Secondly, I think most builders follow the same steps you described up there and that answered the question by Diordaves as you already have in mind the precise roofing sheet design to be used before noggin.

Finally, thank you for getting back to us with that new design roofing sheet. I have already falling in love with it and hope they have it in coffee colour.

Thanks Steo, Its actually a 5 bedroom duplex at the front, while behind, i have a self contained(room, parlour with its own toilet and kitchen) downstairs and a 2-bedroom flat upstairs.
About colours of the roofing, its same aluminium that is normally used as either longspan or step tiles but d difference is in the corrugation, so if there is coffee colour in normal aluminium roofing sheets then there must be in this my type.

Roben, you got yourself an awesome edifice and thanks for the trouble of updating us with yet another type of roofing sheet. Just a quick one: I noticed you have designed and built (nog) your roof before going out to scout for your choice sheet. My question is; did you design your roof to the specification of the sheet shown? If yes, what if you did not find the sheet in your search wouldn't that have resulted in changing the nogging design thereby increasing more cost?

I asked this question because I have noticed that some of us here first nog our roof and then go in search of sheet type. Please folks note that this is wrong. Different sheet with different nogging design. Be specific and if possible secure your sheet first before nogging to the specification of the sheet. Also note that some sheets (especially the imported ones) are designed to use less wood in the roofing process, while some sheets are very wasteful in timber use.

Well, when it comes to roofing, this what I normally do and feel is best 4 me;
1.  1st of all I have to decide on the kind of roofing sheet I want to use for the house.
2.  I get carpenters to do the noggin using the roofing design of my house bearing in mind my choice of roofing sheet to determine the wood layout.
3.  I get aluminum roofers to come take accurate measurement after the carpentary job is fully completed.
4.  Then the sheets are installed.
If any professional here has any other process better than what I highlighted above, pls share and lets gain from ur wealth of experience.

From the onset, I already chose to do my roofing with aluminum step tiles which was still what I did except that this has a different corrugation but same nogging for step tiles. I may be wrong but I feel it is wrong to already buy roofing sheet b4 noggin

Guys gud morning and a gr8 week 2 us all. Last week I wrote here that I saw a very new aluminium corrugation in town that looked like stone tiles and I promised 2 bring it on this section as soon d guy I sent for the search returns, the guy is finally back.

Thanks alot, Roben. I already found a carpenter and as of this morning, I confirmed that all the materials needed for nogging has been delivered to site. The company installing the roof tiles (Larpolonia) took someone to the person representing me as I am not around right now. I really appreciate. May God be our strength and see us all through to the end of these projects!

@Spyder and all, My project is being roofed right now. I come here to read when I have the time but I have not been contributing always cos of limited time factor. I was looking for the type of roofing sheet when I saw a roofing sheet that wowed me. Its an aluminum but with a different corrugation from step tiles, It looks very fine like a stone or metro tiles. I have searched Lagos but havent seen it but someone told me it could be in the east. I want to send someone in search of it and I promise that if they could get it 4 me, I will bring it here 4 all nairalanders 2 see.

@Spyder, have U in the eastern part seen any corrugation like metro tiles but its acually aluminium?

Because of the number of people/ experts following this thread as it seems to be one of the hottest on the property section on NL, I am appealing to the gurus in the house to please advice. I have a property in Lekki/ Ajah axis of Lagos (picture attached) and I am at the nogging stage. I need a GOOD, I mean GOOD and skillful carpenter to help with the nogging for roof tiles. The property is at the heart of Ajah itself, not far from the road at all. I have been getting quotations from several carpenters including the one used by the Engineer to get the property to this stage,  But I want to be part of the benefactors on NL + keeping my options open so as to make a better choice and get good quality. Carpenter has to reside in LAGOS, preferably on the Island!

OH! The Engineer? I fired him when I got back for mismanagement of funds,  You dont wanna know how much I have spent to get to this stage. Once bitten , twice shy. I wish ur house is around mine, I would have directed some carpenters that came from the east to roof my house to ur site. They are very good and very fair in their charges; My house is in Amuwo Odofin axis and they are not based in Lagos, so might not find it easy locating ajah but if U still need them, lets see how we can work it. They are almost thru with my project.

Spyder880, very enlightening thread indeed. I want to know how much it costs u per meter square to buy that 0.45 guage first aluminium U used on the other roofing thread? Also from ur experience is there a possibility of having fake first aluminium sheets or better still, how do one identify a fake first aluminium roofing sheets?

The whole area covered with POP (living room, dining room and lobby) cost me N97,000. I don't do sqm or sqft with anybody - I buy the materials and call Alex to come and fix for me. Simple!

The POP can carry ceiling fan but not advisable!

How much is ur 30 tons of granite(3/4) delivered to satellite town in lagos? I mean full 30 tons as my engineer will reject it if its not the right quantity.
