Car Talk / Re: Maintenance Tips On Cars. by reverendfather: 8:58pm On Nov 24, 2023
I went to replace the front bearings of my car today and now my car drifts to the leftside when driving. Plus I can feel the steering is a bit hard and also I can smell burning rubber coming from the front left tyre.

I had to leave it at the office and book bolt home, I was scared it could lead to something more dangerous

My brother, also had the same issue with my Kia Rio 2013 model. Rough idling and won't fire smoothly. Called a guy who goes around with fancy gadgets and boasting how he resolved issues on Maybach and BMW cars.
He claimed I need to change my brainbox. I sought another opinion from another tech guy who diagnosed the car and only changed the plugs.
I am having the cruise of my life.
Since then, when I see the olodo Maybach guy I de sorry for anyone who allows him touch their vehicle.

Car Talk / Kazeem Almost Made Me Get A New Brainbox For My Car by reverendfather: 5:01pm On Nov 21, 2023
I have a Nissan Altima 2002, it suddenly started to misfire and rough idle aka vibrating hard when idle. I knew something was off, first texhnician said I should just keep on using it like that, that it will get better with time, that it's nothing major.
I finally found a Said Nissan expert who said my car had issues with my first ignition coil that it needed to be worked on, I took it back to him the next day and the car was rough idling and was hard starting. Baba started to test all my coils again, before you know it, he tore open my dashboard and carried on with the testing and finally concluded that my brain box was not supplying current that I needed to buy a new brainbox and then bring it for him to install alongside with his friend who will do the programming for me. Everything was going to cost me roughly 140,000naira

I ran to nairaland to lay complaint and someone suggested ebay, I jumped on ebay and Saw a programmed model for 350,000niara. A friend now suggested we check out another technician

So we went back to Igun in Benin and found a certain young man, he was very learned, but seemed to be a man of few words, we explained how the car was acting up and then he popped the hood open and told me to start the car, he did some testing and three minutes later told me to give his boy 3,000naira to get new coil socket plugs, which I did, he installed two new ones and removed the old ones. And then told me to start the car again and boom, everything was back to normal.
I ended up spending less than 10k, I've been cruising my ride since morning o. God saved me from the hands of kazeem today.

I have a 4 plug engine and it was observed that there is no spark on the first ignition coil.We changed the ignition coil but the fault still remained.
After several checks from different rewires, it was deduced that the brainbox is bad.
For over 3 weeks we have been going back and forth to ladipo but have not been able to get the exact BrainBox. The Brainbox been sold to us isn't compatible with the car.
I need help with directions on what to do or where I can go check to see if u can get this brain box

I'm having his exact same issue, first coil won't supply current, and they said it's my brain box that's is bad. Mine is a nissan altima 2002, where you able to fix this please

But how are Indians earning 100k on Upwork and yet have very terrible badly written profile overview. How are they doing it?

Also my scanner stills throws up this p0745 code which I believe is related to my transmission pressure solenoid, I'm yet to do a complete drain of the old transmission fluid, if I do this will it fix the problem? Or do I need to get a new transmission solenoid ?
Car Talk / Re: Tell Us Your Car Fault Lets Assess And Fix Them by reverendfather: 7:32am On Oct 15, 2023
Electrician guy was trying to fix my crankshaft sensor which he could not fix due to him not having the exact spanner tool for the job, anyways my AC has stopped working afterwards, the compressor wont start. I called him yesterday evening he said he's coming on Monday to check it out. Should this be a cause for alarm. Nissan Altima 2002. Has my compressor gone bad all of a sudden?

He was also trying to fix my wiper which has stopped working. I don't know what really caused the AC to stop functioning.

Please experts in the house, these error codes displayed will it cost me huge money to get them fixed? My car is currently doing hard starting ever since I got it. Its a Nissan Altima 2005. Very nice ride just the hard start that happens most times.

Scanned the car and this came out as the top problems.
Recently i drove it in a very bad road at night and I hit quite a handful of bumps inside the flood and now the exhaust is pretty loud.

The trouble is the wiring , pay a electrician good money so that the wires will not be messed up, the mechanical parts are the easiest to do
the car is a Honda civic 2008. Working very well with chilling AC and all, barely been less than 100k mileage

Converting the steering of a car from right to left is quite simple for most mechanics.
Just buy the dashboard, and watch how they'll finish the job. Its something they do often for some imported cars. Just that you've not seen one before.
And the car drives well? As in no issues afterward abi

Car Talk / Converting A Right Hand Drive To A Left Hand Drive Honda Car by reverendfather: 12:12pm On Sep 27, 2023
I've got a car deal worth half the market price, however the car is right handed, I have reached out to a few persons they said the conversion is quite easy with getting new dashboard and complete wiring and wipers.

However, I have never seen one done before. Please experts in the house converting an honda civic from right hand to left hand drive, is it a good call or bad one? Should I let it go?

What's going with Upwork? I hardly get invites these days. All through last month only once, this month is almost over and nothing. I used to get multiple per week, my JSS is still 100% top rated plus is still there

My dear, just leave that Peugeot and get a

Kia rio 08- 10
Honda civic 06 - 10
Mercedes w203 c180 or c200 kompressor 2003 - 2006
You can get these cars in clean state with 1.5 - 2m
Even if you like that Peugeot like that go for the 206 for a start first so that you go understand how to maintain a Peugeot.

Hmm thanks, yes I saw one at 1.6m.
The car is somewhat less roomy abit when I sat inside.

Do you have/know a good mechanic that specialize in Peugeot?
No I don't, but I've reached out to one I got through one of our office drivers, I am trying to get more insights first before inviting them over on Monday to come have a look.

Honestly, I just needed to hear from experts in the house, I'm yet to actually purchase this car, the seller claims this is the only issue with the car, I'm currently negotiating terms with him.
He seems very honest when communicate.
Car Talk / Peugeot 407 - Do Car Sellers Intentionally Hide Problems When Selling Cars? by reverendfather: 6:46pm On Sep 23, 2023
I saw a seller online, he's selling a car for an elderly woman well into her sixties, this man said the car is very clean engine and all, he sent me pics and videos and indeded it is still very neat. But he listed two issues currently plaguing the car,
One was that the car goes into limp mode under traffic light sometimes, and other times it doesn't.
Secondly he said the AC isn't cooling but just blowing.

By limp mode I mean, the car will fail to accelerate once it stops under maybe traffic light or when you decide to slow down to pick up someone or something. He said he normally restarts the car immediately and the problem is instantly resolved, until he decides to slow down to pick something or at the next traffic light.

He said the first problem can be fixed by getting a new set of coil while the second problem he doesn't know if it is fixable, because he's only reselling and has never bothered to check for the AC.

Guys the car looks very clean, but these issues (I'm a car novice), is it something related to the engine? Should I even bother telling him to drive it down to my office on Monday or just let it go?

The car in question is a peugeot 407, 2008 model. I was going to get a camry 08 before but I had to support my kid bro with financing his japa to Canada. I should have enough cash by early January of next year.
Is the Peugeot 407 2008 a good bargain with the above minor problems at 1.1m or would you recommend i go for the Honda civic 2006 at 1.6m?
Car Talk / Help Needed, Peugeot Won't Accelerate After Driving And Stopping by reverendfather: 8:42pm On Sep 11, 2023
Hello everyone, please I've been having this particular issue now for a while, my peugeot drives very well, however each time I decide to stop without turning off the engine, maybe to get something along the road side or in traffic light, my car starts to drive very slow and won't accelerate unless I turn it off and back on again.

What's the solution please

Investment / Help Bolt Fees Want To Finish Me, Getting A Car Loan Against My Salary by reverendfather: 7:50am On Mar 28, 2023
Today alone, I spent 7,200 naira on Bolt rides. As a full-time level 9 civil servant, I have a side job that requires me to go out and execute tasks when I'm less busy at the office. Additionally, I freelance on weekends and I am a top rated freelancer on Upwork, although job opportunities are not as frequent as they used to be.

I have a strong desire to save up and purchase a car, but I don't want to allocate all of my savings towards it. Instead, I'm considering taking out a loan over a longer period, such as 36 months, so that I won't feel the financial burden too much and can still have enough for emergencies and other investment opportunities. My monthly income is around 200,000 naira, and I plan to buy a Corolla or a Honda since they are known to be fuel-efficient.

I'm wondering if taking out a loan for this purpose is a foolish idea. I believe that my stable and secure job can comfortably cover the loan's monthly payments, but I'm curious if anyone else has ever gone through a similar experience and can share their insights.

I need your inputs please

Loan taking is not really a good experience that i would encourage anyone to take.

most loan institutions ask for Crazy returns seasonally... and if care is not taken, the loan borrower would spend a long time praying for a loan.

My advise, in your office, start a contribution system where the group could contribute to one person every month... when it is your own turn, you collect the bulk money and save it up... you would be surprise that you will end up getting at least 60% of the cash needed..and with more efforts, you can raise the money for the car... more grace to you

What of from my bank where my salary is domiciled, I believe the interest rate won't be too high.
