Family / Re: Best Advice/quotes Mum Ever Gave You? by SabrinaNene(f): 4:44am On May 14, 2012
You have to love yourself before you love anyone else, cos you cant give what you don't have.
She also always said "no one can make you feel inferior without your consent." it's an Eleanor Roosevelt saying.

If you had taken your time to go through that post, Month where in it was it stated that one sex should be inferior against the other so why do we always look for misunderstand and quarrel where there are not.

Now to avoid your garbbish, are you trying to tell me men should still consider and go ahead to marry a woman with the above attitude because marriage is meant to be a 50-50 thing? Of course you know that will be political suicide.

Seriously the word you chose to go with was "political suicide".that is very funny, and somewhat illogical, but I'm gonna get straight to the point. First of all, you never really answered my question, bt then again I didn't think you would be able to.You don't have to outrightly state that one sex should be inferior, bt it was inferred in your little speech. Oh and yeah, a lot of guys I know would totally marry me.. Why? because a lot of people I hang out with a very self assured, and don't feel threathened by my outspoken nature. They don't want a foot stool, but want someone that operates on a similar intellectual wavelength..so we obviously don't hang out with/or even know the same caliber of people.

this is the kind of mindset our beautiful ladies need to do away with.

from your above statement, marriage is an option. then while mislead those who for them Marriage is a Must?

I'm sorry could you please elaborate on what you mean by "this kind of mindset"....do you mean the mind set that doesn't believe that women are subservient to men. I am highly confused...And also please explain how I am misleading "those for whom marriage is a must," by telling them that they aren't second class citizens...in my opinion it is men like you that will expect a woman to still be with a man even if he abuses her...cos after all "marriage is a must," so you better die there than actually stand up for yourself...good job!

I was rolling on the floor when I read this post. Are you serious?...I'm sorry what century do you live in. Maybe cos I grew up with different parents, but I'm not getting married to be some guy's foot stool. Also this perception of "ahh women you better do this or you won't get married" is rather degrading. Last time I checked people come into the world alone and they die alone, yes marriage might be something good to have along the way, but I'd rather be happy and alone *or even in a civil partnership, than be with some guy that tries to treat me like a 2nd class citizen. In my opinion any guy that feels threatened or emasculated by a woman because she asks him to get water for her to wash HIS clothes, needs to check himself. Its called SELF-esteem, esteem of your damn self, and if having to go get water would really hurt your ego that much...then maybe you aren't really a man...ever though of that...#just saying.
Yall need to stop blaming women for everything....

So many Nigerians are highly deluded, so you can't question someone's actions because they have anointing? in my opinion anyone can be a pastor or preacher or whatever they are called, all you need is charisma and the ability to interpret the bible in such a way that it benefits you..i don't blame the pastors though, because the church business is booming there, its like robbery under the cloak of religion...smart move.
People that are supporting Oyedepo should really examine their reasons, are you saying he is right because he is anointed and you don't want to burn in "hell", or because you really believe he should focus on business rather than help the congregation that pretty much put him where he is?
There is nothing wrong with bring business savvy, i just feel like in his position it is definitely suspect because his church is like a personal bank account from which he is funding his activities, and that is HIGHLY unethical. If he really is a man of God isn't his reward meant to be in heaven, why is he so concerned with material things.
BTW I really don't want to see any bible verses being quoted to me, I grew up with religious parents and I've read it, so if your answer isn't based on any substantial logic, then don't talk.

thanks!

You think it is a party? It is a torture, an everlasting torture............ the sensation feels stronger that what we experience here on earth.

You didn't get my point did you, a lot of people I know have similar beliefs, and if I'm going to hell, then the rest of them are as well. Hence the party statement. I don't really care about whether or not hell exists...so you telling me its like everlasting torture, doesn't really cause me to feel fear or anything. Don't get me wrong, I grew up with highly catholic parents, went all the way through confirmation. But at some point, I realized religion just wasn't working for me. I will not believe in something, just cos i want to escape everlasting torture...cos it sounds like I'm being threatened..and i don't do well with threats. If it really was the true way, then why do people need to be pushed to believe in it?...

I'm shocked no one has brought up a story about how someone died for a day or something and they went to hell and came back.. and testified that it was real.. I am actually really enjoying this conversation, although sometimes people tend to get crazy. I'm agnostic, why because I really cant be bothered to stress myself about religion in general. I just live my life; plus, the notion of burning in hell didn't really make any sense to me. If I am going to hell because of my beliefs of lack there of, then a lot of other people I know are gonna be there too...so what can say, might as well have a party
*plus how does a soul burn (for the hella religious people out there), is it like a spiritual fire?

omg, I'm so happy I saw this post. I understand some people's need for religion, because they don't want to feel like they are alone(even though they are), and people also want to belong to some group, which religion tends to provide...but the notion of a some supernatural diety coming down from heaven to smite us all..kinda seems like a threat. Plus in my opinion, religion is a key factor in Nigeria's current situation, cos people are taught to wait for God to come save them, and that God will provide, and hope like this might be fun to have...but its kind of baseless

I feel like religion..well Nigerians take on religion is what is crippling our country. Think about it.. if you didn't think there was a heaven or hell where all these politicians and messed up people would go to, would you try to stand up to them? Don't get me wrong, religion is something that tends to work out for a lot of people, but it also leaves other people "waiting for God" and really not doing anything about their current situation.
