Incumbent governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola is on the verge of being formally declared as the winner of the governorship election in Osun that held on Saturday August 8 2014. Electoral results officially released by INEC show that that Mr. Aregbesola is leading his closest rival, Iyiola Omisore of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by at least more than 100,000 votes. Saharareporters had earlier disclosed that Mr. Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) party was comfortably ahead based our monitoring of results from polling stations across Osun state. INEC figures in 30 local government areas show that Aregbesola has scored the highest votes in the election against Omisore An INEC official speaking this night from Osogbo told Saharareporters that figures received from a variety of polling centers suggest that the incumbent governor will be officially announced as Saturday election in a matter of a few hours. The PDP had pulled all the stops in effort to defeat Mr. Aregbesola and to sustain the momentum gained by the party when it won the June governorship election in Ekiti state. Aside from submitting a resume full of typos, the quickest way to be eliminated from consideration for a new job is making an avoidable interview blunder — like putting your foot in your mouth. "Every year we see more surveys and polls come out listing some of the crazy things that candidates do or say in job interviews," says Michael Kerr, an international business speaker and author of "You Can't Be Serious! Putting Humor to Work." "So, it's very clear that some people still haven't received the memo: What you say in an interview matters immensely. It's your audition!" Hiring managers use the interview to gauge your fit for the job, your creativity, your ability to think on your feet, your emotional intelligence, and your attitude — so it's important to remember that it's not just what you say that counts, it's also how you say it. "Your tone of voice and body language will be watched closely as yet another indicator as to your overall fitness for the job at hand," says Kerr. Here are 13 things you should never say in a job interview: "I'm really nervous." Even if you're more nervous than you've ever been, no company wants to hire someone who lacks confidence. "So, in this case , honesty is not the best policy," says Amy Hoover, president of the job board TalentZoo . "Fake it 'til you make it!" "Let's talk money." Never dis cuss salary in the early stages of the interview process, Kerr says. "Focusing on the salary can raise a red flag with potential employers that you are only there for the money and not for any deeper reasons," he explains. "More and more, employers are looking for people who align with their mission and values." Negotiations can and should be done after (or at the very end of) the interview phase. "My weakness is I care too much/work too hard." Of course, you should "never voluntarily talk about your weaknesses unless they ask you with the standard interview question, 'What's your biggest weakness?'" says Kerr. And if you are asked this question, stay away from these answers. Everyone knows they are masked strengths, and they are largely a turn-off to any interviewer who has been around th e block, says Hoover. "You should spend time thinking about what your true weaknesses are and admit to them." "I really need this job!" Don't give any indication of desperation. "And definitely do not say that you really need this job due to your current circumstances," Kerr says. "Employers may view desperation as a sign of weakness, and, again, they want employees who are seeking a lon g-term career, not merely a job." "My current boss/employer is horrible." Ne ver, ever criticize a former boss or company. "Even if the interviewer invites you to, don't," Hoover says. It's not classy, and it'll make you sound bitter, negative, and petty. "It also shows that you could badmouth any boss or company in the future — and it could even be a test to see if you will say anything disparaging." "I need…" Don't make the conversation all about your needs. "This is the time to talk about their needs and what you can do to help fulfill them," Kerr says. "Talking about your needs will flag you as someone who is potentially going to be high maintenance and challenging to work with." "Do you know when we'll be finished here?" You should never give the impression that you're in a hurry or have somewhere else to be. "What could be a 30-minute interview might turn into a 90-minute interview if all goes well, and if you seem like you have somewhere more important to be, the interviewer will definitely be turned off," Hoover explains. "I love the perks you offer." "Don't bring up how much you love some of the company's perks, such as their policy of having every third Friday off or their free snacks," says Kerr. "Again, this will create the image you care more about the benefits than you do about contributing to the employer's success." "I'd rather not say." Unless the interviewer asks you an inappropriate or illegal question , or something that makes you feel extremely uncomfortable, you should always answer the ir queries. "A job interview is never the time to play the 'no comment' card," says Kerr. "It will make you look like you have something to hide or are unprepared." "How much paid time off do I get in the first year?" "You don't wa nt to give the impression that you intend to take all your sick days and miss as much work as possible while still getting paid," Hoover says. Leave that type of question until follow-up interviews or conversations with HR about benefits, she suggests. "S---, d---, f---, etc." "As obvious as this ma y be, don't use curse words or slang terms in an effort to come across as 'authentic,'" Kerr says. "You'll only give the impression that you have poor communication skills." Hoover agrees. "Never swear. Ever. Even if the interview is over drinks after work and everyone around you is swearing. If it's a very la id-back scenario like happy hour, find PG words to use, and use inflection and body language to make your points." "I'm getting divorced/pregnant/going through a tough time." Kerr advises against bringing up any personal issues or problems. "This can be viewed as a major red flag for a whole host of reasons, not the least of which being the question as to whether your personal challenges are going to affect your job performance." "I don't have any questions for you." When asked if you have any questions for them, don't say "no." "This makes you look unprepared for the interview, or worse, disinterested in the job or company," Kerr says. http://www.enn.com.ng/2014/08/13-things-you-should-never-say-in-job.html

Davido has finally opened up on the purported beef with Wizkid and why he went on twitter to throw shade. He spoke to Sahara TV and this is what he said "It's not beef at all,but I'm the type of person if I feel something to me everything you do, you don't hit your brother down. This is the first time I'm saying this but the only reason I was upset was because of the NY concert. I was even going to tweet like you know 'make sure everybody turn up for my brother Wizkid's concert' and he threw a shade like that. I'm not going to take that. That's why I went and said what I said. But it's all cool, at the end of the day, we got to keep it on the music. Shout out to him. I'm still a big fan. It was never nothing but don't throw a shade at me,especially when we were on the flight earlier. By the way, check the numbers on my last concert. There has been stories flying around in the social media about alleged domestic abuse in the house of popular Yoruba actor, Odunlade Adekola. But how true are these stories? The actor is known as a gentle man by many who are close to him, so what could be responsible for such allegations? His beautiful wife, Ruth Abosede Adekola, has set the record straight. According to her, they met at a church vigil in 1995 and the actor proposed to her shortly after that. Abosede said her husband is her rock and that he also sees her like a semi-god and loves her to a fault. But is it true that he beats her? If not, how does she feel when she hear such rumours? "I don’t feel bad because I know what he is capable of. Some women are not in any relationship let alone marriage, all they are after is how to ruin the ones that are going on smoothly, so, I don’t bother myself about side talks. And if there is anything I heard that is not pleasant to me, I walk up to him to know the truth, and he will never hesitate to tell me the truth, and we both settle it amicably. "I want to tell you that we’ve not quarrelled for once before and we will never do such by God’s grace. He is just too playful. "We might sit at home he will just say see how this one walks, he will say it in a comic way and we will all laugh. He is too funny. We all feel his absence when he is not around", the mother of three said. http://www.enn.com.ng/2014/08/is-popular-actor-odunlade-adekola.html

The Barcelona midfielder has revealed he is quitting Spain to concentrate on club football with the Catalans following a disappointing World Cup campaign this summer Barcelona midfielder Xavi has announced his decision to retire from international football at the age of 34. Xavi was instrumental as Spain won back-to-back European Championships in 2008 and 2012, as well as the World Cup in 2010, but is calling time on a glittering international career after 133 games and 13 goals for La Roja. The 34-year-old had been set to leave Barcelona earlier this summer, but has been persuaded to stay for one more season by coach Luis Enrique and will now concentrate on club football following Spain's disappointing World Cup campaign at Brazil 2014. Xavi was named as the best player in Euro 2008 as Spain won their first international trophy since 1964 and added the World Cup and another continental championship in 2010 and 2012, respectively. "I have decided to leave the national team - my time has come to an end," the midfielder announced in a press conference on Tuesday. "I'm grateful to everyone at the Federation. It has been a marvellous time over so many years and with so many successess." And he added: "I'm leaving with pride and I wish them all the best. Now I'll be watching them as a fan." The midfielder also confirmed he has changed his mind about Barcelona, claiming he thought his time with the Catalan club was over after the disappointment of Spain's first-round exit at the World Cup in June and missing out on the major silverware at the end of last season with the Blaugrana. "I want people to understand that I thought my time had come to an end," he said. "I was so disappointed and I decided to leave Barca, but that decision was premature. Luis Enrique and Zubi (sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta) convinced me that I can be useful. "I ended up disppointed last season. I didn't feel useful for Barcelona or for the national team. They were two of the biggest disappointments of my life." http://www.enn.com.ng/2014/08/midfield-maestro-xavi-retires-from.html

When asked if her 13 year old daughter has watched her nude videos,Maheeda told Vanguard ... "Yes!She’s proud of me because the way you train your children here is different from the way children are trained abroad. In abroad, you have people doing soap adverts and they’re completely naked. They just hide what I was hiding also and it’s normal." On allowing her follow in her footsteps Right now, she’s under my care. I won’t allow her but when she’s up to 18 and she might say “mommy, I saw what you did and I want to do the same.” I’ll say it’s your choice. People have to make their choices. I mean my mom wasn’t a nudist or whatever, she was a very nice woman but look at me today. I’m not saying I’m not nice but I’m trying to say she didn’t go showing off all her body everywhere. Nobody even knew her but look at me. I mean pastors’ children also end up in club so you can’t really say because of what mommy is doing, that means the daughter would do the same. I don’t believe that. http://www.enn.com.ng/2014/08/my-daughter-is-proud-of-my-nude-videos.html

Love is beautiful and wicked; different strokes for different folks. 26 year-old girl, Gift Sunday, left her abode in Ketu , Lagos, to meet her boyfriend, Raphael Effiong, who had invited her over on phone on Monday, July 28, 2014. Never, in her wildest imagination, did she envisage that would be her last day on earth. Time was 8.30pm, shortly after the Anietie family whom Gift stayed with, had dinner. While other members of the family retired early, Gift announced that she was going to meet her boyfriend, who was well known by the family. But apprehension reportedly set in when she did not return by midnight. Tension, heightened after efforts to reach her on the phone proved abortive as it was discovered to be switched off... Next day, the family’s fear was confirmed following the visit of a woman later discovered to be a management staff of Mayor Guest house located at 10 Yusuf Eleran street, Ketu. The woman was said to have invited Gift’s sister , Mrs Ume Anietie to Fine Day hospital at Elebiju street, where she was informed that Gift had passed on! Love gone sour Gift, as gathered, was stabbed in the arm and breast by her boyfriend, Raphael at the guest house. A man who claimed to have witnessed it all told Crime Guard that: “I was seeing a friend off, when I heard the shout of help from the hotel. I sensed all was not well and went to the hotel to inform the staff. They told me it was normal to hear lovers shout. But I insisted that the shout was not that of pleasure but of panic and pain. It was at that point that we all rushed to the room and forced the door open. To our disbelief, we saw a lady on the floor with a deep cut in her hand from where blood was gushing out. The man with her was holding a pair of scissors . At first, nobody knew what to do. We told the man to take her to the hospital but he could not carry her because she was big in size. We all carried her outside with blood still gushing out from the deep cut in her hand. It took about 30 to 40 minutes before she was rushed to Fine Day hospital. Even when she got there, the doctors did not attend to her on time. It was not until the Police at Alapere division called and instructed them to commence treatment on her that they started attending to her and we left”, the eye witness narrated. Her Last words Doctors at Fine Day hospital were said to have managed to revive Gift. In an inaudible tone, she was said to have told some of the hospital staff that it was not the first time Raphael would beat her. According to one of the hospital workers who spoke on condition of anonymity: “She told us that was not the first time her boyfriend would beat her. She said anytime he sees her with any man, he would beat her, even in the open. She also said that was why she decided not marry him, so that he would not kill her someday”. At a point, Gift could not reportedly speak, as she complained of weakness. Unfortunately, she could not owing to loss of blood. Had blood been transfused into Gift, she would have probably lived to share her ordeal, Crime Guard gathered. Why I killed her Raphael as gathered, attempted to escape, on noticing the magnitude of his action. But he was apprehended by staff of the hotel who handed him over to policemen at Alapere, from where he was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department,SCID, Yaba, Thursday. At the SCID, Raphael told operatives of the Homicide section that he stabbed Gift because she refused to marry him. According to the Akwa-Ibom State suspect: “I never knew she would die. I never meant to kill her. I only wanted to threaten her with the scissors. We have been going out for a year and I loved her so much... I proposed to her but she turned down my proposal, saying she couldn’t marry me. I have begged her several times to have a change of mind but she didn’t. "I have invested so much on her with the hope of marrying her some day. But I never knew she was only deceiving me, by playing on my intelligence. I just could not stand her getting married to another person. The mere thought of that sends me crazy”, he said, begging the deceased’s family members to forgive him. But members of the deceased’s family are of the opinion that the act was preconceived, asking why the suspect took a scissors to the guest house in the first place. The late Gift, as gathered, was a fashion designer. She was said to have been living with her sister since 2005, from where she went to secondary school and thereafter, learnt fashion designing. Until her death, she was said to have sewn wedding gowns for different would -be brides, including those of their bridal trains, with the hope of sewing for herself someday. She was said to have boasted to close friends that she would make the best for herself when the time came, unaware that she would not live to witness the day. She had reportedly told close friends that her choice of husband was a God-fearing man, little wonder she accepted to go out with Raphael in the first instance , as they met in the church. But along the line, Raphael reportedly left the church, shortly after which he started demonstrating his battering tendency. The deceased’s elder sister , Mrs Anietie, who is yet to come to terms with Gift’s demise, said amidst tears: “She was a very hard working lady. She was cheerful and was like a daughter to me. I will forever miss her”. Spokes person for the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide , said the suspect would be charged to court at the end of investigation.

Kolanut has been found to halt the deadly Ebola virus in its tracks in laboratory tests. Scientics used a compound from Garcinia kola, a plant commonly eaten in West Africa. Compounds from the plant have also proved effective against some strains of flu. If the anti-Ebola compound proves successful in animal and human trials, it will be the first medicine to successfully treat the virus that causes Ebola haemorrhagic fever, an often-fatal condition. The discovery was announced at the 16th International Botanical Congress in St Louis in the US. Four Deaths Per Five Cases The Ebola virus was first documented in 1976 after an outbreak in Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of the Congo where 88 per cent of the 318 human cases died. More recently, a 1995 outbreak in the same country had a death rate of 81% of the 315 infected. There are four types of the virus. Ebola-Zaire, Ebola-Sudan and Ebola-Ivory Coast all affect humans, while Ebola-Reston has so far only affected monkeys and chimpanzees. However, doctors have been unable to stop the virus once infection has taken hold hence the disease has gained a terrifying reputation. Traditional Origins Dr. Maurice Iwu, who set up and heads the Bioresources Development and Conservation Programme, led the research. It started 10 years ago when researchers were led to the plant by traditional native healers who have used the plant for the treatment of infectious diseases for centuries. “This is a very exciting discovery,” said Dr. Iwu, who himself comes originally from a family of traditional healers. “The same forest that yields the dreaded Ebola virus could be a source of the cure.” Fighting Chance The virus multiplies rapidly in the human body and quickly overwhelms it, and in advanced cases the patient develops high fever and severe bleeding. The Garcinia kola compound has been shown to halt multiplication of the virus in the laboratory. If repeated in humans, this would give the body a chance to fight off the virus. The active compound is what is known as a dimeric flavonoid, which is two flavonoid molecules fused together. Flavonoids are non-toxic and can be found in orange and lemon rinds as well as the colourings of other plants. Drug Hopes The tests are in the early stages still, but the researchers hope that if they continue to prove successful the compound the US Food and Drug Administration will put it on a fast track, making a drug available to humans within a matter of years. “The discovery of these important properties in a simple compound flavonoids was very surprising,” said Dr. Iwu. “The structure of this compound lends itself to modification, so it provides a template for future work. “Even if this particular drug does not succeed through the whole drug approval process, we can use it to construct a new drug for this deadly disease.” Note: This article was first published by the British Broadcasting Corporation on August 5, 1999 when Prof. Maurice Iwu was still Dr. Maurice Iwu. Prof. Iwu was a former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission. He has since returned to his first love of researching after his service at INEC. http://www.enn.com.ng/2014/08/kolanut-can-cure-ebola-prof-maurice.html

Again the political temperature of Nigeria has changed due to the protest across the world demanding the release of our Chibok Girls. Nigeria’s security challenge is a serious one having admitted that the terrorist sect have overwhelmed the security agencies by seeking international help. As at today, it is immaterial to argue whether our CHIBOK girls were missing, not missing, kept somewhere by the school or Bornu State Government but it speaks volumes of what happens to the HUGE budgetary allocations to the SECURITY AGENCIES at the expense of Agriculture, Education, Health etc. However, the disagreements and confusion surrounding our CHIBOK GIRLS readily point to the fact that the military intelligence apparatuses are scandalously compromised. The implication of people dying in hundreds daily is a demonstration of gross incapability to handle internal security and to checkmate these sponsored monsters (terrorism) that is killing us. The Global concern and resolve to assist us deal with this issues of BOKO HARAM which has posed a serious challenges to the people of Nigeria must be accepted with a caution. We must examine this so called international commitment to ensure that they are not out to make more mockery of our plight by throwing us into more problems in the distant future. They hardly solve any problem anywhere without creating bigger ones that will surface in future. To make matters worse these sons of the colonialists invited African ‘leaders’ to ‘school’ in France last week making us feel that they are intellectually disable with regards to crisis management. In perilous times like this, we must discontinue with these delusional conspiracy theories and restore the value of truth in our society which will serve as a better guide from the past to present. History will not only connect us to the missing link but will provide answers between the visible and the hidden. The energy dissipated in the blame game, finger pointing and condemnation of deadly terror attacks by the Federal Government should be shifted to unmasking of the masterminds and their sponsors. If we will all agree that corruption is severely impeding the effective fight against Islamic insurgents currently ravaging our dear country and must be rooted out to ensure meaningful progress in our national life. Imagine our Army Generals who claim to be fighting the insurgents being linked with Arms diversion, supplies to Boko Haram and also provide tips on troops’ movement . Nigeria has just been re-certified as the nation in the top position for worst leadership in social welfare, lest opportunities for the people and nation with the poorest people in the world today. Nigeria is 8th most corrupt nation; 4th with most corrupt police; and worst place to be born as of 2013. The gap between the rich and the poor is one of the highest the world over, occasioned by licensed treasury looters, state protected oil thieves and subsidy thieves led to the massive impoverisation of the majority of the citizens and non availability and inaccessibility of basic services and social infrastructures. CORRUPTION HAS KILLED MORE PEOPLE THAN TERRORIST ATTACK. It is our destiny that is at stake, let us collectively to stamp corruption and take Back Nigeria by liberating our country from the deadly disease called CORRUPTION. Nigeria must build strong institutions to deal with culture of impunity, Jail looters of our treasury and severely punish any group kills or abduct others in God’s name. Let's refresh our memory, for the purpose of the readers, who are Nigerian history blind because it’s not on the facebook or any other social media. From the crises of our earlier history, Nigeria leaders have demonstrated their tolerance for terrorist act. The Governments (present and past) have been sending wrong signal by hobnobbing militants and insurgents thereby creating impression that unless you carry arms against them you will never be recognized. Most conflicts in Nigeria are tackled with military activities which can only produce a short term result unlikely to produce lasting solutions. No proper reports on the remote cause so as to address it and prevent a re-occurrence and a follow up of progress monitoring reports which will methodically track the changes associated with emergence of the conflict. The purpose of this progress report is to give an up-to-date account of developments which is likely to cause breach of peace. The approach adopted in the resolution of Niger Delta crisis would have been more effective and sustainable if they had taken into consideration the dilemmas between ‘justice’ and ‘peace’. The categories of people that participated and benefited from the amnesty programme are only the militants leaving the victims (women and children) whose social and economic rights have been grossly violated with nothing. This summary reflects that those victims (children) previously excluded from benefiting from the amnesty programme will understand that it takes one to be recognised only when one carries arms against them thus making the peace accord to fail. The Western Region crises that sparked bloody rioting and brought effective government to an end in May 1962 is very vital to remember. The Maitatsine sect founded by Alhaji Muhammadu Marwa Maitatsine which shares similar ideology with Boko Haram (killing both Christians and fellow Muslims) held Kano hostage in 1980’s but Shagari with his military commander, Buhari quelled it. Even Habre’s Chad invasion was also tackled by same government. The inter-religious and inter-ethnic riots of Bauchi and Kano States,1991 and Taraba and Zangon Kataf of Kaduna State, 1992 and 2000 was a follow up of the1982,1984 and 1987 crises . Yelwa – Shendam in 2003 and Jos crisesof 2000, 2008 and 2010 are worth mentioning. The Bauchi uprising and countless communal riots of Benue, Taraba, Anambra, Delta and others are other examples of mishandled The1993 MOSOP agitation led the then Nigerian government to executed 9 leaders of the group in1995 consequently leading to the emergence of Niger Delta militants. The late Yaradua adequately managed the dangerous crises in the Niger Delta through disarmament and amnesty which is bound to fail. Another ethnocentric group MASSOB is on the prowl to fight against what they perceive to be marginalization of the Igbo People and allowed to operate unchecked Regrettably, Boko Haram sect which was declared dead on the launch of its insurrection which left scores of people dead in Maiduguri in 2009, with the death of their leader, Mohammed Yusuf, has plunged the country into unprecedented reign of terror. Even Mamman Nur who was arrested and released later masterminded the bombing of the UN House, 2011 The current national conference should struggle actively towards addressing all the pressing issues affecting ordinary citizens regardless of ethnicity which has fundamental consequence on the lives and destinies of our dear country such as poverty, deplorable education system, underdevelopment, wealth creation, job creation and internal security challenges which ranges from the religious irredentists / militants / insurgents. The conference might come to the wrong conclusions because of the failure of our delegates to consult with their constituencies in order to collect people's views. – food for thought. How many of us know our delegate to the National conference? How was he chosen? What mandate did we give to him? I strongly object the use of MILITARY OPERATION to resolve the Boko Haram issue as it will fail to achieve the desired result, rather will increased the intensity of the conflict and severity of tactics used. Most Nigerians who do not understand CONFLICT DYNAMICS have opposed President Goodluck’s decision to dialogue with the leadership of the sect as against the use of FORCE. The only known approach to peace building all over the world is dialogue depending on the ideological and practical standpoints adopted. The reason is that conflict erupts as a result of underlying longstanding grievances which can only be reshaped, redressed or reformulated through dialogue depending on the cause such as (Structural causes -pervasive factors or Proximate causes –contributing factors). 31yrs old Ben Byrne is the lucky man enjoying this identical twins, Anna and Lucy DeCinque, who have said to have spent well over $240,000 on surgeries to look even more alike. Here's what Ben, an electrical mechanic, told Woman's Day about his strange affair with the 28yrs old twin sisters: 'It's my first time with two girlfriends, and to be honest it's very difficult because it has to be 100 per cent even. Whatever I do for one I have to do for the other, so it's a fine balance. My mates reckon it's a cool problem to have.' On how the two séxy sisters are managing to "do things" with just one man in the bedroom, Lucy said: That is the question they get the most from people who want to know it they get down behind closed doors, saying "Put it this way, we're very active girls and he needs twice the energy." Area fada turned attention seeker, Charles Oputa aka Charly Boy has revealed his religion and why he left Christianity. In a recent interview with Vanguard, the Maverick entertainer said he was forced to go to church by his disciplinarian father. Charly Boy said he is now a Buddhist. In his own words; “First of all, I am not a church goer. I am a Buddhist, though I was born into the Catholic doctrine. And part of my reason for not going to church is the fact that I have been to a lot of churches. For the first 20 years of my life, I was a mass servant. I was an ‘altar boy’ because my father was a disciplinarian. If you don’t go to morning mass, you are bound to be in trouble. I did all that for 20 years, and that’s the kind of background I was coming from. But things have changed regarding the mode of worship in most churches. They spend more time than necessary. Why should we be praying for two to three hours non-stop? I have other things to do.” According to Wikipedia, Buddhism is a non-theistic religion that encompasses a variety of traditions, beliefs and practices largely based on teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama, who is commonly known as the Buddha, meaning “the awakened one”. According to Buddhist tradition, the Buddha lived and taught in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent sometime between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE. He is recognized by Buddhists as an awakened or enlightened teacher who shared his insights to help sentient beings end their suffering through the elimination of ignorance and craving by way of understanding and the seeing of dependent origination, with the ultimate goal of attainment of the sublime state of nirvana.
