Abducted Anglican priest, Canon Olowolagba, who was kidnapped alongside his wife, and two children has regained freedom.

The family was kidnapped on Sunday, December 22, along Ise Akoko-Iboropa road in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Earlier, the Bishop of Akoko Anglican Diocese, Babajide Bada, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, said the abductors demanded N75m ransom.

Bada said, “The unfortunate incident happened on Sunday between 4 pm and 5:30 pm. The man involved is Reverend Olowolagba. He was travelling from Ipesi with his wife, Mrs Olowolagba, and their 16-year-old daughter, Goodness Olowolagba, a 100-level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba- Akoko, who came for a holiday, and a nine-year-old girl staying with them, identified as Idowu.

“They drove from Ipesi through Isua Akoko; they were kidnapped between Isua and Ise-Akoko. We did not know about the incident until the following morning when their members discovered that they didn’t get to Ikaram, where they were going, as they were not also at home.

“Since then, those who kidnapped them have been calling. They earlier called to ask for N10m, but when we gathered some money to give to them, they changed the amount to N75m. That is why the victims are still in captivity.”

However, the family was released by their captors late Saturday.

Though details of their release were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, the commander of state Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed that the family had regained their freedom.

“The pastor and family have been released,” Adeleye said.

Igbos were existing before creation of Africa, Nigeria and states . Igbo is one with multiple sub sets like Anioma, Mbaise, Izzy , Ezza , owerri, Nkanu, Ngwa, Arochukwu, Agba enu , Idemmili, owerri, Ogbaru , Onitsha , Ikwere etc having different languages and cultures. Igbo have never asked anybody to identify as Igbo but if you feel within your heart you like Igbo culture and everything that concerns Igbo you identify as Igbo but if you choose not to, nobody will send you. There are communities that wake up in almost in every Igbo state and say they are not Igbos even though they speak Igbo but nobody send them

I see IPOB identifying with Isreal in the hope it will gain it favour and by extension, its support. However Isreal does not operate that way. Isreal has no foreign policy of arming groups. Besides Isreal has no problems with Nigeria and gains nothing from arming a group against the state of Nigeria. Israel is looking for legitimacy.

Iran on the other hand has armed capable groups in Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine. These are just the ones popularly known.
And make no mistakes, Iran is a very powerful country. Isreal may currently be winning against it but that is because of America and EU. Iran is one of those countries that stand on their own. It is also a cradle of civilisation and one of the richest countries in the world. It makes many of its own weapons and is the leader of the global Shi'ite movement and a potential superpower.
Also Iran has a beef with Nigeria and has incentive to interfere. Nigeria has persecuted Shiites before. Also Iran may want to secure a foothold in Africa.
If IPOB becomes a Shiite movement, it may successfully secure the support of Iran and change its reputation and strength, even if majority of Biafrans remain Christians. With Iran's support, the Alawiit of Syria which comprised only just about 20% of Syria ruled that country for over 50 years. Waiting for American or Jewish support for Biafra is of no consequence, they won't go against British interests. And neither will Russia help, they dont arm non-governmental groups as much as Iran. These countries have zero incentive to go against Nigeria

Great points you made but however I am against killing innocent Yoruba and Hausa masses and soldiers for Biafra to be actualized because that would be the first victims of the onslaughts if those guys lay their hands on Iranian superior weapons, missiles, fighter jets, rocket propellers etc. I prefer exploring diplomatic channels even if it takes 20 years . That is how many countries have been able to achieve theirs. I remember Nigerians laughing at Camerounians and reading for armed onslaught against Cameroun over bakassi but they went to court. It took them 20 years but at the end of the day they got Oil rich bakassi ahead of Nigeria. From Ojukwu to Uwazuruike to Nnamdi Kanu to Simon Ekpa, there is no evidence that they have brought the case of Biafra to United Nations because they are mostly concerned with exception of Ojukwu of raising millions of dollars and pocketing under the guise of actualizing Biafra while in their hearts they are not interested in Biafra. There was a lady that started Biafran agitation online after Kanu arrest, the money she raised within a few months dumbfounded her so much that she chickened out of it. Reno supported Nnamdi Kanu for only a few months before his arrest but the money he made in that short period of time enabled him travel almost all over the world, same about billions Ekpa have made etc so the current agitations you see today is a conduit pipe to siphon money for Biafran cause but not to actually actualize Biafra. We need to follow it through the right channel if Biafra is what every or most Igbos want

Nigeria’s progress stopped in 1966 when Britain supported Gowon to remove Igbos from governance. Since then The country had been going downhill till today. Nigeria can never make progress without Igbos even if the country tries till the next 200 years. The little input Igbos added under Obasanjo second term and Jonathan led to Nigeria becoming one of the biggest economies in the world then and a GDP that was one of the best , then compare that economy to that of the two idiots buhari and Emilokan that total excluded Igbos from theirs and make the conclusion yourself on where problem of Nigeria is coming from
