Due to the increasing number of applicants, the Nigeria university operates on four major modes of admitting students....they are listed and explained below..

1. MERIT : Universities in Nigeria so much value academic excellence. The easiest way to get admitted into any of these schools is by attaining distinctions in your qualification exams. You really can't have a beautiful result and not get admitted with the first batch. So if your results are good then be rest assured you are on the right path.

2. CATCHMENT : Catchment areas is also another method used by universities in admitting students. For example the university of Ilorin catchment areas are Kwara, Kogi, Benue, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Plateau, Sokoto, Zamfara. If you are from any of these states and you have chosen unilorin, you automatically have an edge over others. Every universities has their own catchment areas

3. ELDS : It means Education Less Developed State. These states are considered Educationally less developed or disadvantaged states. They are Adamawa, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross river, Ebonyi, Gombe, Jigawa, kaduna, Kano, Kastina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe, Zamfara. Candidates from any of these states are given special concession for admission in all universities

4. DISCRETION : This is were the remaining slot goes to after settling the first three above, discretion is a method in which some high profiled staff of a university drops qualified candidates who haven't been previously admitted . Only qualified candidates who have met the university creteria can be admitted through this methods.

Good morning everyone, I'm Emmanuel an undergraduate of one of the federal university in Nigeria. We are currently on long vacation break and I really want to make judicious use of this holiday financially wise as this will be of help in the next section.
