raised by
the students.
Normal academic activities would resume on Friday, 30th
October, 2015.

Note: No Student should be found on Campus, especially
within the Hostels after 6:00pm today 12th October 2015

Reports emanating from a Reliable Source indicates that an illicit investigation may have been initiated by President Muhammadu Buhari into the leadership of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC).

The investigation is believed to have been ordered as a result of the allegations of shady dealings levelled against EFCC leadership.

A reliable source from the office of the National Security Adviser said the investigation into the EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde, had commenced long before the allegation was made before the Senate by George Uboh of Panic Alert Security Services.

Uboh had accused Lamorde’s leadership of being unable to account for up to N1 trillion seized by the anti-graft agency.

Reports also insisted that the investigations is being coordinated by the office of the National Security Adviser as well as the National Intelligence Agency and Department of State Services.

“I have consistently asked them why they have closed their eyes to the corruption allegations against their own people. Why is their attention only on people from the Southern part of Nigeria? And now that Alamieyeseigha has been hounded and harassed to death, what else can the apostles of political vendetta do?
