Karin001:
We need to act on the whatsapp group immediately.
Its quite tough attending to so many things simultaneously but all promises that I have made will be kept. That is my assurance. Where I have not kept it may mean that I probably forgot and a gentle nudge might just be enough as a reminder. Hi Karin, I won't stop appreciating you for this selfless act. Please as much as I don't intend to dictate for you, I humbly implore you to be mindful of people whom this thread serves as a lifeline to, those whom you've given cause to smile again, those who may not have reached out to you either on this thread or personally. Let the creation of the WhatsApp group not dim the light of hope enkindled in them. Let them not be cut- off from your mentorship. You may not know how many people whose lives you've turned around by the creation of this thread, so please don't forsake them. Thank you. |

Karin001: By November we will be adding some new products to our portfolio. Those people who are already selling the doughnuts will begin to draw significant benefits from this project because the cost of logistics will be brought seriously done while profitability will increase commenusrately. Please keep working even if it is in a mental state.
Mr. Allstrasse and I have exchanged emails and we have finally agreed to something which we hope is beneficial. I have proposed that when the interested participants who don't have the financial wherewithal to commence are ready and we are assured of their commitment, Mr. Allstrasse will transfer the value of 100,000 to the account of the producing company. According to him, he has already visited his preferred company and is on standby to provide the necessary help when the participants are ready.
Bionica is already paying for two people (perhaps non-nairalanders)who are currently selling doughnuts. He is willing to add lexaydfg to the current beneficiaries of his largess.
Please note however that this funding is a loan and not a grant. Those interested should indicate their names on the body of the thread. You're a rare breed. More blessings. |

Tyche: I salute the doggedness of the Op and other well meaning contributors. I had wanted to make this contribution ab initio, but time never permitted me to.
I stand to be corrected, but With the biting recession, doughnuts and their likes are more of a luxury than necessity and may be difficult for a new player to play in.
However, playing within the agricultural value chain, in my humble opinion, would have been more rewarding as people have to eat.
it justs needs synergy, thinking big and starting small Hello, thanks for your contribution. Even though we're already neck-deep in the snacks deal, I still think jettisoning your idea is not only myopic but limiting. lexaydfg: I am really speechless as regards to the commencement of this project. I really don't know what's going on. We were suppose to start last week but due to some unforeseen circumstances we couldn't which is understandable, today we were suppose to start fully but still yet nothing is forthcoming.
@Allstrasse, what your earlier said is a welcome idea.
@olutoyiin, the holy book says, the violent take it by force, don't allow anyone to hinder you from succeeding. There is a quote I saw on this thread that says, no one can stop you from succeeding but YOURSELF.
@estwhile, hey..
@karin001, Hope all is well? Hi, I believe your major concern now should be raising the capital, if you haven't yet. You've made your order, innit?, so follow it through. You're even more advantaged in the sense that you're no longer a stranger to the supplier. Move ahead, to each his own. |

estwhile: Your post really caught me off guard, why would you say this? Honestly, I believe majority of the "used to be active members " of this thread have become laid back and ironically, the ones who are interested don't seem to have enough capital to commence fully. Nevertheless, I do agree with you that where there's a will there's a way.
But I thought you asked to commence next week? Would have given you a lady's contact at a public school at Ile iwe. I mentioned this before but you didn't reply. Guy, it's high time we stopped relying on others to chart our course. Karin has done more than enough to enable anyone stand on his/ her feet. This whole effort will amount to noughts if we keep expecting her to spoonfeed us. Of what benefit is it to be blowing grammar on this thread without reasonable action? Everything has been laid bare here, he who knows how to pound should pound inside the mortar, he who doesn't, should pound on his laps. Karin has given out the universal formula. |

Allstrasse: Karin and all, Good day to you.
I must say that I am a bit disappointed with the goings on here. OP has invested so much in this project without seeking any personal benefit. I just find this our inaction distasteful.
I seek your permission Karin to set up some people as distributors of the doughnuts in an area of my choice. I will pay for their orders and have them supplied. I will supervise them and help them grow via sponsorship and I will report to the house in respect of their progress in the trade.
In the meantime, can some one provide the phone numbers of the producers? I need to take the bull by the horns. It beats me why you're sounding all enraged here. The "inaction" as you called it may not have been intentional or premeditated. Personally, I have my reasons for lying low about the doughnuts now, so please cool it off. |

Thank God for His healing mercies upon your baby. So glad to have you back. I missed you!!! That hiatus was a blessing in disguise for me. I decided to tryout what I've learnt from this thread on plantain chips distribution, and I must say it was (and will remain) a very good venture, it was among the best decisions I've taken this year, the feeling of accomplishment derived therefrom is second to none. You never know what you can achieve until you try. We are like rubber bands, the moment you're stretched either voluntarily or compulsively, your latent abilities become manifest and utilitarian. Karin, God bless you manifold.Karin001: Nutrientrich and Fairy Pastries have sent in their positions;
According to Nutrientrich her response says;
'Good evening Madam,
Delivery can be made by 7 a.m. at Omole & Ikotun.
The price per pack of 25 is 950.
Thanks Ma'am.
I suppose that this translates to an everyday delivery possibility at these two locations.
Madam Nutrientrich, you didn't mention the payment options as requested. Please post this directly on the thread. Does the above position also apply to Fairy Pastries? Her standpoint should also be made public so as to guide the choice making. |

Karin001: Thanks Oga latestarter.
Nothing could be closer to the truth. You encapsulated the entire objective of the thread in one sentence. Nothing beats collective bargaining.
I was hoping that with more people coming on board and in forging a united front we could actually look at the possibility of collective bargaining.
Yes it is true that the producers are experiencing a sharp increase in the cost of production occasioned by the ever increasing cost of the US Dollar vis-à-vis the Naira I am sure that in practical terms and increase in the production volume will naturally translate to an increase in turnover and where there is adequate emphasis on efficiency profits are meant to come.
More reactions please.
I didn’t quite decide on the doughnuts but I actually wanted a combination of both. The chin-chin is indeed my strength but I opted for the sales of doughnuts first because in my experience newbies would have to be guided gradually into the sales experience. Doughnuts is an everyday sales. Chin-chin is slower but less risky and more profitable. The choice of doughnuts is just to help newbies begin to see how easy it is to make little monies every single work day.
I will address this issue further when I resume later tonight. At the moment I have to attend to wifely/motherly duties.
Thank you latestarter for this excitement. See you soon. Explained. Please negotiate well with the producers so that the little monies would worth the efforts. |

Well done Karin!
About pricing: 1: Making a profit of #50 on #1000 irrespective of logistics involved to and fro producer and retailers is not impressive.
2: Selling above the current market rate will not augur well for new entrants trying to carve out a niche for themselves.
3: If one of the producers is not agreeing to terms, then we can make do with whoever does. Note, we're not their paid sales reps., we need our own profits too.
With respect to the odds against the doughnuts and also lending my voice to Latestarter's, Please Karin, is there any particular reason we're not starting with the chin chin whose producers you've already developed business relationship with? I believe you're well aware of how to navigate the waters better. We can add doughnuts as we proceed. |

lexaydfg: Another observation from two different shops...
Fairy's Doughnuts * It is good and they like it so much. * It well packed, the taste is okay.
Nutrientrich Doughnuts * It is also good and they like it. * The packaging is not too good, if water touches it, it will be exposed to air which is not too good for this type of business. They shouldn't use gum seal but heat seal.
Generally, the two are both okay. Thanks for your efforts. In actual fact, perfection is only found in God. There's nothing completely without a grey area. Moreso, choices vary. All we need do is to focus on the important properties that will promote the biz ' cos if we keep digging, we'll definitely continue to find more cons. This will impede/ complicate the decision making. Wish Karin will address these issues for good. |

nutrientrich: Thank you so much Rose and Alltrase.
I wish I had the required time to be explicit but I am presently in the process of interviewing some prospective employees for our new branch at Ikotun.
However, let me quickly chip in this: the 'wetness' and elasticity of dough (as a result of which it doesn't break into pieces) is not because of insufficient cooking but the presence of melted butter and 'vital wheat gluten' since a percentage of white flour is substituted with unrefined whole wheat flour (part of the reasons why the doughnut is heart healthy, apart from the frying method). This is an information I wouldn't have shared ordinarily, but it's okay.
Please take time to find out more about vital wheat gluten on the internet.
The shelf isn't compromised in any way. The way sugar attracts moisture to itself in any sugar laden product inorder to increase shelf life is thesame way VWG attracts moisture from the dough, so shelf life isn't compromised.
I must also say that this is the first time we are having a feedback of insufficient cooking, I guess that's what a lay man will describe what I've explained above.
All in all, if we want the conventional doughnut, that would imply removing the claim of it being heart healthy... Thanks ma'am for finding time to make the explanations, it's well deserved. However, it's worthy of note that we don't just want doughnuts, doughnuts abound. Nobody is in dispute with the heart-friendliness of the doughnuts, the removal of that claim is tantamount to forsaking your trademark, would you really want to give a try? In a nutshell, give us quality, durable, pocket-friendly and healthy doughnuts. Thank you. |

lexaydfg: I'm just coming back from some shops I visited in my area this morning.
I showed them the samples...
They said nutrientrich doughnuts is not well done/prepared but it is okay, it taste good in the mouth and it a doughnuts. But it not well done as in, it has done well.
And then for fairy, it is breaking as in dropping in pieces when eating it and seems more like bread.
They preferred nutrientrich doughnuts more but it hasn't done well that's the complain they had.
They advised I should first start with the chin-chin first and then add doughnuts to it because they will buy more of the chin-chin than the doughnuts.( This is just the research on few shops)
I wish I could get to some schools today but it the weekend.
I have like 10 doughnuts with me, if you are interested in the samples you can mention me, and you stay around alimosho axis.. (iyana-paja, ikotun and egbeda etc)
Happy Independence Day and Happy new month
Cc. karin001 The insufficient cooking could be the outcome of her not using the conventional deep frying method, as she said. This may also negatively affect the shelf life, not a good one. If this is truly the case, some clarifications need to be done here by nutrientrich herself. To be able to break into and sustain the market, all loose ends must be tightened soonest. Karin, please look into these observations. |

Money issue usually does not end well. [b]Rose75 is the next most active person on this forum, she should be saddled with the responsibility.
Contradiction walking on its toes!!!!!!
Does the activity of rose75 translate to membership of an artillery brigade which confers on her the ability to wad off/ resolve conflicts?
"she should be saddled with" smirks of compulsion, and I detest that in its entirety. This approach scored below average.
Better still a committee of volunteers can be set up to administer the funds after vetting the applicants.
