I'm stating the fact!

You, KingInValhala (Biafrabushboy), Maxi122 (Senibo1) have been the ones insisting Ivyy should get banned. The common denominator is that you're all on Refiner's team.

Some mischievous persons have started shifting the blame to Lanicky's team and Mimzy's team.

Carry your cross.

Whatever happens, it is Refiner's team against Ivyy's team, period!

Just remember that Ivyy's supporters comprises of Nairaland moderators too. You're on your own.
seriously? Quote where any one of us insisted on a ban for her.

Go and read properly and stop forming rubbish and attaching my name to it.

You are most definitely on your own!

Some people have more rooms in their houses than they need, throw lavish parties more expensive than expensive luxury cars while others can't even afford a mattress to lie on.

Gosh!

For the records, Biafrabushboy, Senibo1, Thagift and Repogirl are members of Refiner's team.

They are the ones who started this controversy and who have been creating threads, not Mimzy's team or Lanicky's team or even Mysticgal's team.

Learn to blame accordingly!

I can see some people trying to blame members of other heavyweight teams.
Get your facts right! Thagift isn't on refiners team.

Just because someone creates a thread doesn't mean the person is opposition.

First thing you should ask yourself is whether she was right or wrong, but I can definitely answer that for you as you believe the problem here is the people that opened the thread and not the offence that was committed .

Oh..and I suppose Se.un is on refi.ner's team because in his opinion, the erring contestant should be disqualified!

Hi T,

We spoke yesternite and i didn't wanna bring this up till i saw this comment.

I wonder why this is still an issue.

You do know i write on Economic policies and i am also a part of Ivyy's advisory team, who advised her on answering said particular question. The said words being quoted on-here was taken out of a Paid Research report, as such, plagiarism is not an issue.

If someone can asked what devaluation is, it also mean i can ask the contestants to explain the working dynamics of a lathe machine (well, i studied engineering), as such, i expect them to know it too. (Don't ask my why).
Yes, we talked about this and I didn't agree with your explanation. I agreed to modify my post on that thread because you requested it. Didn't mean I would shut up about it and let it slide when it was clearly wrong.

This is an issue for me,because what is wrong is wrong. Being a lowly writer myself, it irks me to see even a small piece of my work published somewhere without my consent.

Just because in this part of the world we overlook things doesn't suddenly make it okay or normal. Paid research or not, someone owns that work and when you copy it without a reference to the person's work,it is plagiarism.

Now, the judges have cleared the air, and I am in agreement with their decision but still doesn't change the fact that what was done here wasn't right.

If the owner of that work takes offence and decides to press charges , he/she is well within his rights and most likely would win the case.

People don't understand the gravity of these things and we need to educate them. That's all I'm doing. This is not a smear campaign and this is not the first time I have fought against plagiarists on this forum.....

Besides, I really didn't know advisers were part of the interviews also. We all thought we were reading the opinions of the contestants and not their advisers.

Is that allowed in the rules? Oh wait! Are there even any rules?
The plagiarist should be disqualified in my view.
Cc. Dygeasy
Wristbangle.

Some people are saying it wasn't even one of the judges questions but as far as she replied on the interview thread and the intent was to bamboozle people into believing the answer was solely her's and gotten from her own intellect.... then she cheated and deceived, simple!

Cheated, deceived, stole and lied.

Clear cut copy and paste without reference to the source is simply plagiarism. I agree that a disqualification might be too harsh but that is the reality of this sort of thing. It is a serious, punishable offence.

What even adds insult upon injury is that she has refused to own up to it, when the evidence is glaring in our faces.

She could have shut this thing down in the beginning with a simple, yes, I got it from here but it was to buttress my point and sorry, I didn't realise I had to put the source. Simple.

Instead her camp came out with all sorts of watery excuses that cant hold garri, not to talk of water. Some even attempted to redefine the word, plagiarism. Hilarious!

Well, I hope someone has learnt a thing or two today. You don't copy someone's work word for word without reference to it or if you need to, then re arrange it and explain it in your own terms. Simple.

Lezzlie:
Are you by any means trying to redefine the word plagiarism on the pages of Nairaland ?

She doesn't have to lift the entire work or text. Copying a substantial part (phrase or unmodified clause) without permission or reference is outright plagiarism.

Have you forgotten, the well-worn scripting in copyright protection: No PART OF THIS WORK MAYBE COPIED......
Thank you!

This is heartbreaking. Just found out they have deleted Biafrabushboy's thread
they will soon delete this one also.

Good question!

Some people claim what she did is nothing serious, yet three threads have been shut down because of the issue!

If it's nothing, why hide the threads?

The contestants in this contest should use their God given intellects and stop copying other people's work!
