yarimo:hmmm make I start to search for plugs be that |
For the past one week, My Honda Accord has been doing hard starting, especially in the mornings and whenever it is parked for more than 5 minutes. The issue began after I replaced the speed sensors. During scanning, the car showed a misfire, so the mechanic worked on the injectors and installed brand new NGK spark plugs. The car started immediately afterward, was test-driven, and all warning lights (check engine, brake, VSA, ABS) cleared. I drove home without problems, but the next morning it refused to start. The engine kept cranking and the green key light kept on blinking as if it did not recognize my key. It eventually started after several attempts and idled normally. Later that day at work, the same thing happened again. After the second crank, the check engine light came on. My scanner showed codes P060A and P1659, both pointing to ECU issues. I researched and found out that other Accord 2008 - 2012 owners encountered similar problems as soon as they changed their sparkplugs, some went ahead to replace their ECU but the fault persisted. They suggested changing sparkplugs, I did that this evening - problem still on, another suggested getting a new battery, I did that too still no fix. One suggested getting back my old plugs, but we can't find the old plugs anymore My mechanic is yet to suggest anything at the moment so I don't waste money anyhow. I just dey regret bothering myself with fixing the vsa and the misfiring ever since. The hard start has embarrassed me on multiple occasions within the space of one week |

N wa for una here, It is unfair to conclude that Soyinka isn't smart. I graduated with a 2:1 myself, and I can confidently say that my performance could have been even better had I not been heavily involved in extracurricular activities. Academic grades alone don't fully capture a person's intelligence or potential |
Banga beats them all. Nothing compares to it. Also you can update your ogbono with okro to renew the soup after a while |
2pac is alive jare, we all know he most definitely faked his death |
I have never personally seen a car that uses 20w50. If the most common car in Nigeria is the Toyota Corolla, and it uses a 5w30 oil grade, and most Camry vehicles use 5w30 or 0w20, most Hondas commonly found in Nigeria use 5w20, and most Nissans have a factory recommendation of 5w30, and even most Mercedes-Benz models use 5w40 or 5w30, then the question is: What cars actually use 20w50 semi-synthetic or non-synthetic oil to justify the fact that this oil type is the most widely stocked by oil marketers in Nigeria, while the more appropriate oils mentioned above are scarce? What is the rationale behind this? Is it a deliberate attempt to ensure car engines go bad in Nigeria, so that mechanics like Kazeem can profit from engine rinsing and the sale of used (tokunbo) engines? I genuinely want to understand why the Nigerian market is flooded with 20w50 and Mobil 2000/3000 oils. Don’t the importers and marketers of these oils know that 20w50 is outdated and unsuitable for most modern engines? |
Bentacur007:ignore what I posted earlier na space booking tactics sir. 40 characters wahala of nairaland |
It's quite sad that an ApC man is resolving another party's problems. PDP really fell off, Jagaban tinubu is a man of peace. The entire APC system is united politically because of his efforts from day one. I wish others will follow suit and I really don't know how they'll unsit him in 2027 if their own houses are divided. |
joceey:Baba they are the worst o. They made me feel as though if I did the reversal, my car won't make it past three blocks before exploding. I'm still wondering who started this bypass in Nigeria |
Dwarfgod:thank you, I'll take this into consideration. For the first three days I drove for 2 hours at a stretch without the AC, and it did not overheat. My eyes dey glued to the gauge for the first three days afterwards, I just dey glance normally once in a while sha. |
2cribz:Same golf 4 wey wan finish my friend, car that is barely two years old, he spends most times in mech shop than he does driving it. |
2cribz:just imagine the kind of cars you are recommending to someone eyeing a civic. You can instead advice the person to increase their budget or better still look for clean naija used. From civic to micra? Bros fear God o. Op I will advise you don't go after either. The topping of gas na popular street slang. Kindly look for a direct seller not those jiji sellers of vehicles, na rubbish many done package wait intending buyers. Some are even stolen o, so be careful there. Redflags: 1. If the plate number is covered - Runnnnnn 2. If the owner says he sold that particular one but is now offering you another one - Runnnn 3. If the papers are not complete - Runnnn 4. If the colour differs from the particulars, runnnn, most times it's stolen. 5. If them wan top gas - runnn, to top gas nor pass 10k max why has the owner not done so since, this will even add more value to the said car. 6. If the owner just sprayed it - runn, they are trying to blind your mind from seeing the faults beyond the beautiful outward state of the car. Try to check for ads from people with old accounts but with fewer ads unrelated to cars, those are direct owners. Go with your mechanic o 3m is a reasonable price for a Nigerian used civic 2006 - 2011 in my own opinion. A friend got one (civic 2008) for 3.2m last month, super nice car, in an out clean, owner got a new ride hence he wanted to sell this one off. |
Over the last two years I've been struggling with my Altima 2005's high fuel consumption. I bought it Nigerian used by the way. After purchasing the car, I noticed that the fans were always working constantly as soon as the ignition is turned on, I never knew it was the previous owner who did the bypass to be operating like that, until I saw another 2005 Altima two weeks ago, car was so silent and the owner told me he barely spends 10k for fueling. I was surprised. My own Altima was consuming so much fuel, I thought it was a general issue, I checked out the mpg online and realized it's barely above what a Camry consumes. I ventured into getting to the root of the matter, low and behold I finally found the culprit - it was my thermostat and fan bypass through two relays installed. I read so many threads on nairaland from ikenna's early posts from way back 2011 and other nairalanders. I discovered our kazeems are the worst when it comes to automobile maintenance and fixes in Nigeria. I bought a thermostat for my Nissan, installed that then I also reverted the fans back to factory settings. Initially I was spending nothing less than 35-50k weekly on fuel, but since I removed the so called relay and reinstalled my thermostat, my fuel consumption reduced so much, tomorrow's Friday and I'm yet to spend up to 15k fuel this week on the car. I still have over 20k fuel left in my tank. God will judge all mechanics and electricians removing people's thermostat and bypassing fans. The way my car is now so silent ehn, the fan only comes on when I turn on the AC or when I am at a stop sign, some times it does not even come on at stop signs. It's just super great right now. I was already planning to sell it at any price. I spend over 150k on fuel monthly, at this rate I may not be spending above 60-70k again. By the way, I approached like six different technicians to revert the bypass with the so-called annoying relays that I was always changing every two months. They refused. Stating our weather is different from oyinbo weather. Until the last guy did it for me last week Saturday. |
leTrizzle:o wow, but yhe car was driving okay before all these. Just the bearings making some funny noises |
I went to replace the front bearings of my car today and now my car drifts to the leftside when driving. Plus I can feel the steering is a bit hard and also I can smell burning rubber coming from the front left tyre. I had to leave it at the office and book bolt home, I was scared it could lead to something more dangerous |
eligwe2019:Just imagine |
Angrygoat:what's cold start? |
I have a Nissan Altima 2002, it suddenly started to misfire and rough idle aka vibrating hard when idle. I knew something was off, first texhnician said I should just keep on using it like that, that it will get better with time, that it's nothing major. I finally found a Said Nissan expert who said my car had issues with my first ignition coil that it needed to be worked on, I took it back to him the next day and the car was rough idling and was hard starting. Baba started to test all my coils again, before you know it, he tore open my dashboard and carried on with the testing and finally concluded that my brain box was not supplying current that I needed to buy a new brainbox and then bring it for him to install alongside with his friend who will do the programming for me. Everything was going to cost me roughly 140,000naira I ran to nairaland to lay complaint and someone suggested ebay, I jumped on ebay and Saw a programmed model for 350,000niara. A friend now suggested we check out another technician So we went back to Igun in Benin and found a certain young man, he was very learned, but seemed to be a man of few words, we explained how the car was acting up and then he popped the hood open and told me to start the car, he did some testing and three minutes later told me to give his boy 3,000naira to get new coil socket plugs, which I did, he installed two new ones and removed the old ones. And then told me to start the car again and boom, everything was back to normal. I ended up spending less than 10k, I've been cruising my ride since morning o. God saved me from the hands of kazeem today. |
myrax7:I'm having his exact same issue, first coil won't supply current, and they said it's my brain box that's is bad. Mine is a nissan altima 2002, where you able to fix this please |
chieni:But how are Indians earning 100k on Upwork and yet have very terrible badly written profile overview. How are they doing it? |
chieni:Extremely crowded. He choke |
Also my scanner stills throws up this p0745 code which I believe is related to my transmission pressure solenoid, I'm yet to do a complete drain of the old transmission fluid, if I do this will it fix the problem? Or do I need to get a new transmission solenoid ? |
Electrician guy was trying to fix my crankshaft sensor which he could not fix due to him not having the exact spanner tool for the job, anyways my AC has stopped working afterwards, the compressor wont start. I called him yesterday evening he said he's coming on Monday to check it out. Should this be a cause for alarm. Nissan Altima 2002. Has my compressor gone bad all of a sudden? He was also trying to fix my wiper which has stopped working. I don't know what really caused the AC to stop functioning. |

Please experts in the house, these error codes displayed will it cost me huge money to get them fixed? My car is currently doing hard starting ever since I got it. Its a Nissan Altima 2005. Very nice ride just the hard start that happens most times. Scanned the car and this came out as the top problems. Recently i drove it in a very bad road at night and I hit quite a handful of bumps inside the flood and now the exhaust is pretty loud. baconline:the car is a Honda civic 2008. Working very well with chilling AC and all, barely been less than 100k mileage |
sarkinbauchi:And the car drives well? As in no issues afterward abi |
Thanks everyone, I've decided not to pursue this again. I nor wan die young because of motor wahala |
I've got a car deal worth half the market price, however the car is right handed, I have reached out to a few persons they said the conversion is quite easy with getting new dashboard and complete wiring and wipers. However, I have never seen one done before. Please experts in the house converting an honda civic from right hand to left hand drive, is it a good call or bad one? Should I let it go? |
What's going with Upwork? I hardly get invites these days. All through last month only once, this month is almost over and nothing. I used to get multiple per week, my JSS is still 100% top rated plus is still there |
I laff tire all this kazeem dem sabi do wuru wuru to the answer
