Hi All, I got a presentation from my intended school this evening on tips to apply for study permit visa. See below. I need to add that the school said we can reach out to their immigration personnel to assist us with our Visa application. I am waiting for my GCSM note. once is made available, will be getting free consultation from the individual. Please apply it as you deem fit. This document should include the following points: • Mention the program for which you have been accepted, and outline a couple of reasons why you wish to study in Canada • Explain your overall educational goals • Continuation of studies, academic interests, advancement of career opportunities in home country, linkages between your education goals and career plans, and how studying in Canada will help you achieve these goals • Is a similar program offered in your home country/country of residence? • Do universities in your home country offer the same program? How does your Canadian degree differentiate? What research have you done to prove your point? Why are you choosing Canada over staying in your home country to study? • How will the program enhance your employment opportunities in your country of residence/citizenship? • Previous employment, availability of jobs for which you don’t yet meet the educational requirement (but will after completion of Canadian degree and upon return to your home country) Show ties to home country • As a student in Canada, you are a temporary resident and must leave Canada after your studies are completed. The processing agent must be satisfied that you will leave Canada by the of the period authorized for your stay and respecting the conditions of your temporary status in Canada. • You can show ties to your home country in various ways: • how well-established your family is (father, mother, siblings), your obligations towards your family, family business, property ownership and source of income in home country • Provide details of previous education (if any) • Start and end dates, full name and address of educational institution(s), and completed degrees/diplomas/certificates • Summarize the above points and thank the officer for their time |
Austinpee4:Thanks a lot for your response |
Austinpee4:Just to clarify, in my second application attempt, does that mean that I will be able to link the file online with the existing one (i.e. the one I created during my first application)? Please for somebody who was previously refused Visa and wants to link the application online, what will be the process to link the application online? |
[quote author=Prudento post=67690314]You have not told us when u applied, when you got the request and whether you linked your application online ( which should indicate the status of your medicals)[/quote He mentioned last week that he got medical request. If i am not mistaken, he is the guy with travel history to Cyprus. |
Newman1010:@newman1010, can i PM you please? |
MeinKampf:Alright. Thanks for the clarification. I am eagerly awaiting the note. I can't wait. Resumption is fast approaching. |
MeinKampf:Hi, It may or it may not. In my own case, I had previously travelled to Canada. Didn't stay up to six month and I was picked on travel history. Although, I birth my baby in Canada which was not stated in my TRV application then. I am yet to receive the GMCS note to understand the issue. I have another instance where an applicant visa was denied because all other members of the family currently holds a valid TRV. I am in this situation as well. Once I receive my note, I will share it. Thus, previous travel history to Canada may or may not affect your application based on the circumstance involved. Thanks |
jnyuwa02:Wow.... Thanks. I will wait as I need to understand the main issues. I think I still have time on my side as school resumes 23 Sept. I want members to deliberate my issues before firing back. |
vibrant99:I never mentioned in my post that I will not wait for the GCSM notes. I emphasized that I drafted another SOP in readiness for the GCSM note. Of course, I don't wish for denial in my second attempt. |
ayoslas88:I was at the VFS by 10am. Waited for 30 minutes and I got my passport |
ayoslas88:There wasn't long queue. Got there around 10am. Waited for 30 minutes and I collected my passport. |
Austinpee4:Thanks a lot. This is noted. |
mcobex:Thanks for your response. I have a BSC in Accounting,. I have 10 years working experience as tax consultants in a professional Firm, I propose to study MBA, University of New Brunswick. I leveraged on my work experience as the drive to further my studies. Thanks. |
Hello House, I started following NL since I submitted my TRV application in March. However, I must state that since March and now, I have gather more than enough information on this forum and I can certify myself as immigration consultants on Study TRV. I even went as far back in following thread 13. Please I have an issue at hand. I was refused of my TRV on 10 May, 2018. Reasons for the refusal are: Travel History and Statement of Purpose. Of course, I knew the next step of action. I ordered for my GCMS notes even before I picked up my passport on Monday but the note is yet to be made available to me. Now to the main concern. I have travel history. (to Canada, Dubai, SA etc). I have been to Canada before and also, still have a valid Visa on my passport. I didn't stay up to six months, never committed crime (background check was completed without any flags) but however, had a baby. Could that be the reason why i was picked on travel history? Besides, all my friends who previously traveled to Canada on TRV for birthing purposes were never refused in their subsequent application. Also, my husband, son all have valid Visas to Canada. Could that be the reason?. Guru in the house, please I need your advice as I await my GCMS notes or possible response to the refusal if those identified above could be the reasons. If yes, how can I respond? Do I need to plead for not stating birthing purposes in my previous TRV application? How can I tackle this? With regard to purpose of Visit, I have drafted another one as the previous SOP submitted was not convincing enough. I just adopted / built on another person's SOP who was also refused. The revised SOP is now finalised. Please can any of the Gurus in the house assist in reviewing this in readiness for my GCMS notes? I will send what I previously submitted as SOP and the new one I developed to the volunteer to see the extent of work and originality I have now done. I wish to submit my application latest two days after my GCMS notes are received as I have started collating all my documents again. School resumes 23 September. Besides, I was awarded a scholarship of $4,000 and my sister, practising medical doctor in Canada is my sponsor. I was not flagged on ties in Canada cos I showed strong ties at home in form of assets n family members (husband n son) as I stated they were not going to accompany me. |
ayoslas88:No worries then. I asked because I have travel history including entry to Canada in the past. Guess that is the reason mine is a bit delayed. |
ayoslas88:Please do you have travel history? I submitted mine since 27 March (almost six weeks) and the only update is my background check is being processed. For eligibility, it says - Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility. |
croyance:Congratulations. Wishing your all the best and may God grant your wife safe delivery. All the best. |
Hello House. I need your professional advice. I am currently awaiting my TRV (Study) to be approved and I proclaim that by the special grace of God, I will give testimony on this forum. Now to my question, my husband and Son have TRV already. Just thinking, should I apply for SOWP for my husband once my TRV is approved or we all enter Canada and get their documents regularised?. I have been on CIC site and I read that application can be made inside of Canada. I don't know how easy that could be and if we have people who have explore this route in the past. For my daughter, she is a Canadian Citizen, no issue with her. Just concerned on the best approach for my husband and my son. Your comments are welcome please. |
Hello House, I am just curious. Is it possible for an applicant's TRV for schooling purposes be denied if one has scholarship from a Canadian University? |
Martswoll:Alright then. Fingers crossed and let us hope for the best. Guru in the house, is it ok that one has both background and eligibility checks running at the same time? I felt background check needs to be completed before proceeding to eligibility. |
Martswoll:Hello @Martswoll. Just to clarify. Do you have travel history? In my own case, I have been in Canada before for Vacation and my status is still saying that background checks are being conducted. |
veravanna:Congrats @veravenna |
@ Ncify, My husband was not around too when I applied for my baby's Canadian passport this year. What information do you have on the birth certificate? If you are the only person listed under the parent section on the birth certificate, your husband's signature will not be required on the application for the Canadian passport. If your husband name is indicated on the birth certificate, he will be required to sign some forms at the Canadian Consulate office in Nigeria before the passport can be processed. All the best. |
Hello All, My message is directed to hotstepper. Please I sent an email to you in respect of your assistance/ using your good relationship in fast tracking the emergency document which I applied for my baby at the Nigeria High commission Ottawa. Thanks |

Many thanks Hotstepper for this clarification and prompt response. I appreciate. Just wanted to know if that option could be explored. |
Hello All, Trust all members are fine. Please I need quick clarification in respect of baby's documents when born in Canada. Based on what I have read so far, mothers process the following documents for their babies when born i.e. *Birth certificate *Canadian passport and lastly, *Nigerian Passport/Emergency Travel document. My question, can I limit my baby's documents to these two? i.e. processing of birth certificate and Nigerian Passport/Emergency Travel document while i process the Canadian passport for baby once I get back to Nigeria via the Consulate Office in VI? Mothers who have been previously opportune to birth and process documents for babies should please respond on their view @ Hotstepper, kindly respond on your view as well. This question has never been raised in the group. Thanks. |
Thanks KeishSunshine. I really appreciate. Will ensure the test is done a day before leaving Nigeria. |
Hi Keishsunshine, Congrats on the arrival of your new born. Just to clarify, does Canada accept medical reports from Nigeria? Please what are the recommended test a pregnant woman is supposed to do? Will appreciate if you can assist please. I will be flying in December. |
Thanks Jinyeid for the prompt response. |
Congrats @Jinyeld on the arrival of your new born. Just to clarify, how many nights did you stay at the hospital for a C-Section? Did you stay for just one night?. Please confirm as I will most likely give birth through C-Section as well. |
