one this guy mr ita awak is not the APC publicity secretary,he is an impostor. Disclaimer My attention has been drawn to various publications on new and print media by certain cohorts and ostensibly a certain man called mr ita awak parading himself as the State Publicity Secretary. of APC Akwa Ibom State Chapter. I wish to bring to public notice that there has been no congress held to elect new officers of the party at any level of the party in the Country as I remain the only State Publicity Secretary of APC Akwa Ibom State and that the party does have any parallel executives other than that recognised by the national exco . Our party constitution is clear,Mr Ita Awak is an impostor and impersonator, I advice him and I will continue to advise him to stop impersonating my office. It is my believe that Mr Ita awak was appointed PA to the State Chairman on media and publicity and instead of him to carry out his jobs as assigned, he is now trying to carry-out my jobs. He should be warned to desist fotthwith. APC is a discipline party that respect the party constitution very well in that the Office of the State Publicity Secretary is not an appointive offce but an elective office of which I contested the party's congress and won. The general public is hereby advice not to take any publication made by Ita Awak serious as he is not holding brief for me nor have the capacity to speak for the party in the state as there is only one State Publicity Secretary of APC. Thank you, Signed Obong Samuel Udobong State Publicity Secretary- APC Akwa Ibom State |
Biography Bob Marley was born on February 6, 1945, in Nine Miles, Saint Ann, Jamaica, to Norval Marley and Cedella Booker. His father was a Jamaican of English descent. His mother was a black teenager. The couple planned to get married but Norval left Kingston before this could happen. Norval died in 1955, seeing his son only once. Bob Marley started his career with the Wailers, a group he formed with Peter Tosh and Bunny Livingston in 1963. Marley married Rita Marley in February 1966, and it was she who introduced him to Rastafarianism. By 1969 Bob, Tosh and Livingston had fully embraced Rastafarianism, which greatly influence Marley's music in particular and on reggae music in general. The Wailers collaborated with Lee Scratch Perry, resulting in some of the Wailers' finest tracks like "Soul Rebel", "Duppy Conquerer", "400 Years" and "Small Axe." This collaboration ended bitterly when the Wailers found that Perry, thinking the records were his, sold them in England without their consent. However, this brought the Wailers' music to the attention of Chris Blackwell, the owner of Island Records. Blackwell immediately signed the Wailers and produced their first album, "Catch a Fire". This was followed by "Burnin'", featuring tracks as "Get Up Stand Up" and "I Shot the Sheriff." Eric Clapton's cover of that song reached #1 in the US. In 1974 Tosh and Livingston left the Wailers to start solo careers. Marley later formed the band "Bob Marley and the Wailers", with his wife Rita as one of three backup singers called the I-Trees. This period saw the release of some groundbreaking albums, such as "Natty Dread", "Rastaman Vibration". In 1976, during a period of spiraling political violence in Jamaica, an attempt was made on Marley's life. Marley left for England, where he lived in self-exile for two years. In England "Exodus" was produced, and it remained on the British charts for 56 straight weeks. This was followed by another successful album, "Kaya." These successes introduced reggae music to the western world for the first time, and established the beginning of Marley's international status. In 1977 Marley consulted with a doctor when a wound in his big toe would not heal. More tests revealed malignant melanoma. He refused to have his toe amputated as his doctors recommended, claiming it contradicted his Rastafarian beliefs. Others, however, claim that the main reason behind his refusal was the possible negative impact on his dancing skills. The cancer was kept secret from the general public while Bob continued working. Returning to Jamaica in 1978, he continued work and released "Survival" in 1979 which was followed by a successful European tour. In 1980 he was the only foreign artist to participated in the independence ceremony of Zimbabwe. It was a time of great success for Marley, and he started an American tour to reach blacks in the US. He played two shows at Madison Square Garden, but collapsed while jogging in NYC's Central Park on September 21, 1980. The cancer diagnosed earlier had spread to his brain, lungs and stomach. Bob Marley died in a Miami hospital on May 11, 1981. He was 36 years old. |

the candidate is not interested again. A THANK YOU MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE OF AKWA IBOM STATE. [A Press Statement By Mr. Umana Okon Umana] We fought a good fight, but since the Supreme Court has taken its decision on the 2015 Governorship Election in Akwa Ibom State, we have no choice but to move on. I thank my supporters and the good people of Akwa Ibom State for their resilience and support in the struggle to deepen democracy in the state and give our people the right to freely choose who governs them. Our struggle for change has only suffered a setback; change will surely come because no one can stop the march of an idea that has been embraced by the mass of the people. As law-abiding citizens we went to court to seek justice after the disputed elections, as advised by many people and election monitors, including the United States Embassy and the European Union, which had reached independent conclusions that the elections were marred by widespread irregularities. Our hope was that the Judiciary would heal the wounds and provide succour for our people who were traumatised and brutalised during the elections, especially the families who lost their loved ones. But that was not to be. We trust God, who is the God of justice, to provide solace and comfort for those who could not get justice within the framework of our legal system. Ultimately we would all be accountable to God for our actions. We salute the courage and patriotism of our people and urge them to continue to pray for the peace, progress and prosperity of our dear state and country. I am aware that our people are surprised by the judgment of the Supreme Court, given the findings of the Tribunal that evaluated the evidence and heard directly from the witnesses, and after the Court of Appeal had taken the following historic position: "May this country never again experience the violence and thuggery found to have taken place in Akwa Ibom State during the Governorship elections held on 11th April 2015. Politics should never be so desperate that lives and decorum are sacrificed on the altar of winning at all costs. The descent into almost anarchy as occurred in this case must never again be allowed to take place. The supervising body, INEC, is charged at all times to remain on the side of truth and never be complicit in any subversion of due process." This is not a statement that should be taken lightly. Though it is not our place to question the integrity of the Judiciary as an institution, the situation in which we have found ourselves today calls for very serious soul-searching by our nation. Once again, I salute the courage and steadfastness of Akwa Ibom people. Signed: Umana Okon Umana Akwa Ibom APC Governorship Candidate |

Incurred Public Debts Of N10trillion ($50billion) In 10 Yrs (2007-2016) (Onitsha Nigeria, 2nd February 2016)-The leadership of International Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule of Law (Intersociety) wishes to inform statistically that the Nigerian political leaders holding forth at the Federal, States, Local Government and Federal Capital Territory have between January 2005 and December 2016; a period of 12 years, squandered a whopping sum of N118.2trillion or $600billion. The squandered public funds are made up of generated and borrowed funds secured for the purpose of budgetary expenditures in all of the country’s public offices, between January 2005 and December 2016. The political leaders under reference include the Federal authorities, the authorities in charge of the country’s 36 States and 774 constitutionally recognized Local Government Areas (LGAs) as well as the authorities of the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja); numbering 17,500, made up of elected and appointed public office holders in the executive, legislative and judicial arms of government. The political authorities under reference, have also between June 2007 and December 2016; a period of ten years, incurred staggering public debts of over N10trillion or $50billion from local and international sources; comprising States and Federal Government’s local and foreign loans. Nigeria’s official or public total debts as at May 2007 stood at $23.5billion; comprising local debts of N1.8trillion ($20billion: 140.00/US$) and foreign debts of $3.5billion. This was after its $30billion foreign loans were liquidated in 2006 courtesy of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and leading international lending institutions. But by the end of December 2016, Nigeria’s current total public debts must have risen to over N14.6trillion or $73billion. The Buhari’s federal Presidency alone has proposed a public borrowing of over $9billion or N1.84trillion in the 2016 budget proposal. Average of 20%-30% of 2016 budget proposal of each State in Nigeria is also expected to be funded from local or international borrowings. When added, the country’s total official or public debts will be raised to as much as $80billion or N16trillion by the end of December 2016. The country’s current official public debts as at June 2015 were quoted by DMO as “N11.1trillion or $63.8billion”, using old official exchange rate of N155/US$. This is no longer fiscally realistic. Crookedness is also associated with government local borrowings in Nigeria; making it difficult for DMO to appropriately capture every kobo borrowed locally particularly by State Governments. As a matter of fact, totality of public borrowed funds in Nigeria both openly and illicitly borrowed; is strongly believed to be in the neighborhood of $80billion to $90billion or N18trillion or even more. Nigeria had also spent a whopping sum of N2.95trillion or $15billion in the past five years (2010-2014) in debts servicing. It is also feared in many informed quarters that Nigeria’s current public debts may most likely double at the end of President Buhari’s embattled administration by 2019, owing to alarming rates with which loans are being borrowed by his administration and subordinates of his administration particularly the State Governors. freereporters.info/how-nigerian-politicians-squandered-n118-2trillion-600billion-public-funds-in-12-yrs-2005-2016/ |
