patrickmuf: The same Sane that terrorized Madrid in the UCL as a teenager is the one some folks want us to believe is only playing well because of Pep... Sterling on the other hand was one of the best players in Liverpool and after Suarez left, he was their go to man but some folks want us to believe he is only playing well cos of Pep... Same Otamendi Man United tried to sign but was beaten to his signature is now an average defender cos people want to praise Pep. Walker isn't as good as Valencia because it's an argument, I must not lose. When to be honest they are both brainless, often depending on pace and power rather than footballing IQ, even at that, Walker, scores more and assist more. How on earth is current Ibra better than Aguero if not that it's an argument and as far as nairaland is concerned, it's an abomination to admit superior opinion in an argument. At this point in time, I'd love to see a coach who will even take Ibra over Jesus, very unlikely but folks look at United's bench and want to convince us that Ibra there is akin to the one that ruled series A when in all honesty he is past it.
To see how ridiculous this whole thing is, they want us to believe Mendy and Kompany are out injured and shouldn't be considered when comparing both teams or doing a combined 11 but they are talking about Bailly who is injured, Shaw and Ibra who have barely played this season...Kompany that walks straight to the starting 11 anytime he feels slightly comfortable to play is the one they want us to believe isn't good enough when in all honesty he is better than anything Manchester United have to offer. Or is Stones who is not better than Smalling? Last season, people castigated Stones because of his price tag (Same excuse most Man Utd fans make for Pogba) and a bid to get to Pep for his preference for ball playing CBs.
My guy spare me abegi. On that una very same Man Utd thread, you guys will use your hands and type stuffs like "Bailly >>> Otamendi", "Rashford >>> Kelechi", "Martial >>> Jesus", "De Gea >>> Courtois", "Pogba >>> Fernandinho". Then come back and start wailing that you do not have the best players. Isn't hindsight a bi.ac=tch!?
The other day, some United fans posted a fictional starting 11 list combo of Manchester United / Tottenham Hotspurs players. Guess how many Spurs players were in the list ------ 2 out of 11; and if I take silence to be consent, over half your fans on that thread agreed to that list!!! Only 2 Spurs were "deemed good enough" to displace Manchester United players if they were all up for selection on the same team.
Granted, there will always be bias as long as the team you support is involved but do not come afterwards and start claiming otherwise. In the name of loyalty to club, una go mes-kafon anyhow, then come back to wan begin dey from sensimilia wen hand don touch una!
dopeJemi: I still believe Pep made the best out of the squad, did he buy the best players out there? definitely not, I bet you, if this City team were 3rd or 4th on the log, very few will come here to say he has the best squad, that is why I said they are the best when they play as a Team.. Otamendi, stones and Co will remain shi.t in their eyes, cause I don't seem to understand how the players that were castigated last season have suddenly made up the squad that we now refer to as the "best".. Pep's magic
I'll agree to disagree on this one
Guy, I feel you on this one jare! Same players that folks here were making jest of last season even before they had kicked a ball, have now turned "world best".
Like you've rightly said, Pep deserves every bit of hype and credit he is getting. From the way he sets up his team, changes formation and player positioning in the game, you can clearly see that he is a "thinking" manager. Yes, he making the best of the players available to him because these guys individually ARE NOT the best players in their positions. Give Pep the same current United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool or Spurs team and he will significantly IMPROVE them!
