More Godd news in Jesus name Principessa0: I have received Passport Request on Monday. I have also submitted. LMIA-Exempt Work Permit Application submitted online in April 2016, Medical call in October. Passport Request in November. I hope this can help everyone figure out how long to wait. I think the CIC are really flooded with applications. They are working really hard. Patience is the way to go. Just be patient. Thank you all and I wish you goodluck. |

I guess you just have to be patient. I almost withdrew my application after waiting for several months until I came accross this page and noticed people that applied before me are still waiting. Since you did upfront Medicals , ur passport request mail is almost here. Just be a lil patient. Like I said, I know of a friend that did biometrics may (work permit) and she got her trv this November. Edoblakky: I still don't understand CIC. I applied for my wife in January this year. Because there was delay and she was expectant, she went to the US to have our baby. She was invited to submit her passport the very day she gave birth in the US. We missed the 30 day window and we came back to Nigeria where we were advised to reapply. We've reapplied since second week in June with upfront medical and done biometrics same period. I am shocked that almost 6 months and no response. Even while in the US, we tried calling and sending emails but they are too lazy to respond. I think I'll have to call the Calgary representative in the parliament 2moro. |

yes it's for real oo! 26 weeks . I just hope it doesn't affect those that already have their applications in e.g April,May , June and July . I guess we just have to add the extra weeks to how long we have waited already. I am already in the 19th - 20th week. I know of someone that did her biometrics may (work permit) and just got her trv approved 11th of November . Or what do you guys think

Thanks so much . Gymme: Withdrawing an application from CIC takes just few clicks/minutes. Leaving your application is not harmful neither will withdrawing it help. If you waited this long, why not just leave it and take your mind off it. As my people would say, oku iya won ni, won maa sin. |

Ofcourse! It has to be Accra Nunu16: online work permit applications are processed in Ghana....I just confirmed. They are probably just overwhelmed with all online application from both Nigeria and Ghana going through them |

Sigh! But what is cause of the delay. It wasn't like this last year. I was delayed last year and it took just 2 months and 2weeks to get a response. But now it's over 7months jpepper: This SOWP/OWP process is a real test of patience. I hope some people's spouse will not have finished school by the time CIC decides to review their file (for those whose spouse is in school). Sigh |

Even if they have a lot of back logs! Come on ,study permit applicants are already getting responses. Even those that applied August are getting responses. Honestly I am getting really worried. If I track it now it says it's still Processing. I don't understand ooo, 5months now. Sigh |

Thank you!!!! Principessa0: Dear Justwise, it is unfortunate that you were so quick to close a thread started on this topic. I know you know a great deal about Canada visas however, not all visas fall under student visa which I believe you have become an expert. There are different types of work permits for working in Canada. Here are some types that I know of: SOWP: for spouses of people already in Canada Open work permit: No restriction on jobs you can apply to and you are not a spouse. Closed work permit: You need LMIA and must only work for a specific employer. LMIA Exempt Work Permit: Mostly for people who have been nominated for Permanent residency in a Canadian Province but need a work permit to resume work before PR processing is complete. You are given a work permit letter along with your provincial nomination certificate.
There are some of us who may have a PR application in progress but also have a work permit application in progress. We cannot benefit from the information in the Visitors, Students (Travelling to Canada) and Federal Skill workers program. I have a PR in progress but it is not even under Federal Skill workers/Express Entry.
Anyway, I think this thread (SOWP) applicants is close enough to contain information that might be relevant to our case, though my Work permit is not SOWP. Please do not Close this thread! |

an open work permit allows the holder to work in any position for any employer in Canada for the length of time stated on the document, whereas Accompanying spouses or common-law partners of foreign students are eligible for an open work permit, which means they do not need a job offer or a labour market opinion from Service Canada.
What is the difference between SOWP and open work permit?[/quote] |
