The young sensation has dedicated her national
honour to her parents and teammates at clubs
and national team... “Well, I am really happy about it and I feel appreciated because it’s a good thing for one to be appreciated by her own nation” said the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of last month’s Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Other recipients of the national award are members of the victorious Golden Eaglets, who
claimed a record Fifa U-17 World Cup title in the
United Arab Emirate last year, as well as coaches and members of their backroom staff.

Sports / 'Qatar Will Not Host World Cup 2022' by Ridwan123(m): 3:37pm On Sep 22, 2014
The 2022 World Cup will not take place in Qatar due to the searing temperatures in the Arabian Peninsula, according to Fifa executive committee member Theo Zwanziger.

The former president of the German Football Association (DFB) is of the opinion that no guarantees can be provided against potential health problems for fans, despite Qatar’s plan to implement cooling technologies at stadiums, making hosting the event an unrealistic proposition.

“I personally think that in the end the 2022 World Cup will not take place in Qatar,” Zwanziger told Sport Bild on Monday.

“Medics say that they cannot accept responsibility with a World Cup taking place under these conditions.

"They [the Qatari organisers] may be able to cool the stadiums but a World Cup does not take place only there.

"Fans from around the world will be coming and travelling in this heat and the first life-threatening case will trigger an investigation by a state prosecutor.

"That is not something that Fifa Exco members want to answer for."

However, one organisation official has declared that Zwanziger does speak for the rest of the committee and refused to comment on the German’s view.

"He is expressing a personal opinion and he explicitly says so," Fifa spokesperson Delia Fischer told Reuters. "We will not comment on a personal opinion."

President of the governing body, Sepp Blatter, previously admitted awarding Qatar the event was a mistake and organisers are now looking at moving the tournament to winter months.

Cameroun has shown NFF and many Nigerians
how myopic-minded they are when it comes to
making football decisions. Cameroun are getting
the much needed results with 18-20 year old
players, and some Nigerians are talking about
going through the national team ranks. Absolute
embarrassment!!!! wake-up slumbers.

If iheanacho will be the answer to our creativity
problem in the super eagles midfield, then he
should be drafted in.

Sports / Keshi Can't Manage Eagles, Says Babayaro by Ridwan123(m): 12:02pm On Sep 16, 2014
Former national team goalkeeper, Emmanuel Babayaro has declared that no Nigerian coach is good enough to handle the Super Eagles.

Babayaro added that he was never convinced from the onset that Stephen Keshi was the right man for the Eagles job.

"I don't think Keshi is the man for the job. I never thought any Nigerian coach is the right person for the Eagles. And note this, it has nothing to do with their ability as coaches. As coaches they may be terrific, but I have always maintained, an average Nigerian myself inclusive, we are very sentimental people and football and sentiments they don't go together.

"That is why we have this situation where Keshi never invites the best hands, for one sentimental reason or the other. On a good day, somebody else without sentiments would have invited every other person."

Sounding in similar tone, CAF Technical Committee member, Paul Bassey also warned that a Super Eagles coach not wanting to experiment or take risks by opening new doors for fresh legs may put Nigeria in a bad situation, he said

The country's football has been thrown into chaos by recent developments both on and off the pitch. The ongoing crisis in the football federation and the poor performance by the Super Eagles in the two 2015 AFCON qualifiers against Congo and South Africa has not really given much hope many football followers.

Bassey posited that Nigeria does not have to wait till players like Man City prodigy; Kelechi Iheanacho fades out before they get to play.

"A coach that does not open doors for new players or take risks will end up putting Nigeria in a position where we found ourselves a couple of years ago. I don't think we need to wait till when players like Iheanacho fades out before you start injecting one or two, three players"

"It's a fundamental problem and it was evident in Brazil, it was evident before Brazil, it happened during Brazil and yet we believe we should move things forward without addressing it"

Sports / School May Affect Alampasu Genk Deal by Ridwan123(m): 3:43pm On Aug 29, 2014
Nigeria U20 goalkeeper Dele Alampasu has said his quest to return to school may mean a reduced offer by Belgian club Genk.

Alampasu has been on a second round of trials at Genk and sources close to the Lagos-born shot stopper have now informed AfricanFootball.com that Genk may well offer a reduced offer because of his insistence to combine football with his schooling.

“Alampasu may be given a reduced deal by Genk because he has insisted he wishes to combine school with football and the Belgian club maintain they want him to be a full-time professional,” a source told AfricanFootball.com

Alampasu’s first spell on trials with Genk was prematurely ended after a knee injury in training which required surgery.

The tall shot stopper was the best goalkeeper at last year’s U17 World Cup in UAE and was also on the squad to the 2014 CHAN in South Africa.

Golden Ball and Golden Boot winner Asisat Oshoala has expressed regrets at her failure to win the trophy for Nigeria following a 1-0 loss to Germany in the 2014 Fifa U20 Women's World Cup finals on Sunday.

The Falconets' midfielder, who was picked as the Best Player of the tournament and emerged the highest goal scorer with seven goals, said she is unhappy despite her remarkable personal achievement in Canada.

The Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt forward said her side was not destined to win the final after their
impressive display against the organised Germans.

"Everybody played their hearts out, our performance was great, I am very impressed. There was cohesion among us but we played [against] one of the best teams, missed our chances to score. It wasn't our day," Oshoala told Goal.

"I made a promise to do well and show myself to the world. I achieved that and I want to thank my mates for helping me fulfil my dreams, but missing out on the trophy is not what I wanted for my country," she concluded.

Education / Six Students Bag Scholarship As Univesity Of Ibadan Releases Post-utme Result by Ridwan123(m): 1:47pm On Aug 23, 2014
The University of Ibadan, on Friday announced scholarship for six candidates that scored 88 per cent and above in its Post-UME test.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Isaac Adewole, stated this at a news conference
held on Friday in Ibadan to announce the result of the examination which was conducted on Saturday.

He gave their names as Animashaun Oluwakayode Daniel, who emerged the best candidate having scored 90 per cent, and five other candidates – Ajari Esther, Oteri Efeturi, Ojo Oluwadamilare, Omitoyin Oluwafemi and Aremu Oluwadamilola, who scored 88 per cent.

The scholarship, he said, will cover their accommodation. These are bright ‎candidates so we do not expect them to fail.

“We want to assure these students that UI will offer them the best facilities that can be found in Nigeria”, he stated.

He said that of the 8,844 candidates who registered for the Post-UME test, 6,257 scored 50 and above while 236 did not turn up for the examination.

“If a candidate fails to score 50, he or she is not going to be considered for admission. So, 2,351 candidates failed the examination”, he added.
