KNIGHTBlaed: He was MVP at the Europe basketball league before coming to the NBA. He has already been up there so to continue will certainly not be a problem. The kid can only get better, the experience is there and he must have gotten used to taking the heat. He is in his second year and his game will only improve. He is already playing against the best in the world and has not slowed down, he's the go to man for his team and he does not shy from doing his thing. Injuries will certainly come and go but Luka can only get better. Same with Trae.
For Giannis, he might have some bad days, but falling back to earth? Unless he wants to retire and fall back to earth, Giannis will remain there.... That is if he does not even decide to improve his jumpers and get better (scary right? lol). maybe for luka but giannis has had hot streaks from 3 before. He will cool down. trust the bucks supporter |

Roland17: Now you are making subjective arguments that are illogical and not borne out of fact. You may want to read up on Luka. Kid started playing professional basketball at 14, he is years ahead of his peers in the NBA. Im just saying what i think to be true. The general concensus is that europeans are soft. Im not just a believer is all |

KNIGHTBlaed: Even if they average 50 points, having them in the conversation for MIP is like an insult to what they did last season. They were the best 2 coming into the NBA and are up there with the best. MIP is for those already in the league and playing at "poverty" level. Now you cannot improve from being a very good player to playing at MVP level and be in challenging with Bam Adebayo. No you should be competing with Bron, Giannis, AD, Harden and the best. If you catch my drift tho... Maybe your are right, but you do not have to sorely be playing on ' poverty' level to get mip. Many guys have won it jumping from 16 ppg to the 20's and 16 ppg is a solid starter in this league. Plus luka and trea never played at an elite level last year cause their teams sucked and they couldnt elevate it, both missed the playoffs i think. but yeah, maybe you are right. we learn everyday. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by RENOWNED2(m): 5:23pm On Dec 20, 2019 |
KNIGHTBlaed: Luka cannot be in the conversation for MIP, he was not playing poorly last season. It's the same with Trae, he has certainly improved this season, but they were not playing averagely last season (and it was their first season last time)..
Playing below average before and improving (playing well above average) after I believe is what should be considered. Luka was never playing below average, he was playing at elite level if these guys average good numbers and their teams are poor, say sub 36 wins, they are definitely in the running for mip. They might not win but they are definetely in the running. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by RENOWNED2(m): 5:20pm On Dec 20, 2019 |
KNIGHTBlaed: Why won't he? If Harden can sustain playing and scoring like he has done, nothing is stopping Luka. The kid is legit and we're looking at the future of the NBA. cause dude is a white guy from europe plus i doubt he has been 'medically fortified' if you know what i mean beign a 2nd year player and all but who knows. He might keep it up. Scoring 30 a game no be beans. I know for a fact that giannis is going to fall back to earth |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by RENOWNED2(m): 4:57pm On Dec 20, 2019 |
Roland17: So why has no player won the award twice despite the improvement in numbers? You are making my point, Luka is playing at an MVP level and has been steady at this level. he wont sustain it imo is all im saying. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by RENOWNED2(m): 4:55pm On Dec 20, 2019 |
Roland17: Let me help you here, James Harden averaged 36.1 last season and this season he is averaging 38.5, why is not in the MIP conversation?
Siakam went from 7.3 in 2017/2018 to 16.9 in 2018/2019 to win the MIP, this season he has gone up to 25.1, why is he not in the conversation?
Giannis won the award during the 2016/2017 season when he jumped from 16 PPG to 22, he has progressively gone from 16 to 31.8 PPG, so why is he not in the conversation this season or after he won it? harden cant win it cause those are mvp numbers, MIP is usually given those under the 25 to 26 ppg threshold. For siakam, the MIP is never given to individual more than once. same for giannis plus the dude has won an mvp. en dey go back or front? luka has never won mip and if he stays in the 25 and 6 range, he could win it. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by RENOWNED2(m): 4:36pm On Dec 20, 2019 |
Roland17: Do you know what the MIP award is and the criteria? If you do, please present it here.. oladipo averaged 18 game in orlando for 3 years, 16 in okc and 23 in indiana to win it. As long as you make good improvements in your game that isnt mvp level, then you are eligible. |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by RENOWNED2(m): 4:32pm On Dec 20, 2019 |
Roland17: Not saying he will win, he is in the conversation. I am only explaining why he can not be the MIP, he does not meet the criteria. Hmmn. luka averaged what last season? maybe 21 points? if he averages 26 and 6, he could most definitely win most improved player |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by RENOWNED2(m): 4:25pm On Dec 20, 2019 |
Roland17: His progress has not dipped since he entered the league so he does not qualify for that award. thats not how it works. He wasnt averaging these numbers last year, not even close |
Sports › Re: The NBA Begins by RENOWNED2(m): 4:21pm On Dec 20, 2019 |
Roland17: Luka was the rookie of the year last season, made all rookie first team and is gunning for the MVP this season. His progress has not dipped since he entered the league so he does not qualify for that award. luka isnt winning mvp this year, maybe next year. His productivity will drop off plus there is still the problem of giannis and harden. |

gbosaa: Those were not accidental knockdowns. Wilder might have been poor with his accuracy but he showed heart, aggression and most importantly, he was throwing those punches all through the 12 rounds. He showed no restraint or fear, right from the 1st round, you could see him working hard to get the job done. Fury showed confidence, some arrogance which nearly cost him. He fought well, good jabs and punches, his follow ups were poor probably because he was concerned about Wilder’s swinging punches.
None schooled each other. It was a fight of two warriors. They deserve lots of respect. Tyson won that fight man |

gbosaa: Show some respect to the boxers. Fury, Wilder and Joshua are the best heavy weight boxers on the planet. They are three individuals with three different physiques, styles and mentalities. Last night's fight was beautiful to watch, both men showed their characteristic attributes. Fury is taller and the bigger man. He used his longer reach, jabs and adaptability...changing to south paw to good effect, not forgetting his characteristic showboating which in my opinion did nothing to unfaze Wilder. He stuck to his game plan...jabs, taunting, tying up Wilder when the punches connect and stung and his main weapon, more precise punches when Wilder's right hand swings over his head. It's amazing how he was able to duck with his height and weight throughout the 12 rounds.
Wilder was his typical self, lots of respect to him. He was not intimidated by Fury's size and jabs. He got into it, breached Fury's reach and space throughout the bout, lots of decent body shots, lots of energy and power. For anyone questioning his stamina, i have one advice...try expending such amount of energy on a punching bag and see what it feels like. I did not think that his stamina should be the focal point here, he was so typically and incredibly intense with his energy and punches. He was unrelenting and i think he wanted to take Fury down and out asap. Fury is a giant of a man with amazing physical and mental strength and for a man his size, it even more surprising how quick he was in the fight. The constant jerking movement of head and hands are what you'd see in the lower class like bantam or light weight but he moved well, not sluggish like most heavy weights his size. Wilder missed a lot of his punches especially the right hand and he paid a bit for those errors, Fury capitalized and managed to sink in a couple of shots. ....But when the right hand connected, it rocked Fury enormously. At the 9th round, we saw what those punches could do when they connected, even though it was at the side and top of Fury's head. At the 12th, we witnessed again the effects of those helicopter or windmill swings as Fury would call them when they connect well to the side of the face (zygoma and temporo-mandibular joint/area).
Both men gave a good account of themselves, they thrilled boxing fans who stayed awake to watch it. The fight was full of action.
Verdict...I think the draw was a good result. The result could easily have gone to Wilder. A robbery would have been a Fury victory...I did not think he deserved to win. Not at all. They have different styles and used it to full effects. The taunting and showboating by Fury ( sticking out his tongue, raising his hands and other moves) only fooled most people, he used that to deceive people into believing that Wilder was not hurting him. It is a psychological thing meant deflect attention from the pains he was going through and also to destabilize Wilder. The message was " Is that all you have got" meant to make Wilder to commit blunder or walk into his trap.
Anthony Joshua has the physique...well chiseled, ribbed, strong, model, super hero kind of boxer, relatively young, handsome, holds the top belts. AJ is different and fights differently. He can not be compared to Fury and Wilder. While Fury uses his height, jabs and adaptability well, Wilder is know for his consistently explosive swinging punches...Joshua fights with discipline, different 'ringcraftship'. His jabs are powerful, so are his punches, he can appear inhibited or overly careful in my opinion but that prevents him from walking into surprising 'haymakers'. That i think also unsettles his opponents who expect him to react stupidly and brashly when he sustains some funny and annoying jabs and punches...Someone like Wilder would react out of anger and come swinging, A Tyson Fury would want to hit back almost immediately when he got hit...They do that to accumulate and consolidate on points especially when they are trying to win the rounds.
How would AJ fare against Fury and Wilder....It is hard to say till they get into the ring, I think Fury is the man to beat and whoever would do that need to be disciplined, aggressive and precise. Wilder has the aggression but he was not very precise. AJ might be very precise but he need the constant aggression to unsettle Fury and let the punches do the damage.
AJ vs Wilder would also be an interesting one. Do you know anything about boxing at all? |
