Killed: Ayatollah Arfi, Iran’s interim Supreme leader Israel claims the killing of Ayatollah Arfi, Iran’s interim Supreme leader[color=#990000][/color] Social media furor over alleged strike on Iran’s interim leadership as Tehran navigates post-Khamenei transition and regional tensions by Arab Desk March 3, 2026 Ayatollah Alireza Arafi appointed to Iran’s interim leadership council Ayatollah Alireza Arafi, cleric and member of Iran’s interim Leadership Council formed after Khamenei’s death. [PHOTO Credit: newsd] TEHRAN — US and Israel claims the killing of Ayatollah Arfi, Iran’s interim Supreme leader, in what viral social posts and some outlets describe as a precision airstrike on Tehran. The rumor has spread quickly across platforms like Reddit and Telegram amidst escalating Middle East conflict narratives. According to these posts, the strike was launched shortly after Ayatollah Alireza Arafi assumed the role of interim Supreme Leader, a position he reached following the death of long-time Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during joint US-Israeli military operations, a leadership shift that has thrust Iran into one of the gravest succession crises in its modern history, with a temporary leadership council taking charge amid constitutional uncertainty. Reuters reports on Iran’s succession crisis. Contextualizing these developments is important. Arafi’s appointment came as part of a provisional leadership arrangement after Khamenei’s death in strikes earlier this month, when Iran named a temporary council of senior officials to oversee governance under Article 111 of its constitution, acting as the highest executive authority until a new Supreme Leader is selected by the Assembly of Experts. The creation of an interim council followed Iran’s constitutional guidelines for leadership transition.

Trump's secret weapon made enemy troops vomit blood during raid 'My head was exploding!' A security guard loyal to Nicolas Maduro has described what he claims was a sonic weapon that caused nosebleeds and vomiting during the US raid Venezuela Sonic Weapon In the Venezuelan capital, Caracas explosions rocked city the night Maduro was arrested (Image: X) An eyewitness account from one of Nicholas Maduro's security guards, who remained loyal to the now-deposed Venezuelan dictator, has revealed details of an extraordinary sonic weapon that reportedly "brought them to their knees." Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared the account on X, highlighting the American military capabilities deployed during the raid on the socialist leader's residence that resulted in his arrest. The security guard, whose name has not been revealed, described a "massacre" as his unit found themselves outmatched by superior firepower and drone technology before US forces allegedly deployed a "sonic" weapon causing vomiting and nosebleeds. The security guard stated: "Yes, but it was a massacre. We were hundreds, but we had no chance. They were shooting with such precision and speed... it seemed like each soldier was firing 300 rounds per minute. We couldn't do anything." When questioned about whether Venezuelan weapons proved effective against the assault, the guard responded: "No help at all. Because it wasn't just the weapons. At one point, they launched something-I don't know how to describe it... it was like a very intense sound wave. Suddenly, I felt like my head was exploding from the inside. We all started bleeding from the nose. Some were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move." Approximately 34 Cuban nationals were recorded amongst the fatalities in the military action, whilst Venezuela's interior minister, Diosdado Cabello, claims roughly 100 individuals perished during the operation. Cabello, who ascended to prominence under Hugo Chavez, has faced sanctions from the United States alongside relatives for "narcotics trafficking." Throughout the remainder of the discussion, the security officer described how outmatched his forces were against American troops, and issued a stark warning to Latin America regarding any confrontation with the Americans. "Those twenty men, without a single casualty, killed hundreds of us," the security officer went on. "We had no way to compete with their technology, with their weapons. I swear, I've never seen anything like it. We couldn't even stand up after that sonic weapon or whatever it was." When questioned about the broader region and its relationship with America, the guard responded: "Without a doubt. I'm sending a warning to anyone who thinks they can fight the United States. They have no idea what they're capable of. After what I saw, I never want to be on the other side of that again. They're not to be messed with." Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, are seen in handcuffs (Image: GC Images) The interviewer was identified as Mike Netter, who presents himself as the "main proponent for the drive to Recall Gavin Newsom, California," and hosts a podcast. The dramatic arrest of Venezuelan leader Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, in a military operation early Saturday morning sets the scene for a significant challenge for U.S. prosecutors as they aim to secure a conviction against the long-serving head of the oil-rich South American country in a New York courtroom. In New York, both Maduro and Flores, who are also facing charges of corruption and bribery, will be granted the same rights as any other individuals awaiting trial. This includes the right to a jury trial comprised of ordinary New Yorkers. Maduro has been indicted on four counts: conspiracy to commit narco-terrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices. The new indictment, which was unsealed last Saturday and includes additional charges against Flores, was filed under seal in the Southern District of New York just before Christmas. Flores is a formidable figure in her own right, having presided over Venezuela's National Assembly for several years. She played a crucial role in strengthening her husband's hold on power following his presidential election victory in 2013. Behind the scenes, Flores emerged as one of Maduro's key advisors, ensuring his political survival. https://www.express.co.uk/news/us/2156413/trump-s-secret-weapon-made-troops-vomit-blood-during-raid-my-head-exploding/amp |
NewsTrump’s airstrikes: Halt military cooperation with US immediately – Sheikh Gumi tells Tinubu govt Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has called on the Federal Government to immediately halt all military cooperation with the United States following reported US airstrikes. Gumi warned that American involvement could worsen Nigeria’s security challenges and undermine national sovereignty. Gumi made the call in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Friday. He said while Islam permits the fight against terrorism, such actions should only be carried out by what he described as “clean hands,” arguing that the United States lacks the moral authority to lead such efforts because of its global military record. According to the cleric, Nigeria made a mistake by allowing foreign powers to play a role in its counterterrorism operations, insisting that “terrorists do not truly fight terrorists” and that such interventions often result in civilian casualties and hidden political motives. Gumi warned that allowing Nigeria to become a theatre of war would attract anti-US forces into the country, further destabilising it. He also cautioned that US involvement, particularly under claims of protecting Christians, could polarise the country along religious lines. The cleric further argued that airstrikes alone cannot defeat terrorism, stressing that effective counterterrorism requires strong ground operations, which he said Nigeria has enough personnel to carry out if properly organised. “This is the mistake Nigeria has made. Terrorists don’t fight terrorists in truth; they may only kill innocent people and have ulterior motives behind the drama of fighting ‘terror’. “As a principle, no nation should allow its land to be a theater of war. And no nation should allow its neighbors to be their enemies. “If Nigeria wants military assistance, China, Turkey, and Pakistan can do the job effectively,” part of his statement read. https://dailypost.ng/2025/12/26/trumps-airstrikes-halt-military-cooperation-with-us-immediately-sheikh-gumi-tells-tinubu-govt/

Israeli Assassinates Houthi Prime Minister Yemen sources reveal Israeli airstrikes also killed Houthi Prime Minister. The strike on al-Rahawi appeared separate from an earlier Israeli attack on Thursday that reportedly targeted a high-level Houthi gathering in Sanaa. Yemeni media reported Friday that the prime minister of the Iran-backed Houthi movement was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the capital, Sanaa. According to Al-Jumhuriya, an anti-Houthi channel broadcasting from Aden, Ahmed al-Rahawi was struck while inside an apartment in the Bayt Baws neighborhood. The Aden Al-Ghad newspaper published a similar account, saying he died along with several close associates. Al-Rahawi had served in the largely administrative role of prime minister for about a year within the Houthis’ government, which is not recognized by the international community. The strike on al-Rahawi appeared separate from an earlier Israeli attack on Thursday that reportedly targeted a high-level Houthi gathering in Sanaa. Yemeni outlets described it as a type of cabinet meeting attended by both ministers and military leaders. Among those believed to have been killed were the Houthis’ defense minister, Mohamed al-Atifi, and chief of staff Muhammad Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari, who had already been wounded in a previous Israeli strike. Israel’s military confirmed it had struck what it called a Houthi “terrorist regime military target” in the Sanaa area. An Israeli security official told Yemeni media the aim was to hit senior leadership, adding, “We estimate that we succeeded.” https://worldisraelnews.com/yemen-sources-indicate-israeli-airstrikes-also-killed-houthi-prime-minister/

Iran Threatens to "Strike America and other Europe Countries" Next. Lawmaker from Iranian parliament’s National Security Committee boasts his country’s military already has missiles capable of striking every European country, adds that Iran has ship-launched missiles enabling attacks on Washington. Iran’s military already possesses ballistic missiles capable of reaching every country in Europe, a senior Iranian lawmaker boasted this week, adding that Iran’s navy is able to hit Washington DC. On Sunday, MP Amir Hayat-Moqaddam made veiled threats against the United States and European powers, boasting that Iran’s military is able to carry out missile strikes on every city in Europe, as well as major American cities on the East Coast. Hayat-Moqaddam, a member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said in an interview with Didban Iran that Iran has developed its ballistic missile technology and naval launching capabilities for the past 20 years, enabling it to strike not only Europe but also the US. “We can move our ships to within 2,000 kilometers of the US and from there target Washington, New York, and other cities,” Hayat-Moqaddam claimed. “Right now, all European countries are within our range.” The comments came days after Britain, France, and Germany told the United Nations last week they are poised to reimpose sanctions on Iran, beginning at the end of August. Iranian FM: 'We'll never stop enriching uranium, it's our pride' Iran launched over 550 ballistic missiles and over 1,000 suicide drones against Israel during the 12-day war in June, along with a small, symbolic missile attack on an empty US airbase in Qatar. During the interview Sunday, Hayat-Moqaddam mused that Iran’s next strikes could target the US directly, including Washington DC. “Perhaps our next missile will hit Washington directly. We can target America from the sea. The Aerospace Force of the IRGC has been working for 20 years on making it possible to strike America from Iranian ships. Even if we have not yet reached this technology, it remains within our grasp.” https://worldisraelnews.com/maybe-well-strike-washington-next-threatens-iranian-mp/ |
Iran’s president injured in Israeli strikes, state media claims Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian among the senior leaders injured in an Israeli airstrike on Iran’s national security council during last month’s 12-day war, state media claims. By World Israel News Staff Iran’s president and several other senior officials were injured in an Israeli airstrike during last month’s 12-day war, Iranian government-controlled media has reported. According to the Fars News Agency, the mouthpiece of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, President Masoud Pezeshkian suffered a leg injury when Israeli warplanes bombed Iran’s Supreme National Security Council last month. On the morning of June 16th, three days into Israel’s Operation Rising Lion, IDF fighter jets struck the lower floors of the Supreme National Security Council building, dropping six munitions while the council was in session. The building was damaged and power cut to the lower floors, the Fars report claimed. Along with Pezeshkian, Iran Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Judiciary chief Mohseni Ejei and other senior Iranian officials were said to be present at the council meeting during the attack. While the airstrikes appeared to be aimed at sealing off the building, preventing escape or rescue and disrupting airflow, the report claimed – comparing it to the 2024 IDF bombing in Beirut which killed Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah – the Iranian officials managed to evacuate the building via a special emergency hatch. Trump says Israeli strikes may improve chances of Iran nuclear deal Several officials, including Pezeshkian, reportedly suffered minor leg injuries during the evacuation. The Fars report also claimed that the timing and precision of the attack has fueled suspicions that Israel was aided by a highly placed spy. In an interview which debuted last week, Pezeshkian told podcaster Tucker Carlson that Israel had attempted to assassinate him. “They did try, yes,” Pezeshkian said. “They acted accordingly, but they failed.” Last week, a senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps general, Mohsen Rezaei, claimed that there were no injuries in the IDF attack on the Supreme National Security Council. |
IDF eliminates Hamas and Islamic Jihad... Senior figures behind weapons production and intelligence targeted in strikes. By David Brummer, World Israel News The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) have eliminated several senior Hamas and Islamic Jihad commanders over the past two weeks. These operatives were working to restore the terror groups’ military capabilities in Gaza. On Saturday night, the military confirmed that the strikes relied on precise intelligence from the IDF and the Shin Bet. The targeted individuals were involved in weapons production, military intelligence, and terrorism financing, according to Israel National News. Among the dead is Muhammad Abu Awwad, a senior terrorist in Hamas’ Weapons Production Headquarters. He was responsible for developing precision missiles and oversaw technical control within the department. Three other section commanders from the same unit were killed: Bilal Abu Shikha, Tayseer Shareem, and Mustafa Dababesh, the latter serving as the unit’s deputy head. Additionally, Mundhir Salami, who commanded a production site, was eliminated. Salami contributed significantly to Hamas’ weapons manufacturing efforts in Gaza. The IDF also struck Hamas’ Military Intelligence Unit, killing Bilal Musallam, a section commander, and Ahmad Abu Shamala, a squad commander. This unit gathers intelligence to help Hamas maintain operational control in Gaza and facilitate attacks against Israel. Israel says attacks on Iran are ‘nothing’ compared with what is coming Financial operations were also targeted. Rabi‘ Mustafa Rabi‘ Sukhweil, a Hamas financial operative, was killed. He was involved in transferring millions of dollars to fund the terrorist group’s military wing and its rebuilding efforts. From the Islamic Jihad side, the IDF eliminated Muhammad Al-Bayouk, a senior figure in the group’s Weapons Production Apparatus. The IDF emphasized that the Hamas Weapons Production Headquarters works to restore and expand the group’s arsenal. Meanwhile, Hamas’ Military Intelligence Unit supports ongoing terrorist activities against Israel by collecting intelligence through various means. The military stated: “The IDF is acting to prevent the terrorist organizations’ attempts to reestablish their military capabilities. As part of this effort, the IDF is pursuing the commanders responsible for carrying out concrete actions aimed at rebuilding these terrorist organizations and will continue to operate to eliminate them.” Since the war began, the IDF has focused on disrupting Hamas’ military capabilities, including targeting operatives involved in weapons manufacturing and strategic planning. This latest round of targeted killings is part of Israel’s broader strategy to prevent Hamas and Islamic Jihad from regrouping and rearming in the Gaza Strip. |
Non-Teaching Staff of FUTA Protest Against Police Over Impounded Union Vehicle Members of the Non-Teaching Staff of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Ondo State, staged a peaceful protest today, expressing their dissatisfaction with the Nigeria Police over the continued impoundment of their Union vehicle. The protesters, who carried various placards, called on the Inspector General of Police and other relevant security agencies to prevail upon the Ondo State Commissioner of Police to comply with a valid court injunction. The court had earlier ordered the Police to return and park the Union’s vehicle — a Toyota Sienna bus — at the front of the University Union’s Secretariat. Speaking to the press during the protest, the Union Chairman, Prince Aladerotohun Adebayo, appealed directly to the Inspector General of Police to ensure justice is served by urging the Ondo State Commissioner of Police to respect the rule of law. “We are not asking for anything outside the law. A court of competent jurisdiction has ruled on this matter. We are simply demanding that the court order be obeyed. The police should return our Union vehicle without further delay,” Prince Aderotohun Adebayo stated. The Union reiterated that adherence to the rule of law is essential for the sustenance of democracy and justice in the country.

Israel threatens to eliminate Houthi leaders Last week, Mohammed Sinwar who succeeded his deceased brother Yahya Sinwar as the head of Hamas, was targeted in an assassination attempt; his death has not yet been officially confirmed. Following a series of strikes on ports in Yemen and repeated Houthi missile attacks on Israel, Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened the elimination of Houthi leaders and, for the first time, dropped a hint about the death of Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar. Katz’s statement said, “As we have said before, if the Houthis continue to fire missiles at Israel, they will endure painful blows — and we will also target their leaders as we have done with Deif and the Sinwars in Gaza, Nasrallah in Beirut, and Haniyeh in Tehran. We will hunt down and eliminate Abd al-Malik al-Houthi in Yemen too,” he said. The IDF killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in October. Last week, his brother, Mohammed Sinwar who succeeded him as the head of Hamas, was targeted in an assassination attempt, and his death has not yet been officially confirmed. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “There will be more. We refuse to sit idly by while the Houthis attack us. We will strike them much harder, will target their leadership and all the infrastructure that allows them to harm us.” Netanyahu noted that Iran “provides them support, guidance, and approval.” “The Houthis will pay a hefty price, and we will defend ourselves by any means to safeguard the security of the State of Israel,” the prime minister said. The IDF’s Arabic spokesperson, Col. Avichay Adraee, wrote on X / Twitter following the attack, saying, “He who warns is excused.” Twice last week, after the IDF warned civilians in Yemen to evacuate following a Houthi missile attack, Israel nevertheless did not retaliate. Houthi missiles sent Israelis to shelters last Sunday, and the IDF ordered civilians to evacuate certain areas in Yemen, but no Israeli strike followed. Similarly, another missile attack last Wednesday morning was followed by a similar warning from Israel, but Israel’s military did not strike. The Prime Minister’s office and the military declined to comment on why there was no retaliation. Sources have offered several explanations, including the desire to save the expense of attacking the Houthis each time they launch missiles. Another possible reason is to avoid footage of battles during US President Donald Trump’s Middle East visit.

Joint Israel-US force strikes Yemen in retaliation for Houthi attack on Israeli airport. The Houthis have officially acknowledged the attacks, claiming both Israeli and American forces are involved. A senior Israeli official confirmed to N12 News on Monday night that Israel is conducting joint airstrikes with the United States against Houthi targets in Yemen, following Sunday’s ballistic missile attack near Ben Gurion Airport. According to Arabic media reports cited by N12, over 30 Israeli fighter jets are participating in the strikes on the port city of Hudaydah. The Houthis have officially acknowledged the attacks, claiming both Israeli and American forces are involved. The Houthi missile strike injured six people and temporarily grounded flights at Israel’s main international airport. According to an initial Israeli Air Force inquiry, the missile was likely not intercepted due to a technical malfunction in the interceptor itself. The investigation found no issues with the detection systems or alert protocols. Officials stressed that the incident was isolated, noting that Israel has maintained a 95% success rate in intercepting missiles launched from Yemen since the war began. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed retaliation, stating: “We have acted and will act again. There will be blows". |
Israel Gives Hamas Final Deadline to Return Hostages Operation Gideon’s Chariots – Israel poised to implement plan for conquest of Gaza if no hostage deal reached by May 16th , senior Israeli official warns. Israel is giving Hamas an eleven-day window to reach a deal with Israel for the return of the remaining 59 hostages held captive in the Gaza Strip – or else face the total takeover of Gaza by IDF forces, a senior Israeli defense official said Monday. Before dawn Monday, the Israeli Security Cabinet voted unanimously to approve a proposed expanded ground operation in the Gaza Strip dubbed “Operation Gideon’s Chariots.” According to the senior Israeli official, the new operation was drafted on the basis of the Rafah Model, used by IDF forces during the occupation of the Rafah district of southern Gaza following the area’s capture in the spring of 2024. Following the invasion of Gaza after October 7th, 2023, the IDF has largely maintained a light footprint on the ground in Gaza, temporarily seizing areas in the Strip to clear terrorist infrastructure, before withdrawing. While the IDF maintained control over buffer zones on the periphery of the Gaza Strip, outside of the Rafah area the IDF’s presence has been sporadic. If implemented, however, Gideon’s Chariots would see the establishment of permanent control over the Gaza Strip. “Unlike in the past, the IDF will remain in every area it captures, to prevent the return of terrorism, and will treat every cleared area according to the ‘Rafah model’, where all threats were flattened and the area was incorporated into the security buffer zone,” the senior official said. “A strong protective envelope will be provided to maneuvering forces from land, air, and sea, including the use of heavy tools to neutralize explosives and destroy threatening structures.” Gazan civilians will be evacuated from the northern and central Gaza Strip to southern Gaza, to facilitate large-scale IDF attacks on Hamas forces and to prevent Hamas from seizing humanitarian aid earmarked for Gaza families. “A central component of the plan is the large-scale evacuation of the entire Gazan population from combat zones, including northern Gaza, to southern areas. This is aimed at separating civilians from Hamas militants to enable the IDF operational freedom of action.” The official added that initially, the ban on aid transfers to Gaza will continue during the new operation, though aid will at a later date be handed over to Gaza families at secured depots in southern Gaza. The plan will be set into motion if no hostage deal is reached by the end of President Donald Trump’s visit to the Middle East next week, the defense official said. “The force buildup before the start of the ground maneuver is designed to provide a window of opportunity until the end of the U.S. President’s visit to the region, during which a hostage deal based on the ‘Witkoff model’ could be finalized.” “If a hostage deal is not reached, Operation Gideon’s Chariots will begin with full force and will not stop until all of its objectives are achieved.” “The voluntary emigration plan for Gaza residents, especially for those concentrated in the south and outside of Hamas control, will also be part of the operation’s goals.” President Trump is set to arrive in Saudi Arabia on May 13th, and will remain in the region until May 16th. |
Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas condemned the “looting and theft carried out by criminal gangs targeting warehouses and storage facilities of humanitarian aid." “Gangs” affiliated with the Hamas terrorist group have been looting humanitarian aid meant for civilians in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas said over the weekend. Abbas condemned the “looting and theft carried out by criminal gangs targeting warehouses and storage facilities of humanitarian aid,” speaking in an official statement published by the P.A.’s Wafa news site on Friday. According to the P.A., which controls most of the Palestinians in Judea and Samaria but was violently ousted from Gaza by Hamas in a June 2007 coup, “Hamas-affiliated gangs” have been “primarily responsible” for the theft. Abbas said Palestinians would “not forgive these disgraceful acts committed in such a critical time,” referring to the Israel Defense Forces’ ongoing war against Hamas terrorists in the coastal enclave. He warned that the gangs were “well known to the Palestinian public” and would “top the blacklist to be held accountable and brought to justice in accordance with the law at the appropriate time.” Hamas has looted at least 60% of the aid that Israel allowed to enter Gaza, the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) revealed last year. On March 2, Jerusalem halted the aid supply following Hamas’s rejection of another U.S.-backed truce-for-hostages proposal. Egypt- and China-brokered reconciliation talks between Abbas’s ruling Fatah faction and Hamas have apparently broken down since the latter terrorist organization announced the signing of an agreement in July. P.A. sources previously told Sky News Arabia that Hamas had approved a three-phase plan leading to “complete reconciliation” and the Gaza-based terrorist group joining the PLO terrorist organization, which controls the P.A., under a “unified Palestinian-Arab vision.” Hamas reportedly gave its blessing to Abbas’s proposal to establish a government whose purpose would be the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip after the war prompted by its Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist massacre. However, on April 23, Abbas called on Hamas to “end its control over Gaza, hand over all its affairs to the Palestine Liberation Organization and the legitimate Palestinian National Authority, refrain from carrying arms, transform into a political party that operates according to the laws of the Palestinian state and adheres to international legitimacy. “The first priority is to stop the war of extermination in the Gaza Strip,” declared the octogenarian P.A. chairman. Abbas added, “This must be stopped—hundreds are being killed every day. Why don’t you hand over the American hostages? Sons of dogs, release those you are holding and put an end to this story. Shut down their [Israel’s] excuses. End this!” It was not clear whether Abbas, who has yet to publicly condemn Oct. 7, called for the release of all 59 remaining captives, or only Americans. Members of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a “military” arm of Abbas’s Fatah movement, participated in the Oct. 7 attacks, and the P.A. has financially rewarded Oct. 7 terrorists through its “pay-for-slay” fund.

Abbas calls Hamas leaders ‘sons of dogs,’ demands releasing all hostages Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas castigates the Hamas terror organization and demands it free Israeli hostages, even as his envoy offers to protect Hamas if it accepts Ramallah’s authority. The Palestinian Authority (PA) president excoriated the leadership of the Hamas terror organization on Wednesday and demanded that the Islamist Gaza group release the remaining 59 Israeli hostages. Addressing a meeting of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Central Council in Ramallah, PA President Mahmoud Abbas called Israel’s war against Hamas a “war of extermination,” but also condemned Hamas, calling its leadership “sons of dogs,” and demanding Hamas release all of the remaining captives. “We must stop Israel’s war of extermination in the Gaza Strip! Why are you only trying to release an American hostage? You sons of dogs, release everyone and rid us of this situation, and block all of Israel’s excuses for this war.” Abbas, who heads the ruling Fatah faction of the PLO, laid out the PA’s goals vis-à-vis the Gaza Strip and the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel. “Returning the hostages, lifting the Israeli blockade of Gaza, stopping the displacement of our people in coordination with Arab countries, and defending the ‘Palestinian cause.'” The 89-year-old PA chief also reiterated his demands that Hamas disarm and surrender control over Gaza to the PA. “Hamas must end its control of the Gaza Strip and hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority.” Last month, Abbas dispatched an envoy, PLO Executive Committee Secretary Hussein Al-Sheikh to meet with Hamas leaders, urging the Islamist terror group to join the PLO. According to comments on the official PA TV channed by Muhammad Al-Masri, Director of the Palestinian Center for Strategic Studies, Al-Sheikh said Abbas had offered to protect Hamas should it unite with the PLO. https://worldisraelnews.com/abbas-calls-hamas-leaders-sons-of-dogs-demands-releasing-all-hostages-and-handing-over-weapons/ |
Iran responds to Trump's call for direct talks Iran responds to Trump's call for direct talks Iranian president responds to letter penned by Trump calling for direct talks to reach a new deal on Iran’s nuclear program, saying US must build trust for negotiations to take place. https://worldisraelnews.com/iran-rejects-trumps-call-for-nuclear-talks/ By World Israel News Staff Iran formally rejected an overture by US. President Donald Trump on Sunday to engage in direct talks aimed at reaching an accord on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program. Addressing his cabinet, President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that Tehran dispatched a response to a letter penned by Trump and delivered to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei via Oman earlier this month. Pezeshkian informed cabinet ministers that he had rejected Trump’s proposal for direct talks, while suggesting that brokered negotiations could potentially be a viable option. Iran’s response to Trump, Pezeshkian said, “rejects the issue of direct negotiations between the two sides; [but] it states that the path to indirect negotiations is open.” However, Pezeshkian added, the US would first have to take unspecified steps to restore Iran’s trust before talks of any kind could begin. “They must prove that they can build trust,” he said. “However, as the Islamic Republic had never blocked the paths of indirect negotiations before, this letter [Iran’s reply] has also mentioned that the road to indirect negotiation is left open and has emphasized that Iran has never avoided negotiations.,” he continued. “This will be the manner of Americans that would determine the continuity of the course of negotiations.” Trump’s missive, penned in early March, was delivered to Tehran, via Oman, on March 12. While the contents of the letter have not been publicized, Trump said that he had offered to conduct direct talks while warning of possible military strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities if Iran proceeds with its uranium enrichment program. “I’ve written them a letter saying, ‘I hope you’re going to negotiate because if we have to go in militarily, it’s going to be a terrible thing,’” Trump said. Since then, the US has reportedly deployed B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to forward operating bases close enough for strikes on Iran, including at the Camp Thunder Cove base on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. |

[Hamas out!’ Fury erupts at funeral of executed Gaza protester[/b] According to Palestinian human rights activist Ihab Hassan, Hamas terrorists kidnapped, tortured and executed 22-year-old Odai Nasser Saadi Al-Rubai for participating in the demonstrations. After enduring more than 17 months of devastating warfare, Gazans are turning their anger toward Hamas in a remarkable display of public defiance. “The people do not want war. The people do not want Hamas,” protesters have been seen chanting in viral videos in Beit Lahia and “Hamas terrorists” in Deir al-Balah over the past week. Uncharacteristically, Hamas initially let the protests against its iron-fisted rule go unchallenged, with Arab media reporting this was due to fear of being openly targeted by the IDF. They even attempted to claim the anger of their people was really directed towards Israel, with Hamas spokesman Basem Naim telling Al-Araby television on Sunday that “demonstrations are expected from people facing extermination, against war and destruction.” But it didn’t last long. According to Palestinian human rights activist Ihab Hassan, Hamas terrorists kidnapped, tortured and executed 22-year-old Odai Nasser Saadi Al-Rubai for participating in the demonstrations. Hassan, who holds a Master’s degree in Human Rights and identifies as a Palestinian Christian, shared Saturday’s video of Al- Rubai’s funeral on X, where mourners are seen opening fire and chanting “Hamas out, out!” According to the UN, more than 20 million Gazans have lost their homes, while a World Bank report estimates infrastructure damage at $18.5 billion as of January 2024. All because Hamas uses its citizens as human shields, and strips its own citizens every day of ample humanitarian aid facilitated by Israel at gunpoint. https://worldisraelnews.com/hamas-out-fury-erupts-at-funeral-of-executed-gaza-protester/

Trump admin announces the Boeing F-47, the ‘most lethal aircraft ever built' The new plane comes as part of a “family of systems” intended to “counter adversaries such as China and Russia,” according to Reuters. The Pentagon has awarded Boeing a billion-dollar contract to build the Air Force’s most advanced fighter jet, President Donald Trump announced Friday. The Next Generation Air Dominance program will replace Lockheed Martin’s F-22 Raptor with Boeing’s F-47, a sixth-generation jet designed to operate alongside drones in combat. While details of the new jet remain classified, the aircraft is expected to feature stealth capabilities, advanced sensors, and new engines, Reuters reported. “The F-47 will be the most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever built,” Trump said at the White House. “An experimental version of the plane has secretly been flying for almost five years, and we’re confident that it massively overpowers capabilities of any other nation.” The new plane comes as part of a “family of systems” intended to “counter adversaries such as China and Russia,” according to Reuters. The contract is valued at more than $20 billion, with Boeing expected to receive hundreds of billions of dollars in orders. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, standing alongside Trump during the announcement, said the new jet “sends a very direct, clear message to our allies, that we’re not going anywhere, and to our enemies, that we will be able to project power around the globe unimpeded for generations to come.” “We’re going to write the next generation of modern aerial warfare with this,” said Air Force chief of staff Gen. David Allvin.

Courts Have Stopped Illegal Suspension of Legislators in Nigeria By Femi Falana In 2010, our law firm handled the case of Hon Dino Melaye and 10 other legislators who were suspended for accusing the Dimeji Bankole-led House of Representative of wallowing in corruption The Federal High Court declared the suspension of the legislators illegal and unconstitutional and ordered the payment of their withheld salaries and allowances. In 2012, our law firm also handled the case of Honourable Rifkatu Danna, the only female member of the 31-member Bauchi State House of Assembly. Danna was suspended in June 2012 for allegedly making uncomplimentary remarks when she challenged the lawmakers’ decision to approve the relocation of the headquarters of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State. But the Bauchi State High Court declared her suspension illegal and ordered the Bauchi State House of Assembly to reinstate her and pay her withheld salaries and allowances. In 2017, the Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal filed against the judgment of the Bauchi State High Court in respect of the illegal suspension of Honourable Rifkatu Danna. The Court upheld our submission to the effect that the suspension of the legislator constituted a breach of the right of the Bogoro Constutuency to be representated by her in the state house of assembly. The Court equally held that the decision of the House to withhold the salaries and allowances of the legislator was illegal as she was not an employee but an elected member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly. In 2018, our law firm equally handled the case of Honourable Abdulmumin Jibrin, a member of the House of Representatives who was suspended for 180 days for accusing the Yakubu Dogara-led House of padding the 2016 national budget. The Federal High Court nullified the suspension and ordered the payment of the withheld salaries and allowances of the legislator. Based on the case of the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly v Honourable Honourable Rifkatu Danna (2017) 49 WRN 82 which is the locus classicus on the subject matter, the 2017 suspension of Senator Ali Ndume by the Bukola Saraki-led Senate was annulled by the Federal High Court. The case filed on behalf of the Senator his lawyer, Marcel Oru Esq. In the same vein, the 2020 suspension of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege was declared illegal and unconstitutional by the Federal High Court. The case was filed on behalf of the Senator by Edward Omaga Esq. Sometime in 2020, the Jigawa State House of Assembly suspended a lawmaker, Hon. Sani Iyaku, over alleged criticism of the state governor, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar Badaru who was on a visit to Hadejia town for a wedding ceremony. Honourable Iyaku challenged his suspension in the Jigawa State High Court. The trial Judge, Justice Ahmed ruled that the action of the Assembly did not comply with order 15 rule 74 (2)(c) and (3) a, b of the state House of Assembly standing orders 2017 and therefore declared the suspension illegal, inappropriate, null and void. The court also directed that the defendant be paid his three months allowances withheld to the tune of N3 million. On November 18, 2020, the Court of Appeal, sitting in Akure, Ondo State dismissed the motion for stay of execution filed by the state House of Assembly against the judgment of the High court reinstating the three suspended members of the state assembly. The Presiding Judge, Justice Folayemi Omoleye, queried the appellants for bringing a frivolous appeal before the court, directing that the lawmakers should be reinstated immediately to resume their legislative duties. On August 13, 2024, the same court reinstated Hon. Iroju Ogundeji as the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly. In a unanimous ruling, Justices Oyebisi Folayemi Omoleye, Frederick Oziakpono-Oho, and Yusuf Alhaji Bashir affirmed the decision made by Justice Akintan Osadebey, which reinstated the two-term legislator representing the Odigbo state constituency. In the past five years, the High Court sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, and the National Industrial Court nullified the illegal suspension of members of the Houses of Assembly of Kogi and Edo State respectively. In March 2024, the Godswill Akpabio-led Senate suspended Senator Abdul Ningi (PDP; Bauchi) for three months for alleging that Nigeria’s 2024 budget was padded. The Senator instructed our law firm to challenge the suspension in the Federal High Court. We wrote to the leadership of the Senate to review the suspension in view of the illegality of the action. As we were preparing to challenge the suspension in the Federal High Court, the Senate recalled Senator Ningi and paid his withheld salaries and allowances. In view of the definitive pronouncements of the several High Court and the Court of Appeal on the illegality of the suspension of elected members of legislative houses in Nigeria, the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is the height of legislative recklessness. The illegal suspension should be lifted without any further delay. Since the Federal High Court had restrained the Senate Ethics Committee from hearing the complaint against the embattled Senator pending the determination of the motion on notice the Senate ought to have stayed action in accordance with the rule of law. Finally, the official impunity of suspending legislators at the whims and caprices of leaders of the federal and state legislative houses must not be allowed to continue in Nigeria. *Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer, is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria* https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2025/03/10/courts-have-stopped-illegal-suspension-of-legislators-in-nigeria/ |

Screenshot)Hezbollah requests unconditional ceasefire Qassem’s statement implies that Hezbollah may be surrendering the demand for a ceasefire in Gaza as a precondition for a truce between Hezbollah and Israel. Naim Qassem, the most senior Hezbollah leader after the assassination of Nasrallah and his successor Safieddine, has called for an unconditional ceasefire, apparently not contingent on a cessation of fighting in Gaza. The former deputy to Hassan Nasrallah and member of Hezbollah’s Jihad Council announced on Tuesday night that the terror group was “agreeing to a ceasefire without preconditions. First, a ceasefire achieved through diplomatic means, and then we will discuss all the details." Experts believe that the announcement was issued at the behest of Iran and was prompted by the terror proxy’s military weakness after repeated Israeli strikes and assassinations of its leaders. Given that Qassem is the highest-ranking Hezbollah official remaining alive, the request for a ceasefire is apparently an official statement from the terror group. The request would entail both sides stopping the fighting before an agreement is mediated, most likely through the United Nations. Qassem added, “If the enemy [Israel] continues its war, then the battlefield will decide.” He added that he relied on Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri to restore calm. “We support the political activity being led by Berri under the title of a ceasefire,” Qassem said. led by Berri under the title of a ceasefire,” Qassem said. ISRAEL DESTROYS UNDERGROUND IRANIAN MISSILE FACTORY, IRAN FUMING The statement signals a change in position for Hezbollah since the terror group had indicated, since it began firing missiles into Israel on October 8th, that it would not stop hostilities until Israel submitted to a ceasefire agreement with Hamas in Gaza. Qassem’s statement implies that Hezbollah may be surrendering the demand for a ceasefire in Gaza as a precondition for a truce between Hezbollah and Israel. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller explained that Israel has not yet accepted the ceasefire and that there is reason to distrust the request for a ceasefire from Hezbollah, particularly if the terror group refuses to retreat from Israel’s northern border back to the Litani River, as it was supposed to do after the Second Lebanon War according to the terms of Resolution 1701. “Obviously, we don’t trust Hezbollah,” Miller said. “But you look at what Hezbollah said in 2006 when the UN Security Council adopted 1701… that they would implement 1701 – and they blew through all of their commitments.” “So there is an obvious lack of faith in Hezbollah’s ability to do what it said in 2006 and do what it’s saying it would do now, which is agree to an actual ceasefire that would allow Israeli civilians to return home and allow Lebanese civilians to return home,” the State Department spokesperson said. However, Miller said it was hopeful that Hezbollah had not spoken of a ceasefire in the 12 months of fighting and it was mentioning it now that the terror group is “getting battered, suddenly they’ve changed their tune and want a ceasefire. I think it’s not surprising given the situation they find themselves in,” he said. https://worldisraelnews.com/hezbollah-requests-unconditional-ceasefire/ |
How a handshake led to Hezbollah chief’s assassination The IDF has managed to infiltrate Hezbollah by all intelligence means, which has led to the almost complete decapitation of the terrorist group. By Batya Jerenberg, World Israel News Israel succeeded in assassinating Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah Friday because someone shook his hand in greeting, Saudi Arabian station Al Hadath reported Sunday. Quoting anonymous sources, the station said, “A person met with Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, shook his hand, and then smeared his hand with a substance that allowed Israel to track him.” The only identifier posited for that person was that he was from Iran. Whether true or not, it points to the undeniable fact that Israel’s intelligence that led to this strategic blow to the country’s most immediate and formidable military foe has recently revealed itself to be extraordinary. According to a Sunday report in the Financial Times (FT), over the last 18 years, Israel has managed to thoroughly infiltrate Hezbollah by any and all means, both human and electronic. Citing former Israeli intelligence officials and Lebanese politicians, the paper said that the breakthrough came in 2012, when Hezbollah leaped to aid Syrian leader Bashar al Assad put down an internal rebellion. They started publicly revealing information on their men that used to be top secret, said Yezid Sayigh, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Middle East Center, becoming “complacen[t]” and “flabby.” Israel took the free information and then expanded their files on the senior members by old-fashioned methods such as having them followed, and newer means, like hacking their phones and breaking into Lebanese surveillance cameras. Israeli officials told FT that the IDF figured out that whenever the terrorists’ practices strayed from their ordinary routines, that meant they were expecting to attack Israel. This is what occurred on Friday, when military intelligence learned that Nasrallah was on his way to his fortified bunker, buried 60 feet under a civilian apartment building in Beirut that he used as his human shield – and the order was given to blast it with 80 tons of bombs. Nasrallah’s assassination perhaps put an exclamation point on the fact that due to its intelligence successes, over the last several weeks, Israel has almost completely decapitated the terrorist organization, seriously damaging its entire command structure. Twenty other senior terrorists were killed along with the Hezbollah chief in his bunker, while dozens of the highest-ranking commanders of Hezbollah’s most important units and sectors along Israel’s border have been eliminated by precision IAF airstrikes. This is besides some 3,000 mid-level Hezbollah fighters being injured and over two dozen killed by their exploding pagers and walkie talkies in an attack for which Israel has not claimed formal responsibility. Through years of painstaking aerial surveillance and work on the ground, the IDF has also built up a huge pool of worthy Hezbollah targets to hit. This has been on display throughout the last 11 months of war, as the air force and artillery have responded to the nearly 10,000 aerial attacks Hezbollah has launched since the Israel-Hamas war began, by striking terrorist military targets across Lebanon that have resulted in about 500 more terrorist deaths. https://worldisraelnews.com/how-a-handshake-led-to-hezbollah-chiefs-assassination/ |
