Who needs the sports officials and their fake hosting anyway? Buhari and his abóki brothers be treating our sports athletes like inconsequential and irrelevant people as if they went to represent Biafra at the Olympics.

How?

Lobbying (Bribing) legislooters to expedite passage of laws ain't an option
Neither is empowering a dictator.

Its like taking food from a set of predators and handing it to another one.

The legislature is there for a reason, they have a huge part to play, so instead of cutting it off, why not work at sanitising it? Afterall, Buhari is the corruption cleanser, he should manifest his cleaning talents on the legislooters.

Awesome, at least we've managed to reach a common ground.

So you had rather they don't bother implementing it or spend months dancing around the red tape even though we both agree their recommendations appears plausible
they should find a way to implement it without giving BUHARI more power than he needs.
Politics › Re: Economy: Buhari Not Seeking Emergency Powers- Presidency by repogirl(f): 12:21pm On Aug 23, 2016
jaybee3:
Buhari is not single handedly running the economy. The recommendations aren’t his on and surely the implementation will be delegated to the economic team.

Ignoring the request for sweeping powers for a minute, do you have problems with the recommendation of the economic team?
On paper their recommendations might seem viable. The problem is not in writing theoretic recommendations but in implementing it.

Even if you give a man all the tools he needs to work, can he get any job done with his hands tied behind his back?

The beauty of democracy is in the relationship the 3 arms of government have in delivering progress.

Buhari has proven over time that he cannot work with anyone.

Federal ministers have been reduced to messengers
Police is now like private army
And now, the Legislature is about to be done away with

The best path any democratic leader should take is to present a bill to the Legislature to amend, for instance, the procurement bill and lobby them for faster passage NOT looking for powers to set the bill aside.

US government has full time lobbyists to work with the Legislature and push any executive policy through, Buhari and El rufai just think they know the best and everyone else are zombies
They think everyone else are zombies because there are still many zombies who have refused to use their common sense.

There is a reason the laws were set like this in the first place but zombies are just Zombies.

OBJ didn’t have to work under suspicion of tribal and religion favouritism.
OBJ didn’t rule a polarised country at the time
OBJ didn’t work with bipartisan NASS
OBJ probably used corruption to achieve the meagre results he was able to achieve in his years at the helm. Are you suggesting Buhari plunders the treasury with reckless abandonment so the legislooters can get to work. You need to remember politics in Nigeria is all about party affiliation rather than championing causes for the development of the masses

At least you agree that the deterioration process was started during the previous organisation if your rapid deterioration comment is anything to go by. Now only illiterates who failed to understand basic economic principles will keep yarning dust about our current situation without magnifying the underlying cause and in turn supporting the leaders who are trying to provide sustainable longer term solutions to our basic problems.

Should we deplete our foreign reserves to stabilise the naira just so a select few can enjoy their imported goods?
Like I said earlier, BUHARI lacks the integrity, intelligence and general mindset to make this work.

If he is granted sweeping powers, it would most likely be hijacked by the notorious CABALS in his government we hear so much about.

So far he hasn't fairly managed the power he withholds and now he wants even more? That's never going to happen.

It's obvious you read it as claimed with a preconceived view of your president whilst idiotically failing to process the information

Isn't it obvious they were considering the idea in order to circumvent the obvious inherent delays/red tape that sometimes make policies/procedures difficult to navigate
I processed it very well basing my conclusion on Buharis track record of economic disaster both in 1984 and present, gross negligence for the law, unfair, lopsided, obvious favouritism and nepotism in making appointments and general incompetence etc.

OBJ did not need sweeping powers, neither did GEJ when Nigeria displaced SouthAftica to be the largest economy in the continent but here comes a self proclaimed Messiah with a past record of only failure to 'change' things for the worse.

After the rapid deterioration of the economy in barely a year of him in office, only a totally brainless idíot would be optimistic that anything can come forth from this government with their trial and error tactics that have achieved only gross negative results.

You don't give sweeping power of any kind to a madman.. Yes Buhari is a madman and giving him that power is a suicide mission for our country's democracy. After giving him sweeping economic power, he will seek for sweeping security power to fight insecurity and when that happens, then it's safe to say bye bye to our democracy.. That's how tyrant rulars start.. Buhari must abide by our extant laws in all his dealings, if he can't do that, then he should step aside.
Simple! He should kindly step aside if he can't abide by our laws!

This bill should be rejected. Buhari is not a man of integrity and is too much of a dullard for this idea to work positively for Nigerians.

Deuteronomy 17
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant; 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 17:4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel; 17:5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.
This alone is okay for a prove
As True believing Christians who have accepted Jesus as Lord and Saviour, we work under Grace and not Moses Laws.

Jesus Christ said to love your neighbours as you would love yourself and this is the greatest commandment of all.

'The second is equally important: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' No other commandment is greater than these." Mark 12:³¹

Father, before you were crying that people are hungry, angry and there was danger in the land because Buhari is destroying the economy...now Buhari has become God's answer to the people.

What has suddenly changed in the space of a few weeks? You are sounding very much like a confused zombie, if you don't know.

So they now want a bill to enable Buhari to sell Nigeria to the Fulanis?

Sweeping powers ko, Mopping power ni!

We don't accept. President MuMu dictator should list what he wants to sell and who he wants to sell to and send to the NASS for approval.

Without sweeping powers this country displaced South Africa to be the largest economy.

President olodo doesn't need any more powers than he has presently otherwise this country will be completely buried in the ground by the time he sells Nigeria to his family of retards and imbecilic brothers who don't know what to do with anything.
