It is

With due respect, it is not.

Acha/Fonio/Hungry rice is grown in Nigeria specifically Plateau, Southern Kaduna and Southern Bauchi and some parts of West Africa. My mother has cultivated it in the past and I've worked on the farm. So please I'm talking about what I know personally, and I always have it in my house.

The picture of the Acha/Fonio crop is the grassy plant below

On the other hand Quinoa is a plant that is not grown in any part of Nigeria and research shows it can not be cultivated as the climate here is not favourable to its cultivation. "...quinoa cannot be grown in Nigeria since the country's climate and soil are insufficient for quinoa production. Typically, quinoa is grown at altitudes of 8,000 to 10,000 feet in South America's Andean highlands." the quote above is extract from a site I researched

The picture of the Quinoa crop is the herbal/shrub plant below.

I hope I've been able to convince you now that they are not the same.

This is Acha or Fonio( aka Hungry Rice)...

I'll tell you a quick story about this grain.
I work in the Health sector and I must say from my experience that one of the most difficult thing to control is the diet of a Diabetic patient. No matter the Nutritional advice offered and the consequent crisis, they are mostly non compliant. Can you blame them though, Food is life.

I saw this grains for the first time with my Mother-in-Law, she's been diabetic for the past 18 years and apart from the very first few years of her diagnosis, she's never had a single crisis. She swears by Acha.

It can be boiled and eaten with stew like Rice, blended to powder and used as swallow, used as flour for Bread, Akara, Moimoi, Pan cakes... Name it
She's living the life honestly.

Has anyone else heard of this grain? Please share your thoughts.

You actually don't have to blend it to make swallow with it, but last last it's your preference that does it though.

Acha is the food anyone looking to lose weight should go for, it can prepared in so many different ways and recipes.

It's truly grossly underrated, Nigeria should be exporting this staple, but alas a lot of Nigerians aren't even aware of such a wonder food let alone growing in commercial quantity. .

In addition to Plateau and Southern Kaduna, It's also grown in Southern Bauchi.

My house always has Acha in stock, I've introduced some Delta people to it cheesy cheesy cheesy

PressMyButton:
Most idiotic statement ever. 8 out of 10 times when this man talks infront of a microphone, he vomits trash. It is like saying, you deliberately serve people a plate of stone rice because you want others to be provoked and deliver clean rice to the masses. Worse of all, he was saying this in the palace of an emir. I wasn't informed of northerners write him a letter to come dig boreholes for them neither is he the first southerner to donate projects in the north. When we talk about how mediocre he was as Governor, some ignorant folks would start kicking themselves to the floor. He has confessed with his own mouth how shameful and disgraceful that he couldn't deliver an ordinary borehole.

Wow so wow, you won't use the same energy to pressure your non performing politicians to do what you elected them to do o. It's someone that is using his personal money to help the poor that you are flexing your muscles to denigrate o.

Ask the people there if the borehole is not producing good water for them which their politicians have failed to do over the years.

These kinds of mindset are the very reason this counts will never move forward.

Adedayo Mustapha

Tony O. Elumelu, CFR

I duff my hat for this guy for his genius idea, see as it about to bring a revolution in Nigerian league football. With the response Elumelu has given I'm sure something good will come out of it.

Imagine Dangote picking a club and turning it into a world class club instead of chasing Arsenal that isn't giving him any chance.

The investment will be massive, as it will be run as a business not some state government parastatals as the case is with most of our clubs

No matter what, we must respect our Police at all levels

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGg_DAWRQeE

It appears the man making the threats is a soldier, probably on pass, the police might have arrested his or a relatives bike and the soldier's intervention is not yielding fruit. Probably disagreements escalated to the soldier being threatened with arrest thereby prompting his reaction daring any of the police officers to come close to him.

This probably happened somewhere in the north.

This is my humble observation and analysis of the brief video

So, if your wifey is younger than you, you may consider sending her. That I what some men I met here did.

Thanks for your kind response, yes my wife is much younger than me, I should consider that more. But I also feel I might stand a good chance with a fully funded post graduate degree scholarship too. Well will try and weigh all the options

Unless they are talking about the totality of roads whether tarred, paved and the roads that are yet to be constructed, even the non maintained roads. Cos there's a non existence of good roads in Benue, Kogi and some virgin never touched federal roads in Plateau State.

This report should be clear about the nature and state or status of the condition of roads there're talking about.

Australia really humbled me. Imagine a financial controller in Nigeria now picking and packing cartons in warehouses in Australia.

I'm closely your age mate, last year 2023 I strongly contemplated the move to Australia. A primary school classmate studying in UK posted a link on securing fully funded scholarship in Australia for Africans and I got interested, I did some research on what it would take, I discovered that IELST is necessary to actualize the dream so I started gathering materials for the exams. I even contacted a University in Adelaide and was told it wasn't yet time for admissions, I was told to contact some agents that will help with the admission process and all.

I started watching and downloading videos on YouTube about life in Australia and stuff, researching on other available options aside the fully funded scholarships.

In fact I have done a lot to get myself acquainted with life in Australia, but I have a wife and 3 kids and I've been pondering of late whether I should continue exploring the possibilities.

I have eyes only for Australia in terms of moving abroad. Please advise me, is the fully funded scholarship a good option for a family man or there are better options for people like me

Romance / Re: Can The Past Life Of A Lady Truly Be Overlooked ? by Rotji(m): 4:22pm On Jan 26
Itiskdg121:
I'm not in support of the said lady, but what type of man is your friend's cousin to start with?

Women are always the ones that suffer in situations like this.

That his classmate or friend that came to reveal the ladies past, isn't he guilty of the same offence for doing 3some with her yet got the audacity to ask someone not to marry her?! What if it's the other way round and he's the one being exposed for doing 3somes, orgies and all sorts of immoralities and his fiancee is asked not to marry him based on his past?! How will he feel?!

While I'm not saying the lady should be absolved completely, I feel if the guy wanting to marry is a good guy and never engaged in such magnitude of immorality as his to be bride is being accused of he should carry out a very good investigation to verify the allegations then confront the lady with it. A genuinely repented person will always start any serious relationship by coming clean through revealing their past first, if their new partner is meant for them they will see the genuineness of their hearts and give them a chance.

I strongly believe that guy that made that expose actually deserves to marry a lady like this one if she's truly guilty, cos how will you do nonsense with some girls and feel you deserve reserved, innocent and godly wives?!

He's quick to judge her and forgot he was part of her immoral past.

Talk about removing the log in your eye before trying to point out the speck in another's

Romance / Re: The Type Of Men I Don't Want (personal Opinion) by Rotji(m): 10:38pm On Dec 02, 2023
SweetBuns:
They say that "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder", but honestly speaking there are certain calibres of men I will never go near no matter how hard they try.

To get straight to the point,

1. Short men
Oh my God.... I don't just know what to say about these sort of men. If I'm taller than you as a girl, then sorry but I can never see you as my second piece. You'll always be like a younger brother to me. No hard feelings.
Short men also have this irritating attitude whenever they see girls around, as if they're trying to compensate for their low height. And some even go to the gym and gets muscles.... But it just makes them look shorter like a 5 litre jerry can and irritating
Also, why in the world would I pick a short guy over a tall guy? I literally feel so protected and safe when I'm with a guy that is wayyyy taller than me (I'm 5'2 so my height is kinda average)... So ofc I'd want a tall man and not a mini man.
Imagine hugging a man and he's hugging your waist cause he's short ugh.
I wanna stand on my toes whenever I kiss him and strain my neck just to look at his face. No more no less.
Tall men also stand out more, they're far more attractive and I also want taller sons and daughters.
Who should the short guys date then? I dunno... But not me.
The bar starts at 6'0, but If you're like 6'2 or 6'3... I want your babiesss

2. Bald men
The only age where I think baldness is acceptable as a man for me is if he's like in his 50s or 60s. But if you're in your 20s-30s and you're already going bald.... It just irritates me low-key in a inexplicable way... Like why will a young guy have a hairline that receeds all the way to the middle or back of your head? Where did all your hair go? Gross
I also read somewhere that early balding is genetically inherited so that means my children too will suffer the same fate? God forbid.
My man ought to have a head full of hair well into his 60s, then we start talking about hair loss.

3. "Oju yo Bo" people
I didn't know the English term for this so I had to Google it. It's a Yoruba term for people whose eyes pop out of their sockets like that of a wall gecko. This is also something I don't like in my man.... I want his eyes to be like that of Henry Cahill... Neatly tucked inside and having small slit like opening.

Addition: so I just googled it and it's called prey eyes. I prefer the hunter one since it gives my man a piercing gaze and I just wanna hug him immediately.

4. Eyebrows
A man MUST have thick eyebrows. If you don't, I can't take you seriously

5. Men with bad posture

6. Men who supports man U grin

That last one was a joke but I'm dead serious about the rest. And I'm sure other girls will agree to some up there too.

At 5.2 any man shorter than you is a dwarf

I have known girls like you that disturbed everybody about "I want only tall men" but ended up marrying men shorter than them, some even dated the tall men but married shorter men.

Besides most of the supposed turn offs you are claiming is what you'll end up with, it's better you keep quiet and hope for the best than to brag about what you'll end up not having.

They forgot to mention Plateau State whose almost a decade of unresolved issues led them to not having a constitutionally recognized structure which has led to them loosing every contested position in the elections since 2019.

Two factions exist in the state and they've not been able to unite and hold a legitimate congress that will enable them to vie for, win and maintain their positions.

People would rather be emotional about it than face the truth and do the needful.

Actually the rate of divorce in Northern Nigeria is so high Nigeria would have been on the list above but this has balanced it out with a very low divorce rate in the Middle Belt and south.

It's no surprise almost all the countries on the list are Muslim countries, cos Islamic divorce laws allows it to be done as much as possible. It's why a typical northerner might marry as many as more than 10 wives in his life time while not being married to more than 4 at a time
