Abiodun Aguda’s Femab Properties Addresses Campus Project Dispute, Dismisses Fraud Claims
Femab Properties Limited has reiterated its commitment to transparency and accountability in the ongoing development of the IPAM Bureh Town Campus in collaboration with the University of Sierra Leone. The real estate firm, led by Managing Director Abiodun Aguda, reaffirmed its dedication to completing the project despite challenges arising from administrative changes and financial policy shifts.
Addressing concerns regarding the project's status, the University of Sierra Leone emphasized that all agreements with Femab Properties were conducted with due diligence and in adherence to regulatory procedures. Vice Chancellor Professor Aiah Lebbie stated, “Our commitment to due process remains firm. Every phase of this project has been executed with established guidelines, and we continue to engage stakeholders to ensure its successful completion.”
The partnership was formalized in 2018 following a rigorous review process involving key government bodies such as the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education and the Ministry of Finance. The agreement aimed to enhance educational infrastructure through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. An initial $4.5M was disbursed for preliminaries in accordance to the contract approved by the cabinet and ratified by the Parliament was made to kick-start construction, but subsequent delays in securing government-backed guarantees impacted the project timeline.

Professor Lebbie acknowledged the hurdles but maintained that the university remains committed to resolving outstanding issues. “While setbacks are never ideal, they provide opportunities to reassess and strengthen our approach. We are actively negotiating revised terms with Femab Properties to ensure that the project aligns with our institutional goals without compromising transparency.”
Recent engagements, including a detailed briefing on February 5, 2022, and a site visit on August 24, 2024, have provided further clarity on the project's progress. The university has also welcomed ongoing inquiries by the Anti-Corruption Commission and pledged full cooperation. “Our priority remains the completion of this campus and the advancement of our academic mission,” Professor Lebbie added.
Femab Properties Limited has built a strong reputation in residential and industrial property development, with a growing presence beyond Nigeria. The company reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the IPAM Bureh Town Campus project and expressed optimism about overcoming challenges through continued collaboration with all stakeholders.
The university apex body, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Foday Sar, was in Nigeria on February 5th, 2023, to present an alternative financial model in the face of a government reluctant to issue the guarantee pledged in the contract. Both IPAM and Femab made great progress in reaching a deal before their Tenor expired.
On the 11th of August 2024, the new administration led by Professor Lebbie again visited Nigeria to conclude the negotiations where the last administration stopped before the distracting publication that met both IPAM and Femab by surprise. The two parties are determined to ensure these issues are resolved to ensure immediate redeployment to the site.

The University of Sierra Leone urged the public to rely on verified information, cautioning against misinformation that could distort facts. “This project is a vital step in enhancing our educational landscape. We remain dedicated to ensuring its successful completion for the benefit of our students, staff, and the nation,” concluded Professor Lebbie.

PoliticsLeke Pitan’s Face-saving PR Stunt by royalbobo(op): 7:39am On May 08, 2015
I was amused to read the story in the Punch of May 7, 2015, where the former Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Leke Pitan, tried to subtly mend fences with his party, the All Progressives Congress. Maybe the intention was not only to mend fences but to position himself as a loyal party member as the party leadership considers individuals for the many openings for political appointments available to the APC.

The story in the Punch is an obvious PR stunt by ‘DLP’ as he is fondly referred to by his supporters and the reasons for this are not far-fetched. With the APC in control at the Federal level and in Lagos, there are a lot of juicy positions and benefits available party loyalists. In this move for survival, DLP must surely be hoping that the party members and leadership have forgotten many of his divisive activities in the run-up to the elections.

During the jostle for the governorship ticket for the APC, DLP first tried to engineer a consensus candidate situation where other candidates would step down for him. When this did not work, he played the played the religious card on many occassions. He was quoted to have told members of his Christian congregation not to vote for anybody outside their religious sect.

When he failed woefully at the primaries, polling a paltry 112 votes, he withdrew from the party and shunned all party activities. All efforts to bring his back into the fold were met with a deafening silence. He is the only governorship aspirant on the party’s platform who did not attend any meetings brokered to create unity amongst all the aspirants and did not attend any of the party’s rallies. There is concrete evidence that he held secret meetings with the PDP and urged his supporters to vote against his own party at the Presidential and Governorship elections.

These are some of the reasons his recent statements are laughable and smack of desperation. Clearly, he has failed and needs to find a way back into political relevance. Being a politician out of touch with the realities of the times, he did not anticipate the party’s success at the general elections. Leke Pitan was the lone wolf who purposely made himself unavailable and did not contribute one iota of support to the APC’s victory in Lagos State. He was bitter at his defeat and did not hide it and cannot now `rewrite’ the story of his treachery to the party and its leadership. He must not be allowed to reap where he did not sow by agitating for a Federal or state appointment through the back door. Rather, the likes of Senator Ganiyu Solomon, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji or Obafemi Hamzat, who worked hard for the party during the campaigns, should be considered for any appointments from Lagos state.

DLP is a spent politician whose futile attempts to stop the APC’s victory in Lagos failed. He should retrace his steps and purge himself of his anti-party activities before he can begin to beg for rehabilitation.

PoliticsSupporters Throng Ambode's Office To Celebrate APC Victory by royalbobo(op): 6:05pm On Apr 01, 2015
Change is in the air. It is a new dawn and all over the country, people are getting caught up in the excitement and expectation. This was evident today as supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos thronged the campaign secretariat of the party's governorship candidate in Gbagada, Lagos to celebrate the party's victory in the presidential elections. The large crowd of supporters danced and sang songs of victory and repeatedly chanted "Sai Nigeria", "Sai Baba", and "Ambo", the slogan of Akinwunmi Ambode.

The highpoint was the arrival of the man himself, Akinwunmi Ambode. The crowd erupted in chants of "Ambo" and clung to his car. Akinwunmi Ambode obliged the supportes and came out of his car to salute them. This further excited the already frenzied crowd who chanted "Ambo" "Ambo".

The supporters expressed confidence that the APC's victory will bring positive change to Nigeria. They added that victory for Akinwunmi Ambode come April 11, will bring further development and progress to Lagos, especially now that there will be an APC government at the centre.

Ambode enjoined the supporters to remain united in their common quest for a new Nigeria. He said, "This is not the time to express hate in any form. Nigerians have shown impressive readiness to make our country work again. We must remain united in this one purpose to make our nation great."

The question people should ask is did Ambode himself shared the bags of rice? Answer is NO. Some people are so daft that they reason and comment without facts. A supporter shared the bags of rice to woo more supporters for Ambode's candidacy. Ambode shared only writing materials for primary school students and so far that has been the best move from any politician. Ambode owns my vote any day any time and he will surely defeat Agbaje.
