A Political support Group under the platform of "Apostle for Sylva/Maciver six point agenda" says Governor Douye Diri is a Chief architect of hate speech and agent of falsehood at this period of political season where the Governor is expected to give a scorecard of how he manages the state resources amounting to about 1.2. trillion naira in the last three years and seven months. In a statement signed and released on Monday in Yenagoa by the group State Coordinator, Prof. Wariowe Ebikeme, the release faulted the remark's of Governor Diri at an interactive session with the Bayelsa State Chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria, where he desecrate the alter of God by labelling Former Governor and APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva as a serial Killer who does not have a connection with the Church of God . The release wondered while Governor Diri choose the Church as an avenue to launch an aggressive character assassination on Former Governor, Timipre Sylva who had anchored his Governorship campaign on his six point agenda of Human Capital Development, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Economy, Power and Security . Prof.Wariowe statement note's that Governor Douye Diri Statement that Jesus is the Governor of Bayelsa State at the gathering is not only deceitful but a comic approach to run away from his bad policies and programmes that has put the homogenous Ijaw State as the second poorest state in Nigeria . The release further asked Governor Diri to desist from spreading hate speech and limit his political campaign within the scope of governance particularly his insensitivity to the local economy of the state. Prof. Wariowe added that the people of Bayelsa have resolved to queue behind the choice of Sylva/Maciver candidature adding that Monday's endorsement from the reputable Christian body will not save Governor Diri from heavy defeat at the poll. The group statement also told the Christian body that the Governor is not a believer, but a sycophant who is hiding under the umbrella of God's fellowship to preach peace in public forum, describing the Sampou Born Politician as a violent Politician who during the 2023 general elections sent over fifteen gunboats to cart away sensitive electoral materials in favour of unpopular Member of House of Representatives, Rodney Ambaiowei of the Peoples Democratic Party. https://www.riversmirror.ng/2023/09/apc-support-group-lambasts-douye-diri.html

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has announced the expansion of the ultramodern abattoir being constructed in Mgbuosimini community, Rumueme will now include an open spaced market and a motor park. Governor Wike made the announcement on Thursday , when he visited the project site to inspect the progress of work done on the world class abattoir designed with the capacity to slaughter 400 cattle, 1500 goats and sheep in one day. The Rivers State governor, who spoke to some residents who thronged out to herald his arrival and waited until he was done with his inspection tour, appealed to them to continue to give the contractor the needed support so that the project could be completed on schedule. "We are almost finishing the slaughter house and then we are building a market on this side. And we have to commission it before I leave office. So, that is what I want to tell all of you. "We want to start the park and the market immediately and that will create jobs for us. And I will make sure that those who are around here will be the direct beneficiaries of this jobs." Governor Wike however, frowned at the slow space of work on the world class modern abattoir project which is fully automated with the state-of-the- art facilities. The Governor stated that the extent of work already achieved on the project does not meet his expectation because the entire 100 percent contract sum had been paid to the contractor. Governor Wike inspected the meat mart, administrative building, internal roads, shore protection work, veterinary clinics and the laboratories structures that will check the health of animals before, and also the tissues when being slaughtered. "We have paid hundred percent. I just approved award of contract for the market to compliment the slaughter. "But the quality of job; well done, we are satisfied. They have told me that before the end of April, they would have completed the abattoir which is a modern abattoir." Governor reflected on the state of the former slaughter that was located at Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout and the unhygienic environment that traders conducted their activities, which was unacceptable. "But this is a modern abattoir were animals, cows and goats would be killed in a more civilized way as it is done according to international best practices." Governor Wike also used the opportunity to thank residents of Mgbuosimini community for supporting and voting for PDP in the last general election. "The incoming governor will not disappoint you people. He will even do better than me with your support. You can go home and sleep with your two eyes close." Governor Wike, also inspected the progress of work done at the magistrates' court premises along Moscow Road in Port Harcourt. The governor said the project should have been completed by December, 2022, but the delay was caused by some minor amendments made on the structural work. He explained that the expectation on the contractor now is to complete the external works and had it over by the end of April because the interior furnishing is completed. "This magistrates' court will be the best in the country. In fact, people call me and ask what kind of magistrates' court we talking about to have this kind of structure. "I said, well, we must give the best to enhance quality of work from them(magistrates). If you want them to give their best, the environment where they work must also be conducive." Speaking on how the facility will be maintained, governor Wike explained that the use of alucobond panels in the front view, indicates that there will be reduced cost of maintenance. Governor Wike pointed out that the Chief Judge is in charge of the judiciary and has to factor into their yearly budget money that will be required for the maintenance of the magistrate courts "It will not require much, just that what happens here (in this country) is that most of us lack the culture of maintenance. Some people believe that government property is not their property and therefore they don't care. "But for me, where ever you stay, you must assumed that it is your property and you maintain it the way you maintain your own personal property. "So, for me, I believe that the Chief Judge will do the right thing to making sure that these structures are well maintained, because nobody will come here and see such structures and then in the next few years the structures are unkept. "Nobody will be happy about that. I believe that the Chief Judge will do the needful."

IAUE VC, Prof. Onuchuku, Commends Gov. Wike on Employment at Ignatius Ajuru University. The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, has once more commended the governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for granting his request to employ new workers at the institution. The Vice-Chancellor made the commendation while declaring open a two-day orientation programme for the newly employed workers on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. Onuchuku noted that the employment has reduced the shortage of manpower at the institution and would empower it to sustain its position in human capacity development in the state and Nigeria as a whole. He charged the new workers to be committed to the discharge of their responsibilities, adding that it would be the only way to show their gratefulness to the state government for the opportunity. The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the orientation was organised to acquaint the new entrants with the rules and regulations guiding the operations of the university. He cautioned them to shun all unethical practices because his administration would not hesitate to sanction those found culpable of any form of misconduct, particularly all kinds of extortion from the students. “Some of the students are just managing to survive, don’t force them to buy books. Don’t extort money from the students when they come to your offices for one service or the other.” Onuchuku told the workers to be punctual and regular at work, while also insisting on the need to cultivate cordial relationships with their superiors and other colleagues, as he re-emphasised that any corrupt action would be punished. “Come to work early, relate well with your superiors and colleagues, and don’t do the wrong thing”, he advised. Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Acting Registrar, Mr Donald Okogbaa, disclosed that the shortage of manpower was a great concern to the vice-chancellor when he assumed office. He hinted that the dwindling workforce informed the VC’s appeal to the governor, as he expressed gratitude to Governor Wike for the approval. The Registrar said the orientation was carefully planned to inform the staff of the policies, procedures, and operations of the institution to empower them to work without problems, as well as to reshape their mindset about the civil service. He reminded them that the university operates differently from the mainstream civil service and that the management would not hesitate to employ all the enabling laws of the institution to punish those who contravene the laws and statutes. The Registrar also gave a brief history of the institution and explained the university structure. In the same vein, the Dean, Faculty of Education, Professor Vincent Asuru, gave a talk on the teacher and students: distinction in teaching and learning/classroom management and conduct, while Professor Femi Shaka of the University of Port Harcourt spoke on examination malpractice and the implications. Other resource persons were Professor Joseph Kinanee, who gave a discourse on managing work stress and workplace relationships, and Promise Woka of Rivers State University shed light on the role of the university administrator. https://www.riversmirror.ng/2023/03/ignatius-ajuru-university-vc-prof.html

AYU, THE FIGHT HAS JUST STARTED -WIKE Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared to Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who has been suspended by his political unit in Benue State that the fight against him in the party has just started. The governor stated that it has now become unthinkable to allow any person who was unable to deliver his political unit, ward, local government or State to the PDP during the last general elections to preside over the party. Governor Wike spoke on Monday during the inauguration of the remodeled Community Secondary School, Okoro-nu-Odo, in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of the State. The Rivers State governor accused Dr. Ayu of collecting bribe and the PDP experienced colossal failure in the 2023 presidential and governorship elections in Benue and across the country. "Ask them, those who want to be chairman of this party (PDP), what do you have to give to the party now? Presidential election; you took bribe, and lost in your unit, lost in your ward, lost in your local government and lost in your State. Which party will you preside over now?" Governor Wike said it was God who hardened Ayu’s heart not to resign when the G-5 governors and members of Integrity Group demanded for his resignation after the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the PDP presidential candidate. He noted if Ayu had resigned then, his cohorts who were vehemently opposed to the zoning of elective and appointive offices would have used that as an excuse for the party’s abysmal performance in the just concluded general elections. The governor said it will be morally offensive for Ayu to remain as the national chairman of the PDP after the catastrophic defeat of the party under his watch in his unit, ward, local government, State and national. According to him, the suspension of Ayu is the beginning of the fight to save the party. "Those of you who are fighting that they have suspended him, you have not seen anything yet. The fight has started. Ayu, the fight has just started. If you know him, those of you who are close to him, tell him, Iyorchia Ayu, the fight has just started." Governor Wike insisted that instead of Dr. Ayu, using his position to strengthen the grip of PDP of Benue State, he allowed it slip off him. According to him, other PDP controlled States cannot sustain the party financially and tolerate him as their chairman. "Will you preside over the one (Rivers PDP) I have secured victory for? You want to come and preside over this State (Rivers) so that we will begin to donate money to the party? You, bring your own State to the party too, so that your State can contribute money to the national. If you don't deliver your State, you can't preside over us. You cannot." Governor Wike noted that already, some persons within the party are thinking and acting to side with Dr Ayu to fight back the suspension slammed on him. He warned such persons that they will be doing so to their detriment because they would have consequences to face. Specifically, governor Wike said: "look at somebody who did anti-party, he is suspending people. The chief priest of anti-party, native doctor of anti-party suspending those who have worked hard for this party. "All of you who are joining Ayu, be prepared. Now, I have no other job, the job I have now is to put more heat on them and I will continue to do that." Governor Wike pointed out the nullity of the purported summoning of members of the National Working Committee of PDP to Abuja to meet and pronounce the suspension as illegal. "If you like, let the National Secretary rush to Abuja. Let them meet this afternoon and say the suspension is illegal, you will see what you will face. You are calling us small boys, you will see what small boys can do to you." Governor Wike stressed that those who thought they could toil with Rivers State and not be dealt with squarely can begin to lick their wounds because they have been "peppered". Governor Wike also dismissed the claim by the former governor of the State, Chibuike Amaechi that he constructed five flyovers during his tenure and yet cannot list them for identification. The governor restated that his administration, within four years, constructed 12 flyovers, handled by reputable construction company, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, and went ahead to list the flyovers to clear any public doubt. Governor Wike bemoaned the N50B squandered by the Amaechi administration on less than 2 kilometre monorail project that was never realised. He wondered why Rivers residents still listen to such politicians when they come around to woe them to allow them fill spaces of political leadership when they failed on previous promises of providing democratic dividend. Governor Wike thanked the people for voting massively to elect Sir Siminalayi Fubara, who is now Rivers State governor-elect. Commenting on the project, governor Wike recalled the deplorable state of the school and said Rivers school children who school there will now have a conducive learning place to advance their education. Inaugurating the project, governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi described governor Wike as a man who loves his people, which has informed the sustained delivery of projects across sectors to better their life. He insisted that given such massive infrastructural revolution so delivered, it will be joke taken too far for any opposing political party to think and dare challenge to win PDP in Rivers State . Governor Umahi corrected the impression in some quarters that Governor Wike worked against the victory of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi in Rivers State. He explained that in 2019, it was governor Wike who tirelessly mobilised political leaders in South East to support the vice presidential ambition of Peter Obi after supporting him to win that slot. Governor Umahi commended Ayu for not resigning when the G-5 governors and the members of the Integrity Group mounted pressure on him do so. According to him, if he had conceded to the demand then, it would have been difficult for the APC to win the last presidential election. “I want to also thank very highly the suspended Chairman of PDP. You know, he did very well because if he had accepted to resign, it would have been very difficult for the APC. So, he is our man and I commend him very well. And I'm begging Wike they should lift the suspension so that he can suspend many more of your leaders. We love what he has done. “And so we commend him and I think that Asiwaju (Bola Tinubu) must know that he worked for him, and must also integrate him in the next administration. And, so all these set of people, Asiwaju/Shettima must know that God turned their hands, to work for him, to actualize the will of God and actualize unity, equity and fairness. And we are very grateful to God for that.” The Ebonyi State governor also praised governor Wike, whose insistence that a southern Nigeria must succeed President Muhammadu Buhari paved way for the electoral victory of the APC is the south of the country. “God directly and indirectly made Governor Wike very much available. And so, there is no way APC can conclude about the success of the election without mentioning Governor Wike. And I will be asking Asiwaju/Shettima to please bring Governor Wike to the core administration of the federal government. He has a lot to offer. He has a lot to offer for the unity of the country.” Providing the description of the project, Rivers State Commissioner for Special Projects, Deinma Iyalla said the school, founded in 1982, over the succeeding years, suffered dilapidation until the intervention of governor Wike. According to him, there are one numbered unit of six and three classrooms block, three numbered unit six classrooms block, a storey building housing science laboratory, library and ICT, 300 sister Assembly hall, administrative building, a quarters for members of the National youths service corps and water supply facility. In his address, Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Chinedu Mmom noted that the premises once looked like an abandoned poultry farm but has been restored into a conducive educational facility. On his part, Chairman of Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, George Ariolu stated that the remodeled community secondary school is one in the series of magnificent projects governor Wike has delivered across the Rivers State. According to him, the project now stands among other, as an eloquent testimony of governor Wike's untiring commitment towards the provision of quality learning facilities for Rivers students. https://www.riversmirror.ng/2023/03/ayu-fight-has-just-started-nyesom-wike.html

Governor Wike gave the charge during the funeral service of the late Apiti of Rumueme, His Royal Majesty, Nyenwe Eli, Omunakwe Nyeche Nsirim at St. John’s Anglican Church, Rumueme on Saturday. He said Rumueme people should be happy that the monarch’s political activism brought the community to political limelight of the State. “He brought recognition to Rumueme kingdom. Whether you like it or not, he brought you recognition. There was a time in this local government, nobody could talk about Rumueme, even to come out as a councillor was a problem. “I know when we decided that a Rumueme man should be chairman of local government, it was a problem. But some of us stood firm and said we can’t continue this way. This man has fought, he was one of those who stood firm and fought for the creation of Obio-Akpor local government. “That was what led to two Rumueme sons becoming chairmen of Obio-Akpor; Dr Amadi and Timothy Nsirim. He was alive when his son because chairman of the local government he fought for.” Governor Wike, who described the late Nyenwe Eli, Omunakwe Nyeche Nsirim as an ardent defender of Rumueme’s interest, noted that prior his recognition by the Rivers State government as a first class traditional ruler, the community never had even a third class king. And because on this, those who were unable to forge intimacy with him had often misconstrued his actions and disposition. “Strong men are not liked easily, strong characters are not liked easily, those who are not yes members are not liked easily. Those who are highly opinionated, those who can say their mind for what is right are not easily liked, and that is the person you are seeing here.” In his sermon, the Rector St. John’s Anglican Church, Venerable Gabriel S.B. Omoleye, who preached on the topic; " A time for everything and purpose" admonished the congregation to conduct their life in manners that pleased God.
