Akwa Ibom State is one of the most blessed states in Nigeria. The presence of crude oil deposits in commercial quantities has positioned the state at the forefront of Nigeria’s oil-producing regions. Thanks to both past and present governors, the state has utilized these resources to develop its infrastructure. Good roads and bridges have been constructed to connect urban towns and rural communities. The state capital, Uyo, along with Eket, Ikot Ekpene, Abak, and other smaller towns, have experienced tremendous infrastructural development.

The health and education sectors have also seen significant investments. The past and current administrations have allocated substantial funds to develop these sectors. Today, primary healthcare centers are found in all corners of the state, ensuring accessible healthcare for all. Free and compulsory education from primary to secondary levels has contributed to a reduction in illiteracy rates. Higher education institutions, including colleges, polytechnics, and universities, have benefited from government bursaries aimed at indigenous students, from the local government level up to the state government.

Recently, the current governor has initiated a program to pay allowances to indigenes who serve as youth corps members during their national service, regardless of where they are posted.

Despite these achievements, the state still suffers from a severe lack of job opportunities. Both past and present governments have been vocal about industrial development, but little has been done to actualize these plans. The only sector that provides employment in the state is the civil service, which accounts for less than 20% of the teeming workforce. Many young graduates wander the streets in search of jobs, as there are hardly any functioning industries that employ people—aside from Champion Brewery PLC in Uyo. The private school sector rarely pays teachers more than N50,000, with only a few renowned institutions offering better salaries.

Many youths, especially males, have resorted to gambling and sports betting as means of survival, while some ladies have turned to prostitution and casual relationships for income. The government has yet to make meaningful efforts to promote industrialization and create sustainable employment opportunities in the state.

This reality prompts me to pause, reflect, and ask myself: "Who will be the Messiah for Akwa Ibom State?"

A lady returned from Owerri to Uyo during the Christmas period to visit her elderly sister. I happened to come across her, and I must say, she is extremely beautiful and charming. I tried to keep things normal—both in our communication and interactions. She eventually opened up to me, revealing that she has a serious man in her life. I remained calm and continued acting as a normal friend.

At one point, I accidentally stumbled upon her phone and noticed that she is a classy lady. Since I’m not financially buoyant, I focused on maintaining a stable and respectful manner. I kept my mind on being a good friend.

One day, she started asking me some deep questions about myself. I told her I just graduated from university and am waiting for my call-up for NYSC. She said she’s actually working towards that too. She also asked if I was staying alone, and I confirmed that I was. Throughout December, she spent most of her time with me, chatting, gisting, and smiling. Sometimes, I took her out to lounges and bought her food from eateries.

Yesterday, she confessed that she enjoys hanging around me. Today, she insisted that most people know where I stay. Initially, I felt reluctant to bring her to my place—not because of anything suspicious, but because I didn’t want my libido to get the better of me. After some persistent urging from her, I decided to bring her over.

As a single guy who just finished school, my laptop is my television. When she entered, she said she was feeling hot and asked me to find her a polo or a light jersey to wear. I did so. She then went into the bathroom to take a shower while I was in the kitchen preparing her a meal. We enjoyed the meal together, and she complimented my cooking.

Later, she felt sleepy and fell asleep. When she woke up in the evening, she asked me to see her off. Honestly, this lady is very beautiful—so much so that my friends on the street were even hailing me.

Sometimes, as a Christian, I pause and ask some pertinent questions.
A lady might fast in the morning, but in the evening she goes and has sex with a man, then the following morning she resumes fasting.
A man might lie to someone in the evening, but the next morning he is fasting.
Someone might be quarreling with their neighbor and seem not to forgive, yet still be fasting.

My question is: does God really answer all these prayers?

Have been dating this particular babe for 5 months now. Ever since she comes into my life, everything in me is not stable again. I started experiencing unnecessary hatred. I'm a subject teacher in a secondary school. I got the job after defending my project last year, August 2024. The school was paying me 50k while others were collecting 65k.The reason was that I didn't collect my statement of result to show them. After collecting statement of result last month and showed them, they decided to pay as others teachers.Meanwhile,my mum is urging me to register for NYSC of which I didn't want to go now.

After defending my Bsc Geography and Natural Resources Management from the department of Geography, University of Uyo in August, 2024, I waited in Uyo hoping to see a part time job. Unfortunately, I didn't locate any good one. Things began to be tougher because my parents didn't send me money again.

I decided to move to Port Harcourt this year. On getting to Port Harcourt, I applied as a Geography Teacher in one of the prestigious schools. Fortunately, I got the job after series of interviews and started teaching.

Yesterday my account was credited and I went and withdraw half of the salary.

I didn't promise to marry her

I am currently in a dilemma,I don't know the step to take. I came across a lady last year October after defending my Bsc .We started flowing with each other to the extent we fall in love for each other. As times goes ,I realized that she was not privilege to further her education.My love for her began to decay. After my defends,my parents have not been sending me money again and life began to be tougher for me. She is working in fast food restaurants as a manager of the restaurant and her brother is in Malta and do sent her funds.She has contributed to my wellbeing both financially and materially. I have attempted to break up with her for 3 times but each time I planned I couldn't do it because I still have a soft touch for her. I constantly told her if a good man comes her way that she should consider because I currently don't have the financial capacity to proceed her marital rites all these are just excuses to make her have a second thought about me. I stop sleeping with her since last year December because I don't want to exploit her any longer. The truth of the matter is that this lady is older than me. I am currently 29 while she is 32. When I told my parents about what am going through, my mum blamed me of allowing the the lady to develop deep feelings for me and ask me to go ahead and marry her while my dad instructed not to do so if I don't love her but ask me to compensate the lady for time wasting by paying her off. The only money that I realized in my newly established business is 500k and
I wouldn't want to use it in paying her off because I might return to squares. I don't know the step to take because I don't want her to be devastated and sad. Please nairalanders , I need you guys help.

There is so much joy when someone just gain admission to study in the university...I was very good in Geography even before I enter secondary school.I got A1 in my O level Geography result and that gave me the impetus to seek for an admission to study geography in the University of Uyo. fortunately,I got admission in my first attempt,it was quite impressive.In my year 1(100L), I struggle and scale 3.52, I was not happy though I thank God. When I enter 200L, I came across courses like Cartography and Climatology, that's when I realised that geography is not only what I imagined.. Cartography lab. was my friend, I do slept there like a street Wanderer. Initially, I was a kind of bragging type but the stress that am going through have humble me,my dad once said that I have repent. My main aim is to graduate with second class upper,I just pray God to finish my 200L with at 3.6 and nothing will stop me not to graduate with second class upper.With God and guts, nothing is impossible... studying Geography in Uniuyo is like going to US Navy training...

Village girl is even the worst....is better to get someone that has exposed than to get person that have never seen anything yet...
