Car Talk › Re: Tell Us Your Car Faults. Let's Assess And Fix Them by RoadMozart(m): 6:20pm On Feb 02, 2025 |
cardoctor: It's quite unfortunate that people like these exist here. Not a very great tribute but it does have some elements of truth. I am a mechanic and I'm extremely proud of my profession because I believe I have all the knowledge and experience to handle any automobile issue hence my background as a qualified and certified Automobile Engineer with experience that spans three continents.
Thus said, yes we do have many unscrupulous elements parading as Auto technicians who will recklessly rip apart any unsuspecting victim and fleece them as an appended part of his trade. Many of such victims usually seek cheap labour and minimal costs to parts (usually fake or substandard) to effect repairs on their cars. Familiarity and fairness of the first visit is the lure and over time becomes breach in trust, negligence and ignorance not forgetting incompetence. But thats what you get when you want cheap, unprofessional and unskilled labor. Most of these mechanics are illiterate to the discipline and ethics required for these tasks which are mostly complicated and requires a good level of knowledge of the operational principles of the Internal Combustion engine and the all its associated components before establishing a service provision platform. So you'll find out that most car owners are more educated via interactions and information on the Internet than the individual handling a repair job on their behalf. The frustration is that most car owners don't want to get their hands dirty and most likely don't have the mechanical temerity to process the job hands-on or may possibly be a total layperson. Thats the price you pay.
Back to terra firma, I have always maintained integrity and honesty as watchwords in my own professional conducts and have exhibited and conducted various challenging jobs in car repairs in 37 years of my career and I do know that certain jobs requires well grounded knowledge of car mechanics and particularly specific to the make and model of any car before ANY kind of repairs is attempted. I as a professional have had my hand burnt and disappointed from third party associations and have learned the hard way especially here in the climes of Nigeria. What I know now and understand is quite unbelievable and the dark side for those who don't know is treacherous and uncharted. Still best to approach with caution by verifying content and capacity before engagement.
Now for the poster of this post, may I inform you that Gazzuzz is not a thief. Kingreign is not a thief. Sienna is not a thief. Ikenna is not a thief and my humble self The Car-doctor of Nairaland, I AM NOT A THIEF. We are all professionals in this industry and I believe we represent and eschew great value on this forum so I bsee this as an insult to our personalities and more importantly our integrity when we get labeled and listed in the likes of those "quacks" as you rightly named whom you may have fallen victim to.
I am demanding an apology from you for you statement in this post on behalf of all Nairalanders and moderators especially on the Car Talk forum.
If I can ask you a question from the advice that you gave. It will go thus: WHO WILL FIT IN THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE YOU ADVISED? WHO?
Please lets respect ourselves here and avoid putting unnecessary fear into the hearts of those who are passionate and reliant on our honest contributions on this forum.
Thank you. One chilled Goldberg for you boss🙌 |

Biodun556:

My Toyota Corolla car fuel gauge was like these when we reached Ibadan from Abuja.
But we refilled as a precaution but when we get to lagos the driver said the full tank would have been a enough to take us to lagos even if we didn't refill in Ibadan.
Lagos to Abuja was 748 kilometers, more than 11hrs. Budget 1 full tank and half depending on your destination. If you’re goin as a far as Kubwa, Bwari you should have enough fuel to take you home from Lagos |

My car have covered 249km with 27.3 liters of fuel.
Is this fuel efficient, if no.....pls what do i need to do to improve my fuel efficiency.
There is no visible sign of check light. It’s not bad actually. You should just look out for some things. If the spark plugs are still white, your fuel consumption is good. Your driving habits too matters. If you accelerate and brake aggressively, your fuel go tell you. Among other factors sha |

Typing: Are you sure the quality of the iphone 7 camera has not faded. Considering the fact that, the iphone 7 is an older version of iphone that was made so many years ago? Its not, Considering your budget. If you shoot indoors ensure there is proper lightning. If outdoors, its not bad. You just have to ensure the phone you're getting is in good condition. Iphone has a very good mic if your going to use it for recording. Newer versions have this background noise reduction features which is very great if you're recording in a busy place outside. |

Start with a fairly used IPhone 7 if you have power supply. You should get a good one withim your budget and even get a ring light for lightning.
The iphone is better cos of its microphone and camera. Downside is the battery and incase you have to send it to an android device, it might not come in the usual mp4 format you know which might cause a small problem for you if you don't know your way around it. |
