As part of political realignment ahead of the
2019 general elections, President Muhammadu
Buhari’s strategists are wooing the South-East,
SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt.
It was gathered in Abuja on Saturday that the
President had directed that infrastructure gaps
in the South-East should be bridged. It was also learnt that apart from reviving old alliances with associates, the president’s allies were also counting on political bridges built by northern politicians with their eastern counterparts over the years. In addition to these political moves, Buhari was said to have ordered contractors handling various infrastructural projects in the zone to return to site. This is aimed at ensuring the speedy completion of the rehabilitation of some federal roads in the region. Findings showed that emphasis would be placed on the following projects: Port Harcourt-Aba Road, Abriba-Arochukwu-Ohafia Road (Abia State,; Oji-Achi-Obeagu-Mmaku-Awgu-Ndeaboh- Mpu-Okpanku Road (Enugu State), Second Niger Bridge and the Ikot Ekpene Border-Aba-Owerri Road (Akwa Ibom/Abia and Imo States). Buhari is also said to be eager to erase the impression that he would punish the zone for voting against him during the 2015 election. This is coming on the heels of subtle threats by some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, especially from the South-West, to reassess their membership. A prominent member of the party, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “Of course, a lot of realignment is going on. “Even the media war between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, should tell you something.” He added, “The 2015 elections taught us that no part of this country can be ignored. The PDP took the North-Central for granted and they paid for it. The news from the South-West is giving us concerns but we are addressing the issues. We don’t want to leave anything to chance. “The president is a better politician than many are willing to give him credit for. He listens, he has instructed that infrastructure, especially roads in the zone, be revisited. He knows such projects have a direct impact on the lives of ordinary people.” The Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, however, said it would be wrong to give political colouration to the president’s desire to give every part of Nigeria a sense of belonging. He explained that in one of his first acts as president, Buhari approved a bailout for interested state governments, irrespective of political affiliations to access funds to pay their workers, some of whom were owed up to 18 months. Okechukwu said, “The rehabilitation of roads has started across the land not only in the South- East. Mr. President is looking for the best way to meet up with the promises we made during the campaign. “On the issue of our south-eastern brothers coming back home to the APC where they belong, you and I know that nobody can poach somebody like Orji Uzor Kalu. He is not a hungry man.” The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Garba Shehu, could not be reached for a reaction as calls to his mobile telephone were neither picked nor returned. There was no response to a text message sent to him as of the time of filing this report. However, a highly placed Presidency source told our correspondent, “I am not aware of any special plan for the South-East but I know a stakeholders’ meeting similar to what was held for the South-South is being planned for the South-East (Zone) this year.” … FERMA repairs federal roads in Imo Motorists and road users in Imo State have begun to heave a sigh of relief as the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency commenced repairs of some failed stretches of federal roads in the state. The motorists plying the busy Owerri-Obowo- Umuahia road described the repairs as timely and requested the agency to sustain the tempo of the reconstruction. One of the commuters, Mr. Benjamin Mgbelechi, told our correspondent that the deplorable state of the road had forced motorists to look for detours before joining the main alignment, which he said occasionally led to crashes. Mgbelechi noted that the state of the road had caused untold hardships to road users, adding that it is not uncommon for motorists who use the road to visit mechanic workshops more often than not. Another motorist, Mr. Cletus Ohiri, stated that at Enyiogugu Mbaise axis, motorists witnessed constant traffic gridlock. He said, “Owing to washout at that spot, motorists spend hours in heavy traffic.” A 54-year-old resident of Umulogho in Obowo LGA, Mr. Okechukwu Isika, said the bad state of the road made it easy for robbers to operate. Isika commended FERMA, adding that the repairs would save many ugly situations especially as Christmas approaches. A trader, Mrs. Juliet Njoku, also noted that the bad road had affected their businesses negatively. She said, “We pay through the nose to convey our goods to the markets. Even when we get to the market, the goods are not sold because of the (delayed) time of delivery. “Also, when we add money to the goods to make up for the high transportation fare, people don’t buy. They usually say the price is high.” A FERMA Engineer in Imo, Mr. Chukwuemeka Maduagwu, said the agency would ensure that federal roads are without potholes and failed spots. Maduagwu said, “Within the limit of available resources, we will ensure that all failed sections along our vital economic routes receive attention within the shortest possible time, especially as Christmas approaches with expected increase in traffic.” |

A romance writer has listed some
top characteristics of men that
prompt ladies to drop their self-
value and fall cheaply for the male
folks.
I don’t want ladies to consider this
article as a form of condemnation
but to correct their wrong lifestyle.
We are in the era where a larger
percentage of ladies view money as
love and most times this is the
reason why some of them are not
respected in the society and further
encounter humiliation from guys.
Whenever they spot a guy with
affluent and influential status, they
quickly initiate s*xual advances and
surrender their body worthlessly to
him without considering his
attitude and source of income, so
long as he spends lavishly on them.
This is a list of some common
attirbutes men possess that
accelerate the way women fall for
them:
1. Flamboyant AssetSome ladies
are in habit of erroneously shaking
their butt and exposing their
breasts when they spot guys using
flashy cars, expensive phones and
also live at amusing residents such
as Lekki, Banana island, Garki, etc.
Such category of ladies who do not
have anything to offer aside their
kitty cat cannot earn any atom of
respect and can never have a place
in his heart. 2. Relative of a
business tycoon
Immediately they hear that a guy is
a close relative of Otedola,
Adenuga, Ubah and Dangote, they
will start hunting him like a
frustrated rooster chasing a hen. If
such hunting exercise can only be
channel to improving their career,
the population of gold diggers must
have reduced by now.
3. Celebrity status
I know that male celebrities must
have received sexual
embarrassment from female fans
who express their lust and
obsession to them on social media
and in reality. The height of
stupidity which got my head
spinning was a lady on twitter who
said she can commit suicide if a
male celebrity does not marry her.
4. Huge account balance
Some people may think this is a
make up story but it happened few
months ago when I wanted to
withdraw at an ATM booth, the lady
in front of me was stylishly viewing
the account balance of the man
checking his details on the ATM
machine. Immediately he left, she
equally left chasing the man to
collect his number. Perhaps she
must have seen the big figures in
his account but the funny scenario
was when the man openly called
the lady a big thief. Omo come see
how people dey laugh cheesy5. Big salary earner
Ladies with gold digging instinct lay
sexual traps for guys working in Oil
and Gas, top FCMG, consulting and
other reputable companies because
they know that their monthly salary
cannot be less than 6 digits figure
which will be enough to
supplement their financial needs.
6. Abroad based
It beats my imagination why some
ladies prefer to choose someone
who claims to reside in abroad just
because they are looking for an
escape route to leave the country.
Even though it has worked for few,
most ladies who made this choice
have experienced chronic heart
break.
7. Connection with top politicians
One cannot entirely blame our
female folks for choosing someone
who is financially buoyant but the
decision to render their body cheap
when they hear a guy is working or
connected with a top politician is an
act I condemn. Meanwhile when
EFCC probes the guy, they will
denounce ever meeting him.
8. Attractive physical appearance
Some ladies cannot even hold the
excitement in their body when they
spot guys with good looks, excellent
dressing sense and cute stature.
They don’t care if his occupation is
legitimate but when he maltreats
them, they will write story that
touches the heart to ridicule all
guys. |
Prophet
President Muhammadu Buhari
A prophet and commentator on
national affairs, Rev. Dr. Felix
Nwosu, has counselled President
Muhammadu Buhari to be careful
with the state of his health this year
to avert imminent medical
challenges.
Delivering his New Year predictions
in Lagos, Rev. Nwosu, General
Overseer of Christ Foundation
Sabbath Mission, stated that if
President Buhari fails to heed to the
warning, he may be forced to spend
a long time abroad on medical trip.
He stated that this development
may throw up a lot of controversies
which the opposition will hinge on
to create crises which may heat up
the polity and destabilise the
administration.
Nwosu stressed: “The President
should be careful with his health.
He should make use of his
lieutenants and ministers the more
and should not over stress himself
considering his age.
“If he over stresses himself, the
health challenge that may arise
may create controversies that may
heat up the polity. Nigerians should
pray for the president to enjoy
good health this year.”
Nwosu also urged the Nigerian
Governors Forum (NGF) to be
prayerful and alert as one of the
governors may not survive the new
year.
As he put it, “One sitting governor
may not survive 2016. The
governors should be on alert and
pray against death among them.”
The cleric warned that Nigerians
should not hope for too much for
improved life as the economy will
still be at stand still, adding that all
efforts by government to improve
the economy may be in vain.
“The beauty of democracy is
progress. I do not see it manifesting
as the economy will be under siege.
Nigerians will continue to complain,
including the labour movement,
and the opposition will cash on this
to work against the government. Nwosu also warned the government against taking huge foreign loans which will lead to further devaluation of the naira, even as he counselled the government not to allow the economy to suffer more setback. The cleric also urged the government to desist from taking harsh policy decisions that will scare away foreign investors and force the existing ones to troop out of the country, even as he added that sports and entertainment will bring some joy among Nigerians and brighten the nation’s image. He also warned against actions and policies that may lead to labour unrest as the private sector, including the banks, may want to lay off workers. Such actions, he stressed, may lead to the escalation of crimes like armed robbery, kidnapping and ritual killings, adding that serious prayers should be made to check the activities of some leaders which may provoke God against the nation. Nwosu also predicted that there will be an unholy alliance between the Middle Belt and the South East geo-political zones this year for the control of the soul of the nation in the coming political dispensation. He said: “There will be a problem in the Middle Belt and South East. An unholy alliance is about to be formed which if not checked, will create problems in Nigeria. If this unholy alliance between the Middle Belt and South East is not checked, it will cause disharmony and instability and will lead to insecurity and lives of non-indigenes in several places will be under threat. “There will be uprising and agitations. Let the President and his cabinet exercise a lot of wisdom if there will be peace in 2016.” Nwosu stressed that the purpose of the alliance is to ensure that Nigeria divides during Buhari’s tenure, stressing that the crises that will ensue from it will adversely affect the economy as foreign investors will be afraid to come to the country. Nwosu also warned the Press to be careful to avert several attacks on media houses this year, even as he called on the government to give maximum protection to media houses for the practitioners to carry out their responsibilities in dignity. “The Press should not be anti- people. I see many media chiefs being kidnapped and tortured. So, they should be careful this year,” Nwosu warned. On insecurity, the cleric warned that the Boko Haram attack will not abate so soon, as they will become more deadly from the end of January and may take more dangerous dimensions. “The military should not relax. They should keep the sect on their toes as the battle has not been won yet,” he stressed. He called on the government to be careful as it puts emphasis on agriculture, warning that scammers will try to defraud the nation heavily through agriculture this year. Nwosu also called on the government to subsidise education to ensure the healing of the nation, adding that “government’s poor handling of the education sector creates a lot of crises in the nation, as the stakeholders are not allowed to contribute adequately to national development. Scores of people were on Saturday evening roasted by fuel fire that engulfed Molete area of Ibadan in Oyo State. A truck carrying fuel, it was gathered, fell at the popular Molete Under- Bridge at about 9p.m and spilt its content on the road. The fuel connected the nearby drainage and travelled a long distance before it caught fire. Checks by Daily Sun revealed that many roadside traders, passersby, commercial motorcyclists, motorists and others in the vicinity at the time, suddenly saw themselves on fire. Eyewitnesses said a pregnant woman and her child as well as a mother and her two children were among the victims of the inferno. The fuel tanker, according to reports, was coming from Challenge end of Molete before it had a brake failure. The driver reportedly lost control of the tanker before it rammed into a pole, which led to the tragedy. Some football lovers were said to be discussing the loss of Nigeria to Sudan by one goal in the first leg of the Africa Confederation Cup qualifiers under the bridge when the fire disaster began. Also, the inferno was said to have been cruel to many people who ran into nearby shops for cover, roasting them with the shops. The driver of the tanker, according to eyewitnesses, was also killed in the rampaging fire. He was said to be shouting brake failure in order to alert the people to the impending danger before the accident occurred. A man, who introduced himself as Adekunle Ayinla, said but for the timely intervention of a combined team of fire fighters and security operatives, the tragedy would have been worse. Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has described the inferno, which resulted in the death of an unspecified number of persons, as another sad chapter in the history of the state despite the untiring efforts of the present administration to forestall the occurrence of such incidents in all parts of the state. The APC, in a statement issued by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, said the Molete inferno was not only unfortunate but also devastating in view of the fact that Oyo State “at the moment has a government which prioritises every pro-active measure required to guarantee the safety and well-being of the people ir respective of their status or background.” “It is most unfortunate that a disaster of this magnitude can befall our dear state again after the administration of Senator Abiola Ajimobi had left no one in doubt of its passion for a disaster-free, violence-free and crime-free society. We take this as an act of God even as we share in the agony of the victims and members of their family,” the statement added Meanwhile, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has commiserated with families of those who lost their lives in an inferno at the Molete area of Ibadan, the state capital, praying that God will give them the fortitude to bear the loss. A tanker had somersaulted last Saturday night beside the Molete Bridge, discharging its content in the process and went into flame, which resulted in the death of many people, many of whom were roadside traders. Governor Ajimobi, who arrived at about 8 am, was conducted round the scene of the inferno by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kola Sodipo. The governor ordered that a crane be brought immediately to take the carcass of the tanker that had caused gridlock to allow for free traffic flow. Speaking with journalists, Ajimobi commiserated with the families of the deceased and urged them to take solace in the fact that death would come when it would. He said many who sought to take political advantage of his administration’s genuine love for the people of the state, espe cially street traders, must have seen the danger of politicising sincere government policies. |
Odilafta:so dear u knew all this things wow that's great but how do u know that he put condoms in the bible lol lol |
I came across this in a discussion class, so I decided to put it here for us to say some thing on it. IS SOCIOLOGY A SCIENCE? Lets go |
Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has explained that his defection from All Pro gressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was not because of any grouse against his former party. Speaking with journalists during an interactive session with Igbo group in Lagos State, Obi said: “There is nothing wrong with APGA and my joining the PDP has nothing to do with APGA. I enjoy cordial relationship with Chief Willie Obiano and the government is doing well. I will continue to support him in building a better Anambra State for the good of the children of the state.” Asked the main reason he left APGA, the former governor said it was because of his resolve to be strongly involved in President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid. “Mr. President is doing very well. He has a lot of policies in place that will transform the country if re-elected. We shall support him fully for the benefit of the country,” he said. National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Olisa Metuh, who said never in the history of the PDP was such a delegation sent to persuade people to join the party, led the delegation. He said they had to do it in Obi’s case because of his past performance and the value he would bring to the party. Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State recently joined the PDP, saying it was not because of Ondo State or the Labour Party, but that it would offer him the opportunity to support the president more. Obi, who also cited the same reason, said he had discussed the matter with Mimiko on several occasions. Source www.sunnewsonline.com |
WHO declares Nigeria, Senegal free of disease this week Sex could keep the Ebola epidemic alive even after the World Health Organization (WHO) declares an area free of the disease, one of the discoverers of the deadly virus said yesterday. The WHO is hoping to announce later this week that Nigeria and Senegal are free of Ebola after 42 days with no infections, the standard period for declaring an outbreak over, twice the maximum 21-day incubation period of the virus. However, it appears the disease can last much longer in semen. “In a convalescent male, the virus can persist in semen for at least 70 days; one study suggests persistence for more than 90 days,” the WHO said in an information note on Monday. “Certainly, the advice has to be for survivors to use a condom, to not have unprotected sex, for 90 days,” said Peter Piot, a professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a discoverer of Ebola in 1976. “If we would apply the rule for double the time, that would be 180 days, six months. I think it (90 days) is probably a compromise, for practicality,” he told a news conference in Geneva. Ebola spreads via bodily fluids such as blood and saliva, but it has also been detected in breast milk and urine, as well as semen, the WHO said. The whole live virus has never been isolated from sweat, however. More than 3,400 people are already known to have died in the world’s worst Ebola outbreak on record, the vast majority of them in three West African countries: Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
