If you follow Nigerian politics, especially the Presidential side of it, I assure you that these five things are most likely to happen in the 2027 Presidential race, all things being equal.

1. In 2027, the trio of Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Bola Tinubu, will run under their respective panties, LP, PDP and APC, in a rehash of the 2023 elections. The three men will the main contenders, anybody else who chooses to run will be a time waster. It is also likely to be the very last time any of the three men will run for any political office in Nigeria, age is not on their side for 2031.


2. The elections will be brazenly rigged in favour of the ruling party, APC, and it's incumbent, Bola Tinubu. After Tinubu is declared winner, he will make a speech, or release a statement, asking political opponents to join him to build a new Nigeria, and that those aggrieved should go to court.

3. Atiku and Obi will do neither, they know the drill, they have been through this before. Instead, Atiku and Obi are going to ask their supporters to come out massively to protest the outcome of the elections. People will troop out to protest, not just because of the elections, but also to protest many years of austerity, hardship, economic decline, insecurity, corruption and abuse of power by the ruling class.

4. As usual, government will roll out the Police, Army, DSS to crush the protest, and it will turn violent very quickly. Many will die, many will be arrested and charged for treason, many properties will be destroyed.

5. Obi, Atiku and Tinubu will call for restraint on both sides, but it will be too late. Years of hardship, hopelessness, economic downturn, brazen corruption by the ruling class will make several people take up arms against government, taking Nigeria to a new level of insecurity never seen before
